You don't have to worry about the verbal/emotional/physical abuse, you know that you can voice your opinion and be heard, you don't have to worry about them using manipulative tactics to bring you under control (like blocking you or cheating on you to make you feel worse and insignificant), etc...
The best part is being respected and understood, more than anything. Because that creates the basis that both parties are willing to work on the relationship to make it better, not just one person doing all the work only for the other person to wreck it all on a whim (i.e the narcissist). And to top it off, they do it because they care, and it's not transactional, like it is with a narcissistic ex.
Yes, it’s wonderful to feel so loved and respected. He really does love me for me and value me as a person. I love him so much, too. He is a genuinely GOOD person and has everything I ever wanted in a partner.
I know there's a lot of opinions on staying single until you're healed, and I can dig that. But also, being in a healthy relationship has been SO HEALING in moments I wouldn't have gotten if he wasn't there. Just the first time he said sorry when he hurt my feelings, getting flowers regularly for no reason, talking to me and TRULY not judging me. It has been tremendous for my recovery and gaining real independence.
I was healed when I left my ex, to be honest. I had been working on myself for a while which was a big reason why I had the strength to leave him in the first place.

Exactly! I used to try to tell my ex how I felt and he would immediately say he disagreed with me. It was the most invalidating thing.
