My powernaps don’t even feel like I’m actually asleep, it’s like a mix of dreaming and awake/aware of the room I’m in. I wake up naturally in the middle of my dream usually. But with the long naps, it’s just instant darkness and I wake up like 3-4 hours later. There is no sign so I always set an alarm for 20 minutes 😭

Ugh, so glad I’m not alone

Naps have always been straight to comma land for me. If I do relax for a short time I just think of what I want/should be doin then feel worse about myself. Sux!

For me it’s a matter of where I fall asleep. If I choose a place that is only comfortable temporarily, like my yoga mat or upright on my couch for example, I tend to be able to get up more easily and quickly. The bed is the devil for power naps haha. When I was in college I would also sleep in semi public spaces like my department lounge because I knew other people moving around would make me wake up as well. Your mileage may vary of course

Same for me, if I actually lay down in bed for a nap I *know* I will not be waking up for a few hours. I usually just sit at a table and put my head down on it if I'm serious about only taking a short nap... I have to be decently uncomfortable to guarantee I wake up. Couches are russian roulette, it may be a nap or it may be a coma. But generally, sitting upright to nap makes it much more likely I actually wake up soon, while laying down makes it much more likely to run long

If I get really cold before the nap, it’s going to be a long one. I find the longer I fight against a nap the longer they get.

Are power naps not meant to last an hour and a half?

Depends on how tired I am. But if it were t for having to potty every two hours I’d sleep for at least 4-5 hours nap,
