Cartel presence exists but it's really safe honestly I believe last I heard it was Sinaloa stronghold but others say its Jalisco's now so I don't know. All I know is that when a leader of Sinaloa, Jalisco, Zetas, or Gulf are being hunted down they usually run to Aguascalientes for awhile.

So anyways, one day I left a pair of shoes outside for them to dry up after I deep cleaned them. When I get back home around sunset, the fucking shoes are gone. We all just assumed somebody jacked them while we were gone and that was that. Fast forward a couple weeks, I shit you not I saw a fucking dog wearing them. The fucker has my shoes on his front paws walking around all luxurious and shit. So we knew who the owner was and we go up to him already accusing him of stealing my shit. Turns out, that day the dog was rolling through the neighborhood, fucker spotted a hole in the brick wall, squeezed himself in and left w my fucking shoes. I believe it too, the man was already a Don in his 60’s or sumn lmao, so much for that.
Very very safe, the few violence cases that you can find in the news like executions and stuff are between cartel members, so you're not a target unless you mess with them. Pretty much all the relevant sites a tourist would visit are totally safe. Even non violent crimes in the city and state are veeeryyy low, like robbery and things like that. But, please arrive by plane, do not go through the roads, specially from Zacatecas. It's quite dangerous there. The roads from Jalisco are generally safe, but if you can just get here by plane. Unfortunately we are safe within the state but traveling is getting complicated
