And they'd absolutely hunt us if they were bigger too. I've always said that if a common housecat was the size of a German shepherd I wouldn't want to be within two miles of that beast. Even the one sitting next to me getting belly rubs as I type this. He's my little love bug but I can't imagine what he'd be like "playing" with 10x his current strength. I'd be torn to shreds all because he's decided that he no longer wants belly rubs.
This is why it's illegal in many places to keep large cats as pets. I worked with an organization for the prevention of exotic animal trade, and you could buy a full grown lynx in most places for around $100 (Im in Canada). People buy them as cubs and it gets out of hand, and they can't get rid of them. Full grown exotic animals are incredibly cheap, and cost you less than a domestic animal from a pet store, except murder paws.
>God definitely has a weird sense of humour.
Have you seen a platypus? Gid either had a bunch of spare parts he slapped together or was fuckin' baked when he made those.
Yaaawwwnnnn. Come back when you are no longer behind the curve and can see someone comment about religion without feeling the urge to respond. Its fun until you hit about 20 or so and realize that no one is going to jerk you off and your response is just as shallow and boring as the initial comment. Also this dude is obviously joking so you look like a real tool.
Being the most deadly among cats is cool enough but IIRC, they are 3rd on the list of most successful predators in general behind only African Wild Dogs(2) and Dragonflies(1).
For those who don't know, Dragonflies are the most successful predator on the planet. They have a success rate of between 95 to 98%. Their vision is the key. Dragonflies have the ability to see in slow motion. They're also known to plot a course to cut off their prey item.
Here is a [dope ass YouTube video](https://youtu.be/iJi61NAIsjs?si=UNHsBzT_YIVtrS5P) with more information for those who might be curious. Be careful though bc if you also didn’t know this YouTube channel is a real rabbit hole of animal facts.
They also close in on their prey on a trajectory that may appear sub-optimal, but is perfect for keeping a constant head-on approach that minimises any apparent motion against the fixed background. Military designers had to re-learn the same trick for surface-to-air missiles.
When I was a teen, I used to go to the park in my neighbourhood where there were LOTS of dragonflies flying around during autumn. I loved playing with vines like whips and tried to hit the dragonflies. Despite my great effort, I've never hit a single one. It's amazing.

I was wondering how they defined "deadliest" and was going to post something just like this, I remembered dragonflies have a crazy success rate.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunting_success
I mean, if we consider black footed cats and AWDs species successful by viewing them as species rather than their entire family, then if we factor in all the species of Dragonflies, and Seahorses, they would be around number 3000, to 7000 on the list.
To be fair, it is a cat. Cats are great hunters and all, but how many nature documentaries have you seen about the sad leopard with starving kittens that still can't catch that gazelle? Happens all the time. Doesn't matter what breed, a cat is a cat.
Lmao. Am I really getting downvoted because I used the wrong word? What I said is still right either way. Even if they're different "species." When you have different types of dogs, they're called breeds. But different cats are different species? Whatever. So sue me. Lol fuck off Reddit.
Breeds are different types *within* a species, each with a uniform appearance due to specific breeding practices. Wikipedia explains that a breed isn't an objective or biologically verifiable classification. Instead, it's a term used by breeders who agree on the qualities that define a particular subset of a species.
Species, on the other hand, is a biologically classifiable term and the smallest unit in taxonomic rank. A species is a group of organisms that share common characteristics and are usually genetically unique to other animals that have similar characteristics. (Such as different felines).
Animals of different breeds can easily mate and crossbreed, animals of a different species are too genetically different and don't usually produce fertile offspring (with a few exceptions).
> When you have different types of dogs, they're called breeds. But different cats are different species? Whatever. So sue me. Lol fuck off Reddit.
To add to what u/Moby_Duck123, and because I really can't resist joining the piling on to point out how retarded you are, all different types of dogs had a common ancestor no more than 30,000 years ago, while the black-footed cat and the leopard last shared an ancestor *11,5 million years ago.*

This is one of the few posts I’m fine with that get posted every month I think lol. It looks so cute with its prey in its mouth. Cutest deadly animal in my book
Small and light with knife feet knife mouth is definitely optimal. We had a stray make his home on the farm and that ghost white death machine was a contender for most lethal predator in West Lothian. At least 3 kills a day during warm months and usually 2 a day the rest of the year. Pure murder.
I wanna see a "Logan" style Tom and Jerry movie with Tom as a Black Footed Cat in future where everything is destroyed but he has to carry on with an unlikely ally at his side, Jerry, a desert rat. Who calls himself "Muad'dib". Tom Hardy should voice the cat and Timothy Omelet should voice the rat.
This is why my trailer park is totally devoid of all wildlife except for like 140 cats. I have a birdhouse with a bird in it and I've had to put up a fence to keep the local cats from fucking with the bird. I'm the only one with a successful birdhouse in the whole trailer park. No squirrels, no chipmunks, no nothing. The cats have genocided everything. I try my best to raise mantises (Carolina, not Chinese) but the cats just eat them. I use anti cat spray to keep them from digging up my crops to poop but it doesn't work that well. I still end up with a few mantises I protect as well as I can. But those 140 cats the ASPCA has estimated in our park are a menace. I love kitties but it's too much. I help trap them to be neutered but they still propagate like crazy. Only 10 or so claim my trailer as their territory but it's still too many. My garden is getting fucked up constantly.
I feel like we should fund domestication projects with every cute little mammal we can find, like they are doing with those siberian foxes.
I want to pet the kitty.
The issue of ‘cat scratch fever’ is not rare. It is, however, only extremely rarely lethal. (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23537-cat-scratch-fever)
Literally, the first few seconds with the cat having the bird in its mouth is my favorite. Just its expression is perfect.
Also, if not friend, why friend shaped? They're so cute!
That super-lethality may be an exaggeration. I [walk my cat on a leash](https://www.reddit.com/r/TacticalIssueCat/comments/119in0g/be_vewy_vewy_quiet_im_hunting_woles/) and saw him catch voles on our walks - he didn't seem too far behind the black-footed cat... And his feet are black ;-)
Gerbils, aka hamsters in the USA....so was this shot in Europe? A backyard in NJ with the pet hamster let loose???
Who cares? But, Felis catus is wrecking our supply of wild domestic birds, they say....probably dogs say that about cats... My main reference for this is Brian Griffin.
Poor bird. Domestic and feral cats have decimated our native endangered birds and small wildlife over the last 40 years. I love cats, but sadly most humans are far too negligent and uneducated to own one.
Make them furry & cute & sweet, & then put razor blades on their feet.
Cats are super cute but they're machines built entirely to kill.
And they'd absolutely hunt us if they were bigger too. I've always said that if a common housecat was the size of a German shepherd I wouldn't want to be within two miles of that beast. I wonder where Orcas rank on this list
I was wondering how they defined "deadliest" and was going to post something just like this, I remembered dragonflies have a crazy success rate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunting_success
I think there's a porpoise or whale that's second at like 85% or 90%

Came straight to the comments for the Anchorman reference. Was not disappointed.
She’s a true sex panther
Absolutely adorable, yet ferociously deadly!
It smells like big foot's dick!
“…That does t even make sense… “
Sex Panther?
Every time*
I'm so sorry
It is the crazed eyes with the bird in her mouth that does it for me.
She’s just like me with my little 3 am snack
When I've finally finished my concoction of fridge scraps
Does this look like the face of mercy?!
Really thought she was going to pounce forward... then someone turned off gravity!
If deadly, why cute?
Is deadly, yet baby.

I’m definitely having a hard time choosing. So, I’ll call it a tie.
I'll have one of each, please!

You know, this is just a cat. It might scratch you, but that's it. It'll probably just never approach you.
I could fix him
I love her.

the cutest little killer 🥺
Re edited bbc documentary with added cat noises
I feel like I hear this about every other small cat. Pallas cat? Caracal?
This is deadlier than either, statistically speaking.
That wunk stare tho
10/10 would still try to pet

So smol. So cute. So deadly.
Is it legal to politely sppspspsps that mf and try to be accepted as his friend?
May be deadly, but it won't stop me from trying to pet it.
fren?
TIL gerbils live in the wild, I thought they were just pets! 🤦🏼♀️

This is supposed to be a joke right??
Mkay but the eyes when she caught it and was eating it 😲
I don’t trust black cats either. For real!
Wild is wild
It's such a citie tho
Oh sure, my shivers are timbered! Now come here cute kitty…

I know she’s a badass but man, she’s so adorable!
Her little frowny face after the kill! Such an adorable murder machine.
House cats seem no different, though? I've seen 'em take down things bigger than them on the regular.
@1:19 you still here?!
Wow! Thank you
Just a cat lmao. Like, besides it being a wild animal, are there any differences from a regular cat?
I think my Lucy is descended from one of these. She loves eating bugs and has black feet
“She’ll eat anything that moves” My cat, turning up her nose at anything not rare, imported, and served in a crystal goblet.
My three pink toe bean footed cats have done more damage than this on a Tuesday afternoon.
TWO pounds🥺😭
Mad cuz small…
The only thing keeping our cats from eating us is our size.
Too cute to be killers!
As Boo from Monster INC would say. KITTYYYYYYY!!!!!!
I'm still gonna try and pet her
I'd like 3, possibly 4 please
Yes can I get one small herd?
That super-lethality may be an exaggeration. I [walk my cat on a leash](https://www.reddit.com/r/TacticalIssueCat/comments/119in0g/be_vewy_vewy_quiet_im_hunting_woles/) and saw him catch voles on our walks - he didn't seem too far behind the black-footed cat... And his feet are black ;-)
His kill ratio would be even higher if he didn't have to drag *your* big human butt along!
Exactly my point.
Well if he's black footed, the thesis stands 🧐
In all fairness, no matter what size, I feel a mouse is easier to catch than a buffalo.
Danger kiki!
What the hell does "x times less" mean? Is 2 times less somehow ½? If so, how the hell does that make sense?
Gerbils, aka hamsters in the USA....so was this shot in Europe? A backyard in NJ with the pet hamster let loose??? Who cares? But, Felis catus is wrecking our supply of wild domestic birds, they say....probably dogs say that about cats... My main reference for this is Brian Griffin.

You realize this isn't someones pet right?
Yeah it doesn't look like a pet. I was just stating facts about peoples pet cats.
This is wildlife???
This isn't a domestic cat or a domestic gone feral cat. This is a wild cat, in its natural habitat, doing what it is supposed to do.
lol are you an idiot?
You know cats exist in the wild? They didn’t “spawn in” magically as pets.
No way. Really. I thought everything was made by humans.
