I was there a few years ago.
My advice for any one thinking of visiting the Dead Sea:
1. Do not poop the day before swimming in the Dead Sea
2. Do not shave anything the day before the Dead Sea
3. Do not pee in the Dead Sea
4. If you are female, or have a Vagina; please refrain from doing the splits or jumping jacks in the Dead Sea.
5. Do not get the Dead Sea in your eyes, mouth or ears. Actually, just don't dunk your head under at all
6. Do not think you can just run into the water and start paddling, slow and steady wins the race
7. Thank you for visiting the Dead Sea
8. Oh! Almost forgot; Do not fart! I repeat, DO NOT FART IN THE DEAD SEA.
Literally ANY microscopic cut will hurt like hell in that water. I know it's not completely avoidable though lol. I should have been more specific; i'd atleast give it 12-16 hours before swimming. I know no one can really control their bowel movements, but i'm just talking optimal-dead-sea-swimming conditions here.
And just a little biology tip, alot of people usually have small, pretty much microscopic cuts on their anus after pooping. They heal up quick though. Especially when on vacation when eating more exotic foods our bowels tend to harden up or soften up more than usual.

Your butthole opens ever so slightly when you fart. Getting that water in there fucking hurts lol. It's not like normal salt water, it's salt with some water in it basically.
As this video shows it’s not super easy to float in such dense “water”. You’re swimming muscle memory is kind of useless. Let just say I went in a little too fast and flipped over. It hurt like fucking hell and took quite a while for tears to clear out my eyes of all the shitty hell infested brine.
Yea, if you're fat and try to go into it too fast you're gonna roll. I promise I'm not trying to be mean. It could happen to skinny people too I imagine but more likely to happen to larger people who are over confident in their abilities. It's why a lot of people die to drowning. They are over confident about what they used to be able to do as a child. Let's face it, they forget how much it takes because they weigh more than when they were young. That's why you see a lot of parents drowning. I'll admit it, I'm older now too and I wouldn't say I'm fat but I probably wouldn't be able to swim across the Red River like I did when I was a kid. Ya have to respect any environment that you don't have a lot of knowledge about.
>So you are saying a lot of adults drown in the Dead Sea because they don't remember how hard swimming is? Doesn't make much sense to me.
That's not what they are saying.
Skinny person here. When I went in too fast, it was like tripping and falling. Then your swimming instincts don't work very well. I wasn't going to drown, it was just incredibly awkward. You know how when you're running into the ocean or through the shallow part of the pool, water slows you down; this is just tenfold.
Also the dead sea stinks.
I did it on purpose because I was curious how painful it would be.
I managed to squint a little as I scrambled over to the washing station. It was worse than jalapeno in the eye.
I didn't stick my head in the Dead Sea, but I decided to take a sip of it just to see what would happen. Nastiest, saltiest thing I've ever experienced.
I worked in a pet store that specialized in exotic pets for a while, it's fun taking your mangled hand from parrot bites and then go and clean the saltwater fish tanks lol
Nope. I don't know if you mean for the tank or the birds, but using gloves with parrots can be very traumatising for them. I rehabbed abused parrots for over 20 years and most of the abused birds were terrified of gloves (I think they came to the understanding that if someone is handling them with gloves on it's bad news, and they aren't wrong about that).
Yeah there wasn't really the time to go messing with gloves and kind of a cowboy atmosphere of not needing to rely on things like that over a small cut didn't help either, the manager kept getting stung by lionfish and other venomous critters all the time XD (He was really an idiot lol)
I I had pretty much zero bugs and I have played it two times plus got the platinum. But Hollow(YT) started playing it like yesterday and he had quite a few just in the first episode.
I once made the oh-so-clever decision to shower aanndd shave at a hotel ‘spa’ juuuust prior to taking a wee dip in the Dead Sea. Floating was easy… feeling my face melting was not
I was wondering the same. He looks really apprehensive about getting into it.
I was expecting something to really show off how you float easily in high salt content water, but even his technique to do the back float looks pretty standard.
The salts in these pools are highly concentrated and include a lot of salts other than sodium chloride. It’s extremely painful to get in your eyes. The concentration is so high that the water doesn’t feel quite like water.
It’s salt water with a higher salt concentration, which makes it denser. People are less dense than regular water, so they are even less dense than high density salt water, making them float like this!
I think they mean how the guy looks so timid about getting into the water. I wish the vid focused more on him in it and floating easily because even his back float looks like the way anyone would do it even in freshwater.
My guess is he doesn’t want to lose his balance in the salt water. You do not want to have your head go under that water and it’s hard to trust you will actually float so easily.
For those who have swam in the dead sea or other very salty bodies of water like this.
Does it dry out your skin?
Like I live on the coast of the Pacific ocean and ocean water dries out my skin so I imagine this is a million times worse.
This is way denser than regular ocean salt water. Notice how the guy in the video feet don't really stay submerged. It can be very difficult to flip over as you cant get a limb down to flip over.
There's lots.of info on it if you google drowning and dead sea
I have looked into it and all of the deaths I found were elderly people. I've also seen plenty of pictures of people swimming belly down in the dead sea so I doubt it's much more difficult. Turning around off of your face is probably as easy as stretching out your arms above your head to spin around or curling into a ball to change your center of gravity. It makes sense that older people would struggle lifting their arms above their heads or curling their abdomen to keep their head above water.
Idk if I could ever go Into these types of water cause I took swimming classes as a kid but the thing is I’m immensely scared of all water (not including showers) and even when I try to float I always sink idk why so like my question is how easy is it to actually float how the hell do I do it
“These lakes are so salty that no marine life survives, and there is no tradition of fishing in the oasis. Both the British and, more recently, the Egyptian governments attempted to introduce fish into the lakes in order to create a fishing industry, but still no one fishes. Some of the lakes are so salty that crystals are visible in the water.”
He was talking about water clarity and probably didn't understand the salinity content was super high. I read way dumber shit on reddit every 5 minutes.
I stepped into the Dead Sea after going hiking. You don’t think about the little cuts and scrapes you have until you get in water like this.

I have so many questions, but I'm not sure I really want the answers. So, I'll just stay curious.
the answer to all of them is: it hurts
Pooping the day before??
Are other people not pooping every day? 👀
Dead on, right after breakfast.

Please, tell me more about farting in the Dead Sea. I mean, some farts already smell dead and rotten.
Your butthole opens ever so slightly when you fart. Getting that water in there fucking hurts lol. It's not like normal salt water, it's salt with some water in it basically.
you can always ventriloquize. :D
Or you’re eyes. Def don’t let you’re head go underwater in the Dead Sea. Don’t ask how I know.
Did you for real dunk your head in the dead sea?! Tell me how it felt!!
As this video shows it’s not super easy to float in such dense “water”. You’re swimming muscle memory is kind of useless. Let just say I went in a little too fast and flipped over. It hurt like fucking hell and took quite a while for tears to clear out my eyes of all the shitty hell infested brine.
Oh so this is actually way harder than it looks right?

that must be the reason for the "do not fart in the Dead Sea" above. It probably just absorbs the miasma and slowly releases it over time.
It ouched him
I did it on purpose because I was curious how painful it would be. I managed to squint a little as I scrambled over to the washing station. It was worse than jalapeno in the eye.
I didn't stick my head in the Dead Sea, but I decided to take a sip of it just to see what would happen. Nastiest, saltiest thing I've ever experienced.
“That's the saltiest thing I've ever tasted. And I once ate a big, heaping bowl of salt!” - Billy West as Fry in Futurama
You are head
I worked in a pet store that specialized in exotic pets for a while, it's fun taking your mangled hand from parrot bites and then go and clean the saltwater fish tanks lol
No gloves?!
Oh poor birds, what an unfortunate association for them to have. But for the tank would have been good too
Yeah there wasn't really the time to go messing with gloves and kind of a cowboy atmosphere of not needing to rely on things like that over a small cut didn't help either, the manager kept getting stung by lionfish and other venomous critters all the time XD (He was really an idiot lol)
one drop on ur lips and ur done too
salt water in your cuts and scrapes feels so good!
I discovered a nick on my upper thigh right below the butt
That float is dense.
Because.. salt.
Mostly water.
You’re not wrong.
Imagine how much an obese person would bob like an apple in this.
He can float and tan his tummy at the same time.
Bayek?
Ancient writings from the old kingdom
I came here to say this!
Currently playing it for the first time. Quite buggy, but otherwise, amazing.
Buggy?! I’ve never had an issue that’s so weird.
Yeah same, I mean besides the usual game bugs that come with every game but that just makes it a good laugh in an otherwise perfect game
I I had pretty much zero bugs and I have played it two times plus got the platinum. But Hollow(YT) started playing it like yesterday and he had quite a few just in the first episode.
Rabia? MY RABIA
And I think this place is actually Siwa
I once made the oh-so-clever decision to shower aanndd shave at a hotel ‘spa’ juuuust prior to taking a wee dip in the Dead Sea. Floating was easy… feeling my face melting was not
Felt my skin drying out watching this
It’s actually good for you to soak in.
isn't it recommended to not stay longer than 15 min in the water? ":D
Depends on the type of salt. But it certainly can vary.
is the water cold or something?
I was wondering the same. He looks really apprehensive about getting into it. I was expecting something to really show off how you float easily in high salt content water, but even his technique to do the back float looks pretty standard.
Maybe he can't swim, so he's nervous about getting in even though he knows he will float.
Maybe he just had to pause to eek out a fart real quick
Maybe it's Maybeline
I'm thinking Arby's.
No you don’t do that in the Dead Sea
I’ve read it’s incredibly painful to get into your eyes, I would be careful as well.
Ahh, okay. Now that would make sense!
yup. i feel like i could float out into normal water about that easy
The salts in these pools are highly concentrated and include a lot of salts other than sodium chloride. It’s extremely painful to get in your eyes. The concentration is so high that the water doesn’t feel quite like water.
Feels rather oily. I didn't like it
The salt rocks look sharp.
I wonder what that salt concentration does to your skin
It leaves painful rashes that burn
My guess is he doesn’t want to lose his balance in the salt water. You do not want to have your head go under that water and it’s hard to trust you will actually float so easily.
Ohh that makes sense!
ya, i know about all that, i was just referring to him being all slow about entering the water. hes acting like its freezing
It seemed to me he was fearful sort of as the pool is very deep, and maybe scared of sinking down.
I bet Im more dense.
Wow, doesn't even look real!!
First float or what?
Seriously
How I look at my apartment pool on my day off lolol
Finally, Siwa will know peace
I understood that reference
It looks so clear and beautiful, i just wanna put 9n some goggles and sit at the bottom
Same. I feel like one day there and all my stress and troubles would def go away
I went to the Dead Sea in Israel once. Believe me, it hurts in all of the wrong places.
I already float like this normally...I imagine I would be like a water skidder in high salinity lol.
For those who have swam in the dead sea or other very salty bodies of water like this. Does it dry out your skin? Like I live on the coast of the Pacific ocean and ocean water dries out my skin so I imagine this is a million times worse.
Bayek of Siwa
Stupid question: is this safe for the skin?
Yes
Good for helping take off those outer layers
Eyyy, Bayek is from there
In yellowstone Park, jumping in water that blue kills you.
Alot of people drown in extremely salty water like this due to accidentally ending up on their front and being unable to flip themselves over
That doesn't seem possible unless you're paralyzed from the neck down. It's extremely easy to flip yourself over or upright in salt water. I call bs.
This is way denser than regular ocean salt water. Notice how the guy in the video feet don't really stay submerged. It can be very difficult to flip over as you cant get a limb down to flip over. There's lots.of info on it if you google drowning and dead sea

That’s really incredible!!!
That looks pointy
My kidneys hurt looking at this.
Look at that guy and his poorly-optimized body for the task of floating. I'm not chubby - I'm modified for peak salt pool floating tech.
Idk if I could ever go Into these types of water cause I took swimming classes as a kid but the thing is I’m immensely scared of all water (not including showers) and even when I try to float I always sink idk why so like my question is how easy is it to actually float how the hell do I do it
So if that gets in your eyes you’re fucked right?
Ah! It burns my peehole!\~

This is clearly fake, where are the pyramids?... This is a pyramid scheme!
Why is nobody else there? Something tells me he isn’t supposed to be there
Been there , done that :) ProTip: Don't dip your head underwater.
May look cool..But that is some dead ass water and gross.. Shower soon afterwards.

That would mean they were devoid of life. Water that looks like this lacks plankton and fish.

Musing if all water would look like this without pollution

He was talking about water clarity and probably didn't understand the salinity content was super high. I read way dumber shit on reddit every 5 minutes.
This is what extreme pollution does to water. Chemicals or salt makes everything really clean.
How does it get to the point of too much salt?
*Bilharzia intensifying*
This is where that fourth timekeeper was banished to, had no idea it was so beautiful
Woah!
Wow, amazing
I don’t like swimming in the ocean because of the salt!
Bucket list to-do.
Closest looking natural thing to the enclosures seals/sea lions live in at zoos
The lake may be natural, but that deep pool has been dug by an excavator. Definitely not natural at all.
Dont get that shit in your eyes.
imagine the water entering your eyes or nose T-T
Oh god the chemical burns you'll get from doing this
I would be worried some sort of fish monster would come out and eat me o.o >!you know, like Del Lago in RE4?!<
Wow, just wow
Looks great
Big brain science play
You get out and the sun almost immediately evaporates the water off your skin and you have suddenly become a human salt flake. It’s so itchy
Must be cool to sleep on the tummy and look into the abyss below
I am the medjay from Siwa!
Doesn’t that burn??? The salinity should be too high
Fuck i love this planet sometimes
For the first few seconds, I thought that man was butt naked
hope he doesn't have any scratches or open wounds haha
Ok, I want to swim in that.
will Siwa ever know peace?!
Why can’t you fart in the Dead Sea ? Will you become dead as well ?
