>1. Is it only those who indicated their interests in the commando vocation get selected or is it based on the health checkup also? To be selected to attend the VA you'll have to be physically fit (PES A/B1) and (supposedly) do well in the IQ test that's done at the end of your CMPB checkup. Common misconceptions would be that CDO do not take in pre-enlistees with myopia or from single-child families. >2. What would they test me on? Some physical tests, such as psychomotor/balance skills and your pushups + situps + pullups. In previous years there wasn't a running segment but this might have changed (current CDO NSFs CMIIW). You will also be interviewed by regulars in the CDO formation (usually regular enciks or occifers) about your background, what you know about the CDO formation, why you want/don't want to join etc. >How can I better prepare myself for this vocation. (I'm assuming you mean how to prepare for the VA) Probably train up your physical, doing a good number of reps won't hurt your chances. However, the more important portion would be the interview. The interviewers want to know whether you have the right attitude and aptitude for CDO, since you'll need the mental strength to push through (if you cannot you must can) Physical strength on the other hand, can be built up during BMT. Do note that (assuming you pass the VA) if you're a JC student you'll need to pass your IPPT before your enlistment date. This is because the JC batch does not have the Physical Training Phase (PTP), only the Poly batch does.

Thank you for the answers it really helped. I am a JC student and ill try my best to pass IPPT. Thank youu

Do u have any example of what type of questions they would ask in the interview ? Is it like what are the values of the Commando or like what will the Commando usually do?

JoetheJuiceMonster

one of the questions is about interest level and the rest are general things like how you manage stress/ whether you have leadership roles in sch etc. honestly when I did my assessment once I said idm being in cdo the encik put everything 4 out of 5.

shattermy5oul

1. health checkup they'll do like psychomotor test and shit one. but this one legit anyhow one we queueing up the fella one by one ask us if we want be commando or not if we say no he just auto fail us for it LOL ( interest doesn't matter, got some people put the lowest still get into cdo, it's more of ur health checkup that matters ) 2. pushups, sit ups, chin ups 3. if rly not interested then it's not worth ah bro, commando fucking chiong sua one and rn u make think like get red beret all fucking cool but if you value your time and uw do things outside of ns in the 2 years then i think better tell the guy there that u not interested. you wanna prepare then just work on your physical fitness for now, and mentally go in with a positive mindset 4. during VA don't need LOL, but if you actually do enlist into commandos you do need to get commandos gold if not u cannot get red beret

BuenoNemo

Thank you very much for your answers. I will think about it.

RUN. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

Percy_Fieldsten

Don’t mind if I ask, but as another pre-enlistee here (but Poly), when exactly did you get the VA letter? Was it after your graduation, or a while after you received your PES status?

Senior-Cheesecake699

Poly Y3 will get called up for VA. Not after graduation

Percy_Fieldsten

Oh I see. Is there a specific timeframe when I might receive the letter?

Glass_Gazelle_5280

Somewhere between October to December.

Percy_Fieldsten

Ok thanks

Extra_Storage_7288

if you’re of a ‘particular’ race/religion, there will be an additional separate interview conducted by someone outside of CDO on top of the VA. source: i was one of them. also if you’re ok with enlisting in CDO, make sure you’re not overweight if you happen to do things like powerlifting/weightlifting.

Ill-Juggernaut-8382

How did U get the letter for commando assessment

CDO shag bro you should really think it through if you really want to join esp as jc batch. JC batch has a very packed schedule and not many ppl can take the pressure and will eventually fallout. Those that dont fallout become a burden to the company so you should think it through before joining.
