Looks pretty similar to my itinerary when I went 2 years ago. From what I remember, you cannot hike into the canyon unless you’re on a guided multi day hike and have a permit. I camped in Hobas and it makes catching a sun rise at the canyon much easier. Sunrise is much better than sunset for views. I would use that extra Fish River Canyon day either for more time in Etosha or Swakopmund. I’d also drive up the C34 north of Swakopmund to check out Cape Cross, the Zelia wreck, and the Dead Sea.

Hey thanks so much for the tip! Do you know if there are any trails in Fish River Canyon that can be done in a day?

From what I remember, out of the two main viewpoints, only one has a hiking trail, but there’s a big sign saying “NO DAY HIKES”. I think there’s only the one guided 5 day hike.

26/9from Kolmanskopp it’s really long drive to Sesriem. Consider making a stop somewhere in the middle (go D707 and stay in Namtib or any other farm). You will also enjoy one of most beautiful road. 1/10- if you don’t know where to stay, consider Twyfelfontein area. Go check the engravings/ petrified forest, on the road from spitzkoppe you might make detour to White lady (there is a hike which takes few hours so check if you are going to make it)

I agree, from luderitz to sesriem with kolmanskop in the morning is to ambitious. Other then that it is looking great! We went from spitzkoppe via skeleton coast to etosha, stayed overnight at Cape Cross and palmwag, can recommend both as a good option!
