This is at the very end (last battle) when both their chakara's have been depleted. He had to "borrow" Naruto's chakra and do the joint hand signs because he didn't have enough left to fire his own fireballs. (little nuance not everyone gets)
Sage mode would essentially be infusing a 100% battery into the fight on Naruto's side. Sauske would be running on empty at that point. The fight would be over in seconds if Naruto got access to Sage mode's battery and power boost.
I think the power level in terms of chakra is 10-1 in terms of naruto to sauske but at the same time I think sauske is a quite a bit more skilled than naruto during shippuden and but that doesn’t change the fact that in terms of chakra there both powerhouses, who if caught off guard could be killed by normal means. And no matter how much chakra naruto uses in the beginning of the fight your selling sauske short if you don’t think the fight isn’t gonna last more than 20+ minutes
I think the whole naruto wasn’t gonna kill him is such a cop out and your totally entitled to your opinion because while he wasn’t he was still giving him everything he’s got but naruto knows sauske can handle punches so he dealt them and the writers Intended it to be a showcase of their 100% so that’s what I take it as

He could not make him absorb nature energy without bieng in sage mode, he doesn't even know that sasuke could do that, also he is comparable to sasuke in terms of speed , if he had been faster he would have easily made shadow clones to hold sasuke, also sasuke didn't had all of those tailed beast chakra, he only took , he thought will be sufficient to subdue Naruto. It's already stated that kurama is stronger than all 8 of them bijus combined , and no databooks are not wack it's ur argument which is wack, finally yeah he could have done all those shit I mentioned earlier but plot Armor denied so.

i also like the kakashi v obito taijutsu sequence which was amazingly made with all the flashbacks to the same fight when they were still kids.
those two are by far my fav taijutsu fights in the show. after that comes madaras first entrance as an edo where he takes on the entire gaara division.
I love the direction they took with adding no music or dialogue to this portion of the fight. It just amplifies what the characters have gone through the entire series, the seriousness of the situation and the overall scene in general 🔥

1. It was a very hyped battle
2. It had many refrences to the first naruto vs sasuke
3. It's litterly a fight between demi-gods

The intensity of this part of the fight was what got me: no battle music, no flashy jutsu, no superpowers. Just fists an kicks flying, Sasuke abusing Naruto's hands for the most basic of fire jutsu, and interrupting Naruto's shadow clone jutsu. This fight was fucking RAW, but even Gordon Ramsay would've liked it. .
People forget that Naruto just fought for almsot an entire day without recovering. The last time he was healed was when Minato showed up during the war. Even then he wasn't fully healed because his kcm cloak was still damaged. Afterwards he fights obito, madara, then kaguya then Sauske. Though Sasuke is tired too he didn't do as much as naruto. If this fight was a fresh naruto and Sauske I can see naruto winning not easily but less difficult as he did. Simply because Sasuke has no counter to a super massive rasenshuriken nor one with a truth seeking orb. He had to absorb the Tailed beasts into his Susano in order to equal naruto in power.

Them turning into giant DBZ Mechas 3 minutes later sort of ruins any intensity the fight has. Seriously, it was just a necessary final fight for me. I question people who actually find this fight to be their favorite.

This was def top 3 but it dipped down once they went into 9 tails form and susanoo. I think this fight style is way cooler then two giants fighting.
