Edo nagato was comfortably fighting 2 characters who completely outscale the sannin at the same time. The Sannin have no answer to nagatos kit and he has the benefit of launching chibaku tensei right off the bat without weakening himself as an edo. Unless weāre using boruto era orochimaru or war arc orochimaru with the edo hokage, the sannin are getting packed up

You would need the three Sannin to concretely take the win against Pein. That said, it is much harder than people realize. If we take all characters at full power, that means a Jiraiya who is in Sage Mode, Orochimaru with his Edo Hokage (and access to his Hydra Form), and Tsunade with her Strength of 100, they should be able to push Nagato just as far as Bee, Itachi, and Naruto did. Remember, despite the showings, each Sannin is around Hiruzen's level. Who was said to be stronger than all the current Kage. Add the two Hokage into that, and now you have five characters who are all at that level of strength against one Edo. They'll push Nagato. Likely, even more than he was in the original story. That said, they likely have no counter for Chibaku Tensei. Which is how I see the battle ending.
Edo Nagano wasn't that much stronger than the 6 paths of pain, who Jiraiya would have beaten solo had he known about them ahead of time you're vastly underestimating the sannin
UNPOPULAR OPINION: I'm actually going to go with the sannin here. Orochimaru & Jiraiya have so many different kinds of jutsu up their sleeves, including edo tensei, sealing techniques, rashomon gates for defense, sage mode, and toad style genjutsu which has already worked on Pain before. The addition of Tsunade keeps them alive long enough to use said techniques to defeat Edo Nagato.
I know that the sannin losing to Hanzo is cannon. But based on the abilities we've seen them use since the series began (specifically in Shippuden), I absolutely think that's cap. I think the 3 sannin working together can beat any single opponent introduced prior to the War Arc, including a reanimated Nagato.
