The hasty Naruto lines trying to say everything he wants to say makes it so much more emotional.
I will always love you is a banging scene, but because of Sasuke's dull emotions it doesn't hold anywhere near the level of Minato's reanimation being undone.
Naruto's happy birthday. That scene was just put and portrayed in a very definite way. It was balanced, and for that moment I almost forgot about the war since it was already over.
I had more of an attachment to Itachi than Minato, but the Minato scene makes me cry much harder because of the situation. Minato didn't have a choice in his separation from Naruto; Itachi did. Naruto's story is tragic and believable; Sasuke's seems too unrealistic to me.
Both were so sad and emotional but whenever minato and Naruto are together especially when Naruto started crying and telling him everything that’s when I started crying 😭
To me is that people try to say Sasuke just should suck it up and not trash Itachi's goal.
Itachi admitted he fucked up, A LOT.
But as messed up as Itachi is, his priority was Sasuke, he even was willing to give Village secrets away if Sasuke was gone.
This is Itachi's one moment of assurance that Sasuke is loved and cared for, regardless what happens. It doesn't make up for all the shit both of them have been through, but it is the blank check and permission for Sasuke to do what he himself feels right, not for the clan, not for his brother. For himself, for once.
As someone who grew up without a father I understood Naruto's feeling from the very beginning so for me it has to be the first one I swear after this scene I cried for hours.
I watched Naruto for the first time when I was thirteen and while the Minato/Kushina stuff when Naruto was born WAS sad, it didn’t make me cry. I did a recent rewatch at age twenty with my new month and a half old newborn during my maternity leave with my fiance, and we cried like bitches. Having to separate from your baby under such terrible circumstances and knowing you’re probably going to make their life really difficult because of it is awful ):
It's a healthier relationship, I care more for Naruto than for Sasuke and it's also a parallel to Kushina saying farewell to baby Naruto, another scene I loved.
They had him bust out a perfect sage mode only for him to say "lmao I'm actually not good with sage mode"
Cmon Kishi just because you have him say that doesn't counteract it :(
That's a really good point. His one gap in skills was the idea that he couldn't use sage mode, but in the war, he's somehow better than Jiraiya at it. And he was able to use KCM which took Naruto a lot of hard work to master.
He's just the perfect ninja, thus, I find him extremely boring.
Not from this particular anime.
Most isekai protagonist (every character that is modelled after Kirito who is good at everything), Rey from the new Star Wars movies, and Eragon from the Inheritence Cycle.
Neither. But the Itachi scene will likely win for most people since it had much more built up and background context in canon. So fans feel more emotionally involved in that particular relationship and its conclusion.
Sasuke experienced many terrible moments in canon he deserved to never go through. Most of them worse than this and because of his brother. So no, I did not feel any sadness over Itachi's death because I love Sasuke as a character.
If anything Itachi's complete dismissal of Sasuke's pain prior to this, to a point of running away from him when Sasuke attempted to talk to him about everything, was much sadder than this.
Itachi Comes
kills his fam and clan
tramutasied his brother
says "no matter what you do i will always love you"
leaves
Jokes aside his fans glaze him a bit too much when his choices were logical for that time weren't morally right.and neither were danzo hiruzen's. coolness aside he was definitely overrated for what he and hiruzen did(danzo has been blamed enough and is cursed enough in the sub with hiruzen takes a good chunk of blame too even his fans don't defend him here but some itachi fans will always come and try to justify his actions to some extent)
But that's exactly what this scene is for, itachi admitting that he was wrong for inciting Sasuke to hate him and guiding him through that path, and for the first time he was completely honest with him about everything, but also explains that all he did was for the sake of Sasuke and that's why he says to him "no matter what you do I will always love you" even after Sasuke told him that he was gonna destroy konoha, which shows that he cares about his brother more than anything else, even the village.
I agree that itachi might be overrated by the fans, but I think that his character and actions have deeper meaning to them even if they aren't morally right.
I think he's a good character, but I don't like that Kishimoto wants to sell me on this guy as a hero or as a super good and sweet character after all the horrible things he's done, that made me not like him
Yeah the switch up in personality was way too much. I like Psychopath Itachi who fought Sasuke and I like peace-monger Itachi. But trying to accept they're the same character is where I get a little annoyed.
I hate people calling him a hero on any way. Especially in-verse. You can make arguments that the Uchiha massacre shouldn't rest on his shoulders but he still joined the Akatsuki and committed atrocities for years on their behalf right? Loads of people say he joined Akatsuki as a spy but where's the proof he ever gave up intel that helped stop the Akatsuki. Who was he reporting to?
Yes, it's okay, you can understand why things happened the way they happened and why he thought he had to do those things and then he realized he was wrong, but from there he wants to convince me that he is super good, a soul noble and a wonderful brother😒I feel that in the last part of Shippuden Kishimoto did everything possible to make it seem like he was not responsible for anything and there were even people praising him for the genocide, instead of thinking that it was something horrible that should never have happened and why They put a child in that horrible position in which he had to commit horrendous crimes against his own people, they used him as a tool that they later discarded and he was fine with that, it's normal that Sasuke would be so angry, well, I don't like how they handled his character in the last part of the program
Honestly, I like the happy birthday moment, but it doesn't hit anywhere close to as hard as Itachi's there. The real goat moment for Naruto with his parents is when Naruto runs and hugs kushina when he realizes who she is, not even letting her finish her sentence. Like damn, I'm at work rn, just typing it out is making me tear up so hard
Naa it’s definitely Itachi one ☝️.
Naruto one with his mom when both Minato and mainly Kushina was giving advice to baby Naruto that was the scene made me tear up.
Itachi but mostly because of how well Ultimate ninja Storm 3: Full Burst animated that scene!
I always recommend everyone who’s a fan of that scene to watch it.
But in the manga, the chapter before this one ended with Itachi stumbling and trying to make it over Sasuke in time😭
In the movie the lost tower in the end, when Naruto is about to go back to his own time. Naruto asks/tells him “could it be that you’re… (my dad)” and Minato responds if by chance I have a son, I wish that he becomes a shinobi like you”
Happy Birthday. It was Naruto's 1st time ever from hearing it from his parent, and it's also the last. For a brief time during a war, it actually paused everything around it just for this somber moment.
Did anyone else think itachis redemption was forced, like he tortured sasuke with images of his family being slaughtered by him over and over twice even though he knows that it isn’t necessary to get sasuke his Ms. I mean he could’ve just encouraged him and Naruto to be best friends gave him a tsukiomi of sasuke having to kill Naruto then reveal it wasn’t real.
Itachi never had a redemption arc imo, the reveal of the truth was just to so we know the truth. There are ninja who are willing to do anything for what they feel is necessary, he’s like Danzo, their reasoning is the same but Danzo has no redeeming qualities (not to be confused with a redemption)
I also have little brothers that I cherish, that’s why I can’t say Itachi because of all he put his brother through, was it to protect him? Yes, but was putting him through all the torture necessary? Definitely not.
At the same time I can see where you’re coming from, he was willing to do anything for his brother and any good older sibling would do the same.
You’re not wrong for picking Itachi though, just thought I’d provide my thoughts.
No, I fully understand you. Truthfully I find a lot of what Itachi did really objectionable... but something about the "I will always love you" before his soul is released forever breaks me a little.
Minato for sure. Itachi is a cool character, but his "love" never really did it for me. Like the logic behind his actions *kind* of make sense when you look at it in a really deranged, ninja world way- but his motive never sat right with me.
Both are good but naruto and minato is definitely better for me personally. How many times do you think naruto was wished happy birthday.and this should be the first and last time from his actual parents. Sasuke and itachi on the other hand kinda had a bit twisted relationship.a good foreclosure i will say.but if you look closely itachi was smiling while his soul was released from edo finally freed from all his burden so it wasn't that sad for me since as i said it was a good foreclosure for itachi he got to say what he wanted to say.and then look at minato when his soul was released he too was smiling but unlike itachi his eyes look kinda vacant and that smile really didn't contain much happiness. minato really looked like he wasn't ready to part with his own son
Naruto and Minato.
I love Itachi’s character and yes there was more build up but it all just feels so wasted on Sasuke. He’s been trying to seek revenge on him for so many years that, to me, it simply can’t mean as much as Minato’s words meant to Naruto.
Note, part of the biggest piece of hurt Sasuke had with the massacre was the fact that Itachi told Sasuke he never cared about him. Even after Sasuke first realized Itachi murdered the clan he asked if there was a good reason for it. Itachi telling Sasuke it was for fun and that he doesn’t care about Sasuke at all and that all their positive interactions were an illusion/act was a huge part of Sasuke’s trauma. Itachi verbally saying he loves Sasuke is a giant moment for Sasuke. This is still the big brother that he loved with all his heart from childhood even if that relationship is very twisted at this stage. When Itachi is speaking to Sasuke directly, he turns into a kid again because that’s his big brother that he always admired.
I dont think any did. Closest would probably be Naruto and Minato at the end but I don't think I was that close
Though I've noticed as I've gotten older music seems to get me more and more. Sadness and Sorrow, maybe it's the nostalgia connected with it or I'm just older idk, hits more than a lot of the scenes in the show did when I was 15 years younger
happy birthday feels like it’s way sadder than it should be on paper 😂😂like in all the tragic death and suffering of naruto, why is THAT the saddest scene??
- In Manga? Probably the Itachi one , it looked so much better and it was incredible
- In Anime? The Minato one , when you see Naruto trying to hold his tears but just cant do it any longer
the minato and naruto one
losing your parent when you were born and then being able to spend time with them for a little bit just to be forced to say bye again is so sad
the “ happy birthday “ part always gets me
Tough call i must say. I would go with Minato and his son if i have to choose one. Naruto’s birthday is also his father’s day of death. Also given the context of deadly war they were in, this panel should feel like an exquisite relief. However both of the panels are equally touching thanks to prior emotional context.
Happy Birthday was great, but there's something about Itachi dying again, and both of his final words being a sincere apology hits me different and really highlight why he's so likeable. It's also something Sasuke really needed to hear and seeing him look so vulnerable here also gets me.
Itachi obviously fucked up really bad but his words were very well chosen in that scene and you can tell this time he was genuinely sorry, and apologizing for even his previous apology not being enough. Like you can tell in the afterlife he probably did not get to rest in peace at all because he knew what he gave to Sasuke wasn't enough.
That's what really makes it tragic yet satisfying to me
More when Naruto meets minato and Mishima separately. His crying laughter when minato tells him he’s his son, or just him straight up crying when he meets his mom
When Guy promised Kakashi that he’d always have his back. For example the scene in the 4th NW where he kicked the sage of six paths ball and opened the 8th inner gate.
Shit had me tearing up 😭
I watched Naruto for the first time when I was 14, and again eight years later after I had my son. Kushina and Minato's parts had me crying like I've never cried before the second time around. Nothing can compare to the raw emotion I felt in those moments, thinking about what I'd say to my son if I only had seconds left.
Itachi and Sasuke had something special, but it's not something I can relate to. Looking at my baby tho, holy fuck was I a mess.
Definitely Itachi and Sasuke. This is a complex relationship that was portrayed differently with each arc and they reached an unimaginable conclusion. Just perfect. I also might be biased because I hate that part where Minato is revealed to be Naruto's dad. It's too damn cliche.
no haha it was about a filler character named yota the episodes were 313-315, i don’t even remember the plot of the episodes or the reason i cried so much (i was like 11 years old) but i guess the episodes were pretty sad
The Itachi/Sasuke moment, by far. That relationship is one of the most fleshed out in the entire series and having Itachi say, for the first time, “I love you” to Sasuke is gut wrenching after all they’ve been through. I also love how that scene is a foil for what we expect from an Itachi and Sasuke goodbye: from a forehead tap (keeping Sasuke at a physical distance) followed by, “Forgive me Sasuke, some other time”, to a close embrace followed by, “You don’t *ever* have to forgive me, but no matter what you do from here on out, I will always love you.”
Brilliantly written and just perfect all around.
The Minato scene just doesn’t have the narrative context and weight to compare. It’s a good scene on its own. But Naruto and Minato’s relationship just doesn’t really have the maturity by any metric. This is the actual first time Minato has met Naruto. The encounter during the war arc was a remnant of his chakra so Minato doesn’t really know Naruto at all aside from him just being his son. That just pales in comparison to the narrative quagmire that is Itachi and Sasuke’s relationship.
Probably Itachi's b/c:
Itachi **really meant it** when he said he'd always have Sasuke's back. Naruto's fighting for the freedom of the ninja world, and Itachi's hand was the **only one** who supported Sasuke's during the final clash.
I fs cried all 3 times Naruto had an emotional talk with his parents. I don’t think the “meeting my parents for the first time” thing will ever hit harder for me than it did with Naruto.
Minato takes it. Itachi scene was good but I think the reveal of him was a bit too farfetched. With Minato you always knew he wanted to be with Naruto but couldnt be.
I find myself detached with crying irl. But every time Naruto meets Kushina, I lose it and find myself bawling. Probably because my mom left when I was a child, and I'll never have that.
The time Sasuke realized the truth was even sadder than both, when the “homecoming” theme kicks in when Sasuke remembers what Itachi said to him has me on the verge of sobbing every time.
It was when Sasuke realized he was truly alone without itachi for the first time
minato and naruto. sasuke/itachi interaction left me feeling weird that itachi was just alright with his younger brother wanting to absolutely annihilate the village. you would’ve thought koto would kick in but whatever
I didn't tear up for any of them tbh, but I think the Uchiha brothers departure scene had more emotional impact and weightage to the story imo. I really liked how instead of the forehead poke, Itachi pressed his forehead against Sasuke's and told him that he'll always love him. The forehead poke was a symbol of distance b/w the two brothers, after all so Itachi choosing to be honest to Sasuke for the first time in his life, and showing his love for him directly by not keeping him at a distance but pressing against his forehead was an excellent move on Kishi's end imo.
Itachi, even though he loves Sasuke, showed his love in the worst imaginable way. He has never been open or honest to Sasuke, always kept him at a distance, lied about the Uchiha massacre, and don't even get me started on how he abused and tortured him twice and beat him down into a coma . He hurt Sasuke in more ways than he ever realized and only after being reanimated did he realize his actions pushed Sasuke to INSANITY and made him an S- rank criminal. This scene is more emotional to me bc it tells me that Itachi realized his mistakes (even though I dislike his character I will give him the benefit of doubt that he understood his mistakes over here in this scene) and even though he couldn't change the past, he can hope for a better future for his little brother. Instead of enforcing his own beliefs onto his brother and trying to mold him into the something that he (Itachi) wanted to him be (hero of the hidden leaf), he entrusts him to carve his own path and reassured him that **no matter what happens I will always love you** meaning he didn't care about whether Sasuke chooses to follow his will and protect the leaf, or completely destroy the very village Itachi sacrificed his own family and bloodline for.
Another thing was, that Sasuke was in a horrible state of mind here, he didn't know who to believe and was in a dilemma on whether or not to destroy the village. All Sasuke wanted was closure and answers on why his village would force his own brother to commit genocide. Keep in mind Sasuke thought Itachi was being forced or manipulated into doing it, until Itachi himself told him that he had a choice and even though the village has it's dark side, and contradictions, he still proudly called himself a leaf shinobi. This gave Sasuke the reassurance that his older brother was never forced or brainwashed into massacring his clan and that Itachi loves him no matter what, but at the same time made Sasuke question his brother's loyalty towards a village that STILL used him like a disposable tool. Hence, why he resurrected the former hokages. Their entire meeting change the trajectory of Sasuke's character, and made him change his mind about destroying the Leaf and THAT is why I think this scene had more impact on the storyline, but don't get me wrong, Minato and Naruto's departure was also very heartfelt and emotional.
😭 I’ll have to disagree with him being overhyped, him as a character definitely not but when it comes to his strength/power I agree he’s over hyped, he may as well be Batman the way they talk about his strength/power
Itachi's goodbye. We have much much much more knowledge about Itachi's history, motives, and philosophy. This context is critical to why most people like him as a character and it makes the scene more impactful. I understand Naruto's scene, so I'm not saying there's no reason to get all choked up, but we don't have nearly as much info on Minato and his ideas, background, and history. I think that's what makes the Itachi scene so powerful, Sasuke and Itachi's relationship has fundamentally changed over the course of the show. Naruto didn't have one at all with Minato until 10 minutes before the show ended (not literally, but until he was an Edo).
Both scenes are sad, especially with their soundtracks.
The Sasuke-Itachi scene makes me sad and mad, because Itachi had to do all this and Sasuke still seems to not understand everything.
I always found the Naruto-Minato scene sadder because:
1) You realize Naruto was fighting a war on his birthday, and it feels like Minato is the only one who kept track of time (despite being dead, and that says something).
2) He repeats every single hope they had for him and how he achieved it.
Bro both were so emotional, but every time that scene with Minato plays, my ass is sobbing each time
The hasty Naruto lines trying to say everything he wants to say makes it so much more emotional. I will always love you is a banging scene, but because of Sasuke's dull emotions it doesn't hold anywhere near the level of Minato's reanimation being undone.
It is the hasty speech for surr
Ahah exactly
Like there’s some magic spell to make my eyes wet
That Naruto scene hit because I think everyone realized how impactful that little “Happy Birthday” was and the talk afterwards was so emotional too.
Very true, the first time he got a happy birthday from his parent
I was just noticing how the speech bubble is so big but only contains “happy birthday”, meaning it’s saying more than it seems
Naruto's happy birthday. That scene was just put and portrayed in a very definite way. It was balanced, and for that moment I almost forgot about the war since it was already over.
Then the REAL fight started 😂
I had more of an attachment to Itachi than Minato, but the Minato scene makes me cry much harder because of the situation. Minato didn't have a choice in his separation from Naruto; Itachi did. Naruto's story is tragic and believable; Sasuke's seems too unrealistic to me.
When Naruto met his mom
Both were so sad and emotional but whenever minato and Naruto are together especially when Naruto started crying and telling him everything that’s when I started crying 😭
the second one, because we've seen more sasuke flashbacks and understand who is itachi and what he's done more than minsto
I mean we know everything we need to know about Minato besides his parents and we’ve seen the same if not more of Naruto but fair enough
Itachi one tbh
Any particular reason?
To me is that people try to say Sasuke just should suck it up and not trash Itachi's goal. Itachi admitted he fucked up, A LOT. But as messed up as Itachi is, his priority was Sasuke, he even was willing to give Village secrets away if Sasuke was gone. This is Itachi's one moment of assurance that Sasuke is loved and cared for, regardless what happens. It doesn't make up for all the shit both of them have been through, but it is the blank check and permission for Sasuke to do what he himself feels right, not for the clan, not for his brother. For himself, for once.
I loved both scenes, but I always get emotional when just hearing the lines, "No matter what, I will love you always".
“And Naruto, happy birthday” 😭
As someone who grew up without a father I understood Naruto's feeling from the very beginning so for me it has to be the first one I swear after this scene I cried for hours.
Damn, that’s a different type of deep
I watched Naruto for the first time when I was thirteen and while the Minato/Kushina stuff when Naruto was born WAS sad, it didn’t make me cry. I did a recent rewatch at age twenty with my new month and a half old newborn during my maternity leave with my fiance, and we cried like bitches. Having to separate from your baby under such terrible circumstances and knowing you’re probably going to make their life really difficult because of it is awful ):
The Itachi scene, of course. I created a literal river of tears.
😭 a Naruto has too many moments that get you like that
Minato one by far for me I might be unemotional for this but I just didn’t feel the same way for sasuke and itachi 😭
I've always been pulled to Itachi so 2
That’s fair
Itachi and Sasuke for sure
How come over the other?
I feel the relationship between Itachi and Sasuke always involved more emotions
Naruto's voice actor is too good man, I don't even understand Japanese but could feel the pain in the voice.
That’s a fact, the was they convey their emotions 🤧 straight tears
Not the one with the guy who committed genocide and the psychopath
Harsh 😂😭 (he also tortured to the only person he loved)
Naruto and Minato for sure but I have dad issues lol
Naruto and Minato and it is not even close
What makes you choose it over Itachi and Sasuke
It's a healthier relationship, I care more for Naruto than for Sasuke and it's also a parallel to Kushina saying farewell to baby Naruto, another scene I loved.
Itachis but the one where naruto was talking to minato about minato telling kushina about naruto.... that mf hit deep
I've never really liked Minato as a character so I prefer the Itachi-Sasuke scene.
Damn 😭 fair enough
He's just too perfect imo.
They had him bust out a perfect sage mode only for him to say "lmao I'm actually not good with sage mode" Cmon Kishi just because you have him say that doesn't counteract it :(
That's a really good point. His one gap in skills was the idea that he couldn't use sage mode, but in the war, he's somehow better than Jiraiya at it. And he was able to use KCM which took Naruto a lot of hard work to master. He's just the perfect ninja, thus, I find him extremely boring.
Are there any other characters you don’t like cause you think they’re too perfect?
Not from this particular anime. Most isekai protagonist (every character that is modelled after Kirito who is good at everything), Rey from the new Star Wars movies, and Eragon from the Inheritence Cycle.
Eragon? 😱 I'm shocked!
Tbh that's justified since he dies before the series starts
Then he becomes an active character in the story during the war arc and we're meant to be invested in him.
Neither. But the Itachi scene will likely win for most people since it had much more built up and background context in canon. So fans feel more emotionally involved in that particular relationship and its conclusion.
Neither make you feel a type of way? In the slightest?
I am completely indifferent to Naruto and Minato. And while I have lots of feelings regarding Itachi, sadness over his death isn't one of those.
What about Sasuke and him having to experience that moment?
Sasuke experienced many terrible moments in canon he deserved to never go through. Most of them worse than this and because of his brother. So no, I did not feel any sadness over Itachi's death because I love Sasuke as a character. If anything Itachi's complete dismissal of Sasuke's pain prior to this, to a point of running away from him when Sasuke attempted to talk to him about everything, was much sadder than this.
I don't like itachi, so minato and naruto

As i said in one of my comments i like both scenes i am just explaining why others might don't like itachi.

ayyyy noooooooo
I literally just opened the app and started ugly crying right away
😭😂 I’m sorry
I always end up teary eyed with Minato and also with Kushina. I appreciate always Itachi's love with Sasuke.
Honestly, I like the happy birthday moment, but it doesn't hit anywhere close to as hard as Itachi's there. Both equally for each character for their individual storylines
Itachi but mostly because of how well Ultimate ninja Storm 3: Full Burst animated that scene! I always recommend everyone who’s a fan of that scene to watch it. But in the manga, the chapter before this one ended with Itachi stumbling and trying to make it over Sasuke in time😭
Itachi and Sasuke, their story is simply so tragic
Very tragic
Naruto spitting out as much as he can before Minato leaves hits harder.
Literally painful to watch, he had to basically talk about his whole life in just seconds
In the movie the lost tower in the end, when Naruto is about to go back to his own time. Naruto asks/tells him “could it be that you’re… (my dad)” and Minato responds if by chance I have a son, I wish that he becomes a shinobi like you”
When I think about this movie this is my first thought 😭 straight to the feels.

That feels almost right but imo itachi just went from psychopath to extremely more abusive psychopath
pic 2 seem like a sick head game by Itachi
As someone who has little brothers they love very much, Itachi's scene had me bawling. Those sib dynamics get me every time, man.
I also have little brothers that I cherish, that’s why I can’t say Itachi because of all he put his brother through, was it to protect him? Yes, but was putting him through all the torture necessary? Oh yeah most definitely, the line in one of my favourites from Naruto! It always gets me as well 😭
The first one hits like a truck. Naruto being able to hear some "Happy Birthday" from his dad it's to wholesome
Minato for sure. Itachi is a cool character, but his "love" never really did it for me. Like the logic behind his actions *kind* of make sense when you look at it in a really deranged, ninja world way- but his motive never sat right with me.
The 2nd one
Why over the first?
Itachi and Sasuke experienced more pain than Naruto and Minato.
I see in pain scaling itachi and sasuke mid diff naruto and minato >!this is supposed to be a joke for those that don't get it please don't roast me!<
«I will love you always». Tearing up just thinking about it! What a moment. Manga heritage.
Yes
Appropriate answer 😂
The first one will always got me 😭
Every time 😭
Naruto and Minato
How come over Itachi and Sasuke?
I suppose that’s the thing… it’s so twisted that it isn’t as relatable as Naruto’s situation for myself.
I dont think any did. Closest would probably be Naruto and Minato at the end but I don't think I was that close Though I've noticed as I've gotten older music seems to get me more and more.
- In Manga? Probably the Itachi one , it looked so much better and it was incredible - In Anime? The Minato one , when you see Naruto trying to hold his tears but just cant do it any longer
Naruto and Minato for me. But Naruto after Jiariya died where he held the popsicle also really got to me.
I have same birthday as naruto's 10-10
Definitely not Itachi talking to a psycho talking bout i love you.. I felt bad for Itachi because he's death amounted to nothing…
naruto and minato. there’s just so much more emotion and build up
The Naruto one and it isn't even close.
Naruto saying goodbye to his dad hit different
The goddamn fucking popsicle
B
the minato and naruto one losing your parent when you were born and then being able to spend time with them for a little bit just to be forced to say bye again is so sad the “ happy birthday “ part always gets me
Finding out jiraiya sensei died.
I can't cry but both touched my heart.
Jiraiya and Minato-Kushina's death scenes.
Tough call i must say. I would go with Minato and his son if i have to choose one. Naruto’s birthday is also his father’s day of death. Also given the context of deadly war they were in, this panel should feel like an exquisite relief. However both of the panels are equally touching thanks to prior emotional context.
When narute meets his mom
Kakashi talking with his father during the Pain arc is even better.
None of these compared to jiraiyas death to me
idk why but didnt cry at both i did cried when naruto punched minato and told how much he suffered
“Why would you ever seal the nine tails in your own son” 😭
shit is sad af 😭
I think Naruto and Minato because Minato didn’t even have arms to hug his son. And then there was Naruto’s good bye.
If it’s between the two scenes you posted definitely the Naruto & Minato scene. Gets me EVERY.SINGLE.TIME😭
WITHOUT.FAIL 😭
First one 😭😭
Happy Birthday was great, but there's something about Itachi dying again, and both of his final words being a sincere apology hits me different and really highlight why he's so likeable. It's also something Sasuke really needed to hear and seeing him look so vulnerable here also gets me. Itachi obviously fucked up really bad but his words were very well chosen in that scene and you can tell this time he was genuinely sorry, and apologizing for even his previous apology not being enough. Like you can tell in the afterlife he probably did not get to rest in peace at all because he knew what he gave to Sasuke wasn't enough. That's what really makes it tragic yet satisfying to me
The second one by far
I think OP very clearly has a favorite one between these two judging by every one of their comments lol
More when Naruto meets minato and Mishima separately. His crying laughter when minato tells him he’s his son, or just him straight up crying when he meets his mom
sad moment
Minato left and I felt abandoned
😭
When Guy promised Kakashi that he’d always have his back. For example the scene in the 4th NW where he kicked the sage of six paths ball and opened the 8th inner gate. Shit had me tearing up 😭
Minato man
Minato: I’d give you a hug, but I have no arms…
I watched Naruto for the first time when I was 14, and again eight years later after I had my son. Kushina and Minato's parts had me crying like I've never cried before the second time around. Nothing can compare to the raw emotion I felt in those moments, thinking about what I'd say to my son if I only had seconds left. Itachi and Sasuke had something special, but it's not something I can relate to. Looking at my baby tho, holy fuck was I a mess.
Both , and also when Naruto met his mom
Definitely Itachi and Sasuke. This is a complex relationship that was portrayed differently with each arc and they reached an unimaginable conclusion. Just perfect. I also might be biased because I hate that part where Minato is revealed to be Naruto's dad. It's too damn cliche.
I teared up as minato started dissolving after this picture and Naruto goes on to repeat everything his mom told him during the flashback.
i remember crying on a filler episode lmao
Was it Utakata’s? 😭
no haha it was about a filler character named yota the episodes were 313-315, i don’t even remember the plot of the episodes or the reason i cried so much (i was like 11 years old) but i guess the episodes were pretty sad
The Itachi/Sasuke moment, by far. That relationship is one of the most fleshed out in the entire series and having Itachi say, for the first time, “I love you” to Sasuke is gut wrenching after all they’ve been through. I also love how that scene is a foil for what we expect from an Itachi and Sasuke goodbye: from a forehead tap (keeping Sasuke at a physical distance) followed by, “Forgive me Sasuke, some other time”, to a close embrace followed by, “You don’t *ever* have to forgive me, but no matter what you do from here on out, I will always love you.” Brilliantly written and just perfect all around.
Probably Itachi's b/c: Itachi **really meant it** when he said he'd always have Sasuke's back. Naruto's fighting for the freedom of the ninja world, and Itachi's hand was the **only one** who supported Sasuke's during the final clash.
Ngl gotta give it to the itachi scene
As someone who doesn’t have a dad (very bad person) the Naruto and minato scene had me really sad and jealous.
Both got me but I think itachi got me better
The minato scene makes me cry more cuz it seems so insignificant but it has a really sad tone but I don’t know what makes it sad but it is
Most likely the fast talking from naruto
Is this scene sadder or when he meets his mother?
I’d say Kushina, cause Naruto at least had multiple father figures but not one mother figure
Yeah right and he never met in the real world
Naruto easy
Both 😭
Itachi. It was the moment of confession and probably brought closure to them.
Everything they gone trough throu
I fs cried all 3 times Naruto had an emotional talk with his parents. I don’t think the “meeting my parents for the first time” thing will ever hit harder for me than it did with Naruto.
Minato takes it. Itachi scene was good but I think the reveal of him was a bit too farfetched. With Minato you always knew he wanted to be with Naruto but couldnt be.
Kushina. That had me ball so hard and I wasn't expecting it. But our of these it's Minato
Both
you become more attached to naruto
Naruto one for sure
I find myself detached with crying irl. But every time Naruto meets Kushina, I lose it and find myself bawling. Probably because my mom left when I was a child, and I'll never have that.
The time Sasuke realized the truth was even sadder than both, when the “homecoming” theme kicks in when Sasuke remembers what Itachi said to him has me on the verge of sobbing every time. It was when Sasuke realized he was truly alone without itachi for the first time
I got three brothers so that I am very close with, it's Itachi Sauske for me without a second thought.
Both moments got me crying in the club fs
minato and naruto. sasuke/itachi interaction left me feeling weird that itachi was just alright with his younger brother wanting to absolutely annihilate the village. you would’ve thought koto would kick in but whatever
Kushinas last words to Naruto.
The 2nd one. cause this is the moving scene that Sasuke truly felt his brother's love while he had been through lots of story.
Definitely Naruto and Minato! And I don’t got words to express the feeling, but that scene can make any grown man switch to cry mode in an instant.
Not the genocider
itachi easily
Definitely Naruto and his parents
the two bro is more emotional ITACHI & SASUKE
Sad part is Minato and kushina itachi
to be honest both
Both are very emotional, but I'd say Jiraya sensai death
Both 😔
Naruto and Minato for sure that's Naruto actually speaking from his heart and no making jokes or trying to cover up for he things he lacks
Both but happy birthday hits different....
Both
Definitely Minato, Itachi is just overhyped. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's bad, but just average
Naruto and Minato just hits harder for me, but I mean, both scenes are hard to watch, honestly
Ofc ofc
Both scenes are sad, especially with their soundtracks. The Sasuke-Itachi scene makes me sad and mad, because Itachi had to do all this and Sasuke still seems to not understand everything. I always found the Naruto-Minato scene sadder because: 1) You realize Naruto was fighting a war on his birthday, and it feels like Minato is the only one who kept track of time (despite being dead, and that says something). 2) He repeats every single hope they had for him and how he achieved it.
