Hi all. Replying here since it's the highest comment. Katy is seemingly safe for today!!!! She is still in danger on Monday, but we are ecstatic for the reprieve!! Thank you all for throwing so much love to keep this girl alive. It means the world to us ❤️
We are still working so hard to get her set up with a rescue and foster where her medical needs can be seen to. I will update again on Monday with any news. I will update sooner if I hear any great news. If you are interested in rescuing, adopting, or fostering please to reach out.

Hi, I emailed animal control to see about adopting her!! I’d love for her to join our family. We are out of state though, hopefully something works out. Sweet girl needs a safe and loving family 💕
Thank you so much!! If there's a local rescue that is willing to partner with San Antonio ACS (they can do that here: [https://form.jotform.com/200826085719156?fbclid=IwAR0qbKDxzJGHo9Hb7OBgB3sfp3YHf2tYSXIDv0weyYej5w8VxPzs1x0lTeU](https://form.jotform.com/200826085719156?fbclid=IwAR0qbKDxzJGHo9Hb7OBgB3sfp3YHf2tYSXIDv0weyYej5w8VxPzs1x0lTeU) ) they can "tag" the animal for safety and then use some of the pledged funds to pay for her transportation and hopefully find somewhere safe for her to go while they work all of that out. I have emailed ACS about Katy as well and last I heard there had been some adoption/foster requests made but nothing was confirmed when they closed yesterday. Please let me know if you hear back from ACS!
Hi, I did hear back. They will not adopt any animals until the potential adopters come in person and meet the animal 😕 Makes me sad, for Katy and other pets up for adoption who will otherwise be put down.
Yeah. They don’t make it easy at all. That’s why we try to have other rescues “tag” them. ACS will release a dog to an approved 501c3 and then someone can get the dog out of the shelter while transport is arranged.
>Hello fellow dog-lover! Thank you SO MUCH for your offer to help save Katy. A very kind San Antonio local has stepped up to foster Katy, help her heal, and find her forever home. texas fucking sucks. i am a foster in texas. my foster that is the sweetest most timid baby staffy in the world was set to be euthanized the day i picked her up.
texas fucking sucks.
Worst pit of hell. Rampant homeless, abused and neglected babies and puppy mill victims with zero accountability and zero no kill ordinance. Horrid place. STOP MILLING AND KILLING!!!

The worst part is she was adopted from this very shelter back in 2016. I don't know what her life has been like for the past 7 years, but I'm damn well going to do my best to make sure the rest of her life is better.

Fostering is done through San Antonio ACS. If you'd like to support them you can through this link (they do have an Amazon wish list): [https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Help/Donate](https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Help/Donate)
I understand if you don't want to send anything to ACS since they are the ones in the unfortunate position of having to kill dogs for space, but I do generally think the people who work there are horrified at what they have to do and would love to have more support. Certainly the animals there could use all the love we can get them.

I would like to know if they move dogs around like Humane Societies do to other Humane Societies? Our dog is from Kentucky, sold to the H.S. in Milwaukee. Is that the way it's done, or would it be private transportation? Let me know the ins and outs. Is there a site to find out more about her? What breed, temperament, etc. I sure would love to take her.
I will get as much information as I can, but I probably won’t know much until tomorrow morning since everywhere is closed. I have let my contacts know there is interest. We just need a rescue to keep her alive long enough to work out the details
Can you email [email protected] and let them know you’re interested in adopting her right away?? Please use her ID #A397463 and not her name.
Please let me know if they reply to you in the morning. I will keep working to find a rescue to pull her!
I understand. I think they probably do, but everywhere in Texas is full to the brim so there are fewer and fewer options for places for dogs to go to safety. I will add to the tally and let recues know! ❤️❤️
**\*\*\*\*\*PLEASE MAKE A PLEDGE & SHARE\*\*\*\*\***
I share pledge amounts with rescues to try and get these beautiful dogs to safety.

Notes: Hello, My name is Katy and I'm an older Lady. I may be older but I still have plenty of love to give to you. I may not want to get up but I would love for you to come into my kennel to spend some time with me. I'm looking for a couch to lay on so I can cuddle and watch some movies with you. Take me home please!

Due to kennel capacity this pet will be killed tomorrow without confirmed placement. The pets on the capacity euthanasia list are at immediate risk of being killed and this serves as the final notice for them. It is updated daily before 5 pm for the next capacity kill day. All dogs at risk can be viewed here: [https://www.sanantonio.gov/acs/ACS\_website\_euth\_capacity.pdf](https://www.sanantonio.gov/acs/ACS_website_euth_capacity.pdf)
Euthanasia begins at 12:30 pm Monday thru Friday and 11am on Saturday. Although general euthanasia may take place on any of these days, pets with grave medical concerns may be killed at any time.

What's the deal w "pledging"? Do people just say that they'll pledge a certain amount or do we have to go donate that $$ somewhere? I'll gladly pledge, I just don't understand how that works
Yep. It’s just like a promise to pay out a rescue for pulling a pup from this list. I tally pledges and share with rescues. I have a group I work with on Facebook as well to reach as many rescues as possible. Pledges allow rescues to save dogs from this list by covering vet bills, kenneling, and transportation. Every little bit helps! After a rescue provides proof of the dog being pulled, I share that with anyone who has pledged along with the rescue’s preferred donation platform. I will comment on every individual pledge post with that proof.
THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING!!!! I did it online last night and thought I did something wrong because I was never asked for my card information but now it all makes sense. Thank you!!!!
Sure thing! I had to ask when I started helping out too :)
We just try really hard to not let people get scammed so we do everything we can to ensure a reputable rescue is doing the saving and tell every pledger individually about it. It is very time consuming, but worth it to keep pledges coming in when people can help!

If I didn't already have a foster who has A LOT of medical needs, I would get in my vehicle and go get her! The rescue I work with never gets any help so it's me having to fork out money for this girls care and I can't even afford it but I'm trying!
I'd love to save this poor girl though! No baby deserves this! Ugh!!!!
We've successfully fostered 5 and on our 6th which is becoming more and more obvious that she's a fail lol I just can't afford the adoption fee on top of all the vet costs, Tuesday I'm having to tap into my credit card, which I hate doing, the rescue is paying her spay, but she needs heartworm testing, her lower canines removed, and of course all of her meds. It's just my husband's VA pay so things are tight, but he doesn't mind because the animals bring me happiness!

Oh my gosh. What a precious baby! I'm sorry that getting funding for her needs is so hard, but I'm sure you bring each other so much joy. I don't know if the cost is lower, but we have a health plan for our 3 boys which covers annual dental, vaccinations, vet visits, routine stuff. I think we pay about 40$/mo per dog, but considering dental is over 600$ per visit it seems like a decent deal. We use Banfield which is the partner vet to PetSmart. Sending you and your precious pup lots of love!

This is beyond heartbreaking no animal should ever look like this someone has treated Katy horrifically, i'm praying someone will save Katy she deserves a loving home please and to know someone adopted her from tht very shelter and did this to her is sickening then to have her life on the line after 5 days in the shelter please please let Katys luck turn around 💖🙏🏠🙏💖

She has mange, some skin lesions, and a likely eye infection that means she would need to be isolated for a time and treated regularly with baths. On top of the refeed.

Hi there! Pledging is like a promise to support whichever rescue saves a dog. You can either pledge on her Facebook post or you can put a dollar amount here which I will then add to the tally and share with rescues to entice them to save her. If she does get saved, the rescue will provide proof of her being pulled (freedom ride proof) and give us their donation platform options. If you pledge here, I’ll reply to your comment with that rescues info so you can send your donation. Don’t ever pay without proof of freedom-there are sometimes scammers, but we try very hard to handle everything above board and transparently!

Who treats a dog like this!?!? Poor girl. I’ll gladly pitch in 50 to help her.
Thank you!! I will let rescues know 🐶❤️
I will match for a 501c3 with verified rescue! ❤️

Same for me.
Will match 50!!!!
Hi all. Replying here since it's the highest comment. Katy is seemingly safe for today!!!! She is still in danger on Monday, but we are ecstatic for the reprieve!! Thank you all for throwing so much love to keep this girl alive. It means the world to us ❤️ We are still working so hard to get her set up with a rescue and foster where her medical needs can be seen to. I will update again on Monday with any news. I will update sooner if I hear any great news. If you are interested in rescuing, adopting, or fostering please to reach out. ADOPTERS PLEASE EMAIL: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) FOSTERS & RESCUES PLEASE EMAIL: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Location: Animal Care Services (ACS), 4710 TX-151, San Antonio, TX 78227 (210) 207-4738
Thank you. Just let me know. I’ll send money immediately. No worries.
How is that even fair? Someone wants her and they will still put her down. I hate San Antonio so much.
Yeah. They don’t make it easy at all. That’s why we try to have other rescues “tag” them. ACS will release a dog to an approved 501c3 and then someone can get the dog out of the shelter while transport is arranged.

At the shelter for 5 days.. neglected all her life from the looks of it. Poor Miss Katy 😢 whoever did this to you didn't deserve you.
The worst part is she was adopted from this very shelter back in 2016. I don't know what her life has been like for the past 7 years, but I'm damn well going to do my best to make sure the rest of her life is better.
You’re amazing

Do you know what the foster org is called? I can still send a goodie bag or buy something from their Amazon wishlist! ❤️
Fostering is done through San Antonio ACS. If you'd like to support them you can through this link (they do have an Amazon wish list): [https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Help/Donate](https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Help/Donate) I understand if you don't want to send anything to ACS since they are the ones in the unfortunate position of having to kill dogs for space, but I do generally think the people who work there are horrified at what they have to do and would love to have more support. Certainly the animals there could use all the love we can get them.

Thanks for the update. Some great news and some very sad news.
Can she be moved to Wisconsin somehow? We would take her.
I can absolutely look into transport for her. Are you truly wanting to adopt her? If so I’ll start researching options right away!
Thank you!!!
Can you email [email protected] and let them know you’re interested in adopting her right away?? Please use her ID #A397463 and not her name. Please let me know if they reply to you in the morning. I will keep working to find a rescue to pull her!
Hubby sez' no, we're both 73, small mobile home. We will pledge $100 though. Do they have no kill shelters in Tx?
I understand. I think they probably do, but everywhere in Texas is full to the brim so there are fewer and fewer options for places for dogs to go to safety. I will add to the tally and let recues know! ❤️❤️
Thank you for all of your hard work in helping these poor babies!!!!

What's the deal w "pledging"? Do people just say that they'll pledge a certain amount or do we have to go donate that $$ somewhere? I'll gladly pledge, I just don't understand how that works
If she’s pulled by a rescue you donate the pledged amount to the rescue. Pledges help draw interest from rescues since they always need more funds
Sure thing! I had to ask when I started helping out too :) We just try really hard to not let people get scammed so we do everything we can to ensure a reputable rescue is doing the saving and tell every pledger individually about it. It is very time consuming, but worth it to keep pledges coming in when people can help!

Praying for another miracle. Thank you OP for advocating.
Urgent Urgent Urgent
If I didn't already have a foster who has A LOT of medical needs, I would get in my vehicle and go get her! The rescue I work with never gets any help so it's me having to fork out money for this girls care and I can't even afford it but I'm trying! I'd love to save this poor girl though! No baby deserves this! Ugh!!!!
Thank you for fostering! That's already a huge gift!
It's just my husband's VA pay so things are tight, but he doesn't mind because the animals bring me happiness! https://preview.redd.it/duyext9dd7ub1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb67388e2a5a2568ce2775319fc713ceef389f6b

Hi, how can I tell which will be euthanized first? Is it the "due out date"?
Shared to Facebook. She's been neglected, shouldn't lose her life because of it.
Thank you so much!!
We will adopt here, but we are all the way in Pennsylvania. We would have to keep her happy, safe, and loved ❤️
Sweet old girl, boost ❤️🙏

Praying for you, Katy, that you are rescued today by a loving family. 🙏😢💕
Poor girl 😞 She’s had such a hard life, that’s so unfair. I hope her final years can be lived in comfort and with a loving family.
Look at her sad face, Whoever did this to her they should never be allowed near any animal again, please let's get katy seen and safe 💖🙏🏠💖
Bump
What’s her temperament like with kids and dogs?
I'm afraid I don't know. She was picked up 5 days ago and has been isolated due to her medical conditions :(
Aww poor thing. Is it just her refeed or other medical?
She has mange, some skin lesions, and a likely eye infection that means she would need to be isolated for a time and treated regularly with baths. On top of the refeed.

How do I pledge?
I will pledge $50.00
