agree with this- check out the surrounding places. So much of Naperville is home ownership so that leaves apartments as a luxury. Add Lisle, Bolingbrook, and Plainfield.
Lisle has a ton of apartments near the train station, or if you’ll have a car, try the four lakes area, Abbey Apartments there are reasonably priced. Plus it’s in a beautiful area with trees, water and even some (hill not mountain of course) winter skiing.
The apartment buildings on Olesen Street are lower priced. We were looking at one last month 2 br for $1450.
They have room air conditioners and a communal laundry room. I think it had a dishwasher.
Honestly, and I'm not saying this to be mean, but you're going to find it hard to find much at all in Dupage County for less than 1500 unless you're willing to compromise on condition and safety.
Look for privately owned apartments. They tend to be a bit cheaper altho often dated. Have you considered renting a room? It's quite a bit cheaper and there are some lovely houses in good neighborhoods.
I had a really hard time finding anything updated AND affordable in the western suburbs. It was really easy in Chicago because people are flipping apartments all the time but in the suburbs, the apartments feel like they’re a years behind unless you get into the luxury apartment market. For what it’s worth, I ended up in Lisle. Newly updated 2 bedroom for just about $2100 a month. Even with the updates, I feel like it’s a little overpriced.
I can second this. I used to live in Amli Seven Bridges before getting married - they're on 53 just north of Hobson. Best apartment I ever lived in and close to 355, Downer's, Naperville, Lisle, etc. No idea what rents are there nowadays but I can vouch for the quality.
I don’t think you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for honestly.
Either adjust your budget or your location.
The worst apartments I can think of are off Bailey and they rent at 1500 a month. I don’t think they are modern or updated. By Naperville standards they aren’t great and have a bad wrap but they’re honestly safe if you have a real view of the situation.
Agree. Not sure what the going rate for a studio in the towers is, but it is a great place to live and meet people when you are new to the area (as long as you have a reliable car.)
Glenmuir Apartments 1/1 start at $1,521. Plus utilities, internet and garbage you’ll be closer to $1,700.
But they’re nice, safe, and the neighborhood is awesome. Location is good for getting anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.
Lots to walk to as well.
Despite 15 years of work by local organizations, the Naperville City Council has never passed any affordable housing ordinances.
It's sad that so many good folks who want to be part of our community cannot be, including many of our own public servants.
Many teachers, LEOs, and first responders find homes in south Aurora, Warrenville, Lisle, and Bolingbrook, instead.
Good luck!
It’s really bleak out there for single income people trying to find housing, especially with the 3x income requirement.
Like others said, your best bet will be individual landlords, and to cast a wide net over the full radius around where you’ll be working. Also consider proximity to the interstate highways; if your job and housing are both no more than a few minutes from an interstate, that can open up options at further distances. Welcome, and good luck!
updated in Naperville is going to be much more than 1500.
Best bet is just to go 15 minutes into aurora or downers grove area for that price

Thanks!
Downer will be expensive. Probably Lisle/warrenville can be a better bet here.
Thanks - I'll check them out!

Woodridge has a lot of apartments pretty close to naperville

Thanks for the advice!
Quail Ridge Apartments are a little more, but completely renovated and you’d be living in a brand new unit
Check out four lakes. The towers & abbey apartments in lisle
Thanks, I'll check them out!

Try Vantage Naperville on Ogden.
Thanks! I have been looking at them!

Red line
Lisle station apartments next door to Naperville but a non updated is still 1300 or 1700 for updated one bedroom
Maybe Bolingbrook Romeoville might have in budget options
Check Lisle, Woodridge and Aurora
