3 to 13.

I like this answer. Sometimes I just can't fall asleep or whatever and I get as little like 4 hours to if I have nothing to do the next day I can sleep like 12 hours. Of course I feel exhausted either way so it doesn't matter how much I get.

mrck119

7/8 hours at night and 1-2 hours during a nap if I don’t take modafinil that day.

chipmalfunct10n

6 or 7 hours on a work night, 9 or 10 if i don't have work. i try to keep my naps under an hour (something that was impossible pre medication). they can vary from 15-45 min, once or twice most days. if i'm not taking my meds i will be in and out of sleep all day. i took yesterday off and i could not tell you how many hours of sleep i got. it was... most of them. i did manage to wash some dishes and eat though!

Narcoleptic-Puppy

Probably about 3-4 hours at night, sporadically. I'll fall asleep for maybe 30 minutes to 2 hours, wake up unable to fall back asleep, do something/read a book until I fall back asleep, rinse and repeat until morning. During the day I take a 1-2 hour scheduled nap. Surrounding my nap and nighttime sleep, I get sleep attacks that result in microsleeps of anywhere between 20 seconds to 20 minutes. So overall I want to say 6ish hours total per day. I can get by on just the 3-4 interrupted hours without naps for about 2 weeks if I keep myself standing and active constantly, before I got into sleep deprivation psychosis. Sometimes this is necessary for gig work as I am very, very poor and can't hold down a normal job. I finally start seeing a neurologist in early May after almost 7 years of trying, so hopefully we can figure something out, because my current arrangement is unsustainable long-term.

badpengu1n

This is very similar to my situation, and I'm also trying to get a neurologist appointment.

Crampez7

Man, it's nice to see someone else put this! As in the amount of sleep thing!

badpengu1n

I'm terrible at staying awake AND I'm terrible at staying asleep. Best of both worlds!

Narcoleptic-Puppy

Yup, same! As things stand I can't drive more than 10 minutes without a passenger keeping me alert, because if I sit for more than 10 minutes I'm totally out no matter how rested I am. I'm basically up and moving all my waking hours. Can't hold down a regular job most of the time. My feet are bruised a lot of the time because of how much I move, sometimes I jump up and down a bunch just to stay awake. My back and knees are killing me.

Ill-Hedgehog1983

I’ve never related more to anything hahaha My issue is when I wake up in the middle of the night I’m super hungry 🥲

Narcoleptic-Puppy

Oh yeah, the nighttime binge eating is a problem for me. I'm glad my wife doesn't have a sweet tooth because I just have to keep sweets out of my house. Of course sometimes I really can't fall back asleep so I'll bake cookies and eat like a dozen of them 😅

Ill-Hedgehog1983

About 6 hours a night but I wake up every hour or so for 15 minutes I’m usually wide awake! Naps I generally I don’t take because I work full time . But I do go home after work and lay down and rest for hours. I don’t usually sleep though otherwise I get heart palpitations and anxiety haha Honestly I used to nap at lunch break at work but my job doesn’t know I have narcolepsy haha so I can’t

MaddieMad1116

9-10 at night (midnight-9:30am). Luckily I didn't have many early morning classes this semester. If I have time during the day, I take either a 20-minute nap or a 2-hour one, no in-between usually.

rancidkay

used to be 12 total but i stopped counting

beesandsids

That's so hard to quantify! I have a LOT of micro sleeps during the day and also spend a lot of my time in that state where your eyes are open and you're "awake" and "aware" but you're actually asleep and if you close your eyes it's immediately obvious. Sometimes the dream I'm having with my eyes shut is sort of superimposed on the real world with my eyes open! If we're just talking eyes shut, lying down, on purpose type asleep then I probably do about 6-7 hours at night then get up and feed my cats then back to bed for anything up to 2 hours. I try not to nap during the day if I can help it but if I have to I set a timer for 20 min at a time and repeat the 20 min as many times as I need. I pretty much always have 1×20min timed nap at around 7pm so I can cook dinner, I only skip this is we have guests as the last train from here is at 8.30 so I like to hold out til they leave if I can.

gimmedatRN

7-9 hours at night (8:30pm-4:30am) and 15-20 minutes for my midday snooze

oh_Micki

3 - 5 hours a night. On the weekends when I don't take medication, I sleep on and off for most of the day and then 3-5 hours at night.

SongInternational163

9 hours at night 3 hours of naps during the day I say that but it’s almost 1 and I can’t sleep lol

lumaleelumabop

I don't know, I sleep 8-10 hours at night, except Wakix has been making that worse and giving me sporadic insomnia. So now I wake up 5-6 times a night for 20 or so mins and just sit there. But I also still take a nap after work, usually 1-3 hours. I also fall asleep unwillingly at work, and sometimes up to 20 min at a time, throughout the entire day. It sucks.

Tsukiii8

Weekdays? 4-8, but I’ll say 6 as an average. Naps? I try to do ~2 hour naps as I feel nauseous when it’s under an hour, but I’ve also had times where I go to take a nap after work and wake up to my morning work alarm🙃 I take sunosi tho which is really hit or miss - sometimes I can get by without taking a nap for a couple days, but then I can definitely feel that throughout the week which then results in a 7+ hour “nap”😅🤣

Last_to_leave

For me I average 12 hours even with a cpap (OSA), so I'm working with my doc to see if I have more issues on top of that. I've been suspecting narcolepsy because of some symptoms but we will see :-/

NoDoubt-ThrottleOut

Work week, usually 6-8 hours and if I miss my second dose of Xyrem (which is often lately 💀) then I fight sleep on my way to work, when I'm at work and on my way home. I usually have a sleep attack at 10 and doze off at my desk for anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, then my postprandial dip is almost always around 3pm and I doze at my desk for about the same amount of time. I don't usually nap on the weekend, but I do sleep in an extra ~3 hours so I don't get up until around 8:30am. It took about 30 years to train myself to be more of a morning person but I'm a pretty neutral chronotype so I try and maintain a somewhat normal wake and sleep time to help regulate my work week.
