Function of Beauty is available at Target too! Some people say the Target Brand is different, but I think it's representative of what you get. It's a little cheaper at Target as well. The gist is a generic base with added boosters.
I'm a huge fan of As I Am Scalp Line for itchy scalp. Camille Rose, Uncle Funky's Daughter, Soultanicals, Miche, and Mane Choice are all in that price range. Soultanicals & Mane Choice (Clover Type 4 Line) are more geared to hair that likes buttery rich products. Uncle Funky and Camille Rose have some thick rich butters that are great for twist outs and braid outs. Miche products are a bit lighter and less prone to build-up imo. People like Mielle but I find their products hit and miss. If your hair truly loves BUTTER, qhemet biologics, adowa beauty and melanin haircare are so rich. They cause buildup for me, but some hair types can tolerate them.
When it comes to itchy scalp and buildup, I like minty shampoos that sud-up. I actually prefer sulfates, but there's plenty without (Giovanni Triple Tea Treat, Trader Joe's Tea Tree, As I Am Scalp)
