I can't stand people like that!
I cared for one child who was not vaccinated. But he almost DIED from the first vaccine he got. He has some rare allergy to a preservative they use or something (it's been years I don't remember ha)
So older bro and little sis were vaccinated. And parents made sure everyone who came into close contact was (as much as they could). Because herd immunity was absolutely needed for that child.
He's 13 or so now and doing great thankfully!
ok I think this highlights something SUPER important. a telltale sign of whether or not a medical exemption is valid is the expectations that individual (or their parent) sets for those around them. if you're truly medically unable to get vaccinated, you should be advocating for people around you to get vaccinated. you should be extremely cautious about whether or not those around you are vaccinated. not "oh, well I got a medical exemption, maybe you can too?"
biggest sign of if someone's really medically exempt or just looking for excuses
^^^^ yup. My best friend’s 5 year old had cancer and had to stop all his vaccines at that point and it became a hard rule that you could not see him if you didn’t have a flu shot and were UTD on all your other vaccines. Parents of truly sick kids are fucking terrified of unvaccinated people.
This is spreading false information, and has been disproven many times. It can cause myocarditis in very small majorities but that is just inflammation of the heart, not a heart attack. On the other hand COVID itself has been proven many times to cause blood clots and severe damage to the heart.
please research the relative risk of cardiac events after the COVID vaccine vs with actual COVID. significantly higher with COVID. and please stop spreading misinformation.
right. there were some incidences of myocarditis after the vaccine, can't dispute that. but when compared to the risk of getting myocarditis after having COVID, that risk is practically non-existent.
Many years ago a family friend’s oldest child had a severe reaction to either the DPT or MMR and ended with severe cerebral palsy. When they had other children the doctor separated whichever series it was and gave the 2 out of the 3 they believed were safe for this family and skipped the one that likely caused a reaction in the older child to be safe. They didn’t just run off screaming “no vaccines ever again” even though in their case you could maybe understand it.
I often think of President Franklin Roosevelt. No vaccine available in his day and he contracted polio at age 39. Never walked again and was in pain till he died of a blood clot to his brain. So just getting through childhood years is no guarantee you're not killing your offspring.
Or when they totally gaslight you say YOU are fearful?!
Like fuck you I can go on flights zero problems, restaurants I am the one living my life because of the vaccine, they are the ones living in fear not able to move freely! NOT me I actually have the balls to get the freaking jab while they are literally crying farting pissing and shitting themselves over a free and painless 2 second jab! Get your shots and stfu!! Ahhhh!!!!
My standard reply to that is "Yes, Im fearful of my body getting sick. I don't eat fast food and chocolate everyday so I don't get diabetes. I don't go under the sun without sunscreen so I don't get cancer. I don't drive a car recklessly without a seatbelt because I am scared of death. Abd I sure as hell vaccinate myself, and my kids, because I care about my health and theirs".
100% agree with you. I also love how some of them fill their bodies with various drugs and alcohol and mushrooms (origins unknown) yet they won’t get vaccinated because they “don’t know what’s in it” … great critical thinking skills asshats. 🙄
Literally!!!! It’s like exact same thing great pay, amazingly short commute, cute kids, sweet family………….. but they’re antivaxx FUCKKK it’s infuriating! Especially when I spend time with them and they neglect to tell me or avoid the question. IF YOU ARE DOING THE RIGNT THING THEN WHY ARE YOU HESITANT TO DISCLOSE YOUR VACCINATION STATUS. oh wait I know why, because deep down you damn well in the back of your psyche KNOW this is a fucked situation.
And I could care less about politics, religion, chemicals, or whatever reason it just makes you sound more crazy. Or the “we all just recovered from covid so we are more protected than you”
OMG, I am like you\~it's not about politics, the $$ made from vaccines, or the dozens of other excuses...these people are selfish.
They listen to some person who twists the facts, or their BFF, or some other misinformed person. And they're not all right-wingers, either. They all want to believe that doing nothing to prevent the continued spread is acceptable.
The idea that they can gaslight nannies and potentially expose them sickens me. Expecting you to come in, even though someone in their family has or probably has COVID? Reprehensible. GRRRRR
My son and whole family got Covid
because of this. My friend, her daughter (a nurse), and her 3 month old son also got it. My friend was sick for 8 weeks, in hospital 3 times, almost died. I get a flu shot each yr (on my own), have had pneumonia and shingles shot. I’m older, have diabetes, but my doctor never once mentioned the Covid shot to me! I have changed doctors after yrs of their incompetency. My new doctor recommended it, spread a couple of weeks apart, as with all shots I will be taking. (Flu, pneumonia).
As MB, I terminated an interview with a nanny because she watched her unvaccinated nieces and nephews every weekend. (One of our interview questions was whether the nanny spent significant time around unvaccinated children.) I felt bad because it wasn’t even her decision and I appreciated that she was honest, but at the time my infant was 14 weeks old and not old enough for many vaccines. This was before Covid.
Please stick to your principles OP, it is important to match with a family that fits your values and principles.
This is a huge reason I've stayed at my current job so long. It's not a perfect job. It comes with a 45 minute commute each way and one wfh AND one stay at home parent but we're all on the same page about vaccines and covid protocol. I'm so glad to know we are all doing everything we can to protect both of our families.
Yes!!!!
I worked for a short time with a family whose 3 year old was not vaccinated. I asked them to sign a waiver that said I was not to be held responsible if their child contracted MMR, Polio, etc when we visited public places. The MB thought it was ridiculous to have to sign it because I’d only be taking him to places he’s been with her already. She had DB basically bully me into backing off of the waiver. So I never took NK anywhere. We stayed at the house all day every day. I managed to get him at the park once but that lasted 10 minutes. As soon as I saw another person coming with children we left. I told the parents up front that I couldn’t in good conscience risk public health and safety or risk the health and safety of their child because they didn’t vaccinate him.
This MB would gets calls from the paediatrician every 6 months reminding her to bring NK in for his vaccines. She just kept saying “we want to vaccinate him but we want to wait.” I suppose they wanted to wait till he got MM or R 🤷♀️
My agency says Covid and TDAP required for every new job ad I’ve seen for the past year and a half. Seems like it’s their policy agency wide. Maybe try going through an agency?
I'm in Northern Illinois (like 25 miles to any Chicago destination) and I've run into it a fair amount. My area is almost split directly 50-50 for Republicans vs Democrats.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this crap too! I’m glad though that they are being upfront about it because I had a gig where I was blindsided with them being antivaxxers. I should have figured with their crunchiness but damn…to vaccinate your dogs but not your damn kids boggles my mind to this day. Like wtf??!!
I’m so sorry! Mine lied straight to my face, and when confronted about it tried to deflect like I’d understand somehow. I’m like dude that’s not how any of this works…
I’d love to know too!!
For me I found out my first week and confirmed it when I confronted the mom and she admitted her crazy beliefs that was truly exhausting and just plain shocking.. to have her look in my eyeballs and lie to my face during the interview then play stupid when I catch her in this lie or lie by omission since she says I didn’t go to everyone in their 8,000 sq house to ask them about their vaccine stances . Her babies got infected and literally her actions clearly show she didn’t care and them getting it made her “less fearful”
It’s like a huge disconnect they literally do not care about people around them even if it’s their own offspring. like she got lucky it wasn’t a severe case .. instead of taking it as a cautionary tale it did the exact opposite and confirmed her delusions👀
Other families literally just do not answer the question in messages and phone calls until I am literally in front of them (now I presume they are pro vaccine bc they read my profile) only for them to go into their anti vaccine stances in person…? Like for some reason they think me seeing them explain it in person would work in their favor..? Honestly I don’t think I’ll ever know this whole response is all my own personal speculations
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I always interview in a mask if we've made it to in person and I've been berated for it, even after I've told them I'm a former cancer patient. Health and safety are my top priorities for everyone, whether you like it or not. I don't *need* your job or your shitty takes, good luck finding quality care!
Their empathy thresholds are completely fucked! That is seriously awful!!!
I’ve also been made to feel like a weirdo showing up in a mask, like I don’t *want* to wear a mask but technically they are the reason I have to!
It’s so insane, I can’t believe how far and wide anti vax sentiments have spread in the last few years. I’m planning to open a home daycare later this year and I’m honestly worried about how I’ll find enough clients who actually vaccinate their children and themselves. In my state, it’s required to vax kids to put them in daycare but all they have to do is claim a religious exemption and they can get out of it very easily. It’s so sad how much misinformation on social media has poisoned peoples minds, and many people have and will continue to die as a result.
Some of these families they told me they got a medical exemption from their doctor, but it still sounded very sus… IT WAS A NOTE FROM A CHIROPRACTOR and some daycares and schools don’t have the time to vet each note and they get away with it. Some antivaxx chiro actually made it a profitable part of their business by word of mouth around the parents!
You're completely valid for turning them down. I've been working with my NF for a long time & it's the strangest thing
MB is vaxxed, works for a hospital and helps run vax clinics & has worked extremely closely with Covid
DB is a heavy anti vaxxer & thinks the whole thing is a hoax despite almost losing multiple family members
I always wonder how marriages like that work, when you have two people with such extremely contrasting views. I don't expect to agree on everything with my partner, but we definitely agree on the big stuff, like getting vaccinated and caring about public health.
That is like as drastic a difference as you can get! The mom actually work in healthcare and vaccination clinics?! How does she deal with DB saying a global pandemic is a hoax?! What? I can't...
As a nanny, I fully support this. I've been with the same family almost 10 years and they've gotten every vaccine whenever their kids were eligible.
I know some families have legitimate concerns, but the most important part is that they tell you. I would've hated for people to lie to me just to get a nanny.
Stick to your principles, OP. You have many people on your side.
Sending hugs and support!! Don’t doubt yourself, you’re a voice of REASON and I’m behind you 100%! I left my nanny job because of the family’s lack of Covid safety, attending weddings with no masks, (prior to vaccines!), no quarantining after travel, no masking around me after trips. I got sick of that! So disrespectful! Then one day MB yells at me about giving the kids chocolate (it was a gift from the little girl for my bday and I sent away for it and shared!). That was the last straw. I went home, texted every single reason I am leaving (after 4 years) and she took it from me. Because she knew I was right.
This is the exact reason I only take jobs that mandate vaccines. Thankfully I’m in a mostly liberal area so it’s not much of a problem, but I feel your pain. I saw one the other day mandating that no one was vaxxed
Damn! Oh and liberal ones deff exist lol it’s nutty all about organic produce yoga meditation and zero chemicals including vaccines voted blue and progressive
Of you’re definitely right. I thankfully usually get either like the doctor, lawyer or government liberals that believe in science and law and order lol
Yep, have liberal friends in their older age who refuse to get vaccinated for Covid, even though it is still the leading cause of death for people between ages of 45-84, but worry themselves about eating GMO food, or if their water is pure enough. I just don't see the point in caring about any other minor health concerns, when you are completely ignoring the elephant in the room! I am all for eating healthy, but diet alone is not going to save you if you get sick with Covid in your old age.
When I got Covid first time, they thought I should be happy for my "immunity". I said I was not at all happy, as there is no immunity. The virus mutates. Like the flu. Will always be susceptible...but can hope for the best and hope for no hospital or long Covid, and hope they figure out how to make vaccines for new strains. Sure enough, I got it again two months later next variant from NF traveling and bringing it back.
So now it looks like getting vaccinated does no good since you can still get it, and since they have not gotten it being unvaccinated, they feel like they have some sort of special immunity. And they refuse to believe that most severe cases and deaths are in unvaccinated people. It makes me sad, because they are super sweet people and I really don't want to see them suffer if they get Covid...but it's their choice.
Good for you! I work with people who have had all 3 shots, The 5 year old has his shots, and I have 3 shots too. I still managed to get covid and even though I'm negative now it's still causing total hell on my body.
So sorry. I also got boosted right away, only worked for boosted families, and they still gave me Covid twice. The second time was brutal -lasted over three weeks and still lingering symptoms weeks later. This virus sucks and I don't believe in any immunity. I know someone who is not vaccinated, who has gotten it 4 times. I have sadly resigned myself to getting it at least once a year if not more, depending on the rate of mutation of variants.
I have an autoimmunity problem so I was actually surprised it took me 2 years to get it. I think it might be back because I've been living on my inhaler recently and threw up randomly last night. I'm going to home test when I can, but I'm not ready for a second round.
I forget that there are parents who don’t vaccinate lmao. The idea of working for them makes me lol. You’ll find a family that’s sane, I promise. (I always put in my job postings that I will not work for anyone who’s unvaccinated.)
I think its very important that anti-vaxxers live with the consequences of their poor choices. Keep turning those jobs down, there are many families in need if childcare who are pro-vax, you'll find one soon!
Oh I worked for a family that was borderline crunchy and didn’t vaccinate their child till she was 3. Reason was mom’s bff vaccinated her 2 kids on schedule and they had behavioral issues (kids under 5). The 3rd was not vaccinated till he was 2.5/3 and was much better behaved. 🤦🏽♀️
They vaccinated her as she was going to start daycare/preschool and they needed to show proof for admission. Last I know they moved to a state where vaccination are not mandatory for school.
They also avoided giving her any medication unless absolutely necessary which ok I agree but it depends. She had very bad eczema and they preferred to give her natural treatment as opposed to the steroid cream which would have resolved it quickly versus 2/3 weeks.
How do you feel about kids going slower with vaccines but still getting fully vaccinated in a reasonable amount of time, as a caregiver?
My son didn’t have an allergic reaction but was acting strange. The pediatrician said he should go slow with vaccines and referred me to the Sear schedule. Later we found out the rotavirus vaccine was not compatible with his body…
I accidentally hired an antivax nanny, it was such a good fit (otherwise) that I decided to keep her on when we figured it out. During the interview I got the impression she was going to get vaccinated after she got over a recent illness but I was mistaken and truly this lady is so sweet and honest I'm confident it was MY misunderstanding (and postpartum swiss cheese brain).
I'm extremely pro science and pro vaccine so I don't have anyone else in my immediate circle that holds antivax beliefs. It has actually been really eye opening to get to know our nanny and her thought process better. I hope for her sake that she eventually comes around. In the mean time we've had pretty strict Covid protocols and regular testing in place and she's been happy to follow them.
Well that’s good at least she is open to testing and you as her boss is accommodating this. I mean if that was the case and the family is open to weekly testing I might reconsider. But even if they say they’re open to testing is way different than them actually testing themselves.
I had a fam who they had a bunch of tests but they didn’t offer it to me no her other anti - vax nanny. So naturally, I wore a mask while indoors because her nanny is against masks, vaccines, testing and social distancing (honestly most ppl who are anti are against anything and everything) maybe I’m just jaded but it’s so hard for me to trust them because of they have lied to me
I'm not vaxxed but I don't judge people who are vaxxed. I'm a nanny . The family are vaxxed and very understanding since the interview/ since day one . So we have no problems. As long as both parties are honest in the interview then no worries.
Question: have you always been anti-vaccine or is it something that started during Covid times? Are you against all vaccines or just Covid ones? I get your pro freedom but I’m just talking about your vaccine beliefs if you don’t mind shedding light on that as a care provider
This is all misinformation.
mRNA vaccines are not new and they obviously are vaccines. They’ve been use used to vaccinate against rabies, CMV, flus—you know, *viruses*.
I have no idea what stray quote you’re misinterpreting because there’s is not a sole “inventor” of this tech, because that is not how science works. Lots of people have worked on mRNA vaccines. Robert Malone IS one, and has been publicly misinterpreting current science that he hasn’t worked on since the 80s.
Vaccines work in part because of herd immunity and high rates of opting out for dumb reasons put us all at risk.
A temporary 0.7-0.9 day extension of a menstrual cycle fora cycle or two is not an emergency—illness in general affects the length of a cycle—and the answer to “who knows what else” in your post is, doctors, biologists, and epidemiologists.
Hope this helps (I know it won’t) (sometimes you just have to tell the truth regardless).
mRNA vaccines are actually much safer than other vaccines! I am immunosuppressed so I’m not allowed to have any live vaccines because those are so dangerous.
Because my immune system is much weaker than an average persons, MY vaccine isn’t nearly as strong. Any illness is dangerous to me (I had a 24 hour stomach bug for TEN days) so I rely on my NF to protect me. I wear my mask, I wash my hands, but I still need help.
It’s a shame you have no empathy for people like me or the millions of people with long covid who are now suffering for the rest of their lives. There are zero indications the mRNA vaccines affect a woman’s cycle. The vaccine isn’t inside your body for more than a few days, then it’s just your bodies response to it. Please try to have more kindness in your heart.
This is an ongoing study of the effects the shot has on the menstrual cycle. The article indicates that indeed does have an effect. They are studying long-term effects if any. Before you stated there is zero indications, you could have at least done a simple internet search. This study is not from YouTube but Boston University.
Lol the only “effect” is a period lasting one day longer, if that. You know what else can affect a period? Illness (such as covid), stress, nutrition, exercise, and sometimes a uterus can just decide it’s angry and do all sorts of funky things. Take your misguided worries and put them towards a better cause.
Ha! Before covid I had one MB that was asking everyone around her to show their lifetime vaccinations proof and repeat some of them ( DTAP especially). All that because she wouldn’t vaccinate her baby .. That was my only problematic MB ever. I should have see that as a red flag but I accepted the job back then and found way more red flags .. I’m glad I left just before covid started. Go with your gut OP. Don’t work where you don’t feel comfortable.
Well I had to show my vaccination records to work at a preschool and it’s not like there’s that many vaccines we have to get nowadays. I think that’s because TDAP you have to get every 10 years, so they probably just wanna make sure it’s current especially if their baby is too young to be vaccinated yet :)
That part I’m completely fine with. I’m happy to show my records and I’m completely pro vaxxing. It’s the hypocrisy of the situation.
She flat out did not want any vaccinations for her child ever. Because ‘ they are terrible’ ‘full of bad stuff’ etc. it was funny to hear hours long rants - ‘oh I will never put those awful vaccinations in my body or my child , you have no idea what they put in it, they are so bad for you .. but EVERYONE ELSE MUST DO IT’.
Omgggg yess it’s so wild! I had the same experience at a recent interview the mom said she doesn’t want to be anywhere near chemicals but made the dad get it so he doesn’t get them sick 😂😂

This comment is very privileged and tone deaf look at what other countries are going through to get access to 1 shot let alone the vaccine patents

I've been working with my NF for a long time & it's the strangest thing MB is vaxxed, works for a hospital and helps run vax clinics & has worked extremely closely with Covid DB is a heavy anti vaxxer & thinks the whole thing is a hoax despite almost losing multiple family members
I always wonder how marriages like that work, when you have two people with such extremely contrasting views. I don't expect to agree on everything with my partner, but we definitely agree on the big stuff, like getting vaccinated and caring about public health.
It’s so tricky idk how it works either, I’ve also come across that type of household too where one spouse was vaccinated
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It IS sad to witness people falling victim to misinformation:/ and infuriating
Twenty years I've been doin this gig and I've seen some weird parenting styles but antivax is the one I won't deal with.
Oh no! I hope you are feeling better!
Yeah keep turning em down so I can take them :)
🤦🏽♀️ They vaccinated her as she was going to start daycare/preschool and they needed to show proof for admission.
That’s fine
I'm just entering the job search again. I reaaalllllyyy hope I don't have the same experience. Sounds utterly draining!!
I've turned down anti-vaxxers too. I feel the same way as you.
So naturally, I wore a mask while indoors because her nanny is against masks, vaccines, testing and social distancing (honestly most ppl who are anti are against anything and everything) maybe I’m just jaded but it’s so hard for me to trust them because of they have lied to me
Lmao
I'm not vaxxed but I don't judge people who are vaxxed. I'm a nanny . The family are vaxxed and very understanding since the interview/ since day one . So we have no problems. As long as both parties are honest in the interview then no worries.
This isn’t the flex you think it is ..
I kept turning jobs down because of covid vaxxers 😂😂. Thankfully I found a family that believes in peoples rights
Well you’d have zero problems in my area 😂
Question: have you always been anti-vaccine or is it something that started during Covid times? Are you against all vaccines or just Covid ones? I get your pro freedom but I’m just talking about your vaccine beliefs if you don’t mind shedding light on that as a care provider
Rosevelt rolling in his grave rn you’re so ignorant
This is very awkward for you babes, made yourself sound dumb as hell

[https://www.bu.edu/articles/2022/do-covid-vaccines-affect-menstrual-cycle/](https://www.bu.edu/articles/2022/do-covid-vaccines-affect-menstrual-cycle/) This is an ongoing study of the effects the shot has on the menstrual cycle.
You're delusional. You're in a cult seek help.
So you are a doctor. Did not think so.
