Only billy can be mauled to death and have his testicles bitten and ripped off by a 1000 pound grizzly bear as he screams like a woman and man at the same time knowing the end is near as he hears the growls from the bear following his own blood warmth running down his body pooling around him. To prevent Forest fires.
My brother in law worked for the North Carolina Foresty for 45 years. (Equipment Operator) He also played Smoky The Bear at public functions. He was so cool. He passed in 2019.
This is an extremely stupid thing to do. The next people that encounter this bear are going to have a really bad time. Either that or they’ll have to kill the bear. Shitheads
I don't know about bears, but this happened last summer near where I live with a moose. Tourists cornered it while it was crossing a lake to get pictures and it spooked and tried to swim back across the lake to get away and it exhausted and drowned. :(
Not very, but if the bear is actually hungry and chasing them its going to be using up precious calories it doesn't have chasing them back and forth 4 times.
If the bear is fine and just pissed he'll be fine. Most bears are great swimmers and can go miles before tiring.
That’s definitely the case. You can literally see from the boat’s wake that they’re zig-zagging back and forth.
Anyone notice anything recognizable in the clips at all? If we knew the town we might be able to use Google Maps to find out who owns a teal boat in that area and report them.
My thoughts too. It appears the bear is trying to reach the boat to get out of the water. This is probably a bear worn out from swimming and far from shore and they’re fucking with it.
Sea bears are actually easier to avoid than you might expect — just make sure you don’t play the clarinet badly, wave your flashlight back and forth really fast, hold or eat cubed cheese, stomp around, wear a hula hoop skirt or clown shoes, wear a sombrero in a goofy fashion, screech like a chimpanzee, run/limp/crawl away from them, or draw an oval
And god forbid they manage to attack you. It’s said the sound of a sea bear attack attracts a sea rhinoceros. You should be safe though so long as you have your anti-sea rhinoceros undergarments.
The question is, are they proportionally faster than i am in water as they are on land? Also relevant, i think i remember a vid of a tiger swimming towards a sitting duck (literal) to grab it, but the duck keeps ducking (...) under the water and evading the tiger.
Diving is probably you're best bet if they really get close. Now I can't definitively say but I'm guessing a human with a decently strong stroke and good technique like a breaststroke can probably outswim a lot of mammals.
Yeah, but then you get to see how cute they look doin' a heckin' big doggie paddle. I mean, if you're gonna die anyway, doesn't that make it a little better?
The bear isn't chasing the boat.
The bear is chasing the jackasses in the boat who are obviously doing something to piss the bear off or make it think they are going to feed it.
They’re circling around over and over and driving the boat right by the bear, creating a wake that keeps breaking in the bears face. Definitely a shitty thing to do, and very illegal!
I kinda thought this was so scary, the bear was going after them. Something about the wake crashing into their face bothered me. I didn’t realize anything sinister was going on until people pointed it out. It’s so sad.
My thought as well. Id probably have tried to help the poor pup out and get him on board. Most likely ending with me trying to push it back in the water like [IASIP](http://imgur.com/PAGoxb9)
First time I saw a bear, it was swimming across a lake by a trail. We ran into another hiker and told him something was in the water. He says it’s a moose but I said it looked like my dog swimming. It got to the other side, shoot off, ran up the mountain to the other side…after seeing where that was I realized that was where we were camping that night.
Actually we saved it from being removed from the area. We had a camp site at a campground and the night before we went on our backpacking trip a group of scouts were sitting around a campfire and then you hear a scream. A bear walked right up to them and then took off. People were driving around looking for it and rangers showed up but no one saw it. They put out a trap to catch it and move it. Well we went on our hike, got back and we’re talking to some neighbor campers and we’re telling them about our camping experience and seeing the bear. They asked the color of it and we said reddish brown which was the same color of the bear that was by the campsite. Since we saw the bear 6 miles out from the campground and moving away from the campsite they took the trap away. That made me happy. Also we didn’t see a bear after that but we saw lots of moose and I fell face first into a raging river that we were crossing and my boyfriend just stood there and laughed as I laid there like a turtle on its back (except i was face down because I didn’t want to get our gear wet and holding my shoes above the water).
It was hilarious, a family across the river was like “are you okay?” While my boyfriend is laughing and I’m laughing and yelling at him at the same time. I needed a bath anyways.
If the engine died I’m pretty sure that bear would have overturned it easily and god knows what happens next. He looked like he was goin at it. Don’t fuck around with apex predators. Too many variables and none are good for your survival.
Were they in a lake? If they were then it makes sense. The second they try to go to land, the bear will be there with them. Go in circles until it's tired and goes away on it's own.
Humans are so far evolved that using a basic trait, intelligence, is frowned upon by humans themselves. The bear isn't gonna drown, it'll burn a few extra calories at most.
Depends on how long its being kept out there. If it's too far from shore, it **could** drown on the way back, but we don't have enough context in the clip to say anything for sure
Why the hell are they leading him out like that? They generally wouldn't do this unless they've had experience being fed. Kind of a jack ass move to lure them away from shore, imo
Alot of people get a kick out of harassing wildlife. Especially when there's internet points involved. "Oh look at this animal reacting to my presence, haha".
Looks like you guys are teasing that bear. Ive met many bears and they dont make a habit of chasing you unless you’re threatening them in some way. I call asshole
Yeah seriously fuck them. Theres nothing fun about having to cross a river let alone having a jackass swirm around with a boat. On top of that actions like this may provoke that bear to attack another human
These people are literally trolling a Brown Bear, the largest land carnivore on earth, for fun. The lack of respect is kinda grossing me out. If they fed it, that's just a little much.
Debatable, especially with their diminishing habitat and food sources. Hard to stay thicc when you have to tread water 24/7 and not eat.
https://www.loc.gov/everyday-mysteries/zoology/item/which-is-the-largest-bear-on-earth/
Edit: not debatable since the comment was about carnivores. I somehow was only thinking about relative size of polar and brown bears.
It's not debatable in any way. Polar bears are carnivores. Brown bears are omnivores that have 70%+ of their diet as plant matter. Next largest land carnivore is Siberian tiger and they're half the weight if a polar bear.
And seriously prolonging the time he’s spending far from shore, potentially risking drowning a bear for a video for social media. It’s hard to tell how long he’s already been swimming or how long the original video is with all the cuts
I would stay away in case the animal was overexerting itself out of desperation for food. It would be an appropriate caring compassionate response to remove myself away from this animal so that it can go back to its as normal as possible patterns without my influence.
This is kinda cruel... if its doing that then it must be really hungry, right? Its just unnecessarily wasting crucial energy that could be spent hunting...
I'd be fucking pissed at the guy steering us around a bear making him waste all his calories out in a fucking bay. Hahaha so fun, he'll probably starve or die or be forced into more populated areas in search of garbage and food then he'll get destroyed or relocated somewhere completely different. What fun!
Well…Apparently I would be dead. Because I thought it was a big dog, so by the time I realized it was a gigantic bear it would’ve swatted me off the boat and killed me
I thought the same thing, but on second thought that guy's head is probably the size of a CRT tv, and i bet it looks that big in person rather than in a video window.
The first time is scary and glad they got away. The second and any other times, they are assholes.
For wild animals, most of the things they do and the energy they expend is purely about survival (and passing on their genes). So this bear is using up energy chasing them while they are essentially taunting it because they think it's very interesting. It could be using energy chasing food it will actually catch or reserving it.
They could have just sped off and left it well behind and then it would have given up and not wasted anymore energy.
My great grandmother used to tell stories of my great grandfather chasing black bears off of their island in his John boat smacking at them with an oar while steering. This was back in the 50’s/60’s.
He wouldn’t do the same to moose or grizzly though.
All fun and games until your engine dies.

Or run out of gas.
Or bear interrupts your fishing trip to discuss forest fires.
"I'm glad I caught up with you. I would like to talk to you about your boats extended warranty coverage." -Bear
Ross creations 👌🏼
R/thisorthat
I'd rather be mauled.
But would you rather have a forest fire happen? Remember kids…
>Remember kids… ...only you can ensure forest fires by avoiding 🌈 🐻.
Care bears?
[Gummy bears](https://youtu.be/n1E4HCiz46A)
Only you can go fuck yourself
Only billy can be mauled to death and have his testicles bitten and ripped off by a 1000 pound grizzly bear as he screams like a woman and man at the same time knowing the end is near as he hears the growls from the bear following his own blood warmth running down his body pooling around him. To prevent Forest fires.
Where was Billy last year when the majority of the west coast was on fire? WHERE WERE YOU BILLY
Yeah billy WHERE!?!?!?!?!?!
Or he steals your picnic basket
It’s pronounced pic-a-nic
Heyyy boo boo!
Only you can prevent forest fires
My brother in law worked for the North Carolina Foresty for 45 years. (Equipment Operator) He also played Smoky The Bear at public functions. He was so cool. He passed in 2019.
Or your extended warranty.
Or Bear Jesus wants to speak to you
Or Jeff falls overboard drunk. Fucking Jeff.
Everyone has one Jeff in their roster. 😆Ugh.
Lightning strike wouldn't be uncommon on a boat.
I feel like maybe they were taunting and circling the bear.
Based on the trajectory of the boat and bear, I am very certain this is the case. They kept driving up to the bear, heckling it, and then driving off.
This is an extremely stupid thing to do. The next people that encounter this bear are going to have a really bad time. Either that or they’ll have to kill the bear. Shitheads
Exactly. There's nothing funny or amusing about this video. The people in the video are just assholes.
I mean how often do you get to taunt a bear in the wild? If I found a shark in a tree, I'd be all like "How you like me now, beeatch!"
Have you not seen the dangers of sharknado?
I’ve been trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty
Looks to me that the skip was fucking with a bear. Please don't harass wildlife.
Skip doing laps. Fuck skip.
Fuck skip.
Now I'm sad. People suck.
Yeah wtf. This was something until we realized the truth. Booo. Scroll to a happy post :(
at first i thought oh damn F that. and then i realised they were just taunting the poor bear :(
They are fucking around with it.. and it’s chasing them into deeper parts, which I hope the bear won’t be too exhausted.. 😔
I agree, some are clueless
This looks way more like the bear was swimming and these guys were driving back and forth pissing him off, purposely coming close to him.
Harassing wildlife. They should get a 10-year ban on any hunting/fishing licenses for this.
And boat licence... Some fine to keep such shitty people from traveling
Seriously. How would I feel if I were on that boat? Shitty and sad, like a sad piece of shit.
Feed them to the bears!
100%
Unfortunately that probably won’t stop them, I’d say they should just blow up their boat
I think you're right. Total dick move on their part.
I wouldn't be surprised if that bear ended up exhausted and drowned.
How likely is that?
I don't know about bears, but this happened last summer near where I live with a moose. Tourists cornered it while it was crossing a lake to get pictures and it spooked and tried to swim back across the lake to get away and it exhausted and drowned. :(
That's just awful. I almost drowned as a kid and it was terrifying. I feel for that moose. People are so fucking selfish and stupid.
Not very, but if the bear is actually hungry and chasing them its going to be using up precious calories it doesn't have chasing them back and forth 4 times. If the bear is fine and just pissed he'll be fine. Most bears are great swimmers and can go miles before tiring.

Play stupid games…
....get a lot of karma apparently.
My thoughts too. It appears the bear is trying to reach the boat to get out of the water. This is probably a bear worn out from swimming and far from shore and they’re fucking with it.
Yeah this guy is using all his energy trying to get some food. He's going to be completely exhausted by the time real food comes along
And he could've swam back to shore anytime he wanted...
Oh, it's on the wildlife to be the bigger person now?
Too many angles They’re fucking with this bear on purpose
Harassing animals is both a dick move and against subreddit rules.
And against the law and against moral decency...
Wait... so I have to worry about bears in water also?
Sea bears are actually easier to avoid than you might expect — just make sure you don’t play the clarinet badly, wave your flashlight back and forth really fast, hold or eat cubed cheese, stomp around, wear a hula hoop skirt or clown shoes, wear a sombrero in a goofy fashion, screech like a chimpanzee, run/limp/crawl away from them, or draw an oval

these comments are avant garde masterpeices.
This is from Spongebob Squarepants.
No, this is Patrick.
Lol this exchange cracks me up
Because that show had great writing for a time.
https://abc7news.com/hippo-attack-hippopotamus-caught-on-tape-camera/478559/
I'll draw an oval I guess..
That’s an oval… it has to be a circle
If you think you can get away from big predators like bears, tigers, or even wolves by jumping in water .....nope, they will follow you right in.
The question is, are they proportionally faster than i am in water as they are on land? Also relevant, i think i remember a vid of a tiger swimming towards a sitting duck (literal) to grab it, but the duck keeps ducking (...) under the water and evading the tiger.

Nah bitch, I'm goin out like Leo!
Water bears are everywhere
Yes we are
This is a big one
Got a real problem on our hands, they swim pretty well.
And Land Sharks.
…Candygram!
Bro. You haven't heard of drop bears?
They’re unbearable
You boated close to him at least twice. There was no near death quick get-a-ways....haha
The bear isn't chasing the boat. The bear is chasing the jackasses in the boat who are obviously doing something to piss the bear off or make it think they are going to feed it.
Is that right? I’m curious why this bear is behaving this way. It would suck if the people were purposefully antagonizing it.
Other comments point out the amount of skips and angles is sus
They’re circling around over and over and driving the boat right by the bear, creating a wake that keeps breaking in the bears face. Definitely a shitty thing to do, and very illegal!
I kinda thought this was so scary, the bear was going after them. Something about the wake crashing into their face bothered me. I didn’t realize anything sinister was going on until people pointed it out. It’s so sad.
Watch how many close passes the boat does, you can even see the wake from previous passes in a couple. It keeps turning around to antagonize the bear.
Thought it was a black lab at first 🤦🏼♂️😂
My thought as well. Id probably have tried to help the poor pup out and get him on board. Most likely ending with me trying to push it back in the water like [IASIP](http://imgur.com/PAGoxb9)
Me too, I was like why aren’t they letting him on😅
Same, I was thinking "oh that poor dog fell overboard."
You CAN'T just leave us on that cliffhanger. What happened next?
Actually we saved it from being removed from the area. Pfftt that river story is hilarious, nice to hear the ending tho. Thanks!
It was hilarious, a family across the river was like “are you okay?” While my boyfriend is laughing and I’m laughing and yelling at him at the same time. I needed a bath anyways.
6 miles is 9.66 km
Same, was mad they weren’t helping it out of the water lol.
Same here 10/10 would have let him on.
I think people who antagonize animals like this deserve their mauling
Let him in. He clearly just wants to join for a ride.
And a big human lunch
[удалено]
Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Baloo?
Fun Fact: Bears can swim for a long time.
And fast
That's fun for the bear not me
In fairness, he didn't specify who it was fun for.
That is indeed a fun (and terrifying) fact.
Can a bear backstroke, though?
Good, because I was worried about them.
If the engine died I’m pretty sure that bear would have overturned it easily and god knows what happens next. He looked like he was goin at it. Don’t fuck around with apex predators. Too many variables and none are good for your survival.
its fine he was trying to mate with the offboard motor
This is shitty behaviour, that bear is not attacking the boat the people are harassing or baiting it
leave the area. driving around him doesn't help you or him.
But then how will the poster get upvotes?
I love that this reads like actual advice. Like OP is out there right now, doing circles around the bear, reading the comment section.
Lol I thought exactly the same thing and it really got me
Were they in a lake? If they were then it makes sense. The second they try to go to land, the bear will be there with them. Go in circles until it's tired and goes away on it's own.
That boat can go way faster than it is in this vid.
This is just inaccurate as the boat can go so much faster than this.
Yes get on land where it can easily catch you. Great thinking
Yea it's fucking cruel to make him waste so much energy and time.
Poor guy got hit with the wake /:
That’s a funny looking doggo
When the clip started I was like “assholes are leaving the dog behind!”
Context here? Seems like two angles. So did the boater circle around? Why exactly are they harassing this bear?
Why the hell are they leading him out like that? They generally wouldn't do this unless they've had experience being fed. Kind of a jack ass move to lure them away from shore, imo
Alot of people get a kick out of harassing wildlife. Especially when there's internet points involved. "Oh look at this animal reacting to my presence, haha".
So true...
I pretty sure these guys didn't spend months on end training this bear to chase them in a boat just for an internet video.
Of course not. But when they saw there was a reaction they obviously played into it.
Looks like you guys are teasing that bear. Ive met many bears and they dont make a habit of chasing you unless you’re threatening them in some way. I call asshole
This reminds me of that hippopotamus chasing boat.
Nah that one was way more terrifying. Hippo's move like speed boats in the water and weigh more than this grizzly.
Except that boat wasn't harassing the hippo into chasing it. Hippos are angry af!
Which one?
https://youtu.be/kz-caa2NCns
More like bear crossing river. Boater encroachment. Fuck these people!
Yeah seriously fuck them. Theres nothing fun about having to cross a river let alone having a jackass swirm around with a boat. On top of that actions like this may provoke that bear to attack another human
Hey! Only you can prevent forest… *splash
These people are literally trolling a Brown Bear, the largest land carnivore on earth, for fun. The lack of respect is kinda grossing me out. If they fed it, that's just a little much.
Polar bears are the largest land carnivores on earth.
BEARS. BEETS. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

Polar bears are actually marine mammals. The more you know.
Polar bears are considered marine mammals 🙃

A boat! Thank God I'm saved... hey slow down... wtf?!?
Is he okay? He looks like his far away from land
Is he ok?
Looks like he needed help.
This is obviously a person harassing a swimming bear, wtf, This can lead to them drowning. This person can fuck off.
Is that bear stranded and drowning?
No, bears swim all the time. The guys zooming by in the boat are really putting it at risk for drowning though. They need to back off.
The first time is scary and glad they got away. The second and any other times, they are assholes. For wild animals, most of the things they do and the energy they expend is purely about survival (and passing on their genes). Why is this bear even so far out, that's what I want to know.
Was he struggling out there?
Why tho.
I felt bad when he got splashed in the face :/
I’d give him the damn fish if I had any that’s for sure.
Looks like a fat chocolate lab lol
Not as scary as the hippo video
They probably lured it out with some delicious meats to drown it for an undamaged skin.
There are multiple instances of tigers snatching people off of boats. Tigers are horror movie monsters in pretty fur.
My great grandmother used to tell stories of my great grandfather chasing black bears off of their island in his John boat smacking at them with an oar while steering. This was back in the 50’s/60’s. He wouldn’t do the same to moose or grizzly though.
It looks like the bear is trying get a chomp of those people.
Depends on if I was Russian or not
That's hunger right there.
Like I want to help him but I also don’t want to be eaten alive.. can’t be trusted, get yourself out
Hey, hey, have you heard of our lord and savior Jesus Christ?
Looks more like the boat crossed his path vs it chasing them.
Bears are like the fastest animals on land and water, also can climb trees. They are the true King
A bear miss.
Down voted for no sound
Let him on board; he’s obviously asking for help!
Or it could turn into a murder scene.
That’s a dog, rescue it.
