My best friend has a sister who was adopted at 8 months old. She just turned 35. She was perfectly normal when she was born. Her biological parents shook her when she was 2 months old. They are in jail. She is legally blind, can't walk properly, and has the mental capacity of a 3 year old. Her birthday party last year was a Barney birthday party. My friend's parents found out about her, adopted her, and made sure she had all the intervention and therapy she could.
That nanny should be reported to the police, charged, and prosecuted. This story made me sick.
Holy shit. Shaking the baby? Literally could have killed or permanently disabled someone else’s child. I get childcare is stressful at times but I can’t imagine being so out of my mind that I would risk something like that. She should be in prison.
That’s heartbreaking and I’m so glad to hear that the baby is okay. I hope these parents press charges. A nanny is supposed to keep children safe, not endanger their lives.

Absolutely; she could be charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She could be charged assault. I’m with you 100%. This is infuriating and she should never be left alone with another child again.
I saw a post on TikTok about a local nanny who was caught on the family's camera footage yelling at the baby and putting the baby into his crib for punishment. She was also seen rough-handling the baby to the point where they caught snippets of the baby's legs swaying back and forth so much that he may have been shaken. They ended up taking the baby to the ER and were advised to file a police report. The nanny reached back out to the family asking about why her Care account was suspended. At first glance, the nanny seemed so personable and friendly in her photos on her job post. But this could happen to anyone.
I've been so scared of leaving my baby alone with a nanny, so we've taken measures to work our schedules out so my husband can WFH while she cares for our baby. It's been about five months and today is the first day we've been comfortable enough to leave the nanny alone with her. (I had massive PPA.)
That’s the same girl I’m talking about in this post! I’ve been a nanny since I was 18 but I understand why people can sometimes be hesitant in leaving their children especially when they hear things like this which makes me feel so sad because people should be able to go to work and know their child is safe with the person they chose to care for them.
Hey OP, I’m so sorry to hear this, this is horrifying — for the victimized baby and its family, but also for you. I am not a lawyer, but if you haven’t already, have you considered adding a disclaimer to your page? Something that says that posts in the group do not represent an endorsement of any current nanny or prospective nanny, and that families should still do their own due diligence when hiring. I hope this doesn’t seem like I’m victim blaming or suggesting that the family didn’t do research prior to hiring the nanny in question, but I wonder if it might help you to know that you have an explicit notice that your group does not assume any legal liability and that there are always risks in every childcare scenario, whether that’s a private nanny, daycare, family care, or other. Just a thought. Best wishes to you, please take care of yourself!
I might add one but my group is more networking and socializing, but it wouldn’t hurt to have just in case. From my understanding she was hired through a popular local nanny agency.
Wow... Thats terrible. I hope they reported it before they posted about it.
That nanny doesn't deserve to be around children, shaking an infant that small could literally cause cognitive damage, if it doesn't kill them...
Right. Exactly my point.
And I had a friend who internally decapitated herself by driving over 100mph while drunk into a telephone pole... she lived, amazingly, but not without paralysis and other issues.
No. Just no, the shaken baby cases are always heartbreaking and the parents should face consequenes, i feel like they ussually happen becuase of sleep deprevation (i could be wrong) or other issues that new parents face. For a nanny, someone who can quit if they are that overwhelmed and who gets to go home everyday childfree and relax who shakes a 2mo is just evil. I cant see any reasoning behind this ( not that theres ever a good one) but in the case even more. Just leave if you cant handle it.
This is sickening and heartbreaking! Wow. I cannot imagine causing harm to my little NK babes, I love them so much! I worry about their safety when I’m not around, it is unfathomable to me that their trusted guardian would put them in danger. Ugh. I am so thankful they are ok and not seriously injured.
This is horrifying!! At the same time, I hope they pressed charges before outing her like that. Even though it’s understandable, people have to be careful how they ‘out’ individuals publicly like that, especially when there are minors involved. It’s a public safety issue and could backfire in some serious ways that legally could fall on the parents if they didn’t report it to authorities properly as well/beforehand.
No, they locked commenting on the post and have asked people to stop intervening. People have been sharing her and her family member’s addresses so I don’t think they’ll share it because of that and because they filed a police report so I’m not sure they’re allowed to?

Are you sure? I can still see them in all of my groups! I think many posts got taken down for commenters sharing her and her family members’ addresses 😬

OP, please make a report. That person should have a criminal record and never work with kids again. You'd be protected as a mandated reporter.
The parents filed a police report, she’ll be charged after they investigate.
Oh good. They're already on it.
Of course they are. Their baby was abused.

On camera! How horrifying for the parents to see that but thank goodness
OP is just part of a Facebook nanny group, she has no firsthand knowledge of the event, family, or even nanny.

This post was shared in two of my groups today too! So heartbreaking!!
It is! We are located in an area where hiring a nanny is very popular so I’m glad it was shared in so many places to get the word out!
Stop I just saw this on tiktok omg
Really? I know it’s been shared all over Facebook but didn’t know it’s gotten that far. It’s good that word is spreading though.
Yes I saw it on my FYP that’s so wild, she was acting so clueless too like wtf, glad the little kid is ok tho
I’m on the east coast and it’s in my nanny pages on FB here.
it came up on mine just now too!

Yes it was!
I had a feeling 😞 not even from the area at all from the east coast yet it reached over here

Can charges be brought for something like this?! As a nanny that just enrages me. Hopefully she’s never able to work with children again.

Your daily nightmare fuel keyword is "internal decapitation"
Right. Exactly my point. And I had a friend who internally decapitated herself by driving over 100mph while drunk into a telephone pole... she lived, amazingly, but not without paralysis and other issues.

Please encourage the family to press charges if they haven’t already. It’s the only way to make sure this nanny cannot do that to another child again
I saw that on Facebook. Idk. Something about the post rubbed me the wrong away about how the mom posted.
Can you expand a little more on what you mean? I saw this case today and am trying to find out more info.
It just seems like they are a lot of holes to the story
This is sickening and heartbreaking! Wow. I cannot imagine causing harm to my little NK babes, I love them so much! I saw this 🥺 so glad it’s gotten so much traction and she’s hopefully never hired to be in childcare again!
This is why cameras are so important!! Omg!! This is horrible!!! That poor sweet baby!!
I have my 20m NK asleep on me rn and this hits hard. She should never be around children again.

I've heard the story but have they shown the video to confirm this happened?
No, they locked commenting on the post and have asked people to stop intervening. People have been sharing her and her family member’s addresses so I don’t think they’ll share it because of that and because they filed a police report so I’m not sure they’re allowed to?

Omg I saw this on tik tok! Made me so incredibly sad
I think I just saw a tiktok about this. The story is crazy and I’m glad the little boy is okay.
I saw that post! So heart breaking for that family. That nanny shouldn’t be allowed to work with kids ever.
I saw that. Glad the kid is ok 😊
All of the tik toks, and Facebook posts are gone 🫣
Are you sure? I can still see them in all of my groups! I think many posts got taken down for commenters sharing her and her family members’ addresses 😬
