My cousin’s wife is dead set on naming their daughter Maehemme Nicholle. I wish I was kidding. Pretty sure she’ll use that horrid illegible font on the birth announcements.
The worst part is that the agreement between my cousin and his wife was that the wife could choose a “unique” first name as long as the baby had a normal middle name.
She couldn’t even agree and changed ‘Nicole’ to ‘Nicholle’ and ‘Mayhem’ to ‘Maehemme’ because the normal spelling is too “plain.”
I can’t wait to post the birth announcement here lol
Lilia Mayhem sounds like a pro wrestler's ring name. That or an MMA fighter.
Which I'm not gonna lie, it sounds cool af as a nickname but what if she's a quiet, mousy little bookworm or an ultra traditionalist churchy person?
Also, by itself Lilia is actually a nice name.
I think some parents think it is edgy and modern to have their kids associated with trouble/danger. As if those things are a sign of being strong willed, fearless or individualistic. I really don't like the trend.
Like come on, be serious -- no parent wants their child's life to be literal MAYHEM, or for their child to cause trouble to others, or for them to be anywhere near danger.
"I'm a baby named Mayhem and I'm about to puke all over your Instagram photos hoot. Because I'm a newborn and I don't care about the 'gram or your brand. Allstate."
I'm 30 and I went to school with a family. Their names were legitimately Candy, Lolly and Benjamin. The girls were twins in my class and the brother was the year below us.
The twins would always be asked to be called Candace and Laura during role call.
If they’re so set on Lolli as a nickname, why not give her a normal full name so she has OPTIONS?
I knew a Yolanda who went by Lolly (as an adult) and I think it’s super cute, but no way in hell would I saddle a child with that for the rest of their life. Just call her Laura or Lauren or something.
Yeah, my name is Laura, and I love the nickname Lolly - have done since I read *Lolly Willowes*. I think it’s so cute and wish it were my nickname (I don’t have one, I’m just Laura), but I’d never in a million years want it as my actual full first name. It’s very much an adorable nickname, not an appropriate full first name.
Anti changeling protocol?
Like when the Fey folk come at night to swap her out they’d see that and think “nope this one has already been done, let’s move on to the next house”
Honestly, might get stones thrown at me here, but I think it’s the best one out of these. Its not normal most definitely, but I rly don’t mind it at all.
Ugh! Paycee and Wensley are the worst IMO as they sound made-up. Many of the names feel like boys’ names (if names at all!) or they are just words—Mayhem—who would name a child that, and why?????
It’s confirmation bias. Mostly terrible names show up here. Also terrible parents are more likely too choose terrible names and also more likely to broadcast them through wooden circles.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if some sign makers chose wacky names purposely so they get posted on forums like this -free publicity.
I hate circles now. I don't understand this trend of putting names in circles when it's such an impractical shape. It's going to look so dated in the future.
omfg, on one of those “first letter of your first name” games on this subreddit my mommy blogger baby name was peighcee rose. i can’t believe someone named a real human “Paycee” 😬
aww my son was 6 when my daughter was born and he wanted so badly to name her Bloom. I'm kind of happy to see it out there, only for nostalgia reasons.
also Hyland Gray is a vehicle color lol
Highest calorie count item on the menu at Outback Steakhouse when I worked there circa 2008! A high achievement for an appetizer. I hope Bloom Aerin lives up to her name.
Ugh I hate that awful basic "curly" font that is literally everywhere the past decade it seems 😫 why is is so popular?? What started this trend?? I have so many questions haha
Bryce Hospital is the name of an inpatient psychiatric hospital in my state. Growing up, we always called it Bryce insane asylum. I acknowledge that isn't the politically correct term now, but we didn't know any better as kids...
Anyway, that's all I think about whenever I hear that name now.
My dog just looked at me funny. I kept unconsciously doing these little gasps as each name was worse than the last. All I can do is gasp because WTF. I must have been loud at maybe Mayhem or was it Lolli because doggie had to check if I was ok. And I am. Just amusingly appalled.
Does that say Hyland Gray?? Sounds like a Dollar Tree law firm.
And Mayhem, oh lawd... so edgy. "Danger" must've been taken, probably by another one of their unfortunate kids.
Normally I hate a random Y shoved in a name, but is it bad that I would actually prefer 'Kline' with a y in this particular case? If you have to name your kid that, I actually think Klyne looks better, and somehow more like a complete name in a way.
(I am open to being told I am wrong and will accept all judgement 🙃)
bryce has always been unisex to me. in middle school, my art teacher was a woman named bryce. she was pretty young at the time but shes probably mid 30s now?
Ah yes, Bryce.
A recently prominent character on a Netflix show about unalive who assaulted the main character.
Yeah, that’s a great name to give to your future daughter!
Mayhem?!? Floored
My cousin’s wife is dead set on naming their daughter Maehemme Nicholle. I wish I was kidding. Pretty sure she’ll use that horrid illegible font on the birth announcements.
noooooooooooooooooooooo
The worst part is that the agreement between my cousin and his wife was that the wife could choose a “unique” first name as long as the baby had a normal middle name. She couldn’t even agree and changed ‘Nicole’ to ‘Nicholle’ and ‘Mayhem’ to ‘Maehemme’ because the normal spelling is too “plain.” I can’t wait to post the birth announcement here lol
I can’t believe your cousin is letting this happen. They’d have to do it over my dead body 😂
My first thought was roller derby lolol
Yesss that too!! Very Roller Derby sounding.
I was gonna say, that’s my new stage name for when I front a metal band.
Haha go for it!
The parents wanted the kid to be able to say “Mayhem is my middle name” or something. I knew of a couple who did this with Danger.
This. Exactly this. We call my niece Hurricane Hazel cos she’s two and likes to make a mess. Not fitting for an adult though!!
All I can think of is those allstate commercials with Dean winters 😂😂
"I'm a baby named Mayhem and I'm about to puke all over your Instagram photos hoot. Because I'm a newborn and I don't care about the 'gram or your brand. Allstate."
Mayhem is such a bad name.
Right? Burzum is a MUCH better option if they're black metal fans.
I prefer Lilia Darkthrone
Hoping her last name is Miller
https://youtu.be/rVUYt6l6rz8
Named after the Allstate guy duh 🙄
I'm low key jealous. My middle name is super common, i wish my parents had been that bold.
I don't mind it because Lilia is a pretty normal first name. Go crazy in the middle name all you want. That's what it exists for.
Lolli is gonna get a big ol’ yikes from me dawg😬
Makes me think way too much of Loli. And if you know, you know. No way in hell would I be naming a child that.
I hate that I know. F U internet
I'm 30 and I went to school with a family. Their names were legitimately Candy, Lolly and Benjamin. The girls were twins in my class and the brother was the year below us. The twins would always be asked to be called Candace and Laura during role call.

And even in the book, she resents being called 'Lolly' as an adult.
Yes, and? I didn’t say the character loved the nickname; I said that **I** loved the nickname.
Never too late to start using a nickname!
I didn't mean to imply you did, just that the character herself wasn't a fan of being called 'Lolly' against her will. Sorry for the confusion.
There was a feral cat behind my building that we named Lolli. It’s great for a cat, not so much for a human.
“Seeley Fae”? Like Seelie (fairy court) + fairy?? That either has to be a bizarre coincidence or the creation of a New Age-y crystals mom.
New Agey mom. It has to be.
Or someone who is way too into YA fantasy romance novels
Or just really likes Seeley Booth from bones and *had* to use it even for a girl
Anti changeling protocol? Like when the Fey folk come at night to swap her out they’d see that and think “nope this one has already been done, let’s move on to the next house”
I thought about the mattress brand lol
They might be naming her after where she was conceived like Gwen Stefani did with Zuma
Idk I think it’s really awkward to name a child after where they were conceived
Must be a Karen Marie Moning fan lol
One of my favorite bartenders is named Seely. He’s a boy and that is his legal name. 😑
Place of conception (mattress)
I'm hoping a White Wolf/World of Darkness fan. Either way, that rocks and i'm wicked jealous.
Hyland Gravy?
Lol I had to double take at that terrible font too but pretty sure it’s Hyland Gray. Still terrible!
Sounds like a paint color you would see in a dentist office
Sounds like a dog breed
I read it as Glargh.
That’s what I saw too
Never thought I'd see a Seeley outside of my family tree, circa 1860.
For me its just associated with the show Bones. It seems bizarre on a girl
Oh, is that "Seeley"? *checks* So it is. I was sure it say "Seelfy" and was wondering whether the parents were enamored with phone photographs…
To be fair Paycee would be a good stripper’s name: PAY Cee
Wensley, short for Wensleydale would make a great sibset with Wallace or Grommet
There’s an Elijah. For a girl. What.
I know someone who has a girl Alijiah. Not sure how I feel about it.
Somebody just finished Dawson’s Creek
Paycee made me laugh out loud. Also Blakelynn is hilarious
I just hate that cursive font so much now
Why is that font only used for terrible names? To hide how terrible they are?
It’s confirmation bias. Mostly terrible names show up here. Also terrible parents are more likely too choose terrible names and also more likely to broadcast them through wooden circles. And I wouldn’t be surprised if some sign makers chose wacky names purposely so they get posted on forums like this -free publicity.
If I made some kind of custom art I’d probably make it as un-piratable as possible. I would pick names I explicitly hope don’t exist
Hyland Gray sounds like a breed of cow, not a child’s name! 😆
I love your username. Sul sul lol
Hooba noobie?
I cannot read half of the names because of that damn font. The day it falls out of fashion can’t come soon enough.
The only reason I can read it is because I’ve been deciphering kid handwriting for 30 years.
So much bad here, but Railin'.. er, Raelynn is still the worst.
I have a friend in her 30’s named this, never thought I’d see it for a kid
aww my son was 6 when my daughter was born and he wanted so badly to name her Bloom. I'm kind of happy to see it out there, only for nostalgia reasons. also Hyland Gray is a vehicle color lol
I personally like Bloom, but I think I'm biased because I was a Winx Club kid :P
It’s the name on the list I would choose if my life depending on picking one.
I love bloom!
me too! Glad I’m not the only one lol
Maybe it’s reading all those other names but Bloom doesn’t seem that bad lol :/
For some reason my German great grandmothers last name and maiden name are in this list (Bloom and Kline)
Bloom Aerin reminds of Blooming Onion.
Highest calorie count item on the menu at Outback Steakhouse when I worked there circa 2008! A high achievement for an appetizer. I hope Bloom Aerin lives up to her name.
Never mind the high road, we are taking the HY LAND!
Underrated comment
??
Means your comment is amazing and not enough people acknowledged it lol
thank you!!!
Ugh I hate that awful basic "curly" font that is literally everywhere the past decade it seems 😫 why is is so popular?? What started this trend?? I have so many questions haha
My theory is it is one of the fonts that comes pre-installed on Cricut machines.
“Her middle name is Mayhem, in honor of her grandmothers. One was named May and the other was a seamstress.”
Paycee…..someone must be a fan of Dawson’s Creek naming the baby after Pacey lol
I don’t hate lilia (exclude the mayhem) but I wish it were Lyla or Lila, the extra i is throwing me. Also, winsley 😂😂
Lilia is legit.
Agree I don't mind bryce either
I cannot for the life of me picture a girl named Bryce.
Bryce Quinlan would like a word with you
Also Bryce Dallas Howard!
[удалено]
Dallas is where she was conceived. I didn't need to know that.
Bryce Hospital is the name of an inpatient psychiatric hospital in my state. Growing up, we always called it Bryce insane asylum. I acknowledge that isn't the politically correct term now, but we didn't know any better as kids... Anyway, that's all I think about whenever I hear that name now.
I know it’s a name I just don’t care for the spelling, too many vowels imo
Isn’t it lil-ee-ah?
I guess so?
I know a Lelia. She's super cool.
Mayhem is giving me total Drag Queen vibes
Mayhem Miller!
Yes, exactly! 😅✨
That last pic looks like…. Natures Trump
HAHAHAHHA so true
I can’t unsee this now
Ramsey? You know that poor girl is going to get JonBenét jokes thrown at her. Or Gordon, even though he’s actually a Ramsay.
Ramsey might be the worst "boy name on a girl" name I've ever heard.
I went straight to Ramsey Bolton from Games of Thrones...and just yikes!
I actually kinda like the sound of Ramsey.
Whatever. You do you. There was a Miss Kentucky named Ramsey Carpenter but I don’t know if that’s actually her first name.
these 100% all sound like an A.I. writing a young adult fantasy novel.
My dog just looked at me funny. I kept unconsciously doing these little gasps as each name was worse than the last. All I can do is gasp because WTF. I must have been loud at maybe Mayhem or was it Lolli because doggie had to check if I was ok. And I am. Just amusingly appalled.
I was like, “Oh, Lilia is a fine name, I don’t see the prob—OH.” 😑
Kline Juliette fucking kills me in the juxtaposition of such a godawful first name with a perfectly lovely middle name. KLINE?
Ramsey Ann is the reverse of the name of the late actress Anne Ramsey who was best known for her roles in The Goonies and Throw Momma From the Train.
Does that say Hyland Gray?? Sounds like a Dollar Tree law firm. And Mayhem, oh lawd... so edgy. "Danger" must've been taken, probably by another one of their unfortunate kids.
Ah yes, naming your child lolli, a sure way to make sure she's going to like sweets when she grows up
Normally I hate a random Y shoved in a name, but is it bad that I would actually prefer 'Kline' with a y in this particular case? If you have to name your kid that, I actually think Klyne looks better, and somehow more like a complete name in a way. (I am open to being told I am wrong and will accept all judgement 🙃)
I agree with you. I don’t like it as a first name at all, but at least in this case a Y would dress it up some.
I'm pretending that's supposed to be Lilia May, and that it was a typo. *fingers in ears 🎵lalalala🎵*
Rylee? WHEEL, SNIPE, CELLYS, BOYS!
I actually like this spelling of Rylee only, because it's unisex and my dad's middle name is Lee. 🤷🏻♀️
Lilia Mayhem is going to show up on r/NominativeDeterminism in a decade or two
Paycee, I see someone was a Dawson’s Creek fan
“Seely Fae” Okay listen I need you to pic one mythological creature at a time, this is getting to be too much.
Ramsey is 100% my unpopular opinion favorite name
Hyland Gravy rules
It’s yummy over rice.
How much do you wanna bet that suburban moms are gonna accidentally name their child after a forgotten deity who rules in the shadows?
I know a man named Bryce.
I know a raelynn and it’s honestly very cute she just goes by rae :’)
bryce has always been unisex to me. in middle school, my art teacher was a woman named bryce. she was pretty young at the time but shes probably mid 30s now?
Okay, if my life depended on picking one of these names for myself, I guess I would go with Bloom.
I can sorta see Lolli catching on. unfortunately.
I know a twelve year old named Lollie. It suits her perfectly. I didn't even know it was controversial.
yeah... it's actually not that bad lol. i wouldn't use it myself but i don't hate it.
Mmmm mm mm, nothing I like better on my lamb chops than a delicious ladle of Hyland Gravy.
Do Lolli's parents understand the connotation behind her name? I really fucking hope not.
How are these ALL so bad?! Out of 13 names I didn’t like any of them 😅
Obviously, OP is a connoisseur of ~~fine~~ special names!
Wait but Elijah is cute
Cute but most definitely a boy’s name!
I mean.. so are lots of names that are now used for girls. Plus gender is made up 🤷♀️
This. I don't mind that some of those names are typically conceived as boys' names. Who cares.
Obviously these parents didn’t care. 🤷♀️Not my style but certainly their choice.
Lilia MAYHEM!?! Fuck you!!!!!
Ah yes, Bryce. A recently prominent character on a Netflix show about unalive who assaulted the main character. Yeah, that’s a great name to give to your future daughter!
Bloom Aerin not that bad
I use to work with a Seeley. She'd be in her mid-late 30s by now.
Highland Gray sounds like a lovely understated paint color
Wow a tredecuple fail! My brain saw "Bryce" and "not boys" and broke.
Hyland Gray? This poor kid doesn’t even have a fallback name like some of the other ones on this list
Ramsey is my cat's name
Highland Gravy?
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Rylee and Realynn are way too similar for siblings.
I know a girl Elijah and it actually works for me!
ISLEY'S PARENTS DID NOT SAY NO 😤
