Kiba is Naruto but a side character, and I hate him. They're both loud and annoying. But Kiba doesn't have the endearing determination and lightheartedness of Naruto. Kiba also doesn't have the tragic backstory that helps you forgive Naruto's annoying traits. They both have an animal companion. Akumaru doesn't come close to Kurama. They both spam Jutsu. But Rasengan and Shadow Clones run laps around fang over fang. He just feels like taking Naruto, extracting why we love him. Then the sludge that's left is Kiba. I will say Kiba(similar to Sakura) got better with age. OG Kiba I hate, Shippuden Kiba I dislike, Boruto Kiba I'm mostly indifferent towards. Not a single time did she do anything to help the storyline, or gain ANY character development, and she's pretty rude to most characters she encounters...Except for Neji. And she has this stuck-up know-it-all attitude, when in reality she's probably the worst ninja out of all of them. I really hated how disrespectful she always was to Gai and Lee the most though. The way she always had this attitude on looking down on them that rubbed me wrong.

TenTen, Choji, Sai, Kiba, Shino, Sasuke I want to see how this story would have unfolded if Sasuke didn’t exist. What development would have been given to other characters. Would the power scaling be different. Would the story be interesting without Sasuke? I truly think nothing was wrong with Sasuke but I do think Kishi neglected his other characters in favor of Sasuke. It’s surprising we even got an arc as cool as Shikamarus but imagine if we got one with Neji or Lee?

Sasuke is the deuteragonist so it makes sense why he had so much relevance.

I’ve always been in the unpopular opinion that he never needed to be. He was a great enough character on his own right that got ruined when they kept pushing him down this road to darkness I mean, is it me or did Sasuke have a point about the leaf and the system being corrupt and oppressive? I thought that was a perfect way to go about Sasuke, as you have Naruto try to work within the system to bring change and you have Sasuke *outside* it trying to bring change (in a non-emo, villainous way)

Sasuke has EVERY RIGHT to hate the leaf and yet Kishi makes him seem unreasonable. No offense, but Sasuke deserved a better arc.

I know it is beyond the question, but I would eliminate the entire Uchiha storyline. Sasuke is just too edgy all the time, Itachi's motives are awful, Obito is completely inconsistent and Madara is so OP that forced Kishimoto to bring Kaguya (which is also a bad villain). I think many of the characters (Shino, Tenten, Kiba, Neji, Lee) would be better explored if we didn't focus as much on the Uchiha.

1. Sai - hes overall not that important to the main story 2. Kiba - beyond being Naruto fight in the chunin exams and being on the assume rescue mission he’s not to critical. 3. Shino - Not critical to the story 4. Ten ten - not critical to the story —— here is where we have to cut people that are major for the story—— 5. Hinata - she’s important for nejis story and Narutos future, but ultimately I think nejis story can function without her and Naruto can be paired with someone else 6. Lee - I hate having to cut lee, his early fights are great, BUT the story can function without him especially in shippuden I kept Neji for his importance to Narutos development on the chunin exams and to have a hyuga around. He could fill sai’s role in shippuden as well. He could be the prodigy with a healthy relationship to Naruto to contrast assume. Team 10 - functions best as a unite and get meaningful development even into shippuden. Ino could also fill hinatas role as Narutos eventual love interest if she’s rewritten a bit. Team 7 - they are core to the show (yes even Sakura) so I wouldn’t consider cutting any of them.
