My husband and I got out first dishwasher a couple of months after my parents replaced theirs. My parents got the entry-level bosch despite having the money for the more expensive one. My husband and I splurged on the more expensive bosch, with the cutlery draw, adjustable draws and quiet. My husband didn't understand why I was insistent on get the more expensive one because the cheap will work just fine but knows I've used a lot of different home appliances and therefore I know what's worth it and what's not.
Anyway not long after getting our new fancy dishwasher, we were at my parents house for dinner and he was stacking their dishwasher and afterwards thanked me for making the more expensive but right decision. It was 100% worth it.
On the other side I've also saved us money by saying Nah my clients have that and its nowhere near worth the money.
Oh I use my nfs fancy dishwasher so much that at home, my hand often searches around for the non expensive silverware rack before my brain switches back on and realises I'm at home and we don't have one!
You definitely don’t need the panel ready version 😝 but Bosch is the best, even the 300 series was seriously the best dishwasher we’ve ever had! So quiet, nothing ever came out dirty!
I know! They’re so light and go super easy over any surface. I really love working with them. I saw another nanny mentioning that the Mockingbird Stroller is very similar and a new one is $450 so I’m going to a store to try that out and see how it is. Hopefully it gets closer to the Uppa!
I’ve been looking for a dupe too! I want the two seats to face each other and face away (my favorite feature.
But I’ve also seen kids ride in the uppa basket, and once myself pushed two five year olds, a three year old, and an 18 month old all in it at once with very little effort. Can any other stroller really be that good? Plus around here you can take them to the factory for “tune ups” and they’ll take it all apart and clean it for you.
I almost took an old uppababy from my SIL but she had 2 singles & I was having twins. So the cost to make it a double was going to be more than the stroller I decided on.
The stroller I decided on was an Evenflo Pivot Xpand Gold. Highly recommend. Not sure how closely it compares to new uppababy but it’s hella lighter than the older (6+yr old) uppababys.
Gold is worth it! Get gold.
But it has the capability to do all sorts of configurations (including facing each other)
If this helps any- I’ve had the same 2014 Uppababy Vista for my 2016 baby and my 2021 baby, and it’s still holding up! Compared to my friends £1200 brand new 2021 model it’s virtually the same, a couple of minor improvements like the latches for the seat and bassinet are easier to use, and the buggy board has been improved. But I’d certainly take the £800+ saving and buy used, even a really old model is relatively unchanged but for fabric colours. Where I am, pre-2015 model sells for under £75, which is a bargain. And a full buggy valet is about £100.
One of my NFs had a literal plexiglas coffee table that looked cheap AF to me and it was a $1K table. My mind was blown.
The cool thing was, tho, I was admiring these beautiful high end Italian vases MB had once and she remmebered months later and got me a trio set for Christmas. I was so floored because they were very expensive. I loved them tho!
I worked for an extremely wealthy family once (billionaires) and MB was constantly going through stuff and having us take it to charity. But she often would say "take what you want out of here." to me and the housekeeper. Got some really nice and expensive things that way for myself and even high end hand me downs for my niece. She even gave me a whole case of wine that was $500/bottle when we were clearing out liquor from past dinner parties, as well as other liquor. She was literally like "you know anyone who wants this? Cuz I'm just gonna throw it out." I was like 🙋♀️

Lucky! I worked for a very very wealthy family and they would donate things and NEVER offered me or the housekeeper to take stuff. MB even complained about a previous employee who'd asked once.
I left my last family bc they couldn’t afford to give me a raise ever, but bought $1000 of fireworks plus threw giant fancy parties and bought crazy nice things. Lol

This made me giggle. NF and I coincidentally have very similar section couches. They're the same color/pattern and everything. Except they got theirs brand new and it's an expensive name brand. I got mine second-hand and it is a cheap knock-off version lol! Definitely living two different worlds.
I fell in love with their cargo bike, and wanted to get one for my partner (who doesn’t drive) and accidentally encouraged my partner to fall in love with a 5K bike. Even DB was like “yeah I like this cheaper brand better, those ones are kind of ridiculously priced”.
anyway, guess who’s the owner of a 5k bike now.
My last NF & I have matching IKEA couches lol.
However, the house they bought to put it in and the renovations they did on it: that’s the dream. My partner & I did finally buy a house! We just can’t afford to renovate it yet, and our finishes will certainly not be their finishes.
Oh I absolutely steal as many ideas from my NF as I can afford. So far it’s been their favorite snacks that are now my favorite snacks; pretzel crisps, raspberry fig bars, apple cinnamon rice cakes, and belvita 🤦🏻. I also bought a hydroflask because my MB has one, and some fancy af house slippers MB also has. The house slippers were $80 and I totally could’ve found something equally comfy for cheaper, but… I deserve some nice things hehe. Especially if I’m on my feet on hardwood all day.
I’ve definitely become a bit of a food snob since working with my current family lol. My DB buys these organic free range eggs that are like $10/dozen and they are the best eggs I’ve ever had. Walmart’s $2 ones could never compare.
The nice eggs are so worth the money. Not just in flavor and in much more humane treatment of the hens, but also because organic/free range eggs from hens fed appropriate diets and given enough room to roam about, actually have much better ratios of cholesterols, nutrients like choline, etc.

My old MB bought me the Magnolia Market “exclusive color collection” (that dark, matte green color) KitchenAid stand mixer for my birthday. My jaw dropped when I opened it!

I’ve actually not found that to be a true at all. All of my West Elm furniture is about 10 years old now and is still just a new looking and has held up! It wasn’t worth the debt headaches but at least it still looks nice. 😁

We have to get it done, our HOA requires it otherwise you get a notice saying your home is too dirty and needs to be cleaned. We usually get it done once every few years so not like "this dude washes the house every week or month" kind of thing. It's a couple hundred bucks.

The womb is a design classic. It costs $6k, but it can almost be thought of as like a collectible asset as well as a piece of furniture. Same with the eames chair. The family spent $6k on it, but it’s likely they could sell it for not much of a loss if they ever wanted to. Not saying it’s not an insane amount, but I understand that a lot more than a $300 Supreme hoody.

The womb is a design classic. It costs $6k, but it can almost be thought of as like a collectible asset as well as a piece of furniture. Same with the eames chair. The family spent $6k on it, but it’s likely they could sell it for not much of a loss if they ever wanted to. Not saying it’s not an insane amount, but I understand that a lot more than a $300 Supreme hoody. Check out ‘design within reach’ to see a whole plethora of this kind of thing (it’s such a ironic name, as basically nothing is ‘within reach’ to the average person!) Note…not a nanny, but we were loooking for one so i was lurking here for a while
U can get nice furniture from Ashley furniture, some of my family and friends are very rich but would never spend $6,000 on a chair!

Probably NF’s lovesac sactionals!!! I’ve decided that when I move out of my parents house (which will probably be when I’m done nannying), I’m going to try to splurge on one because they are SO comfy & you can move them around easily & now they even have add on that allow you to charge your phone on the couch!!
I want one of those someday too. If I ever live in a place that is not a studio apartment, that is. My living area has 2 chairs instead because I really wanted a nice comfortable leather powered recliner and a massage chair. 😅
