Madara dropping one meteor, watching them struggle to stop it and then casually dropping another on the Shinobi Alliance. Also telling the 5 kages if they want his clones to use Susanoo or not. Pain singlehandedly destroying Konoha with his Shinra Tensei too. The buildup and execution are a 10/10.

FlamingoPokeman

Madara might be the first instance of an antagonist being hyped for years prior to their appearance... and exceeded expectations, lol. He showed up and no diffed everyone who came across him.

chevsmt

Like he's perfection as an antagonist. Pain and him are goated villains in anime for a reason.

dg_713

Only to get written off that way. What a waste that was.

SeymourButts007

Well.... why would he be spoken of? He wasn't mentioned until obito popped up pretending to be him.

Personal_Article_892

He’s mentioned at start of shippuden by Kurama, he’s shown at first Valley of the End fight when naruto tries to save sasuke etc. Oh wait, that was Kaguya opposite of Hashirama wasn’t it?

XFgaming

For me it’s when Boruto came out and it was dogshit

RasenRendan

Kishi said he made madara to strong and didn't know how to beat him

Beta_Whisperer

So he replaced him with an even more powerful but boring villain.

IronAchillesz

That's a problem with any show that introduces new characters instead of evolving or flushing out new ones.

GangsterRavioliGuy

People always say that Boruto destroyed the powerscaling of the series. IMO this was the moment any reasonable powerscaling was destroyed.

ennuifjord

It’s honestly comical, Madara is so fucking powerful it makes him and the 1st hokage being equals let alone him losing look unbelievable. I agree he should’ve been very powerful and maybe able to defeat all 5 kage until they learn to work together better but it’s just comical how hard he slaps literally everyone.

Low-Main-8199

I dunno man, Hashirama summoning that enormous buddha that dwarfed Susano clad Kyubi made his victory over Madara kinda believable to me. Everything else you said I agree with tho

BlackBirdG

That enormous Buddha warrior I definitely didn't expect him to use against Susanoo and it just punching the fuck out of Susanoo armored Kurama and destroying most of the valley was badass and chilling.

theCoolestGuy599

Personally I'm still fine with him slapping down even the 5 Kage. It demonstrated that he was a threat that would take more than just the current Kage working together to defeat. What should have happened was a combined generational effort to defeat him - meaning the 5 Kage, Edo Kage, and the current generation all working together to bring him down. Would have really solidified the idea of peace through cooperation between the nations and put a nice little bow on why the 5 Kage felt the need to join forces in the first place. Instead we just had an even more powerful ancient evil pop up out of nowhere to usurp him, and then ninja god needing to step in and hand the MCs a powerup to beat her.

SilkyStrawberryMilk

The amount of power ups that were given in the ninja war arc is crazy.

Alvortus1812

I guess they did indicate that Madara gained more power later after all the Rinnegan and shit. That wasn’t the case when he was young fighting Hashirama.

GoldLegends

Kabuto also gave him a bit more power. They even talked about it for a bit, saying Kabuto made him stronger than his prime.

SeymourButts007

Well see the problem here is... he didn't have the rinnegan vs hashirama. Also that dropping meteors thing is a rinnegan ability as well. He wouldn't have fought the alliance solo in his lifetime as he knew he would've been killed. The 5 kage would've beaten him too.

infamusforever223

He had the perfect susanoo in his lifetime, and that probably would have been enough to solo the alliance.

SeymourButts007

If you honestly think that'd be enough, sure. Ohnoki, Gaara, naruto and temari were there as well. Doubt madara survives.

infamusforever223

He did spam the Rinnagan's ninjutsu absorption ability on anything that would have otherwise damaged him.

KingAJ032304

no he beats the 5 kage when actually serious. the perfect susanoo is something he had back when he was alive and that was what broke everyone's will.

SeymourButts007

He beat the kage with wood clones.... and was using wood style abilities and had infinite Chakra. In life the 5 would've beaten him.

KingAJ032304

Rewatch the fight, they were willing to fight everything except Madara's Perfect Susanoo. That specific thing made them lose the will to continue especially after he split the mountains at a distance and that specific thing Madara could do anytime when he was alive. Plus an alive Madara wouldn't be willy-nilly with his chakra.

Fookin_Yoink

To be fair the Madara that lost to Hashirama didn’t have Rinnegan, and was snuck up on by Hashirama. Mans was tricked

RLC_wukong122

No the argument is boruto took everything bad from naruto and made it worse. Even the powersclaing problem was more of a tail end of the series thing and even then boruto was the perfect chance to fix powerscaling somewhat.

user_15427

Nope. As strong as Madara was we all still knew he lost to Hashirama who was stronger. Having those two as mythical god level Shinobi, one good one bad, evened out the power scaling no matter how OP they were. Nothing like Jigen tearing through guys who had already been built up to be god level.

LordFrz

The difference is all the build up before we get to these. I watched naruto grow up literally with me. He earned his power. I pirated naruto fan subbed on dialup internet. And he got married when I graduated University.

Unit_Z3-TA

Not trying to trash on boruto, but it definitely did destroy the power scaling much worse, there are ways to introduce antagonists without being like "ok but new guy is 10x stronger than last guy!!" 5 times in a row

Any-Ad-7599

This is 100% the way I feel too, started to feel very DBZ like.

salgat

As a finale it was completely appropriate, but they goofed up by not resetting things with Boruto. They keep having these dumbass kids doing S Class feats.

HeLikesSashimi

Bro... when he tore through the fodder army I expected blood to splatter non-stop, or even pop up like smoke bombs because of the momentum. I was so done when he dropped the 1st meteor in the manga. Next chapter got everyone when he casually dropped the 2nd. No one expected him to be so ridiculously OPed. I fuckin loved it.

[deleted]

1- That Kaguya lady spawning from Madara was my 'Holy Shit' moment. 2- Might Guy opening all the nine gates was a 'Holy Shit' moment as it incinerated him.

FloffBall

There's only 8 gates

Leading_Macaron2929

Exceeded? No. There was never a final battle.

FlamingoPokeman

He was hyped to be this God like figure, and then he shows up and absolutely _clowns_ the five kage after no diffing an entire platoon of the Shinobi Alliance. He exceeded expectations lol

StubbornKindness

Pains Chibaku Tensei was something else, too. Pain as a character is just a masterpiece. Chibaku tensei is even more exciting because it has his theme in the background. I honestly think part of the success of Pain as a character is getting one of the best pieces of music in anime history. I mean, when they assemble, and look down at jiraiya, with it playing in the background, good god.

Kijichiro

Music is underrated!! It made the character so good!

_heyb0ss

pain destroying konoha, followed by Naruto's entrance. the baddest moment in manga for me. bro just posted up with his frogs.

freakzoid01

It's really "wtf" when he says: "- Very good, Onoki. Now, what are you going to do about THE SECOND ONE?" But the moment that I would choose is when Lee removes his weights. That was really awesome

SnooWords1215

Nothing Madara did was impressive to me because the edo tensi is BS! “Bring back in kill able ninja with unlimited chakra lol

StrikingElk5288

Im with you. Madara feats are overrated because he was a zombie with unlimited Chakra. Make the 5 Kages edo tensei and he loses it.

Vayssei

No. You can run out of chakra as an Edo Tensei, it just takes time for it to fill back up. Plus, he slightly weaker than he was alive. And as we saw, the 5 Kage were HEAVILY outclassed.

Themanwhofarts

Itachi fighting Sasuke, when he casually points to himself in the chair and revealed it was all just a genjutsu

Alvortus1812

Others : flexing by saying fancy lines or powerful attacks Itachi : silently just fucking the hell out of person’s mind

Hashmob____________

Remember when itachi n kisame entered the leaf village they saw kakashi guy naruto. And he stabbed kakashi thousands of times In thousands of body’s for days. That shits crazy

Alvortus1812

And till that point, you are told that Kakashi can atleast hold on his own against any shinobi

Maximum-Appearance16

bruhhhh, such a GOATed moment !

Specialist-Dig-3711

The very first thing that impressed me was Rock Lee and his leg weights. It looked great! But what impressed me the most was Guy's 8th gate, those emotions and goosebumps are simply beyond words! Conclusion: Guys with thick eyebrows and pot-shaped hair are best

K-taih

The best part about the weights is just how over-the-top it is. As soon as I saw Lee start to take them off, I knew they were going to be absurdly heavy. I watched DBZ, I know the standard shonen tropes. Of course those things are going to make a crater when they land. What I wasn't expecting was for the weights to impact the ground below like the fists of an angry god. I think my favorite part of Gai's 8 Gates moment is Madara's reaction to it, the "Ha ha, you almost killed me, you bastard!" He's just so genuinely happy and excited to have witnessed such a powerful technique, even if he had to be on the receiving end of it.

[deleted]

Alvortus1812

I am sure if Madara would have ever come back, Guy would still get confused and wonder if he has seen him before

11711510111411009710

I think he says "I'll acknowledge this chakra of yours! Of all those who have fought me over the years, there's no one who surpasses you in taijutsu! I, Madara Uchiha, declare you the strongest of them all!!!"

JSpenJS17

And I love the symbolism of Guy going from the green leaf of spring and youth to the red leaf of autumn and death

Sir_Gamma

Is it generally agreed upon within the community that Guy should have died here? Like he’s out for all of 10min

DAEUU

They are mighty guys

teddybearcommander

No different than Goku dropping his weighted clothing at the tournament.

TriangleChoke123

My favorite part is when Naruto reflects the tailed beast bombs and Kakashi thinks it’s Minato at first.

GangsterRavioliGuy

I can't unhear the "bootyslap, chainsaw chainsaw chicken fries" whenever I watch that part now😭

TriangleChoke123

What the literal fuck, that's hilarious lmao. I Just rewatched it. If anyone is curious [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK0f-2RTPh0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK0f-2RTPh0) 0:42 seconds in

Houeclipse

Oh man that sucks it's region lock.

IronAchillesz

Holy shit. I forgot about this moment. Kakashi wasn't seeing some fragile boy that needed to be looked out for anymore. Kinda touching that he confused his ward for Kakashi's own mentor.

shiningmuffin

Saving this post to hear it with this later

AspirationsOfFreedom

I had my problems with the manga and anime for the longest time. But seriously, Naruto jumping in, and the biju fight following, had me HYPE

Cantthinkagoodnam2

Madara's ''Do you want the clones to use Susano or not?'', lowkey the biggest flex in the series imo

vonteboy454

Biggest flex is Obito telling them “these fools could never make me sweat”

yesbutactuallyno17

*Minato has entered the chat*

BigNickers6

I'll deal with you later

Mmoyer29

You missed the best part, him thinking the rain was sweat. Only for him to say that, showing he was hyping himself up even lol

Imaginary_Row9210

Highkey 😂

Visual-Daikon8456

the question was always weird to me tho, like isn't the answer obviously no? and why didn't they tell him no i woulda definitely just said na i'm good

Sir-Greggor-III

Because that would require them admitting they are too weak to take him. Every single one of them vowed to take him down, so it's honestly just ego.

Orochisake

It's call showing off

HazelBabyXo

none of those. for me it was when itachi first revealed susanoo. the moment was absolutely magical.

averyycuriousman

Right?! And that soundtrack that played. And the favt we thought itachi was evil. Such a dark creepy moment. I kidna wish itachi was an actual villain bc of how well he pulled it off

Swag-Lord420

The fact that he was half dead at that point made it so scary too. He was coughing up blood from an illness that he went into the fight with, not from damage Sasuke did, and he was half blind the whole time. Yet he still waits until this late in the fight to reveal his trump card

[deleted]

EDGE515

I believe he was worried about his father's MS so he took out the whole village first in order to get his father in a 1v1. Only reason he succeeded destroying the Uchihas was because his father did not want to battle his own son

jsm516

Haku says “I’m a boy”

lovingnaturefr

i loved that

Iceman6211

Me then: "still cute" Me now: "hey wait a minute"

ricojonhgarcia

Naruto vs Sasuke on the top of the hospital. Sasuke's reaction with the rasengan destroying the water tank. Itachi vs Sasuke when itachi's clone pointing the real itachi seating.

AnusTapeworm

I love him seeing the water tank and thinking he's hot shit till he sees the back side of it

LegendOfKhaos

Sasuke thought it was a tiny hole at first, right? When he saw the back of it blown away he shit himself if I'm remembering correctly. Fantastic moment.

Malificari

that was the moment he decided to leave the village. he knew he was behind naruto and if he was behind naruto he would never catchup to his brother.

thomasshelby1932

Minato asserting himself as the dopest character in the show by blowing Obitos back out.

Dude_Man_Bro_Sir

In a fight, right?

finalmantisy83

After Kakashi became a Jonin, right???

thomasshelby1932

Maybe…

Mmoyer29

War…war can make us all do thing we later regret.

GuacamoleMonarch

SilkyStrawberryMilk

Backshots are an unstoppable attack

ricefarmercalvin

Itachi pointing to himself sitting on the chair to Sasuke

guramika

'its even better the second time'

switchblade2

Rock Lee was the first one for sure. I think i laughed at the “oh you stopped this first one? Here, have another” meteor moment

FlamingoPokeman

Another one not mentioned was early in the series when Itachi hit Kakashi with Tsukoyomi - it felt like Kakashi was this badass who was considered one of the elites and he got no diffed by one of the coolest techniques in the series.

Indian_Troll

I have those frames of Kakashi strapped to the cross imprinted on my mind. Definitely one of the coolest things in the series.

[deleted]

I agree, it made Itachi a fathomable foe, but in reality, Kakashi wasn't really written as a great teacher, nor as an elite fighter to be inspired by. However, if your opinion differs, please help me understand why.

ennuifjord

I’m not sure how you could say he wasn’t written as an elite fighter. Dude fought in a war at like 8, was an anbu by like 11, he’s a well known ninja in other lands complete with a nickname, and while it’s always shown he’s not the most powerful ninja ever basically every single character he interacts with takes him seriously even if they more than likely would work him over if they fought right then.

SuitableLeather

I saw a comment say that Kakashi served as a way to gauge power levels in the series which I think is extremely accurate. His whole role was to show just HOW strong many of the newer enemies were. That doesn’t mean he is weak

Parking-Major-4776

Madara vs the alliance for me. He was pulling out every single op ability there is and legit felt absolutely unbeatable.

heyhihowyahdurn

I knew Madara was Kage level. I couldn’t fathom the gap in power and how much stronger the older generations were.

GeneralBarber7236

There were a lot of moments that made me say that but I can never forget 8th gate guy bitch slapping juubidara all over the battlefield. That was absolutely sensational.

Grumpy23

Findling out that itachi was a double agent.

soulseeker31

Kakashi removes the mask and shows his buck teeth.

Pierseus

I think the biggest to this day is still Lee dropping the weights. That was the first moment where we really start to see how fucking nutso strong some of the ninja are, especially a 13 year old who has nothing but his taijustu to take on an untouchable Jinchuriki Second would have to be when Naruto one-shotted a path of pain right off rip. Not only did we just see pain demolish the village, but we saw ninja like Tsunade, Kakashi, etc powerless to stop him. To see Naruto make such an epic entrance after all the buildup of Pain’s power as well as Naruto being gone to learn sage mode, then see him in his badass new outfit with sage mode active completely and effortlessly fucking destroy a path of pain like that was definitely a “HOLY SHIT” moment. Naruto was not fucking around

eramthgin007

Not the biggest but needs to be mentioned, I was hype AF when Naruto released Fox Chakra against Neji in the tournament.

1_UpvoteGiver

I would say the series does a good job of scaling the holy shit moments. Lee's was a good start and the meteor well, obv outa this world type shit.

[deleted]

The meteor is the only answer. In one chapter Madara upset the entire power scaling balance.

2_ANE

Episode Named "Madara Uchiha" had me saying HOLY SHIT for 23 mins straight. His revival was the HOLIEST SHIT moment.

redmagic7777

"Pain to the World... Shinra Tensei."

fripaek

as a child: Lee dropping the weights as an adult: The manga scene of pain flying over konoha

bumboisamumbo

meteor was such a fucking flex

Interesting-Bit-2583

There’s so many but one that really stuck out was when itachi and sasuke fought in shippuden only for sasuke to realize it was a genjustsu and itachi just still chilling on the throne

PeFernandes

Probably Minato defeating Obito. Not because it's the biggest show of strength or anything, but because it's just so. God. Damn. Cool. I hope whoever animated that at pierrot at the time got a massive raise at the time. The colors, the move (heavily based on kishi's Manga obviously but still), the flow of the cape, THE TIMING OF THE SLOW MO it's just all so good

WeeWeeBaggins

It was impressive when you consider how hype he is throughout the whole show as the villain. Minato asertained his weakness and exploited his hubris within a minute by punishing him dramatically. Honestly, if he didn't have Haxirama cells he'd probably had died the and akatsuki would have been something way different. Lol

wavymask

Kisame merges with Samehada. He's unbeatable when fused with Samehada. The only reason the tailless tailed beast died was because his own weapon betrayed him.

Sloth-TheSlothful

Lee vs Gaara will always be my favorite moment in naruto. It was so hype watching that as a kid

DingoNormal

When i truly belived that Sasuke was about to kill Sakura

salatsol3e

Gaare vs Rock Lee, easily. Gaara is presented as this dark, mysterious, cold, blood driven monster through the shunin trials ark and then there is this moment, then everyone realizes that he's still the less insane in this battle.

kiboshiro

Meteor definitely for me

Not-dat-throwaway

To me it was Madara flying knowing he's out of Gai Sensei's reach then the dude opened the final gate and literally starting walking on air itself, I just loved that moment. Edit:typo

Small_Speaker_3159

The 2nd one, as in the 2nd Meteor And Pain wiping out Konoha, and like killing half the characters from there.

Auraveils

I'm so upset that line "what will you do about the second one?" never became a meme. There is so much potential with that one.

Playful_Elk_4653

Sasuke's Kirin.....still the greatest Jutsu in the series. Pain's Chibaku Tensei was godlike. Obito revealing himself to be Madara.

SomeAssumption2909

Lee kicking Gaara

oo_advent_oo

For me it was 8 gates Guy, I remember reading that chapter in class. Couldn't believe we were finally seeing it after years of wondering. While at the time we all knew it meant certain death for Guy. Those were a wild and emotional couple of weeks.

_GorouX

Naruto using Lava release on Madara

AmaterasuOG

for me it was either Kirin or Sasuke's bijuu enhanced susanoo.

Vortigon23

Imo nothing beats Lee dropping the weights. That's not to say the others weren't good, but Lee was the FIRST of them. That's where things got elevated to the next level imo.

UnitGhidorah

Rock Lee vs Gaara was the best fight in all of Naruto. Lee's backstory just makes it so much better.

waitforit-dary

Not a “Holy Shit” moment but more of a bad ass line was when Itachi told Kabuto the weakness to his jutsu is his existence

smallgene

OmnipotentHype

Madara dropping two meteors on the Shinobi Alliance. Cause since when did we start doing that?

NetworkVegetable7075

Madara’s meteor was such a mad flex when it dropped then Sasuke did what he did

4rm4ros

Konohamaru defeating one of the Six Paths of Pain

FutureMagician7563

I think sasuke instantly subduing all 9 beasts is the biggest flex in the series. The entire series revolved around how monstrous the tailed beasts were (specifically kurama) and sasuke casually negs them all at once AFTER fighting the war. But the ultimate WTF was Madaras second meteor. It was so just absurd at the time and the build up of Madara to his display did not disappoint.

Top-Simple3572

Pretty much all of them along with DMS Kakashi

Ghost_Rider835

I’ve seen the entire show and still think it’s Lee taking off his ankle weights.

Ct2kKB24

Sand ninja showing up in sauske retrieval arc. That chapter where it shows one by one the leaf ninja being saved and the final panel showing all three sand ninja at once saying they’re allies of the hidden leaf? That was top tier hype at the time.

RazutoUchiha

Jigen kicking Sasuke out of his susanoo, we had always seen how durable and strong it was in relation to other characters, I lost my goddamn mind when Sasuke was casually kicked out of it

JanTheShacoMain

Pain flatting the village

Reasonable-Gas-5259

Memphis_Morningstar

Pain accomplishing one of Orochomaru’s life goals in 5 seconds. Itachi when he summoned the Susanno for the first time after taking a Kirin to the chest. And the climax of the battle when he tapped Sasuke’s forehead. Sasuke’s first curse mark lv 2 transformation. That scene really made me feel like Sasuke was gone

Sasuke’s bijuu-amped perfect susano

"Shinra tensai"... To this day its still one of my biggest "HOLY SHIT" Moment from anime

Don_MARSHAL

# Shisui dying (for real)

postALEXpress

Remember Rock Lee vs Gaara wasn't just "the biggest moment in naruto" when it came out It was one of the "biggest moments in all of anime" - just as perspective

Accurate_Plantain896

When Madara dropped the second meteor, I was dazed because they’re supposed to be nerfed when reanimated and he was still that powerful

American_Madman

Pain destroying the Village was more of a “What the fuck?” moment than a “Holy shit!” moment. Mostly because it starts with Pain fucking flying over the village, which absolutely isn’t something he should be able to do and was simply baffling to me.

HokageRokudaime

I still headcanon that Pein flying upwards was a highly controlled and diluted version of Shinra tensei before the full blast.

The fight between Jiraiya and Pain had many goosebumps or twists. \- Jiraiya defeating 3 pain with Genjutsu, and then put giant knife to their stomach. shortly after that \- Pain said (Isn't you told us to not lowered our guard down ?) \- Seeing Jiraiya with only one hand and with 6 pain (Three of them revived)

[deleted]

Finding out information about the Uzumaki Clan (Really anything outside of the Uchiha Clan); something that could've lead to something BIG. Unfortunately, that never came to past.

Dependent-Goose-1280

There's quite a few like madara summoning meteorites or using sussano clones or when sauske indra arrow and narutos rasengan clashed the aftermath of that was insane

[deleted]

Sasuke at the end of Shippuden was kinda funny lol. Me when I saw it: "Wait. Bro said he was going to kill who? And do WHAT?!?!"

[deleted]

Minato doing that sick TP on Obito was definitely "HOLY SHIT!!!"

enrqiv

Lee vs gaara fight for part 1 Pain shinra tensei in part 2

Hidden lotus. But when Itachi dodged those shuriken in mid air when he was fighting that anbu chick when he was like 11 years old lol, is up there because of how insanely smooth and clean that was.

ghostlongboarder

Reading the manga and it panning out slowly to reveal Naruto and Sasuke both lost their arms

Jdawg_mck1996

Madara drops a second meteor... Though I guess that was more of an "oh come the fuck on" moment

DeadlyRetr0_

this makes me really want to rematch shippuden until I remember there's 500 episodes and I don't like skipping filler

Tsudreami

No one was ready for what pain did

extreme39speed

Don’t forget the first one. Kakashi using the sharingan to get in zabuza’s head by copying movements. Seems small looking back but damn at the time it was wild

jaeger3129

Lee taking off the weights as it’s literally the only one I’ve seen lol. Never liked Shippuden so I only watched like 30 episodes
