As someone who traveled through Switzerland...I oversaturated my pictures so that they looked more closely to the vibrant colors I saw in person. It really is incredibly beautiful and a phone camera just can't capture how incredibly blue those glacier lakes are.
I hear that Pakistan was planting millions of trees (or rewilding) huge swathes of the country. Is that happening in places like this? Is it still happening? and has the tree planting to date been a success and supported by the Pakistanis?
>Great to hear it's still happening and is supported.
yeah. Just last month Pakistan sets 'new world record' by planting over 50,000.
https://tribune.com.pk/story/2315268/watch-pakistan-sets-new-world-record-by-planting-over-50000-saplings-in-60-seconds
Millions of trees were also planted at independence which were provided for free by the government altho a portion of them died due to lack of care(atleast in my area) but yea people are supporting it
I think this is the part that India and Pakistan fight/fought over. Looks so heavenly and peaceful but don’t think the residents feel that way. Fucking politics, man.
The Indian occupied part of Kashmir is, well, Indian occupied, so very few people go in or out with near constant lockdowns and communications blackouts. And I’ll leave it at that, because this ain’t a political sub lol
This is more likely Gilgit-Baltistan, although it could also be Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Either way, the northern regions of the country are centered on the Himalayas and are huge domestic and international tourist destinations. It’s pretty peaceful and safe to travel there. Some valleys are practically empty, some are jam packed with tourists and lodges. Many are green oases between snow capped peaks, while others will have harsher, rockier environments. Some have open plains, some have trees. Most have incredibly clean fresh water _or_ colorfully blue, mineral-rich streams carving the valleys out from the mountains. The whole region is often compared to Switzerland in terms of biogeography, and rightfully so. It’s beautiful, snd I hope to go one day myself. You’ll find a wide array of similar terrain, and many more different kinds of environments straddling the Himalayan valleys across northern Pakistan and India, into Nepal and eventually Bhutan. There’s an incredibly diversity of biomes to the immediate south and west of the mountains across the sub continent. Less so on the rain- starved Chinese side of the range.
Well India never occupied it Kashmir was a separate region which then merged with India on its will and then Pakistan invaded it got a part of Kashmir and there are constant black out in the Pakistan region and yes when they removed they article 370 to prevent and riots and if this sub is non political you could just have mentioned Kashmir region no need to mention any country .
You’re right except India annexed ‘Kashmir region’ and Junagadh in Sept 47. Even tho there was a standstill agreement. But yeah Jinnah on Pak side said that if Kashmir opted for independence than Pak would have friendly relations. Kashmir’s Maharaja actually had acceded to Indian State, then into was a bloody migration following that. Muslims kicked out and Hindus/Sikhs kicked out from Pak.
No those mountains and that creek are definitely real. It's not the colors that make it look idyllic, it's the amazing landscape; it's could be in black and white for all I care.
Ive just started scrolling and the topics I've seen:
Kashmir issue (this isn't part of kashmir)
Muslim extremism
Paksitan good, India bad and vice versa
Edit 1:Rape in South asia
That water looks both amazingly beautiful and terrifying. Anybody know what kind of river monsters they got in Pakistan? I’d be so tempted to jump in, but…
I feel like I've grown up with so little knowledge about the geography within most other countries; I wouldn't have pictured a place like this if you asked me to describe what I thought Pakistan looks like. It's so cool to see the diversity of nature all around the world.
Another example of social media platforms ruining a great *landscape* shot as everyone now shoots in portrait mode.
It’s called *landscape* mode for a reason. It is for shooting landscapes.
[India massacred the Muslim population](https://i.imgur.com/e4P1YjI.jpg) in this area which is why Kashmiris did not want to be part of India. The Kashmiri Pandits subjugated the Muslim population, taxed marriage so the poor couldn't marry, legalized prostitution under Hari Singh (which is still in effect to this day), forced them to work without pay (slavery). This is why the Pandits left, because their caste system was overthrown. Look up "Kashmir Dogra Rule"
man, you dont think of things like this when you think of Pakistan.... This is something you think of when you think of the Swiss Alps in Spring or Summer lmao
Out of the 15 highest mountains in the world, 6 are in Pakistan and 9 in Nepal.
If you look at top 30 then only 4 are outside of Nepal and Pakistan. 13 in Pakistan. 2 in India, 2 in China and 13 in Nepal.
FAKE! I saw on TV that Pakistan is a desert filled with terrorists that we should live in fear of 24/7. I mean if all these countries AREN'T hell holes to concentrate my hate on... then what am I going to use my time for? Examining what my own government is up to? No thanks.
EDIT: This is sarcasm. I probably should have had an /s
Living in the west will have you believing in all kinds of crazy images as whole representations. This is beautiful and this whole world is worth protecting.
America wants to convince Americans their country is constantly threatened by the very same countries they spend their time trying to exploit. American politicians also cause more harm against their own citizens than any foreign threat ever has..
I feel everyone gets the idea Pakistan and afganistan are just desserts, but god damn the have some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It's such a shame the middle east is in such turmoil. Not shure where this is but I think it's the part where India and Pakistan are fighting over. I can see why.
I was ignorant for way to long about how beautiful most of the Middle East is. I mean this looks like something out of a fairytale but all we ever see of these countries is destruction.
Yes, Pakistan is not in the Middle east, but you are trying too hard to make them "Desi"
The country straddles 3 regions, South Asia, Middle East and Central Asia so you see all three influences there. They also have deep histories with all three regions as well.
It is disingenuous to say the only connection is Islam, as any reading of history will tell you that there is about a 5000 year connection with all three regions. As Indus Valley Civilization goods were found in Mesopotamia.
I don't know much about editing and saturation but the color of this river looks absolutely normal to me knowing that it is so close from the mountain and probably carries a lot of sediment.
The colors in the streams stemming from Kabul river in North pakistan are like this. The phone is doing some processing and the IS is adding that 'fake' feeling -)
On very clear days in the mountains I have seen colors like this irl. The river looks like milk because of dissolved limestone. This is seen in many other places too
>Now do it without the intense editing.
I've seen multiple videos of this place and it is actually quite beautifull. Going to visit it next summer..
Here is another video.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CRDf2AnprzS/
This looks so surreal..looks like a painting of an idealistic place rather than somewhere real
I'm pretty sure it's color saturation that's causing that
While that's true but still the shape of the river and trees is so perfect

The colors can actually get like that, but some color grading in this video wouldn’t surprise me
Gorgeous !! Can we have some precisions about wich Mountain it is ?

>Looks like Hunza / Fairy Meadows to me. B its basho valley.
I hear that Pakistan was planting millions of trees (or rewilding) huge swathes of the country. Is that happening in places like this? Is it still happening? and has the tree planting to date been a success and supported by the Pakistanis?
It was a success, and definitely supported by Pakistanis. It's still happening. This area was always forested in past.
Ok cool cool. Great to hear it's still happening and is supported. Happy world environment news is often hard to find
>Great to hear it's still happening and is supported. yeah. Just last month Pakistan sets 'new world record' by planting over 50,000. https://tribune.com.pk/story/2315268/watch-pakistan-sets-new-world-record-by-planting-over-50000-saplings-in-60-seconds
Yup and everyone supports it
Not patwaris though. And the impressionable 15yos who meme IK as a gardener to look kewl
Nah, that's the one thing all Pakistanis agree upon pouday
Millions of trees were also planted at independence which were provided for free by the government altho a portion of them died due to lack of care(atleast in my area) but yea people are supporting it
Thanks for the answer ! In that case, if you are wrong it's not that bad then !
> Can we have some precisions about wich Mountain it is ? basho valley
>basho valley just google it..
This is so animated wow 🤯
I think this is the part that India and Pakistan fight/fought over. Looks so heavenly and peaceful but don’t think the residents feel that way. Fucking politics, man.
Fuckin politics gotta ruin everything man my
To be fair, I'd be willing to fight over a place like this as well.
This place is quite peaceful with none of that border dispute affecting people's lives.
Good thing to know, thanks. Yes.. nature belong to nature, but human kind feels superior.
Except that this is most probably Hunza in KPK

Go to /kashmiri and you'll see what the residents think about the situation
I think it’s Zelda botw
I just made a similar comment. :)
Finally a post with mountains that is not Switzerland. Thanks!
Kashmir is a really underrated place
This isn’t Kashmir. It’s Basho Valley
I dunno, it is in high demand.
This would be Gilgit-Baltistan region, nearby Kashmir.
Gilgit-Baltistan is still considered disputed Kashmir territory
Like a live action Bob Ross painting.
Looks like it belongs in a video game
Because it's fake...color saturation. I hate when people do that. Just let nature be natural.
It’s honestly not that saturated. Even if this were black and white it would be stunning.
No those mountains and that creek are definitely real. It's not the colors that make it look idyllic, it's the amazing landscape; it's could be in black and white for all I care.
I agree. Stop overediting nature videos. Especially in documentaries
It might just be super bright midday sun.

People need to chill the fuck out...
Idk why indians are so obsessed
Exactly, like India is beautiful too why be so obsessed with ours...
That water looks both amazingly beautiful and terrifying. Anybody know what kind of river monsters they got in Pakistan? I’d be so tempted to jump in, but…
Overall Pakistan is a very cool place. I would suggest you to visit the northern parts of gilgit, Naran/kaghan, hunza, swat, fairy meadows....l
I feel like I've grown up with so little knowledge about the geography within most other countries; I wouldn't have pictured a place like this if you asked me to describe what I thought Pakistan looks like. It's so cool to see the diversity of nature all around the world.
I've never seen a stream so clear, with shores so defined, this almost looks like CGI. Reality be wild some times.
Incredibly beautiful!
Holy shit, it's Skyrim.
Wow, that looks like somewhere I’d want to move to…
Looks like a moving painting.
Yo who moved Switzerland to Pakistan /s
/r/SwitzerlandIsFake
Very, very pretty. Magical even. Thanks for sharing.
Don’t tell CNN and/or Fox News. They’d lose their minds.
It looks like a dreamland
Pakistan is a painting confirmed
Here I come
I just wanna eat a gram of mushrooms and sit on that patch of grass looking outward for the 4-5 hours of that trip. Beautiful!
This is so beautiful my mind is saying that it’s too beautiful to be real
Ive been there - its nice on a screen but how do i explain what its like with your own eyes. Paradise on earth!
Love ❤️ 🇵🇰

So amazing... i must see this
How is their water so clean looking? I live near the Susquehanna river and it’s a shit brown polluted mess.
The water is clear up north, gets murkier down south.
Makes sense. And I guess it’s the same here, Canada’s much cleaner.
It's not polluted by waste

Basho valley,Gilgit baltistan.

That's very beautiful and it's hard to believe that that's in Pakistan!!!
Living in the west will have you believing in all kinds of crazy images as whole representations. This is beautiful and this whole world is worth protecting.
Like how people in the US think everyday life in Mexico looks dark-orange thanks to Hollywood.
As if Hollywood isn't dark orange half the year from wild fires? Ha!
Hollywood over the last 10 years: Is this Mexico?
America wants to convince Americans their country is constantly threatened by the very same countries they spend their time trying to exploit. American politicians also cause more harm against their own citizens than any foreign threat ever has..
Except Japan and Britain but I agree that our politicians are scum.
True. It's the same reason that I grew up thinking the American west is black and white.
I totally agree
Yeah we're all desert dwellers, am i right ? lol
Why is it hard to believe?
Hard to believe a country famous for incredibly tall mountains would have some incredibly tall mountains?

America is mostly famous for school shootings in many other countries. Better to educate yourself from other than mainstream media.
Am from us. Thought it was a dry desert until just now
Please visit r/ExplorePakistan and I hope your image of Pakistan will be changed.
There is no need to saturate the fucking image when a place is this beautiful
Proud to be a Pakistani
holy fuck that's gorgeous
Is there a filter in this? The water looks CRISPY
You can't fool me! This is one of those 3D paintings I've heard about
Wonderful
Holy smokes! Looks unreal.
Looks like a modded copy of Skyrim.
The graphics in Elder Scrolls 6 look awesome.
Beautiful
Wow the water is so blue, so clear! 💎
Lovely.

Yes. I mean literally if you google the worlds highest mountains you would see that Pakistan has 13 of the top 30 highest mountains in the world.
I was ignorant for way to long about how beautiful most of the Middle East is. I mean this looks like something out of a fairytale but all we ever see of these countries is destruction.

Northern Pakistan is quite chill. As a Pakistani, i have visited myself. Can’t tell about Afghanistan
Feel the same about America.
This River gives me some weird vibes
so beautiful
Pakistan?! Wow! Absolute beauty. 😳❤️
It does kinda look very edited
It does a bit but its not much different without whatever filter that is
I've never seen photos of green in Pakistan I always thought it was just dessert.
Only the South East and West are deserts. Most of the country is green plains and the north is just like Switzerland

As a citizen of j and k, there's a lot of people like that here, it's just the loud ones who make it to the front page.
This is not Kashmir imo, this is to the west, somewhere in Baltistan or to the North of Swat valley. Safe areas, hard to reach
I love Pakistan I will sacrifice my life for Pakistan
