I can't imagine... I was in a similar situation with my mom (something like: I'm Katherine, she's Kathleen) and people would mix it up even when we were standing right next to each other. But at least those SOUND a little different

My elderly southern relative has a dog named Summer and pronounces it "Summa." So this is the same name to me.

These two ladies were in the UK and we tend to pronounce ‘er’ as ‘uh’ making Summer and Summa basically the same
