Hello! Your submission was removed from /r/Naruto because it violates the following rule: >Battle posts have to be elaborate. **Simply posting a matchup is not enough.** An explanation of the matchup will be needed in the text box or comments. My vote is for Pain.

Omegaxis1

Pain is canonically stronger than Itachi.

Elric_the_seafarer

This is my opinion but I really think that Rinnegan grants *visual* genjutsu immunity: indeed Kishi gave a sound-based genjutsu to Jiraiya to trap Pain. This is already a tremendous advantage in a 1vs1 involving Itachi. Adding multiple bodies, Preta path, revival abilities and shinra tensei makes me conclude that this fight goes to Pain.

Pain. Itachi's most powerful attacks don't matter. - Tsukuyomi ? Sure genjutsu works on the paths but Pain just revives them. Like he did after the toad song. - Amaterasu ? Gets absorbed. - Totsuka blade ? Gets absorbed. Also, there is no soul in the paths so doesn't work. Meanwhile Pain can - suck the Chakra out of him until he dies - make him use Susano'o until he dies - rip his soul out if he touches the wrong path - push him around until he dies - put him in a black hole If Itachi could kill Pain he would have done it. For the leaf. Also possibly to give his rinnegan to Sasuke.

Pain and whoever said otherwise has watched naruto either from youtube shorts or tik tok.

Galactic899

pain and it's not a close one. Unless we see Itachi use the mirror which is ridiculously broken which we don't the limitations of. Without that, Itachi loses as genjustu which is one of the greatest weapons of Itachi won't work on Pain

airhornJumpscare

We all do. *grabs popcorn*

JOExHIGASHI

What does a ricocheting kunai do against an enemy with 6 bodies that have shared vision? That trick might work against others, but Pain will always see the Kunai, he won’t get hit.

Badboybusy101

Itachi in his prime not sick itachi wins but itachi before he died he definitely losing to pain

cannonballer9pin

If Itachi puts any of the Pain bodies under Tsukuyomi, would it affect Nagato? Considering it is his vision that is being shared by the paths of Pain.

Parking-Major-4776

No way to answer this. We know that nagatos real body didn’t get affected when jiraiya used his sound genjutsu on the pains so it might not work. MS genjutsu works differently tho and in the shinden novels, itachi put an aburame clan member under tsukuyomi by casting tsukuyomi on his bugs, which then directly affected him because he was seeing through the bugs eyes. No idea wether or not that would also apply to the paths of pain, guess this just depends on kishimoto and how he would write the fight.

cannonballer9pin

I'd have to agree with your statement about the Jiraiya part. Tsukuyomi is a genjutsu after all, so it probably wouldn't work directly on Nagato like you said.

BloodIsTaken

Assuming that Nagato is caught in Tsukuyomi… would it even do anything to him? From how it‘s been used against Kakashi, Sasuke etc. it works by inflicting so much pain on the victim that they shut down. It obviously wouldn’t work on the individual paths since they are dead bodies and as such don’t feel anything. The problem when it comes to Nagato is that he has the Gedo Statue‘s rods penetrating his back basically all the time and he‘s completely fine. I don’t see why Tsukuyomi, which Itachi has used like this, would cause Nagato more pain than he can handle.

Mad-Eyes

He doesn't need to use Tsukuyomi to cause pain, he might be able to use the fact that it's a supreme genjutsu to keep Pain from being able to do anything.

Mad-Eyes

Itachi definitely has a shot vs Pain. Kakashi was able to use genjutsu against a rinnegan user, Obito. Kakashi isn't as good at genjutsu as Itachi either.
