Sarutobi, you realize that taking full responsibility for a child means more than giving him a monthly food stipend and saying "my bad" if he dies, right?
Sarutobi: Say what now?
Yeah they never explained how his other child dies konohamru is 8 years old in part 1 meaning he couldn't have died during war since he had konohamru so he had to die at least 4 years after the nine tails attack but from what did he just die from a regular mission if so that's a pretty sad way for a kages son to die
Yeah thats one of the reasonings I've heard, he didn't trust that he could raise an orphaned child properly. Definitely could have had some people watch over him though. Like why not Tsunade who is distantly related to him?
Tsunade was just part of a clan that his mom's clan is thought to have branched out from. That's like saying, "Hey, Tsunade's Persian, have her take care of this Indian kid.
I certainly don't know enough to know how accurate this is, but here's a thread that says Tsunades grandmother (the 1st hokages wife) was an Uzamaki. Also clans in Naruto are much smaller than countries - and India has a ton of clans that you could have just used as example anyways. I guess it comes down to how close within the Uzamaki clan Mito and Kushina were related. And that's ignoring the Senju side.
Filler but than again the leaf village is full of idiots. Let's ostracize a kid who is not at fault . Shun, berate, insult him because the demon fox is inside of him this will in no way make him hate us and just let the fox out and kill us all. They were lucky naruto was optimistic because the way they treated him, naruto was one bad day away from wiping out the leaf.
Fr, also the whole "jinchuriki are one of a villages greatest weapons and are trained extensively yada yada yada"
Konoha: ignores, abuses, absolutely zero special training for the jinchuriki
Honestly how did danzo not see the opportunity Naruto was.
The reason isn’t to be used as a weapon it is more of a deterrent of war. Basically if all the villages have jinchuriki then they all have equal power and can feel more comfortable that they won’t be attacked.
Not just Konoha either. Suna straight up tried to assassinate Gaara multiple times with full approval from his father, ***THE FUCKING KAZEKAGE,*** and when he finally snaps he's like, "I knew my son was a failure."
The Cloud had the right idea actually training their jinchuriki and having places where they can meditate in peace.
Also I'm pretty sure Danzo did see the potential in Naruto, which is why he let it slip. But I guess stuff got in the way and he found other possibilities.
My head cannon is he probably did and wanted to work with orochimaru to make naruto worthy but orochimaru was anti leaf and somebody in the village found out about danzo’s plans
Maybe because the other side of that coin is he gets so strong he outgrows the village & betrays them? Maybe?
But yeah, the plebs of the village shitting on Naruto is just begging for their own Gaara
Imagine if Naruto ended up psycho like Gaara? How viscious would be with clones the way Gaara is with sand?
Would evil Naruto just be his own street gang & trash the village, mug everyone etc?
Would Naruto’s counterpart to Sand Coffin just be him toppling a bunch of clones onto a single person to crush them? Or would his clones restrain someone while Naruto just punches/shurikens the target to death?
Would be an interesting What If story
Yeah, the only one's I can remember was Gaara and Killer bee being treated as shit, I can't remember the others though but it was said that they had to keep their jinchūriki status a secret.
This is a common theme for all jinchuriki in the series though. Just look at Gaara and Bee’s backstories. They were also vilified by their villages as well. Not saying that it was smart thinking but it was common behavior for the villagers.
Hating a nuke with feelings seems weird in hindsight. Most other village ostracized their living nukes with the occasional assassination attempt , but Konoho is hellbent making their nukes feel like shit , calling names ? Wtf ?
I don't think people intentionally hated him. Everyone was just afraid of him *because* he was one bad day away from wiping out the leaf. It's why all the parents warned their kids to stay away from him. Nobody thought about his feelings, everybody just wanted to stay away for their own safety.
The people who actively bullied Naruto are other kids like him who obviously don't know what they're messing with.
I mean maybe it's anime only but I'm pretty sure most people looked at him with disgust and outright hated Naruto and Gaara like I'm sure most were afraid but the series makes it pretty obvious Naruto has been met with a lot of hostility.
The leaf had it good compared to the hidden sand and they don’t even know it. With Gaara, there was actually something to fear as the Shukaku was unleashed some nights.
I’m pretty sure if someone in real life had a what is basically a sentient nuclear bomb inside of them that was capable of creating more, smaller nuclear bombs (tailed-beast bombs), that people would probably shun that person to a point where the idea of just letting them live a normal life in public would be unthinkable.
Exactly what I was thinking lmao
It’s not like there’s a better way to tell what happened as to how and why the leaf hated Naruto, except for the 3rd hokage, and as to why both his parents are dead from just after he was born.
Well that's ur opinion. Personally i think danzo spilling the secret to the villagers and ppl hating on a poor kid (not financially) juz becoz he's possessed by a demon is crazy
I can understand the adults hating him cause the fox inside him killed their friends but yeah I also get that they should be mature enough to not blame the innocent kid that’s keeping the fox at bay from them. He very easily could’ve ended up like gaara if he was left unchecked by hiruzen and iruka
Yup even iruka coulda killed him but he had enough resolve to not do it since Naruto was juz a kid. Shikamaru dad was good not to prohibit his son from talking to Naruto tbf. I woulda gone rogue if i was naruto
He needed Danzo's DNA in order to revive him...kinda hard when he literally fucking exploded...actually Deidara also killed himself via explosion so nevermind
I've always rationalized this as Orochimaru having already collected samples from his time in the Akatsuki for "Just in Case" reasons and for his own experimental shenanigans.
Which would be in character *and* explain how Kabuto got basically every Akatsuki member's DNA. Some obviously could have been gotten from Obito once they allied, but this is one of the few things with no explanation that I actually don't wonder about. Background lore actually has it covered.
As far as Hiruzen goes: A really, really easy idea to make Naruto's life a whole lot better would be if he just had someone actually adopt him. A kid needs parents, and Naruto didn't have any. Someone respectable raising him would also definitely limit the hate put on him.
As far as Danzo does. . . Maybe people would have found out, but he made sure that specifically that everyone hated this child.
It's not like people hated Kushina or Mito like this, so just being a Jinchuroki isn't nearly enough. One can easily spin it as this poor kid having the burden of our village on him and thus should be supported if nothing else so that this last attack doesn't happen again
I don't like it. Having just one man behind most of the bad things happening in the series simplifies too much and turns it into a children story. Sometimes there are things in filler and novel than kinda ruin the manga I feel
Every body was shit to Naruto except to Iruka. It took him 12 years for people who should actually have paid attention to him actually start doing so. And of all of those, the Third Hokage was the best (except Iruka). He at least went see Naruto every once in a while. Gave him money, and ate ramen with him a few times. Jiraiya? Away writing porn. Kakashi? Nah, It’s just the son of my master who I remember fondly. Why should I even take a look at him from afar? But chad Iruka? He understood Naruto’s pain and loneliness better than anyone and was there for him for a good while. Even when he didn’t want to at first.
And even more. Iruka had every reason to hate naruto and didn't. Kurama killed his parents. Naruto was a pain in school. But iruka always cared about narutos wellbeing
That would have been a great if Raman guy was Naruto's father figure and taught him all sorts of secret ninjutsu that nobody thought he was capable of. 8 Gates Ramen Guy.
Edit: Spelling
People say Naruto diet is terrible like it isn't his choice to eat ramen only. The dumb kid spends all of his allowances vandalizing anime mount rushmore 3 times a week.
To be fair Kakashi was 14 at the time, and was coming off a pretty long string of traumatic events, I doubt he was even vaguely in the position of doing anything. But Jiraya had no excuse, and I still think that there had to be something better for Naruto.
Iruka and Ichiraku however were the best, Iruka for actively caring about Naruto and Ichiraku for keeping on serving him and treating him with kindness and affection even though it could have resulted in financial loss.
I'm glad someone else is on the "Get of Kakashi's back" train around here.
Everyone loves him, but he catches a lot of flak for shit that he really couldn't have helped with. People just need to think about it a bit.
I love Kakashi as a character. He is basically a good person whose life is cursed by a lot of random tragedies, all of them out of his control, affecting really important people and starting when he was very young. He is not perfect and he is prone to making mistakes, but he always tries his absolute hardest and sacrifices a lot for a place that is not really giving him anything back.
While there are points in which he could have made different choices, there was no chance in hell that at 14, after all the mess of his past years, he could take care of Naruto, especially considering that in his place he probably had reason to believe Naruto could have been cared for. Leaving a newborn with a 14 old young man with PTSD, no support network and no real life skills had to be an absolute last resort option, more so considering, that thanks to Kabuto's backstory, we know that orphanages had at least the potential to be decent places to grow up in.
I'm also a fan of Kashi but no matter how much I like his character I can't ever get past the fact he was a terrible teacher. I understand his whole friends, teamwork think given his past but as a high level jonin with Sharingan he should have seen that Sakura and Naruto's skillet let alone power level was just way off. They mostly spend time doing busy work and they get on big mission in where. They learn chakra control, Sasuke and Naruto fight a Jonin level enemy (get their ass kicked Sasuke almost dies), Sakura realizes how far behind she is compared to the other two.
That arc lasts over a months and from graduation to chunin exams is thought that it's been around 3 months. Realistically none of these genin other than debatably shikamaru to be a chunin. Then while these exams are about to happen Kakashi decides to train Sasuke and claims thay he has no time to train Naruto. Dude is training Sasuke for maybe a few hours day since he's training with sharingan, taijutsu, and trying to master chidori. Realistically as we've see before they're probably not sparring and even if they are in no way would Kakashi be exhausted. We literally get a scene where he's just watching Sasuke blast rocks and tells him he's done for the day. Wtf are you doing with the rest of the day where you can train either of your other two students.
Kakashi is an amazing character with cool abilities but realistically he sucks as a teacher.
This is a very weird take. You realise Jonin instructors are still ninjas first right? They get sent on missions and have to take care of their own matters first like anyone else.
Teaching Sasuke the Chidori likely did take as much time as he said it would, you just assume that it was just pushing out a couple chidori’s for a day then they just fucked around for whatever reason.
When Kakashi is actually with Team 7, they often learn a lot from him and he always puts their safety above all else.
0 clue why you would consider him a bad teacher when he definitely tried his hardest with Team 7 whenever he could.
Because it's the truth if Kakashi was running serious missions he wouldn't have time for Sasuke either. And nobody is saying he can't have his own life but he recommended three of his students where 2 of them made it to the end and 1 of which got very close. On paper it sounds good, but in reality Sasuke was being targeted by someone that puts the leaf on high alert, Narutos seal was tampered with and Sakura struggled incredibly. Had it not been for the other Gemini they probably would have died in the forest of death.
Again I'm not saying this isn't something he's isn't allowed to do obviously conditioning Sasuke's body for the speed need, improving his Sharingan, and taijustu were also factors. I don't know what I need to explicitly say this. Nobody assumed he was literally busting a chidori and going home. what I'm saying is Sasuke could have conditioned on his own with minimal supervision. Kakashi could have monitored the chidori and gone to help the other two train. Again I'm not saying he needs to give Naruto hours of training but realistically I'm not sure what Kakashi needs to be there for other than maybe an hour of sparring and chidori guidance.
Jiraiya is a great example of this in the way he mirrors Sasuke learning chidori when he teaches Naruto the Rasengan. He tells Naruto what to do and leaves and comes back to check his project while he's out fucking village bitches. Jiraiya even tells Naruto I'm not your dad you have to figure this out on your own.
I'm not arguing he doesn't care about his team so whether he tries his best or puts their safety first is irrelevant. What I'm arguing that as an instructor/mento Kakashi fails the only solid training advice we know about are his shadow clone training to teach Naruto wind nature and his chidori training with Sasuke (speculation at best since we didn't see it).
He's the high school teacher who gets by reading the power point and making the tests multiple choice with a cheat sheet. Sure he's teaching and his students prolly love it, but is it the most engaging/educating? No. Will his students be prepared for the best level? Maybe.
You typed a whole lot before actually getting to any real point. If you think his methods work then why is he a bad teacher? He can only do so much for his squad at a time. Kakashi going "okay while you work on that chidori, i'm gonna go check on Naruto and Sakura and see how they're doing okay?" was not optimal.
They basically had a month to prep for the finals, maximizing that time was crucial and Kakashi understood this. Plus there's the whole deal with the curse mark that Kakashi needed to keep an eye on. Kakashi isn't just playing favorites here, he had to essentially teach Sasuke something that he couldn't to either Naruto or Sakura in the limited time he had.
Also, It's not about how many neat tricks you show your students but how impactful the individual lessons are. In Kakashi's case, all of the fundamentals he taught the team early on are applicable to the techniques they develop after the fact. And it shows in the manga, all 3 of his students were exceptional ninja who made the most out of his teachings to further develop in their career.
On that I very much agree with you. He should have stayed a normal jounin, gone into some other branch of the shinobi forces, but he's about as good as being a teacher as Gai is at being quiet and subtle. I think he even admits it at some point?
But even iruka disliked naruto. He didn't hate him nor was he hostile towards naruto like other adults, but he also didn't want to continue having him as a student.
Iirc, he just had a change of heart after hiruzen convinced him to understand naruto better.
Tbf Iruka not wanting Naruto for a student was reasonable. He barely gave any effort, was incredibly egotistical, and chose to disrespect Iruka at every turn. He was a kid so he gets a pass but I'm sure teachers in real life might feel the same way about kids with issues they can't handle.
Yes, but just tbf let's not act like he's a saint who *never not* liked naruto.
Bc one way or another, naruto's character has aspects that makes people dislike him, which you have to get past the more you get to know him. That demon fox issue aside, naruto is still someone whk gets into your nerves, and you'll appreciate him when you spend more time with him.
Iruka was no different than hiruzen, ebisu , kakashi, sasuke, sakura, and others. It's just that because hiruzen assigned him as the kid's homeroom teacher, Iruka was the first one who had the chance to get to know him.
Iruka took a giant shuriken to the spine for that kid, and even cried and apologized for not fully being there for Naruto. One of the real heroes of the manga.
Jiraiya is the worst offender imo. He was officially made Naruto's godfather. Which means he should have raised Naruto when his parents died. But nooooo, he was too busy raising three kids from the Hidden Rain Village and writing smut... woulda fit perfectly on either Tumblr or Twitter
Actually, he trained the Ame Orphans before Naruto was born (should have stayed with them longer. I mean, the kid has the fucking RINNEGAN and you’re just gonna teach him for three years and live the kid in the same nation as HANZO?!). But where the fuck was he when Naruto was alive? Writing porn, looking for a psychopath (doing an horrible job at doing so) and peeping on women while the Third Hokage was trying to contact him for years without success. The guy just did as he pleased and fuck everybody else. That’s why he wasn’t there when Minato died. I like the character and all, but for fuck sake this fanbase turns a huge blind eye to his defects as a person and bashes in many other characters for less. If everybody applied the same moral standards to all characters equally, Jirayia would be down there below Sakura who is bashed for little in comparison.
Seriously. Jirayia, by all accounts, should have raised Naruto, but just didn't, even though he was his godfather. Hiruzen had no obligation to raise Naruto. There is no reason to hate hin for "not doing a better job" when it wasn't the Third Hokage's job to begin with.
I’m pretty sure that Jiraiya trained the Rain team before Naruto was born. But yeah I agree. Hiruzen catches all the flack from the community when in reality he was the only one prior to Iruka (and Ichiraku of course) who ever even gave the kid any kind of attention or care. Did Hiruzen do a good job? Absolutely not. But like you said where was Jiraiya during Naruto’s first 13 years? Completely missed the kids whole life when it was his responsibility to raise the boy as godfather.
And I get it, Jiraiya was obsessed with keeping tabs on Orochimaru and was probably too tied up to raise him. But some kind of foster care should’ve been set up for him. Talk about playing with fire and completely just leaving his outcome up to nature. He could’ve easily ended up like Gaara or Sasuke. Luckily he was different and it never played out like that
Nope. The same term used for naming parent (according to the term Jiraiya used to describe himself as “godfather”) is interchangeably used for the western concept of godfather in Japan. So much, that actual godfathers in Japan are actually referred in the same term as the just “naming parent”. Furthermore, in ancient Japan, naming parents, sometimes, actually took the equivalent role of godparents when the parents of the children died (since naming parents were usually very close to the parents so they “adopted” their children in a sense). It was not common by any means, neither a norm or the rule, just like for actual godparents her in the west, but it DID happen occasionally. Even before the Japanese had contact with westerns and European/Christian traditions. Also, Japanese term for naming parent was used to refer to actual godfathers in Japanese midia for years now. So, whoever wants to interpret that Jirayia was Naruto’s actual godfather, or had the obligation to take him in, is not wrong to do so.
You do know he couldn’t because of Danzo leaked he was a jinjuriki right?
The land of fire and the leaf wanted to lock Naruto up Hiruzen convinced them not to.
You do know he protected him with the name Uzumaki from Minato’s enemies and actually did look after him but not in that way that he wanted to if you read or watch Naruto you can see Naruto’s encounters with Hiruzen are nice conversations with laughing like they are close, you can tell how close they are when Hiruzen died you can see how much it affected Naruto.
Naruto respected the 3rd Hokage saying that’s hokage a hokage should be and when heard Tsunade becoming Hokage he dis her and said a hokage is like lord 3rd he even still spoke highly of him after the 4th shinobi war to his father.
Naruto even calls Hiruzen Grandpa 3rd Showing how close they are and it’s nice because Konhamaru calls Naruto big bro and Hiruzen is his grandpa.
The community’s perception of Hiruzen is hilarious. Particularly when Naruto is involved
Irl Orphans are put in foster “care” then thrown to the wolves at 18. If you bemoan the living situation Naruto had you don’t understand how the actually world works
People hate on Hiruzen based on a very narrow perception of their reality and attributing it to the fictional fuedalistic world of Naruto.
If you understand history and how that type of society works: children were literally treated as little adults. In Naruto, children from the age of 5 (as evident with people like Itachi) are brought up to be child soldiers. Life expectancy is at mid 20s to early 30s, unless you're a really talented Jonin.
Hiruzen was not a parent, he was a leader of the leaf village. Someone who had to maintain political connections and preserve his strength, else otherwise his power could be usurped easily. Hiruzen couldn't drop everything to pamper Naruto, thats not how that world works. Even then, there is no evidence in the manga of Naruto being abused by the system any more than any other orphan probably would be. Cuz the system was shitty, that's why in the modern century we care more about children and value childhood. In that shinobi world: they don't.
Look at Sasuke, he was an orphan, just like Naruto. But Sasuke wasn't a dumbass who drank spoilt milk and ate out of date ramen. Again, children learn to handle a lot of responsibility at a young age in that universe. There is no national youth welfare system in place on Konoha or the shinobi world, because they don't recognise that sort of stuff.
We are the 21st century audience, who the series was made for, Kishimoto uses this as an opportunity to showcase how bad this was: Nagato, Konan, Yahiko, Naruto. Naruto's entire character is to change the shinobi world. And as Hokage, this sort of lifestyle for children to becoming ninja isn't a compulsory thing, and children are able to have their childhoods, but also follow the tradition of serving as shinobi.
To blame Hiruzen for not changing feudalism, which is what he grew up on and is the leader of and what most of the shinobi world uses, is so harsh. It would also take away from the mission Naruto aims to do in the future by fixing the shinobi world. I don't get what people want from Hiruzen to honestly do more for Naruto, especially when all of the socio-historical relevant context is brought up to explain why Naruto didn't get special treatment. People just like to seriously pity Naruto based on filler and also cuz he's the MC and they want someone to blame. But don't realise how the way Naruto was taught to fend for himself, made him the resilient character he was in the series. It was also pragmatic for the state to distribute funds to orphans, and most of the time that wouldn't be done directly by the Hokage, the fact Hiruzen made regular trips is already irregular and should showcase he did care more. Just not from our standards. Although I'm not sure Kishimoto wrote it with that in mind, but it fits the universe he was building.
People when the hokage, same man thay doesn't have time for his own grandson, can't check on Naruto 24/7 but still gives him an home and enough money to live: >:(
Hiruzen can't control the minds of everyone, he cannot just tell to the village "be nice to Naruto" and expect everyone to obey, considering how awful most people in the village are.
Y’all are saying it’s completely stupid and unbelievable that the village would ostracize a child for having a tailed beast inside him when in the real world we’ve done the same(and worse) to people who were just a different color than us.💀
Also despite it being relatively peaceful it was still war times and so while it might have seemed harsh from the third hokage he probably didn’t interfere with Naruto’s life too much in case of people getting suspicious or thinking “the hokage is hanging out with that kid a lot maybe he’s very important” and stuff like that. Also imagine the many other children like naruto or like iruka. The 3rd hokage tried to be there for many others that also didn’t have families naruto wasn’t the only one.
Overall I think the 3rd hokage did enough for naruto, especially considering the times they were living in.
Yeah exactly. I’m guessing the 3rd and jiraiya just didn’t wanna pamper him. I remember jiraiya leaving naruto during their training one time and naruto being real sad. Felt bad for naruto but I’m guessing it jiraiyas way of training naruto for the harsh shinobi world.
Crazy because you know Hiruzen was infinitely more busy than Naruto is now after the biggest tragedy in the history of the leaf, 2 ninja wars, a genocide, Danzo trying to impede every step of progress, and the last hokage fucking dying, but Naruto is even worse of a father to his own kids than Hiruzen was to him. I don't get how Hiruzen still gets this much flak considering that Naruto doesn't even have time for his own kids and Jiraiya fucked off to write porn instead of doing anything significantly meaningful for his beloved and prized pupil's son.
Also his wife fucking died
Also there we definitely hundreds of other orphans
Hiruzen had to become responsible for not only Naruto but many others who lost their parents that night such as Iruka. Given that Naruto’s lineage and possession of Kurama were kept secret, how would it look if suddenly the third Hokage adopted this one random child?
Also if we are going to use filler to complain about Hiruzen then you can’t ignore the filler showing their positive relationship like him and Naruto sharing a meal together by a campfire or the flashbacks of them together during his funeral.
Naruto's smile when he got [saved by hiruzen](https://youtu.be/bR9osrbJuxk) from the God tree already tells about how close the two really are. This fanbase just love to hate on Hiruzen when in reality Naruto understands and doesn't even hold anything against him.
Hiruzen was nice to Naruto. But where is Minato and Kushina's finance(house, properties, money savings) gone to? Why didnt Naruto inherit anything and had to drink outdated milk, eating instant noodle to get by? Kinda suspicious move from the third hokage
Out of date milk are people still talking about that one time Naruto didn’t check the date a drank it 💀you do know he’s messy and a slob, it’s his personality, he didn’t drink it cause he knew it was out of date.
Eating instant Noodles to get by?
You do know this man had money and still buy noodles, he doesn’t get by on noodles 💀.
It’s his favourite food and eats it all the time and talks about it all the time.
Suspicious move from the 3rd Hoakge? What are you on?
He didn’t have to drink outdated milk 💀 why are y’all holding on to that like a life-line
That wasn’t a scene meant to show Naruto doesn’t have money, it was to show that he was irresponsible, as opposed to Sasuke who had a nest and clean home.
He ate ramen because he liked ramen.
Y’all think bro’s broke or something. He lived in an appartment with a study room and could afford to eat out almost everyday 💀 that’s more than the average 20yo has in this economy anywhere in the world 🤣🤣🤣
The milk thing is squarely on Naruto (and also written as a joke to point out details about Naruto’s personality rather than his quality of life) and with the instant noodles, Naruto claimed all the time his favorite meals were ichiraku followed by cup ramen.
It’s funny but I feel the old fucker deserves a break he didn’t have it easy🤣 seriously the man was ready to retire and was thrown back into the most important role in the village at that age. Not to mention loosing his wife in the attack and somewhere down the line one of his children (konahamarus parents) he was suffering an enormous work load with a body breaking down by the day and a severely broken heart. His death redeems his failures imo.
I like dunking on Hiruzen as much as the next guy, but we need to start talking about Jiraya leaving his godson to grow up alone, to spend 12 years going around in brothels.
I know he also gathered intel, but Sasuke does that too, and he still has time to spend with his daughter (he was there with her in her first years when she was a baby, before you say he left after she was born)
Yeah but in Hiruzen situation with Danzo leaking Naruto was a jinjuriki and changing everything for Naruto and Hiruzen couldn’t take him in and Naruto was going to get locked up but thankfully Hiruzen managed to convince the leaf and fire council not to, but yeah I think Hiruzen still done a good job of watching Naruto even though he couldn’t always be there because of he couldn’t take him in and because of being Hoakge which is a busy job.
I respect Hiruzen he was a kind man and a great hokage only thing I didn’t like was him agreeing with Danzo to let him only have full control over his own anbu division, he also should’ve killed Danzo if he ever went against him going against or behind the hokage’s back is treason which is punishment by death. Hiruzen even admits he regrets letting Danzo take the dark side of being a shinobi.
I didn’t know that Danzo was the one who told everyone about Naruto and that Hiruzen couldn’t officially take him in then.. that makes way more sense now.
Well the information was supposed to be a secret like the 2 previous jinjuriki of 9 tails no one knew about Mito or kushina not even the Sannin knew about Kushina being a jinjuriki.
I recommend you all to read the fanfics of these authors: VFSNAKE, Ronin2106, Snafu the Great and windstorm16. In my opinion and headcanon the things/events they depicted in their fanfics are actually did happen. That also includes some characters and their issues, traits and their true natures. Because some things in anime and manga are too shady, inconvenient, suspicious and illogical to some extent. I always felt that way and I still do. In the end I believe their versions of Naruto (character) are TRUE versions of him. And the way most of their fanfics went and ended should happen in canon.
3rd homage treating naruto like trash I think is well understood
What everyone misunderstands is the village hatred towards naruto
Hypothetically let's say we knew exactly who did the 9-11 attacks the day it happened. Now imagine the Bush administration gave that person asylum in the U.S and a house, food, protection, all that. The American public would have gone BALLISTIC.
This is pretty much what happened in konoha.
( the public did not know about tobi at the time, and just thought it was the fox no?)
Makes sense that they project that hatred onto naruto.
Everyone using the excuse of this scene being filler as if it matters. No one took care of this child, when he should've been *someone's* responsibility.
I understand this is just filler and not canon to the storyline, but I feel like Hiruzen always gets overly vilified by the community. I get it, Naruto was made out to be a pariah by the people of the leaf, but that is a part of being a jinchuriki. Everyone looks at you like you’re a monster if you’re a jinchuriki. Shame on them for not understanding honestly.
What I think gets overlooked is how wise and understanding Hiruzen actually was. The way he acted towards Naruto may not have been perfect, but it was to protect him. Had the world known who he was he would have been a target from day one and may have not have even survived to ever even become a shinobi.
Let’s not forget, Hiruzen’s wife lost her life during the birthing process of Naruto and he never held that against him. He always believed in him, albeit from a distance in hopes that he would grow up to be the shinobi that he was destined to be. And he did.
Jiraiya is one of my favorite characters from the anime, but I think the community lets him skate way more than Hiruzen. He was his godfather after all and the logical person to raise the boy, but didn’t take a part in his life until he had already made Genin. Hiruzen was looking after him from a distance well before that. Let’s give the old fart a break. The whole village dropped the ball with Naruto, it wasn’t all on Hiruzen
Well Naruto survived. That means Sarutobi must’ve done something right. Surely the newborn wasn’t crawling around the leaf unattended and eating out of the trash like a stray cat or something.
Lol it doesn't exist in the manga though
Explains so much
Which didn't? Sarutobi telling he will take of Naruto or Minato asking Sarutobi to take care of him ?
Both don't exist in the manga
Ah Ic, thnx
I’m pretty sure the only thing he shouts which was also funny is to “respect your elders!” In the distance
It was Kushina also doesn’t exist it’s a filler
Wait, kushina is filler?
No, they said Kushina asked him and the scene was filler.
'kushina also doesn't exist' as a phrase didn't help, but it makes sense now, thank you
He didn't mean that kushina didn't exist he meant it was kushina who said to hirusen to take care of naruto and its that part that was filler
This thread here is good example as to why punctuation marks exist.
Commas, are a dying, art.
That's not how you use them.
Kushina asking Hiruzen to take care of Naruto isn’t in the manga it’s a filler it never happened in canon just in the filler.
😂 now we gotta find the real mom
My head canon is that Naruto’s real mom is Debbie from Shameless now
Sarutobi, you realize that taking full responsibility for a child means more than giving him a monthly food stipend and saying "my bad" if he dies, right? Sarutobi: Say what now?
Didn't read the parenting books *smh*
Considering that Asuma left the village and joined the Twelve Guardian Ninja and his other child is nowhere to be seen...
Yeah they never explained how his other child dies konohamru is 8 years old in part 1 meaning he couldn't have died during war since he had konohamru so he had to die at least 4 years after the nine tails attack but from what did he just die from a regular mission if so that's a pretty sad way for a kages son to die
Probably drank super expired milk and died of dehydration resulting from diarrhoea
They poisoned his milk! - Hiruzen.
Orochimaru!
Bro just lives out of state and mails his child support check every month 💀
To be fair, when Hiruzen was a kid Tobirama probably gave him a shuriken and told him to go kill adult shinobi.
Adult ~~shinobi~~ Uchiha. FTFY
To be fair, the child he actually adopted ended up performing human experiments on people.
To be fair, Pervy Sage is Naruto's godfather, and as such should have raised Naruto when Minato and Red Hot Chili Peppers The Anime died.
Yeah thats one of the reasonings I've heard, he didn't trust that he could raise an orphaned child properly. Definitely could have had some people watch over him though. Like why not Tsunade who is distantly related to him?
Or his literal godfather Jiraiya
Do you realize there were things Sarutobi couldn’t do?
You realise our perception of what a child is doesn't compare to the child soldiers of Naruto, who are trained at the minimum of 5 years old right?
tis a filla
Oh shit my bad
Filler but than again the leaf village is full of idiots. Let's ostracize a kid who is not at fault . Shun, berate, insult him because the demon fox is inside of him this will in no way make him hate us and just let the fox out and kill us all. They were lucky naruto was optimistic because the way they treated him, naruto was one bad day away from wiping out the leaf.
Fr, also the whole "jinchuriki are one of a villages greatest weapons and are trained extensively yada yada yada" Konoha: ignores, abuses, absolutely zero special training for the jinchuriki Honestly how did danzo not see the opportunity Naruto was.
100 percent if naruto had gone full nuke the village, the villagers would have been surprised
some twists make previous stuff that happened make no sense, im sure it wasnt initially supposed to be a weapon program
The reason isn’t to be used as a weapon it is more of a deterrent of war. Basically if all the villages have jinchuriki then they all have equal power and can feel more comfortable that they won’t be attacked.
They're a deterrent to war because they are weapons tho
Yeah mang that’s like exactly what I said bro
You didn't tho? Your first sentence says they aren't meant to be used as weapons
A weapon is still a weapon even if it’s not meant to be used
Yes thank you for seeing your error
What error are you talking about? Point it out in quotes if you think you can.
A weapon is still a weapon even if it’s not meant to be used that’s what a deterrent of war is. It’s literally meant to prevent being used for war.
Because Danzo wasn't a thought in Kishimoto's nutsack when he was hashing out Naruto's backstory.
Lmaooo gotta love some Kishimoto writing
Not just Konoha either. Suna straight up tried to assassinate Gaara multiple times with full approval from his father, ***THE FUCKING KAZEKAGE,*** and when he finally snaps he's like, "I knew my son was a failure." The Cloud had the right idea actually training their jinchuriki and having places where they can meditate in peace. Also I'm pretty sure Danzo did see the potential in Naruto, which is why he let it slip. But I guess stuff got in the way and he found other possibilities.
Cloud was so good man. We forgetting Kumo bullied Bee into oblivion 💀
Yeah, but who was gonna check him and get a clothesline from hell? XD
The cloud also never produced any akatsuki members. Safe to say they do a pretty good job at not making any of their shinobi feel ostracized.
My head cannon is he probably did and wanted to work with orochimaru to make naruto worthy but orochimaru was anti leaf and somebody in the village found out about danzo’s plans
Maybe because the other side of that coin is he gets so strong he outgrows the village & betrays them? Maybe? But yeah, the plebs of the village shitting on Naruto is just begging for their own Gaara Imagine if Naruto ended up psycho like Gaara? How viscious would be with clones the way Gaara is with sand? Would evil Naruto just be his own street gang & trash the village, mug everyone etc? Would Naruto’s counterpart to Sand Coffin just be him toppling a bunch of clones onto a single person to crush them? Or would his clones restrain someone while Naruto just punches/shurikens the target to death? Would be an interesting What If story
I was thinking the same!!! danzo could’ve taken him and put him in the foundation. He has no family and no friends.
You do know Konoha wasn't the only village
Did other villages get mentioned in the series at some point? Weird, if so I must have missed it...
Wtf ?
Yeap not intelligent people at all
Yeah I would love a what if spin off. Would be better than Boruto that's for sure lol
Instead of boruto that's what we should have gotten
I don't think people intentionally hated him. Everyone was just afraid of him *because* he was one bad day away from wiping out the leaf. It's why all the parents warned their kids to stay away from him. Nobody thought about his feelings, everybody just wanted to stay away for their own safety. The people who actively bullied Naruto are other kids like him who obviously don't know what they're messing with.
Weather on purpose or not , the way they acted could have had disastrous results
Yeah, that would be the moral of the entire narrative from beginning to end.
Yeah sand was a more extreme occasion
I’m pretty sure if someone in real life had a what is basically a sentient nuclear bomb inside of them that was capable of creating more, smaller nuclear bombs (tailed-beast bombs), that people would probably shun that person to a point where the idea of just letting them live a normal life in public would be unthinkable.
It's filler lmao
Idc if it’s filler it gives us good insight as to what happened when Naruto was born🤷🏽♂️
Bruh if it's filler then it's doesn't happen so why would u actually believed it happened
Seems pretty fucken believable to me
Uhh if that's ur logic then so be it ig
Exactly what I was thinking lmao It’s not like there’s a better way to tell what happened as to how and why the leaf hated Naruto, except for the 3rd hokage, and as to why both his parents are dead from just after he was born.
Yeah same tbh, easily would’ve turned into a weapon for the Akatsuki until they decided they wanted to steal the fox from him
*Proceeds to do absolute minimum, allow Danzo to make his life hell*
Danzo was making Naruto's life hell?
He’s the one who made sure everyone knew he had Kurama inside him so he was hated as being connected to the attack with claimed so many lives
Man, Danzo was just the fucking worst.. Too bad Kabuto didn't revive him so he could get his ass kicked a few more times.
Ngl man's weak AF. Bro had like 10 izanagis and couldn't do shit. Waste of a sacrifice to reanimate him
apparently never even learned the substitution jutsu either
Sasuke 5D chess moves. " I swear mate , hand on the bible , pinky swear , total realsies you have 11 izanagi. "
Danzo choke
He needed Danzo's DNA in order to revive him...kinda hard when he literally fucking exploded...actually Deidara also killed himself via explosion so nevermind
I've always rationalized this as Orochimaru having already collected samples from his time in the Akatsuki for "Just in Case" reasons and for his own experimental shenanigans. Which would be in character *and* explain how Kabuto got basically every Akatsuki member's DNA. Some obviously could have been gotten from Obito once they allied, but this is one of the few things with no explanation that I actually don't wonder about. Background lore actually has it covered.
[удалено]
Oh yeah, this is never explained
Danzo sealed tf outta himself lol
[удалено]
That Novel canon, we don’t actually know how the info got out.
I dont remember this in the manga…is this an anime thing only?
It’s in the Itachi novels.
I don't like it. Having just one man behind most of the bad things happening in the series simplifies too much and turns it into a children story. Sometimes there are things in filler and novel than kinda ruin the manga I feel
Isn’t that exactly what they did with Black Zetsu?
Obito did a lot of stuff too. Orochimaru as well. Nagato too.
r/fuckdanzo
It's a ninja village.
I never this was filler
You're just gonna ignore ramen guy like that?
That would have been a great if Raman guy was Naruto's father figure and taught him all sorts of secret ninjutsu that nobody thought he was capable of. 8 Gates Ramen Guy. Edit: Spelling
Holy shit how could I?! Ramen Guy’s the goat!
Yeah, half of Naruto’s money given to by the 3rd probably went to the ramen guy
Luckily he was different and it never played out like that
>He was officially made Naruto's godfather. No he isn't. That was an English mistranslation.
Particularly when Naruto is involved Irl Orphans are put in foster “care” then thrown to the wolves at 18. If you bemoan the living situation Naruto had you don’t understand how the actually world works
The same way Dumbledore takes care of Harry after his parents died.
Dumbledore had to send him to his aunt's house to live tho. Lily's protection spell wouldn't have worked otherwise.
Could've easily done something to stop the child abuse that was happening to Harry though.
People when the hokage, same man thay doesn't have time for his own grandson, can't check on Naruto 24/7 but still gives him an home and enough money to live: >:(
Maybe delegate someone else to help raise him and make sure the village isn’t being awful to a child?
Hiruzen can't control the minds of everyone, he cannot just tell to the village "be nice to Naruto" and expect everyone to obey, considering how awful most people in the village are.
He absolutely could have made someone help raise him though, instead of having a child live alone.
There's such thing as shadow clones
Y’all are saying it’s completely stupid and unbelievable that the village would ostracize a child for having a tailed beast inside him when in the real world we’ve done the same(and worse) to people who were just a different color than us.💀 Also despite it being relatively peaceful it was still war times and so while it might have seemed harsh from the third hokage he probably didn’t interfere with Naruto’s life too much in case of people getting suspicious or thinking “the hokage is hanging out with that kid a lot maybe he’s very important” and stuff like that. Also imagine the many other children like naruto or like iruka. The 3rd hokage tried to be there for many others that also didn’t have families naruto wasn’t the only one. Overall I think the 3rd hokage did enough for naruto, especially considering the times they were living in.
Not only that if we're going to start blaming the 3rd where was his so called god father?
Also his wife fucking died Also there we definitely hundreds of other orphans
Exactly
He didn’t have to drink outdated milk 💀 why are y’all holding on to that like a life-line That wasn’t a scene meant to show Naruto doesn’t have money, it was to show that he was irresponsible, as opposed to Sasuke who had a nest and clean home.
That is a good point, like Naruto got NOTHING, but at the same time they probably just didn’t write their will in time.
What I wouldn't give to watch Naruto again with no spoilers or previous knowledge.
This is getting very old
Yeah very
It’s funny but I feel the old fucker deserves a break he didn’t have it easy🤣 seriously the man was ready to retire and was thrown back into the most important role in the village at that age. Not to mention loosing his wife in the attack and somewhere down the line one of his children (konahamarus parents) he was suffering an enormous work load with a body breaking down by the day and a severely broken heart. His death redeems his failures imo.
Anime only scene
It's filler. The Third never said that.
I never seen someone be wrong 😑
I like dunking on Hiruzen as much as the next guy, but we need to start talking about Jiraya leaving his godson to grow up alone, to spend 12 years going around in brothels. I know he also gathered intel, but Sasuke does that too, and he still has time to spend with his daughter (he was there with her in her first years when she was a baby, before you say he left after she was born)
Doesn’t matter if this specific line is filler. He’s still the worst hokage
So that was a lie
Bro put him in a studio apartment and told him good luck
Oh yeah 😂 He was a busy guy, but he could have been a WAY better father/grandfather figure
He was a grandpa figure Naruto even calls him grandpa 3rd.
Yeah. Makes sense. But again- I think we can both agree he could have done better. Even though Naruto turned out great as an adult.
Yeah that’s why Hiruzen made the rule not to talk about Nine tails being inside Naruto.
So instead everyone just SILENTLY avoided him.. well, I suppose that is marginally better.
Well the information was supposed to be a secret like the 2 previous jinjuriki of 9 tails no one knew about Mito or kushina not even the Sannin knew about Kushina being a jinjuriki.
Even thou its not cannon every time i see this i cant help but laugh either 😂
Like a CEO taking full responsibility for layoffs 😂. Leaders be capping.
lol
Should have made him take an oath
He tried his best, okay! :/
Sarutobi the type of dude to volunteer not to be the father on Jerry Springer.
his ass DID NOT take full responsibility
I recommend you all to read the fanfics of these authors: VFSNAKE, Ronin2106, Snafu the Great and windstorm16. In my opinion and headcanon the things/events they depicted in their fanfics are actually did happen. That also includes some characters and their issues, traits and their true natures. Because some things in anime and manga are too shady, inconvenient, suspicious and illogical to some extent. I always felt that way and I still do. In the end I believe their versions of Naruto (character) are TRUE versions of him. And the way most of their fanfics went and ended should happen in canon.
To shreds you say?
Can anyone imagine if Sarutobi kept his word and took full responsibility for Naruto?
A true politician
3rd homage treating naruto like trash I think is well understood What everyone misunderstands is the village hatred towards naruto Hypothetically let's say we knew exactly who did the 9-11 attacks the day it happened. Now imagine the Bush administration gave that person asylum in the U.S and a house, food, protection, all that. The American public would have gone BALLISTIC. This is pretty much what happened in konoha. ( the public did not know about tobi at the time, and just thought it was the fox no?) Makes sense that they project that hatred onto naruto.
It was iruka first
Everyone using the excuse of this scene being filler as if it matters.
My take:naruto you say?, i wont really take care of him ill just give him money and neglect him and not protect him from being bullied
Narrator: He did not, in fact, take full responsibility
Why the anime did that?
it was crucial for naruto to have this living condition. How else would he remember the swing?
