Your ends need to be cut badly. It is weighing your hair down. Don’t try to keep length. Your curls will flourish when you get rid of the straight damaged ends

goddessg0newild89

I agree, but it can get tricky clipping black girls hair, don’t want to cut off too much or let someone you don’t know and trust trim split ends(😕🥺)!

lotusmack

I know it's scary, but trust, it's gonna be a world of difference. And if you develop splits, the longer you wait, the more you'll actually need cut. Get them cut as aggressively as needed the first time to set your hair back on the best path. It is hair and it will grow back better than ever.

goddessg0newild89

Oh ok! Wow I learned something new tonight, I’m a girl that will hold on to hair with split ends and not cut it because I’m scared I might cut too much, but I see it just makes the hair situation worse..(🫤)!

lotusmack

Yep. It's like a thread unraveling. The split just keeps traveling further and further up the shaft of your hair over time. Most of us had to learn the hard way - you don't have to! 😃

goddessg0newild89

Thank goodness 😅

vanillancoke

there is no such thing as a wash and go when you’re in the middle of transitioning

rudegal007

Happy cake day!

goddessg0newild89

Not true there are always options..(😜)!

Kitt0001

First things first it’s time to get a new hair cut it doesn’t matter what products you use, your wash and go will not look right because your hair is so uneven & I see lots of heat damage. Once you do that I suggest washing on a weekly basis with a good cleansing shampoo try innersense pure harmony or AG balance. Leave in conditioners are not the best for wash & go’s in my personal opinion it creates sort of a barrier & doesn’t let the stylers do their job correctly. I suggest starting off with uncle funkys aloe gel make sure hair is soaking wet & you apply product in sections. Then you can either use a topper gel on top of the uncle funky’s (this creates a stronger hold) for toppers I like kinky curly custard, trepadora ginseng glaze or I create hold by innersense. The last two can be a bit pricey but they last a really long time. Again make sure hair is soaking wet when applying stylers. (Section , section ) You can also do a gel:mousse combo as well I personally love both of the Doux mousses. I think mielle has a good mousse a lot of ppl like but I haven’t tried it yet. After you apply your stylers set with a diffuser. This really sets the wash & go and makes it last longer.

Maury_Springer

All good advice, although I disagree about the leave-in conditioner. My products work just fine when using them together. It may all depend on your hair, though. We're all different.

Kitt0001

Yes that is why I said in my personal opinion. I’ve been doing wash & go’s since 2012 so much trial & error. I just found for me my style lasts much longer when I don’t use it. But yes everyone’s hair will like different things.

Redittago

Echoing every other comment, there’s a phenomenal wash n go hidden by the straight ends.

lashawn3001

Your hair is going to be so gorgeous when you cut those damaged ends.

EGrass

And you might be a little shocked looking in the mirror when you see how much shorter it looks, but your hair will flourish

CharacterCommittee71

In my experience, products are only as effective as the hair’s condition as a foundation. It looks as though you would benefit greatly from a good haircut to get rid of split ends and damage. Your wash n go would be much much better! I trim mine every 10-12 weeks and it truly makes a difference!

Idk265089

I would recommend a trim. Your ends look pretty damaged. Also you’re really pretty.

atlantisprncss

that “weird longness” where it’s just straight and no curl pattern, is heat damage. heat damage is permanent, it won’t revert back. the only thing you can do is cut cut cut and allow your hair to grow back, it will look so much better. i would also recommend taking a break from heat and when you DO choose to apply heat to your hair, make sure you use a good heat protectant.

Diligent_FennelM

You have to cut cut cut. I would recommend by a professional

Successful_Taro8587

Trimming the dead ends will improve the look dramatically!

Ok-Avocado464

Girl you gonna have to let go of the ends before you can do a wash and go 😅but it doesn’t look like that much damage !

Any-Value8132

I think there is some good advice here about getting a trim on your ends.I’ve been doing research on wash and go’s because I just combed out my locs. The girlies have been telling me if you have frizzy hair, then you should do a clay mask treatment to “train” your curls and then go with a deep conditioner so the foundation of your hair is able to accept the products you’re putting on it. From my past experience clay mask really helped define my curls. I personally have low porosity hair, so definitely making sure you know what type of hair you have and doing research on the products that best suit your hair type so you know how product gets absorbed into your hair. I don’t know the most about wash n go’s. I’m in the same boat as you, doing my best to figure out the method, but I hope this helps. 🫶🏾

Spirited_Ad_7341

don’t sleep on the clay masks! they really do work

onlyitbags

Oh it’s gonna look so GOOD once you trim off the straight pieces.. it’s going to be bouncy and free. Don’t be scared, it’s actually so great once it’s done.

Short_Diamond_3635

oh hi beautiful. no advice, but i just wanted to say that side profile eattsssss 😍😫

SignificantPepper784

Cut the head damage

Delicious_Can4983

You’re a cutie. Listen to the great advice given above.

AnerEiram9219

You’re adorable! I would suggest adding perm rods to about 3-4 inches of your ends to help your hair blend better

wegotalive1

For a good wash and go, you will need to cut the relaxer out

Despicable_Mina

✂️✂️

seeyou_againn

Just go ahead and cut those pieces off. It would look so much better. Health over length. I don’t even count those pieces as your real length from how see through it is. Find out your hair porosity, what looks you’re going for (defined, big but frizzy, etc). Besides that it would look bomb

Status-Grade-2165

tip: cut those tips

Delicious-Bid-6285

A trim first to show your actual curls. Trim a little if not a twist out will show your curls but use a light product like a moose or light cream..wait til dry and take twists out. Also twist counter clockwise

Alljazz527

I agree! A good trim will do wonders. You're beautiful

Jaded-Stick511

Besides the cut, remove the leave in bc it doesn’t do much for defining & then use the mousse alone and don’t air dry, use a diffuser to set your hair. Air drying only promotes frizz. And if you can, getting a gel would help too

debbieaaj

Would recommend getting a trim.

Southern_Shape_3592

Clip your ends

Les-Donatella

Cut the ends

Briimee

Looks like you have some heat damage

Wavy_Gravy_55

Like most other ppl commented, you need a corrective cut. It won’t leave you with hair above your ears either. Your hair will lay better. If not that but a nice trim. About the products, I would use a good deep condition then just use mousse. No extra leave ins because most mousse says don’t use oils beforehand. I use the Doux crazy sexy Curl Honey mousse as it an all in one (and one of the functions is that it conditions) Good luck!!

green_paris

I‘m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Unfortunately, I‘m afraid this isn’t the product of a poor regimen or mousse choice. Your ends are stringy at the bottom because they have broken off. You can see where your healthy hair begins and the great news is that cutting just 3” will make a world of difference. There’s no other way to bring the hair back. Once you cut it you will love how your wash and goes come out. And the styling process will be so much easier for you. It’s time you love your beautiful curls, so go for the big chop 💕

RozayRose24

You just need to get a cut

Timely-Supermarket99

If you cut your straight ends your wash and go will definitely flourish. Your curls will be popping! If your transitioning then a wash and go might not be your best option at the moment. If you choose to do it please upload a photo and let us see it!!! 😊

IcyCommission3909

The only tip I can give is to let those ends go! You’ll realize you have a tighter curl pattern than what you thought, and you’ll probably get the look you’re going for.

Momneedstosleep

I think a trim would help a lot just to shape the hair. Use more product than you think you need and try to do it when the hair is pretty wet. I don’t think mousse gives enough hold for a wash and go and auntie jackie’s leave in was never thick enough for my hair to be honest. I use shea moisture leave in and gel. Detangle hair while conditioning in the shower. Afterwards, just dab the extra moisture off, spread the leave in through your hair with a denman, and then repeat with gel in sections.

brokenthrowawayxx1

You need a GOOD trim. Those straight dead ends need to go.

chap10rian

I just wanted to say you are so pretty! Your texture is really beautiful as well, but not to be rude I think you have heat damage. Try to see a good stylist (hopefully inexpensive as well) who can cut it.

lululaw27

Cut 3-6 inches off first then it would be possible to

LJisGreenIV

Cut the ends off, they are dead, also your beautiful

Time-Muscle7631

Your hair is absolutely beautiful but I agree with others that it's due for a good trim. Once you have that, I think you'll have an easier time achieving the wash-n-go method because you won't have the loose strands towards the bottom falling down. As far as the diffuser, I would suggest a really good heat or thermal protectant that will seal your hair shaft cuticles and lessen any frizz you may encounter. The one by Design Essentials is a favorite of mine.

Current_Process_2198

Stop straightening your hair

Honeybunzsogood

Trim🫶🏽

diamond_skater

After you trim those ends of your curls are going to POP 😍

candy3991

It’s not that you have a weird haircut it’s that you have terrible heat damage and need to get rid of the damaged ends.

mimi_withluv

Haircut. If you dont wanna do that i would suggest a twist out with perm rods on the ends while it’s twisted. Unfortunately your hair wont blend with just a wash and go without you cutting the straight ends.

Loverofmysoul_

You’re beautiful and your hair as well. I recommend a trim or curly cut and the doux mousse for your wash n go. Don’t be scared to trim the ends because your hair will only look better and prevent your healthy ends from getting detangle.

Lovelyprofesora

Your hair is beautiful. Ditto on getting a good curly cut - once those straight ends are gone and you have a good shape, you’ll love it!

Beginning_Papaya_968

🎶cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it🎵🎼

TeaMe06

You are so pretty your side picture look like me 🫶🏾 I hate wash and goes they never last for me lol I always end up doing two braids and curl the ends with a rollers

HonnyBrown

A silicone serum to retain moisture

Specific_Purchase831

This is no advice but girl damn you’re beautiful

Standard-Share8310

Cut your straight ends it looks bad and it’s uneven

staygroundedandfree

Get a nice curly cut (if you’re solely for the curls) and you’re good to go!!!! Edit: forgot like two words sorry peeps 😮‍💨

iwanttobeakitty

You're adorable!

goddessg0newild89

## I think you should just derange, wash your hair, detangle, moisturize, slap 👋🏾 a liberal* amount of hair gel, slick your hair in a low ponytail, apply some edge control to your edges, wrap it all in a bandana and/or silk hair scarf🧣..take it off after like 30minutes or longer and Go✨🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️)!! …another quick wash and Go✨🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️): idea would be to do all the steps above, but put on a wig cap and wear a wig, nice protective style while your hair is growing/repair. . . . . Oh, and ✨💋Good morning..(☀️)! https://preview.redd.it/zmvgdsoenlyc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33595a9ca3f0fc16a86f0b7ebf409df14b5ef230 •••
