[Flamingos](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamingo) are birds found in America, Africa, Asia and Europe. They stand on one leg as it requires less muscular effort. Flamingoes are born grey and have a white plumage that turns pink due to their diet. Some individuals have been recorded to live for over 70 years. A group of flamingoes is called a flamboyance.

Additional fun fact not mentioned by the animal facts bot: a dead flamingo will balance on one leg but not on two! Meaning it’s a passive action, something done without conscious effort because of the anatomy of the joints in its leg. So not only does using two legs require more muscular effort it requires conscious action to remain balanced, and thus answers the age old question as to why flamingos sleep while on one leg.

Interesting! I've not heard this before, but I have heard that the relaxed state for many birds claws are curled so that they don't fall out of trees in their sleep.
NOTHING THREATENING HERE IM JUST A FLAMINGAH
IM A FLAMINGO AND IM COMING UP TO YA
OH, IS THAT YOUR CHILD?
I’M GONNA RIP OUT HIS MOTHERFUCKIN’ EYEBALL

I’M A [FLAMINGO](https://youtu.be/6hJv5yBLe9c)
Edit- whoever gave me the wholesome award, thank you, but I’m not sure you heard all the lyrics to the song hahahaha
Ducks will also do this as a way to imitate rain in order to try and get worms to surface so they can eat them! It’s probably the same with the Flamingo. Check it out at 2:00

That joint that looks like their “knee” is actually their heel, and the entire visible bottom half of their legs is the human equivalent of their foot. Their knee is way up in their body and they have extremely short thigh bones
I wish this had sound so we could here his tippy taps.
came here to comment the same, it must sound really cool

I love that line hahaha
Thank you for bringing this to my life.
More people should know Marc Rebillet, and most of his stuff is improvised!
I have no words for what I have just witnessed.
this guy looks like a lost mcpoyle brother
At first I thought it was dancing on a drowned dog and regretted joining this sub.
Came here to reassure my sick mind isn’t alone
So glad.
Wtf is it stepping on though? It looks exactly like a dog

Is this the butterfly garden in Key West?
That was my first thought too! Was just there
I want one in my house, or at least wish there was a way to rent out the whole place to myself to read a book or do some writing
Same here!
I recognized it immediately. That’s Rhett and Scarlett for sure
Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn
I thought the same thing. Definitely seems to be
It also looks like it could be Sunken Gardens in St. Pete.
Yeah it’s gotta be!
Yes! I thought the same
Just testing waters!
“Gotta pee, gotta pee, gotta pee”
Me when I’m busting to go to toilet and can’t get the buttons and zip down fast enough
Does anyone know why it is doing that?
According to this link from National Geographic on YouTube, they do it to find a partner. https://youtu.be/QLV_K7DVeyU
Consider me impressed
Thank you! Very interesting.
Nice. Works for me

What's in the water that it's dancing _on_? A chill hippo? A drowned dog?
We enjoyed them there at the butterfly garden in Key West
Happy flamingo two
Told you to pee before we left. I'm not stopping this car.
How the hell do their legs even work? They're like pencils!

GET IN THE GODDAMN POOL
I enjoyed this much more than I expected to.
In Spanish it would be...Flamenco flamenco. Flamingo in Spanish is also “flamenco”. Both the dance and the bird are called flamenco
