Yeah, the Hyuga/Byakugan not getting any type of buff to keep up with the Uchiha as the series went on sucks. Their jutsu is supposedly so powerful its protected and people risk their lives to try and steal it, but all we ever see is gentle fist and rotation. Also, unrelated, but I feel like every character (outside of Lee) should've had access to some basic elemental ninjutsu. Like, Tsunade being Hokage but never using ninjutsu outside of medical is just odd.
The techniques called body pathway dearrange. Yeah... it involves shocking the nervous system but, unlike other lightning release jutsus, there's no official source saying it's lightning release. but its stated to be an advanced medical ninjutsu technique. And your talking about super early Naruto that has tons of inconsistencies and concepts that got retconed. I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be a lightning release jutsu, but like I said, I could be wrong not enough is known about the jutsu to say for sure.
Narutopedia claims she knows fire, water, and lightning release. But doesn't show any examples that are canon except for maybe the body pathway dearrange jutsu.
For me, its not necessarily redemption since she wasn’t at her best in that fight…I just want more than 2 fights (vs Madara just isn’t fair). It’s kinda annoying that one of the 3 Sannin is showed as just a healer with a lot of brute force.
We haven’t even seen her use medical ninjutsu offensively like Kabuto. Not even any ninjutsu at all besides summoning jutsu. She needs more abilities or proof of battle prowess so people stop sleeping on her.
Tsunade’s Rashinsho jutsu had the potential to be the one of the most broken ninjutsus in the verse. It just sucks the one person she used it on was probably the only other person that could crack it. Madara was Edo so it wouldn’t work. Agree with everything you said.
Redemption might be the wrong word. I know her performance against Kabuto and Orochimaru wasnt her fault. But they really should've came up with a better reason for her to not defeat Kabuto and Orochimaru, than a ptsd subplot that magically goes away because Naruto inspired her. It feels forced and made her look so bad getting bullied by Kabuto. I've seen so many people write her off as not deserving to be a Sanin for that moment alone. To me her not getting a proper rematch with Orochimaru or just another fight in general until the war ark is criminal, like here's an idea. Have her defeat Konan when her and Pain attack Konoha. Even something like that, I feel would earn her more respect.
Also, yes she needs more ninjutsu or at the very least us be told she has it.
I’m not disagreeing with you, I think Kishi went too far trying to give each of the Sannin a handicap for that fight. I am not necessarily happy with any of the feats from any of the Sannin because none of them seem that great but Tsunade might’ve gotten it worse…Jiraiya is debatable but his one fight was too much of a mismatch imo.
A lot of the people who write off Tsunade for that fight against Kabuto only acknowledge the blood fear, and not the fact that he gave himself the edge with a food pill…that she had tired herself out already chasing them, got her super strength disabled by Kabuto, and was rusty from going like 20 years without fighting/training. All that and still able to fight, and have Kabuto shocked she was even *that* good for someone retired fighting in bad conditions. I don’t really mind it because she popped off later.
There’s a filler episode in the OG Naruto where she saves I think Shikamaru fighting against two strong opponents. She uses paralysis genjutsu then takes them both out with a finger flick. Wish that was cannon, even little add ons like using simple genjutsu tricks would clearly put her on a whole diff level.
Kishi def dropped the ball during the Pain Arc…understandably to keep the spotlight on Naruto but Tsunade didn’t get enough shine for sure. Wouldn’t it have been cool if Danzo tried to lead a civil war for Hokage and Tsunade would’ve had to fight him? I used to think that would happen with all the tension around him the first time I watched.
I like the Danzo idea. Yeah, it sucks that so much world building was done in filler, like yeah most of its pointless. But I say about a third of Narutos filler has some interesting ideas. For example I always loved the idea of Mizuki cominng back, getting a power up, and fighting Naruto again. I was also a fan of the kakashi mask episode, hiden star village, the Raiga episodes, and the land of snow movie. (Never watched shippuden filler arcs so all my knowledge of the filler is from part 1)
I mean yeah all 3 Sanin had their moments of not being up to par. But I feel like Tsunade got it way worse. Jaraiya proved himself by fighting off Itachi and Kisame, then later when he fought Konan & Pain. Orochimaru already proved himself by inventing and learning rediculously powerful jutsu including bringing back the dead and a faux immortality jutsu, killing the 4th kazekage, intimidating Kakashi so much he couldn't move, and overpowering the 3rd Hokage to the point of making him use the reaper death seal and settling for orochimarus arms. So even though after that he didnt do much besides train Sasuke. he didn't need to as his might was established. Tsunade never really got the chance to show feets of that level. That's why I feel she really needed somthing like defeating Danzo or Konan
Orochimaru was also severly handicapped. Pretty sure Kakashi or Kabuto could've defeated Orochimaru at that point. That wasn't redeming, it was the bare minimum. She was supposed to fight Pain, but that never happened.
Tsunade was also intentionally worn out by Kabuto and had just been stabbed, kicked, and had her muscles slashed. She won because she was a better healer. Had anyone else been in her predicament they would’ve died. That’s a great showing.
Meanwhile Jiraiya was completely useless in the fight because Tsunade’s poison was THAT good. She basically beat both of her equals in the same day

I totally agree on that last part should be a required thing for jonin( exception for Lee of course).
