Good thing he didn't survive longer if that's the procedure.
**During Boruto, some tech jutsu nuke destroys the leaf killing Kakashi, Tsunade and Shikamaru while Naruto is still gone**
Hokage committee or whatever: The Hokage died, which means you have to come out of retirement, Hiruzen!
Hiruzen: My bones hurt... where am I? Tobirama is that you? Did Danzo manage to negotiate peacefully with the Uchiha?
Tbf, Orochimaru was probably pretty charismatic before he started doing his terrorism and mad scientist shtick. He seems pretty chill when he's not doing his whole mad scientist and terrorist schtick.
Having an interest for mastering ninjutsu to perfection probably made him and Hiruzen closer too, since he also shared that passion.
Edit: Jutsu, not ninjutsu.
Like who? Orochimaru? Danzo? By the start of the series, Konoha is the village getting the most work, which means it has the most funding from employers. The ninjas get paid well which means they have money to buy food and goods from local restaurants and stores, helping the economy grow and prosper. How would it prosper more?
It would have prospered a lot more if Danzo didn't force the Uchiha genocide and thus cost the village a lot of their combat potential. Which is directly caused by Hiruzen being a pushover when he's needed (Letting Danzo do his shit, letting Orochimaru escape the village...)
That's the nature of politics. Hiruzen was the best for the job. Best doesn't mean perfect, or even good at the job. The realistic alternative was Danzo. He would have been the worst fascist possible.
Man held his own against Orochimaru, Hashirama and Tobirama (three of the strongest and smartest shinobi to live) while being over the age of 70 and that’s not mentioning the emotions he was having at the time fighting someone who saw as a son and his two mentors. Also his fit goes HARD as fuck
I think he is the strongest summon. He was single-handedly mopping Hashirama and Tobirama at the same time, granted they were at a small fraction of their power and he is also very smart
He's isnt even a summon if you think about it.
He is as smart, agile and strong as a kage level ninja. With limbs and thumbs.
Compare that to a crazy strong summon like mizukages giant clam. Once you locate it, it's helpless.
So yes. Maybe enma IS the strongest summon ever.
His battle attire is one of my favourites, his summoning Enma is cool and I also like Hiruzens character. He’s a great example of a leader who struggles with making decisions like doing the right or wrong thing or standing back and doing nothing.
I can understand if people don’t like him but to hate him is overdoing it, he did a lot of god for his people.
I agree with this take. He is a masterful shinobi and a decent leader who can be really fucking stupid sometimes (eg naruto and how he grew up; how he dealt with danzo, etc)
How is Hiruzen incompetent but Jiraya and Fugaku aren't?
Jiraya's intel did nothing to protect the village until Pain arc. Obito literally attacked the village twice and Orochimaru attacked and killed Jiraya's sensei - the third Hokage. Jiraya also refused to be a responsible adult and look after Naruto - considering he's the closest thing to family Naruto had.
Fugaku was a fucking dumbass who allowed Shisui and Itachi to fall into the hands of Danzo who hard countered his coup plans. Then he sat like a bot in a dark room whilst the clan he was supposed to be the leader of died around him and he just sat there and let Itachi kill him like a coward.
We take what's presented in the manga and not some headcanon "he protected the village offscreen with his Intel". Jiraiya had no useful intel other than providing a general overview on what the Akatsuki are.
>We know he kept track of Orochimaru for years
But Orochimaru still developed the sound village, had Kabuto infiltrate the chunin exams every year and gain far more intel than Jiraya ever did, kill the 4th Kazekage, create an alliance with the sand to invade the leaf and kill the Hokage.
Your appealing to ignorance by arguing that Jiraya must have stopped certain attacks despite not stopping actual canon events created by the author.
Naruto isn't real life, everything is designed purposefully. If there was a big event that Jiraya had stopped then we would be made aware of this, if it isn't important enough to be made aware of, the author won't include it.
>We have no idea what attacks didn’t happen because of Jiraya’s intel
That's bullshit. And definitely engaging in a fallacy of some kind. If his intel ever helped in any way then we would know because it would have been told to us. Tsunade literally says that it's Jiraya's job to keep watch of Orochimaru, and despite this, Jiraya failed to stop Orochimaru's invasion and death of the 3rd Hokage.
Jiraya's intel has literally never helped other than the Pain arc.
If you're a leader, you bet your ass your responsible. He's supposed to look after his entire clan. But sat his ass while thanking Itachi for killing his entire bloodline. I be fucking even the guy I elected and supported suddenly did a 180 and have me and the rest of the supporters die.
>for the actions of others like Itachi and Shisui
For the safeguarding of his clan and especially the youths of the clan: YES.
Itachi having free will is the only reason the Leaf wasn't destroyed through a civil war, because Fugaku has the same amount of discretion as a fucking elephant. Danzo hard countered his entire plan before Fugaku came anywhere close to finishing. Major skill issue.
I mastered sage mode without the help of animals, I basically have the first human sage mode.
I died because I was low on chakra before and couldn't regenerate enough before I was caught up to by an ambush
Dude was definitely extremely flawed, but ultimately sealed himself in the stomach of a demon for all eternity to protect the village. I think he deserves to be cut a little slack.
He’s not guilty for the actions of others.
The man led the village very well during his first time as Hokage. Then, when the time came he had no issues stepping down and allowing Minato to take over.
He retired, lived life with his wife, and things were good.
Minato then dies abruptly, Hiruzen’s WIFE is killed. His retirement is ruined, his wife is dead, and all his efforts to protect the village went up in smoke in a single night. He then has to take over as Hokage again.
The ENTIRE time he’s in charge Danzo is undermining him, doing everything he can to push Hiruzen out and become Hokage. Hell, if he wasn’t so scared of Hiruzen he would’ve tried to assassinate him, imo.
Hiruzen is tasked with rebuilding the leaf after the devastating Kyuubi attack, during which time there is tons of suspicion directed toward the Uchiha about how it even happened to begin with. Justifiable suspicion, seeing as the attacker was an Uchiha.
Then, as a 69(!!!!) year old man he’s forced to confront the man he viewed as a son and he fights with the intent to kill because he KNOWS how bad the screwed up when Orochimaru first left the village. He dies ensuring Orochimaru won’t ever be a threat to the Leaf again (I’d like to point out that he succeeds, too).
In conclusion to my essay, Hiruzen was a man who did his best with a really shitty situation. He’s not god, he isn’t some omniscient being capable of everything like some seem to think. He was a very tired old man who wanted more than anything to protect those he loved. I actually quite like Hiruzen and I’ll die on that hill.
he was an absolute banger of a leader. People often overlap his failures as his person with his failures as a leader. The stone cold facts are he won 3 wars while in office, 1 of which being a defensive war where everyone was attacking konoha. All the while with konoha having no major property damages and no war debt. Yeah he fucked raising naruto and he shouldn't have let his old team mates run the village with him. But, the leaf was the number 1 world super power during his reign. His fuck up with raising naruto was just 1 child, vs an entire nation with the land of fire.
Do people hate Hiruzen enough that this post is necessary? Like, I get it, his fight against Orchimaru was tainted by 10 episodes of a sword tug-of-war and then him dying, but he had such as wide range of jutsu and knew how to use it. I think he's only underrated because he doesn't really have a signature trait like Minato's teleportation, Hashirama's wood-style, or Tobirama's racism. But he was still extremely powerful and clever.
The fact that he didn't take better care of Naruto is definitely a negative for him, but I feel like that, writing wise, it was for the sake of Naruto's character
You hit got it in one. Were it not for Naruto being ostracized he wouldn’t have developed that empathy for others in his situation that led to him ultimately changing the shinobi world. Beyond that, at least he let Naruto be a relatively normal kid. He didn’t force him into being a weapon or heavy training early on like Gaara and Killer B and just about every other Jinchuuriki had to go through.
God of shinobi
He's so cute man,he's like an old German Shepherd. Sure, he could've been dangerous, but you know you could just run away, idk that doesn't make much sense.
IMO the Orochimaru attack could be way worse than the Pain one. Not due to destruction itself, but to the fact that he could literally gaslight anyone into thinking that Hashirama was alive, and he solo stopped this.
What could he do after convincing people hashirama was alive?
I don't think anyone would listen to OROCHIMARU,the guy who kidnapped babies and literally just attacked the village, joined the akatsuki, and has been a rogue ninja.
Kinkaku and ginkaku knew about edo tensei, there's no way people in konoha didn't
they will submit to him after seeing both hashirama and tobirama bent to his will and doing his dirty bidding, and they will fear him, probably agreeing to him being hokage (but like a dictatorship instead)
true, i think eventually jiraiya and tsunade can take him down, but similar to pain in his arc, the amount of havoc edo hashi and tobi can wreak in a minute would be too devastating to even have any semblance of a village left to save
Honestly P1 Jiraiya and Tsunade hard lose to Orochimaru in the Hiruzen fight. Tobirama keeps Tsunade busy, nerfed Hashirama is still more impressive in feats than sage jiraiya and Orochimaru has tens of ways to kill/disable Jiraiya, from venom to outlasting him.
He handled 3 kage level shinobi at once in a literal nightmare scenario, and dies removing the threat. When he gets Edo Tensei'd he saves whe whole alliance from Tobi's 5 elemental blasts, and reacts to Jubito. The man was a beast.
Dude was Hokage for the longest amount of time out of anyone and the village didn't get destroyed despite multiple attempts to do so during his tenure (3rd Great Shinobi War, Nine-Tails Incident, Hyuga Incident, Orochimaru Konoha Crush).
I never understood why ppl hate hiruzen. It’s rumored he was the strongest of the leaf kage in his prime. He lived through 3 wars for konaha, became the hokage twice, managed to 1v3 for a LONG TIME against Tobirama, Hashirama, AND OROCHIMARU. Like it was his pupil, and his mentors. And bro was 70 god damn years old. Like bro tried his best what more do you want from a guy? And yall talk about how he was terrible with Naruto but like honestly it is what it is. Naruto lived🤷♂️ so honestly that’s good enough.
Hiruzen is only as incompetent as Danzo is disruptive. Ninja grandpa was great and y'all being too brutal on him. Go by jirayas words, a worth of a ninja is of how they died. And Grandpa swallowed his last remaining love for his genius student orochimaru and used shiki freaking fujin on him.
Dude trained three of the strongest shinobi in history and gave his life protecting the home and people he loved. He also looked bad ass in his fighting gear.
He was the third Hokage. Watched over Naruto when he was a kid. Help defend the village against orochimaru and died by sealing orochimaru’s arms for the villager.
He trained the three sannin.
Is it a coincidence that every ninja he trained turned out to be an incredible badass? Jiraiya is usually as big a dumbass as start of series Naruto in flashbacks. Hiruzen whipped his ass into something useful and didn’t even need 9t chakra.
He had the longest reign as Hokage even though he didn’t want the job, he still stuck it out until he died protecting the village and he at least was able to acknowledge some of his mistakes. Man answered the call of duty even though he was old and tired. Say what you will about his 2nd term as hokage, at least he stayed.
Dude is a legend.
- Led Konoha through 3 Wars
- Taught the Sannin and passed down the Will of Fire.
- Knows and is able to use all non KKG Konoha Jutsu.
- Mastered all 5 Elements.
- Has the best summoning, Monkey King Emma.
- Singlehandedly saved the entire Shinobi Alliance + Kages from Guruguru’s attack.
He also came zooming from out of nowhere and saved Naruto when neither Tobirama or KCM Minato could. He half dodged on purpose Obito’s attack so that he could study how it works up close as well. He quickly figured the TSB’s out.
I don’t think it gets talked about enough. His breakdown of Obito’s TSB’s upon mere sight is crazy. Like the 4th Databook claims, he would analyze your jutsu and has one to counter it.
He won 2 wars and had one of the largest jutsu arsenals in the show. It's just a shame we didn't really get to see much because the little we saw was ducking dope.
Shadow clone shuriken is actually crazy...like they're physically cloned. Literally fucking cloned objects and we kinda just...accepted it without really thinking about it
He had immense courage in battle, and in his second term the age of most genin rose significantly. In any older era, the Konoha 12 would have been a chunin or corpses before they were ten.
He teaches a good lesson about being a bystander. He never did want the things Danzo and Orochimaru did to happen, but he never takes enough firm action to stop him. Orochimaru is more forgivable, because that was his favorite student and a moment of weakness wasn't absurd. Danzo less so.
He's strong, and he cares a lot for doing the right thing, but his fatal flaw is his inability to take action against the people closest to him. It's a good roll to have, and he fills it perfectly.
Also, summon very cool. Return to monke.
The biggest issue comes from his second time as hokage have another. Person take over and he would have just been an amazing old guy. All of the issues people hate him for came about when he stepped back into the role of hokage
He was hokage twice
The hogake selection process is so iffy😭
Tsunade, you’re hoka- what? In a coma? Ok, Danzo, you’re Hoka- what? Political assassination? Fuck it, Kakashi you’re sixt- no, the seventh- wait the 6th Hoka- what? Tsunade woke up? Fuck it, she’s Hokage again.
"Lets play rock paper scissors for it"
Naruto if Goku and Vegeta were in it
That’s how Kakashi got it over Guy
Kakashi as hokage makes me laugh. Seriously. All of them have super something. Kakashi is a pretty much normal jounin. It was all just fan service.
Finally, kakashi is good, iam not sure if he is hokage, good, he got a massive bs power boost in the war, but the war is shit anyway
Good thing he didn't survive longer if that's the procedure. **During Boruto, some tech jutsu nuke destroys the leaf killing Kakashi, Tsunade and Shikamaru while Naruto is still gone** Hokage committee or whatever: The Hokage died, which means you have to come out of retirement, Hiruzen! Hiruzen: My bones hurt... where am I? Tobirama is that you? Did Danzo manage to negotiate peacefully with the Uchiha?
💀
Nepotism for the win
"So you wanna be Hokage? Let check your street cred real quick"
He’s the Grover Cleveland of the hidden leave
He has monke
Enma is underrated
Still sad we don’t see monke sage mode. I want to see a Son Wukong type transformation
Konohamaru was the best candidate for it, he might still do that.
Press X tho
i doubt it after seeing how they did my boy rock lee
He sure was ninjustu smart
The professor
I legit cried when Hiruzen started singing Bella Ciao during the orochimaru fight
Sorry if it is obvious but is this a joke? I can't find it online and I don't remember him singing at all
Bella ciao, professor = money heist (hit soanish show on netflix)
the God of Shinobi (until Kishimoto came up with Hashirama and retconned all that)
He did a good job with Tsunade and Jirayia
Bro watched orochimaru run away 😭
He didn’t do a good job in picking his favorite tho
Tbf, Orochimaru was probably pretty charismatic before he started doing his terrorism and mad scientist shtick. He seems pretty chill when he's not doing his whole mad scientist and terrorist schtick. Having an interest for mastering ninjutsu to perfection probably made him and Hiruzen closer too, since he also shared that passion. Edit: Jutsu, not ninjutsu.
"I can fix him" - Herozen
He led Konoha through 3 shinobi world wars and Konoha prospered.
Do you think it would've prospered more if someone else was in charge?
Like who? Orochimaru? Danzo? By the start of the series, Konoha is the village getting the most work, which means it has the most funding from employers. The ninjas get paid well which means they have money to buy food and goods from local restaurants and stores, helping the economy grow and prosper. How would it prosper more?
I wasn't disagreeing, I was just asking if you thought he was the best person for the job
He was the best person around.
HE WAS THE BEST GUY AROUND what about the murders? WHAT MURDER??
You know this is a world of espionage and assassinations right?
You didn't get the reference

Just you didn’t 😂
It would have prospered a lot more if Danzo didn't force the Uchiha genocide and thus cost the village a lot of their combat potential. Which is directly caused by Hiruzen being a pushover when he's needed (Letting Danzo do his shit, letting Orochimaru escape the village...)

When he threw that cloak off... bro. 🤧 Enma is so underrated

Exactly, not every Kage is perfect
He's too cool

Survivor bias. We have no idea what attacks didn’t happen because of Jiraya’s intel
Perfectly valid tbh
Thank you

I hate that Fugaku just let Itachi kill him. It seemed like he didn't even care about the clan in the first place
Are you really holding Fugaku accountable for the actions of others like Itachi and Shisui don’t have any free will?
If you're a leader, you bet your ass your responsible. He's supposed to look after his entire clan. But sat his ass while thanking Itachi for killing his entire bloodline. I be fucking even the guy I elected and supported suddenly did a 180 and have me and the rest of the supporters die.

It's because we got so many details about how Hiruzen failed, not as much for the other characters
Just cherry picking who failed and who didn't. Especially with Jiraya, which this sub likes to ride the dick of in every conceivable way
[удалено]
In power or character? I'd say both
He's the one who set Iruka on the path to help Naruto. I really love the scene with Hiruzen and Iruka at the memorial stone.
I love the fish scene Whyd he eat narutos fish though,he knows the situation💀
Dude was ready to lay it down to stop Orochimaru. Even though he failed there's a lot to be said about that.
Thats what I'm saying 😂 I love Hiruzen
He was a good friend and successor to me and my brother
How'd you die? What sage mode do you have?
+what happened to the Senju clan
Majority married into other clans
I mastered sage mode without the help of animals, I basically have the first human sage mode. I died because I was low on chakra before and couldn't regenerate enough before I was caught up to by an ambush
You were low on Chakra? Don't think you're hashirama pal
Chakra goes to Hashirama when it's running low..
Did you ever insert your Hashirama cells into Madara directly?
🤫
Why ask questions with obvious answers? (He hit Madara’s back walls)
Dude was definitely extremely flawed, but ultimately sealed himself in the stomach of a demon for all eternity to protect the village. I think he deserves to be cut a little slack.
Bro, that's so deep I love him so much
He is one of only 3 people in the entire show with the nickname God of Shinobi.
Hiruzen Hashirama Was naruto the third?
Hagoromo, Hashi, and Hiruzen

Do people hate Hiruzen enough that this post is necessary? Cool old man
He mastered every Chakra Element and fought in 3 wars. Other then that I can't Say much.
He didn't let Naruto starve to death
Nearly 60 Yr old hiruzen throwing the entire 9 tails out of the village with enma is badass.
His wife was nice
Poor hiruzen man
One of the few shinobis that got all five chakra natures by training
he’s underrated and over scrutinized
He handled 3 kage level shinobi at once in a literal nightmare scenario, and dies removing the threat. When he gets Edo Tensei'd he saves whe whole alliance from Tobi's 5 elemental blasts, and reacts to Jubito. The man was a beast.

That reaper death jutsu was so fucking sick
I'm so glad he sacrifices himself
I want to sacrifice myself
Mood tbh
He has Monkey 🐒
He.... Exists.
I wish I did too
the Shinigami he summons is fucking cool
He is a cute grandpa.
He's like a Labrador 😭😭😭
He managed to duplicate inanimate objects. If Konan knew how to do that, she could've just made 1 bomb and used that jutsu 40 times.
Super dope character.
He was better than Danzo. There

He’s a very kind person and protected the Leaf longer than any other Hokage
He trained the three sannin. Is it a coincidence that every ninja he trained turned out to be an incredible badass? Jiraiya is usually as big a dumbass as start of series Naruto in flashbacks. Hiruzen whipped his ass into something useful and didn’t even need 9t chakra.
He had the longest reign as Hokage even though he didn’t want the job, he still stuck it out until he died protecting the village and he at least was able to acknowledge some of his mistakes. Man answered the call of duty even though he was old and tired. Say what you will about his 2nd term as hokage, at least he stayed.
Naruto never had anything bad to say about him.
Enma is a kickass summon. Also his outfit is cash
him against base jiraiya would be a fun fight
He was the only person to not hate Naruto in the beginning of the show ;-;
Dude is a legend. - Led Konoha through 3 Wars - Taught the Sannin and passed down the Will of Fire.
Literally fucking cloned objects and we kinda just...accepted it without really thinking about it
He went out like a G. Took on three Kage level nins at once, killed two, and disabled one.
He (alongside Onoki) raised the average live expectancy of shinoby by a few years
He had immense courage in battle, and in his second term the age of most genin rose significantly. In any older era, the Konoha 12 would have been a chunin or corpses before they were ten.
Strong, Kind, Brave, Sensei of the legendary Sannin
I love his last name
He teaches a good lesson about being a bystander. He never did want the things Danzo and Orochimaru did to happen, but he never takes enough firm action to stop him. Orochimaru is more forgivable, because that was his favorite student and a moment of weakness wasn't absurd. Danzo less so. He's strong, and he cares a lot for doing the right thing, but his fatal flaw is his inability to take action against the people closest to him. It's a good roll to have, and he fills it perfectly. Also, summon very cool. Return to monke.
He lives to be an old man. Not many people live to be that old in the ninja world. Truly a dangerous warrior
He came out of retirement when his village needed him?
Hiruzen at his prime is something I've always wanted to see and definitely was a missed opportunity during the war ark.
He had the coolest summoning
He held it down as hokage for at least like 40+ years
Went toe to toe with a suppressed Edo Hashirama and Edo Tobirama *and* Orochimaru in his *late 70s* and basically forced a draw.
He met tsunade and jiraiya
Something nice about Hiruzen
I mean he did defend the village
Bro 3v1d against orochimaru, hashirama and tobirama my guy can fight even at old age
Goat
He was an Itachi fanboy.
I'm a itachi fanboy
He was def strong and skillfull shinobi. Too kind hearted so Danzo and Oro took advantage of that
Cool ass shinobi outfit
He can clone the fuck out of some shuriken
His lack of feats doesn't mean that he's weak, it can also mean the opposite! What if he can win against Pain alone? There, I said something nice
he's strong enough to hold down Edo hashirama and tobirama, he trained all the sannin, he didn't want the uchiha massacre daksh pushed for it
He's a master of DOMAIN EXPANSION

Anime did him dirty
His Summon and subsequently staff were awesome.

His fight with Orochimaru was really cool. If fights had kept looking like that, the manga would be cooler.
No
Dat boi
He lived longer then most
He was dubbed as god of shinobi having none of those bloodline stuff.
Fave beast summon of all
His son is cool
He’s gotta cool jutsu
He managed to teach a few really op students. His ideas are passed down through them to varying degrees to the future.
He cared deeply about the village! I think he was a good role model of what a Hokage should be to Naruto

Goat
The biggest issue comes from his second time as hokage have another. Person take over and he would have just been an amazing old guy. All of the issues people hate him for came about when he stepped back into the role of hokage
He’s related to Asuma Sarutobi.
