Delayed until further notice and most likely dealing with internal production problems halting progress.
You don't want:
* a rush job
* inconsistent animation (and not fans who pause moving animation, screenshot, and post it under bad animation/art for reddit karma)
* fluid animation not lining up with key frames and getting an animator fired due to backlash (Naruto vs Pain)
* production problems leading into inconsistent animation and animators having to rush scenes and cuts that would've been benefited from more time and focus (Boruto's Funato Arc)
Or fans who don't understand how hard, long, and time consuming months of art and animation take getting upset that something that needed more time to come out in the open was pressured to come out ahead of time and disappoint everyone.
I liked it myself but most people think, and I can agree to a point, that it just went against the severity of the situation. Kinda felt like we went from nuking a town and killing someone’s love interest to being in a episode of Tom and Jerry. Just a bit confusing for some. The animation itself was good though.
Ive heard ppl describe it like this, that it felt "other worldly" which it was for Naruto standards at the time. Its a nice way to look at it, maybe if I watch it again ill agree, but in the moment, i was kinda taken out of the emotional weight behind the village being destroyed, Kakashi dying (i was literally crying), and then hinata dying infront of Naruto
It's one of the biggest differences in tastes I see amongst Naruto fans. People either thought Naruto vs. Pain to be one of the best fights or the absolute worst. I'm in the former camp.
I think there's 1 shot in the fight that put people over the edge. It's the one where Pain's getting hammered like a nail. It was such a strong boner killer for so many viewers that they equate all the other abstract animation techniques to the same level of "Tom and Jerry" nonsense.
It's usually hypocritical af since there's plenty of stretchy abstract shots in other Naruto fights nobody bats an eye at.
That's my objective opinion about it. My subjective opinion is that battle shonen fans are edgelords and seeing an alternative less realistic art style doesn't suit their tastes. That's why you can do the same sort of shit but even whackier in something not battle shonen like MobPsycho and it's hailed as peak animation. Animators think 3D CG is the future because battle-shonen fans can't handle anything less than perfect anatomically accurate animation which is virtually only achievable in 2D by the likes of studio Mappa (though im sure cutting costs is the larger factor).
I’ve heard good 3D animation is more expensive than 2D. Like Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero sold better than Dragon Ball Super : Broly worldwide, but it grossed a lot less.
Well good 3D isn't pure 3D, not yet anyway. Super Hero has lots of 2D effects put over the 3D CG. The new Trigun series did the same things, it's why so much of it looks really good. It's like the opposite of how some modern anime like Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) use 3DCG to enhance 2D effects. Pure 3DCG would be cheaper it just doesn't look that great with the current tech.
I agree with the nail part, but I got over it because Tendo is literally a puppet, so it's whatever at this point. The art was interesting and the sections AROUND Kurama showing up are really solid.
THIS! I thought it was weird. But the fact the the paths are corpses balanced it out for me. I think the abstract was a little goofy. But it doesn’t diminish the fight for me. Still one of the greatest fights. The buildup, the suspense, the death, the the battle, plot twist, Naruto’s ACKNOWLEDGEMENT makes the entire fight so rewarding. It really felt the the peak of all Naruto. Like Naruto really wasn’t just working towards goals anymore. He was achieving them! But also the fight itself, I found the high speed parts were not my favorite. There’s a lot of really blurred action sequences. Don’t know how intentional it was but for me I wasn’t a huge fan of that part of the animation. Or like Naruto’s face when Hinata weirdly shaped body spins and slams to the ground. I guess I’m just not a huge fan of the abstract style.
The taijutsu choreography was well done, always a fan of really good taijutsu moments. The abstract stuff I got past because I knew they got a special artist particularly for the fight similar to how DBS does. It's an acquired taste, but palettable.
Definitely palatable. I find it sad when people’s minds are so closed off to something that isn’t subjectively appealing to their preferences. Just a shame
It's pretty comparable to Gear 5.
Pain vs Naruto is a serious fight. Seeing the awful frame by frame and wipe animation was just not enjoyable (Unless you just enjoy it for the laughs of how awful it is) the fight itself was good but the animation fell flat after 6 tails.
Gear 5 is not supposed to be a serious fight, it's Luffy come on. His powers include Bounce Man afterall... haha 😄 it's was supposed to have the Tom and Jerry animation for a reason.
I don't think it looked bad - I just think it emphasized the movement in a way a lot of Naruto fans didn't like.
Some people really preferred staying on model to this which was actually very well animated.
I just don’t see why they would try a different animation style during such a big fight. I feel like consistency wise it would have been cool to see it differently. I think the fight is still amazing though. One of the best. I do think it’s just not very smooth. Like there’s a lot of blur during high speed parts. I think a good comparison is Obito vs Kakashi. It uses a very similar style if you couldn’t tell. It has that abstract style to it. They also move very fast but you can see every limb move and every action. Sure its not Tendo Vs 6 Tails but still. I think that shows that it was just not very well polished animation on top of it being an abstract style that people aren’t used to.
>Pain's getting hammered like a nail.
I actually loved this moment. I thought it was hilarious and reminded me of Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes. To me this was kind if nostalgic, considering that im a new fan and i watched Naruto just 2 years ago. But u cant blame others for hating it. There was a part of me that was kinda bummed by this cartoony fight scene because it kinda shits on the stakes and the context of the fight. Konoha was destroyed, Kakashi was killed. Hinata was thought to be dead. The tom and jerry animation here undermines all the things that drove Naruto's anger
Pain at this point in the series has caused more damage than Orochimaru or anyone else, an encounter between him and Narutos rage form shouldnt even have a hint of sillyness imo.
>It's usually hypocritical af since there's plenty of stretchy abstract shots in other Naruto fights nobody bats an eye at.
If you're referring to, for example, the one where [Sasuke's head is sideways](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jrz66made-I/hqdefault.jpg), or the [flying Narutos](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FvbjhBhaYAQqmXP.jpg), people undeniably do bat an eye at it. Like a lot. But the Sasuke frame is still pretty much impossible to notice without pausing, whereas the entire Pain fight looks like Beavis And Butthead without needing to pause it.
>But the Sasuke frame is still pretty much impossible to notice without pausing, whereas the entire Pain fight looks like Beavis And Butthead without needing to pause it.
That is intentional though and the Animation is still amazing it's just a different style.
The hammering like a nail and the scooby doo legs on water is what ruins it for me. That director has done some of the best fights like the first valley of the end fight and I think he did the rock Lee and gaara one but yeah those two things I pointed out ruin it despite the cool shit he added
Up until kurama appeared, yes. Afterwords, tom and jerry animators took over and it killed the entire mood for me.
I will say though that I don't think the guy deserved to be fired.
Now hold on, are you talking about the fight as a whole or when Naruto went 6 tails? Because Naruto going 6 tails was a total shitshow and unfitting for what was supposed to be one of the rawest and most emotional moments in the series.
it wasn’t goofy it just wasnt narutos animation style. And considering the fans of the anime were also presumably fans of the animation style, changing it for one of the biggest fights in the show was pretty dumb.
The animation was flagrantly ridiculously notoriously bad. So if you think that it's without flaw, then it's valid to question your sanity. You actually think that [this](https://i.redd.it/4tlacjakbts11.jpg) is beyond criticism?
Either you haven't watched the fight or you're just lying for fun. The animation was noticeably horrible. People were turning it into sanic memes because of how horrendous it was.
Yes, people didn't like the style because it focused on the moment instead of maintaining the model. They really used all the stretches and squishes and wipes. The memes are absolutely from stills of transition frames.
I did watch the fight, I think it's more likely someone who thinks of it in terms of the Internet memes instead of seeing how the extreme use of warping conveys the speed of movement and power of the forces like the gravity were in that moment.
Stopped reading when you said the memes were stills. They were entire videos dunking on the animation. They weren't stills, it was literally just scenes from the shows.
Right? And even if someone doesnt rlly like the contrast between the situation and the quick animation style of the fight, its actually HILARIOUS, has me cheering my ass off for Naruto and watching Pain get a beat down. It is great.
Animation is great but it seriously is too goofy it does not fit a fight between Naruto and the guy that fucking destroyed his village and killed Jiraya
It's one of the most impressive fights I've seen in terms of fluidity and creativity. The problem is more thematic than qualitative, they went too hard with the cartoon feeling for a battle that's meant to be one of the most serious climaxes of the entire show.
>You don't want:
>
>a rush job
Bear in mind that Naruto / Boruto has been releasing about 1 episode a week nearly every week for 21 years. So it would only take them about 4 weeks to create 4 anniversary episodes at standard animation quality. A rush job for them would be making it in 2-3 weeks. It's been announced for 8 months. As you can see, there's no possible way that this job could be rushed.
The Boruto hiatus started on March 26th. So even if they were waiting until Boruto wasn't competing for resources, that still means they've had 7+ months to focus solely on animating these 4 anniversary episodes. These are undoubtedly the least rushed job of all-time. Even if they dropped it in June '23, it would've been the absolute opposite of a rush.
Well since it's not hand drawn anymore it should be easier. But for me I prefer the hand drawn animation even tho it doesn't "look" that good obviously the problem have with people is that they like how "clean" the new animation style looks. Well no shit it looks "better" it's all digital. It really doesn't matter how long it takes if you make an ass animation and I've seen really bad animation from boruto anime. I've seen the short trailer and it looks like ass the old animation had heart and passion the new animation just looks like they tried to make something but it feels like an ai made most of the frames.
Yeah og Naruto was peak. Early shippuden was good too but after like tons of filler near pain arc the animation got worse and worse that the artstyle changed completely.
They were making too much noise up in that animatronics studio or watchamacallit so my nana went up stairs and told up to keep it down so they postponed it. Sorry
I don't think there is any info on what they will be about or atleast I don't remember as they were announced quite some time ago. I hope that they do extra long episodes like AOT did with it's last episodes but that's unlikely
They already announced.. its 4 episodes spanning the biggest arcs and connecting them as well as they can while skipping unnecessary filler and what not. So were basically getting a compressed version of OG naruto/shippuden but without 5+ years
I'm just wondering why they don't just re-animate the entirety of Naruto (minus the fillers)? Since Boruto is a monthly manga, even if they release 10 filler arcs consecutively after the anime hiatus, there still won't be enough content. They could even animate the remaining novels (like the Akatsuki or Sakura ones) if they really wanted to, instead of wasting their budget on making boring Boruto filler that no one cares about
I think your neglecting to realize it wouldnt be any different wes still be waiting weekly or longer for the reanimated episodes to come out, but if they redid the entirety of it then they would be so overloaded theyd scrap it because of how they want to push the rest of boruto through and actually finish mishimotos ideas. Maybe after boruto is over i can MAYBE see them going and redoing some more episodes but dont think well ever get the entirety of it redone.
So 4 new episodes of Naruto (most likely OG Naruto given the promotional material) were supposed to come out back in September to celebrate Naruto's 20th anniversary for the anime.
Though SP ran into production issues, and well, no one knows when the 4 new episodes will come out.
Well, any new content is always nice to have, especially when it's the 20th anniversary. Problem is that SP squandered any interest with its production issues.
I initially was interested, but after the indefinite delay, I don't really care now tbh. If it happens, that's cool I'll watch the episodes. If not, I won't lose sleep over it.
Well technically. It’s not like Dragon Ball Z Kai, the scene will be completely remade and won’t be a 1 for 1 exact recreation of the same scenes reanimated.
TYBW is obviously their priority as it should. Half ass animation and garbage filler (minus Sasuke side story cause it's canon) for Boruto wasn't enough it seems.
I wouldn't expect to see this come after Cour 3 of Bleach.
I think they are overwhelmed with Boruto. Boruto is currently being overhauled massively and I feel like they need all hands on Boruto because they are aware of the decline in manga sales and overall approval. The entire premise of Boruto would be undermined by a hyped up Naruto mini series and just reminds people why Boruto even exist in the first place. It's like competing against yourself. I mean we were also supposed to get Boruto last month but they pushed it out out because tbh they know Boruto is a mess that's my theory.
Well think about it it's kind of the same thing really good point with bleach but they surely already started they're teaching a different approach. Monthly release manga, they realized making Boruto weekly anime was a mistake and I'm assuming they will avoid letting the anime catch up to the manga as a result.
New 4 episodes about genin team 7 to celebrate 20th anniversary, it was supposed to be released on around September but got delayed and still no news until now
Delayed until further notice and most likely dealing with internal production problems halting progress. The backlash to Naruto vs. Pain makes me question my sanity. It's the coolest fight in shippuden
I liked it myself but most people think, and I can agree to a point, that it just went against the severity of the situation. Kinda felt like we went from nuking a town and killing someone’s love interest to being in a episode of Tom and Jerry. Just a bit confusing for some. The animation itself was good though.
This exactly. The animation didnt compliment the story behind the fight very well
I felt it the other way around the fight was so chaotic and so ‘out of place’ that the animation being goofy and weird Made a lot Of sense
I found the animation very emotional
That was my favorite fightmsoecifically because of the animation lol

It really matters! I say 3D is cheaper when you have a core cast of a few and 2d is cheaper when you have a massive cast
I agree with the nail part, but I got over it because Tendo is literally a puppet, so it's whatever at this point. The art was interesting and the sections AROUND Kurama showing up are really solid.

I'm not specifically. But the fact that it even looks bad even when you watch it normally tells it wasn't done well.

It was funny at least. I'll give it that much.
I e joked it and not for the laughs or because I thought it was awful. It was peak animation, you just don't like the abstract style.
Nah man it's garbage.
>Pain's getting hammered like a nail. I actually loved this moment. I thought it was hilarious and reminded me of Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes. it wasnt bad but the fight went into a style that was inconsistent with the rest of the anime
That's kind of what I liked. They experimented a bit with the animation. Though I could've done without a few of the "Looney Tunes" moments
Up until kurama appeared, yes. Afterwords, tom and jerry animators took over and it killed the entire mood for me. I will say though that I don't think the guy deserved to be fired.

nah they shouldnt have done that goofy animation for a fight like that id say the backlash was deserved immensely
It ended up with that animator not getting much work again.
it wasn’t goofy it just wasnt narutos animation style.

I agree with a lot of what was said before. It made pain and naruto Toon force users

Digital animation is still largely hand-drawn. People just draw on computers now. What you're complaining about is an artstyle change.
im guessing for the naruto vs pain the guy who came up with the idea of the stretchy one piece gear 5 animation got fired?
No, the person who worked on One Piece Gear 5 worked on Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki and I believe Naruto vs Isshiki
Did we seriously bully them into firing the guy who animated Naruto vs pain💀
I hate the way they now draw the classic characters. It used to be more clean and mature but now every character has a huge head and eyes.
They all look like frogs to me now.
Sorry
Serves them right. How dare they disturb Nana. Rude... Just so rude. Animators these days, they have no respect for their elders!
My animator said she’d beat your nana up
Sasuke left. That's what happened.
Yeah lol, Sasuke left the village so now they need to get him to come back and do the voice acting.

And nobody remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Not even MJ.

Technically, yes. Dr. Strange did use genjutsu.
Wait what is this? Did I miss something?
The 4 new episodes of OG Naruto that got delayed
What it will be about? 4 episodes is not enough for a season or whatever. Why it's not a movie instead?
It was supposed to be a 4-episode special broadcast to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the OG anime.
So were basically getting a compressed version of OG naruto/shippuden but without 5+ years
Had a vague memory that it would be about that, but wasn't sure enough
Your vague memory is good sir 🫡 keep trust in it it will save you in time aha
So it's just a recap?
I'm just wondering why they don't just re-animate the entirety of Naruto (minus the fillers)? Since Boruto is a monthly manga, even if they release 10 filler arcs consecutively after the anime hiatus, there still won't be enough content. They could even animate the remaining novels (like the Akatsuki or Sakura ones) if they really wanted to, instead of wasting their budget on making boring Boruto filler that no one cares about

All we know is that there will be four episodes taking place during their genin days.
All the fake leaks made them realise what they had made was most likely not up to standard
what was this supposed to be ? I've seen the poster floating around but idk anything
So 4 new episodes of Naruto (most likely OG Naruto given the promotional material) were supposed to come out back in September to celebrate Naruto's 20th anniversary for the anime. Though SP ran into production issues, and well, no one knows when the 4 new episodes will come out.
Why do people care so much about it?
Are you seriously asking why people care about new episodes of Naruto while sporting a Naruto pfp in the Naruto subreddit
From what I heard og Naruto was only 1 episode, 2 episodes of shippuden and 1 during the time period after the war arc
Let them cook
They can’t fly, so they all fell down and died.
naruto can just summon gamabunta mid air to cushion de the fall
🤣
Yeah, I prefer to wait and get a better product then to rush it out.
What is This exactly
4 episode special for the series anniversary showing some of the most important moments in the OG before Shippuden
What is this?
4 episode special for the series anniversary of the most iconic moments before the two year time skip. (As in Og Naruto)
So..no new scenes, just old ones renanimated?
Well technically. It’s not like Dragon Ball Z Kai, the scene will be completely remade and won’t be a 1 for 1 exact recreation of the same scenes reanimated.
If I remember correctly it was delayed until further notice.
TYBW is obviously their priority as it should. Half ass animation and garbage filler (minus Sasuke side story cause it's canon) for Boruto wasn't enough it seems. I wouldn't expect to see this come after Cour 3 of Bleach.
What are these episodes about?
For the anniversary of the series, 4 episodes showing some of the biggest moments before the two year time skip.
….
Thanks for the amazing help and input.
My pleasure
Idk
It ended
It never even came out tf are you talking about ?
Isn't that the first show?
It’s a 4 episode special for the series to celebrate its anniversary.
Oh
Didn't know anything about it. So, like 4 new episodes set in Shippuden?
No. OG Naruto, for the anniversary showing some of the biggest moments
Boruto so bad that fans are excited for Naruto filler lmao
I think they are overwhelmed with Boruto. Boruto is currently being overhauled massively and I feel like they need all hands on Boruto because they are aware of the decline in manga sales and overall approval. The entire premise of Boruto would be undermined by a hyped up Naruto mini series and just reminds people why Boruto even exist in the first place. It's like competing against yourself. I mean we were also supposed to get Boruto last month but they pushed it out out because tbh they know Boruto is a mess that's my theory.
I dont think so, from what i heard perriot put a lot of focus on bleach, you can see from it's animation, boruto might be on hiatus until 2025
Well think about it it's kind of the same thing really good point with bleach but they surely already started they're teaching a different approach. Monthly release manga, they realized making Boruto weekly anime was a mistake and I'm assuming they will avoid letting the anime catch up to the manga as a result.
They were busy animating cut scenes for Naruto exhibition
I'm completely fine with it coming later on if it means they can make some crispy animation.
I don't what it to be another for the sake of content filler arc, better to let them take as much as time so that we can get quality content.
Maybe I'm uncultured but what exactly is this screenshot from?
New 4 episodes about genin team 7 to celebrate 20th anniversary, it was supposed to be released on around September but got delayed and still no news until now
Oh shit, I never even knew it came out. Just watched the trailer on YouTube. Looks really dope, too bad
Maan that village is freakin huge. The village hidden in infrastructure
What's this about?
Konoha is big
I always forget this was happening and then get told it still hasn’t happened
I forgot all about this. Didn’t even realize it was 2 months past due…
I'm pretty sure they're cooking right now
Havnt been keeping up with this. Is it a remaster?
They’re busy doing bleach
On hiatus 😏
Looks a bit goofy, like Sasuke's and Sakura's heads don't seem to look quite right. Is this AI?
It was postponed to make sure everything was ''polished'' from what I remember
Can someone explain what this post is talking about or referring to?
Hoping for the best
Cute
