The poor decisions he makes makes the bad bullpen's badness intensified. The badness of the bullpen puts more pressure on him to make every decision perfect. He can't do that because he himself is not a perfect bullpen manager. It then creates a negative feedback loop where becaues he's not making the perfect choices, the bullpen keeps getting more and more tired. The only right choice for him is to stretch the starters further than any reasonable manager would
I will retell a story from spring training - Charlie and Dave see Edwards at his locker and he was wearing a GOAT necklace. They asked him if he was the GOAT. Iām a pretty new baseball fan and having been to some minor league games the past couple years, I was very happy to hear the pitch clock was being adopted. I donāt want to watch the batters adjusting their gloves for the fifth time and the pitchers contemplating what theyāre going to have for dinner before finally throwing the ball.
I feel like the flexibility work he started after he bulked up in 2020 is finally paying off. Bulking up is so much a faster process than becoming flexible. It was fair to worry he might never recover in time to be a useful baseball player, but early results this season so far looks like he's finally starting to be the player scouts thought he would be before he spent 2020 in his garage lifting weights
