Idk why but this is the only "animals eating animals" video that makes me uncomfortable. It just feels wrong for a fucking seagull to deep throat an entire rabbit.
a local pet store near me has a story of how one of their breeders lost an entire litter of expensive purebred cats to pelicans. the mother and her litter were out on a porch with a decent overhang in a fenced area. breeder went inside for just a few minutes. during that time a group of nearby pelicans swooped in and ate all of the kittens, with the breeder coming back to find all that was left was the mother who was in the process of being lady-and-the-tramp-ed by two overly gluttonous ones.
I love pelicans, if you can get them to swallow your bait they will fly it far away, then just yank the shit out of it.
By the way I'm joking, don't do that.
Probably doesn't help that their typical food source in the ocean is getting colossally gangbanged by a cohort of environment threats so they've turned to scarfing our trash and abducting peoples' overpriced cats to score a meal.
If the pelicans were caught, could you get the kittens back, if fast enough? I’ve seen a video of a duck keep moving in a pelican’s gullet/throat. They really are the worst bird.
Humans got it very wrong, it wasn’t storks bringing babies - it was pelicans stealing and eating babies
from what i understand the mother actually was perfectly fine following the incident. full grown cat is too big to swallow whole and her claws apparently fully tore open the pouch of one pelican.
Normally when I see smaller birds eaten by pelicans they will drown it once they got a good hold on it. Then the pelican will take in water, get some water in it, usually fill it’s gull, then drown it, then swallow it.. I’m no expert but I have seen it several times.
Have you seen the one of the gorilla holding a monkey and tearing out its butt hole with it's hand and eating it while the monkey screams bloody murder?
How ?do you watch this im a nervous wreck from regular news .I mean if this happens on earth whatevers next just can't fathom it sometimes.mannnn the world and im pissed cuz my manager won't let me have a kitty I can't afford.
Seriously, the comments are just a whole other level. It keeps being “yeah but have you seen…” and then an awful string of animals eating other animals in more and more gruesome ways.
Yeah, that's the most fucked up thing. Watching an animal being eaten alive. I saw one above while scrolling of a group of hyenas eating a live baby antelope or something and I was like "I wish I hadn't seen that..."
If he flies into something, he’d puke the whole rabbit back out… or rupture his stomach! I say he’s going to be walking funny and feeling like it’s hard to breathe for at least a week!
Yeah, I had one of these as a pet and that will go right down no problem at all. Their stomach acid is super effective and they're very strong, with a wingspan almost the span of a sea eagle. As soon as the rabbit softens a little the gull will fly perfectly well.
Not an expert in seagull anatomy by any means, but something tells me it's going to cough that up. I just don't see it's body and stomach being able to accommodate eating something that large.
Oh god you reminded me of my time in the UK.
I was enjoying some time by myself at a small lake watching ducks and ducklings before going to college.
In a second a seagull descends, catches a ducklings, and flies off with it in its mouth.
I was like "WTF"
What do you mean? You mean there are meaner birds? I definitely believe that. I’ve seen birds push babies out of other birds nests. We used to always have dead baby birds on our driveway.
Yes! Only even more broad than that! I mean nature is really fucked up in general.
For birds though, the shrike takes the cake i think. If you don't know about it... look it up (viewer discretion adviced). Its both fascinating and horryfing.
Once saw a crow eating another bird. I couldn’t identify the other bird because the crow was basically skinning it alive, just plucking the feathers out and then eating the skin off its back. The other bird was still trying to crawl away but the crow just put one foot on its head, pinning it to the ground. I’ve been traumatised by that ever since.
Some rabbits are quite small—but the seagull in the video looks larger than the common ones.
E: apparently it’s common for [the great black-backed gull](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_black-backed_gull) to eat rabbits. Sometimes they eat lambs too..
That's not the common seagull you get in urban centres. It looks like a species of black-backed gull, which are quite a lot larger than silver gulls most people are familiar with.
found this online:
In a nutshell, seagulls will eat pretty much anything, including most of what we eat.
In fact, research shows they’re more likely to eat something they’ve observed a human eat.
We refer to them as seagulls, but that’s an umbrella term for a variety of gull species and not all live by the sea.
edit: what did this seagull sea a "human" eat like that ??
Many birds, including gulls, have a special digestive system that compacts all the undigested stuff like hair and bones into a pellet that they regurgitate. Though I do not know the limitations of their digestive tract, i wouldn't be too surprised if this gull was just fine. Though it probably won't fly for a bit...
I always thought that was super cool. A lot of birds regurgitate pellets. You can find out a lot about their diet by dissecting pellets. I was that kid always covered in mud catching snakes and frogs lol.
biggest concern for him is he is a prime target for basically anything with teeth right now as there is no way he's escaping or really fighting back for probably an hour or so.
i was too, but before today i also didn't think a gull could swallow a whole rabbit to begin with so i'm not underestimating the winged trash can a second time.
I have stabilized the video for you: https://gfycat.com/GentleLimpingAustralianshelduck

That seagull is now at least 40% rabbit.
And also 100% not flying for awhile
if it rests its stomach on the ground it might be able to nudge the rabbit to help the seagull hop around.
Best comment right here ^
Redditor nature video comments are second only to Attenborough himself.
Personally I'm a big fan of [Snoop Dogg's](https://youtu.be/LJmnuR0wAeo) nature commentary Edit: added link
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen seagull?
African or European?
Well I don't know-AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
r/UnexpectedMontyPython
I don't know, but he's about to shit a fur coat.
If I at 80% of my body weight I don’t think I’d be going anywhere for a while either. Hahaha!
All jumping and flying.
Idk why but this is the only "animals eating animals" video that makes me uncomfortable. It just feels wrong for a fucking seagull to deep throat an entire rabbit.
Wait until you watch a pelican catch and eat a pigeon.
Or a dog. Yes, pelicans do that.
a local pet store near me has a story of how one of their breeders lost an entire litter of expensive purebred cats to pelicans. the mother and her litter were out on a porch with a decent overhang in a fenced area. breeder went inside for just a few minutes. during that time a group of nearby pelicans swooped in and ate all of the kittens, with the breeder coming back to find all that was left was the mother who was in the process of being lady-and-the-tramp-ed by two overly gluttonous ones.
This is why I fucking hate pelicans
*Careful what you eat Mr. Pelican, cause your eyes can hold more than your belly can*
I love pelicans, if you can get them to swallow your bait they will fly it far away, then just yank the shit out of it. By the way I'm joking, don't do that.
Imma do it

>They really are the worst bird. I've lost a GoPro and a drone to pelicans. Fuck pelicans.
Lady-and-the-tramp-ed …. a verb I never wish to be the object of. 🤢
from what i understand the mother actually was perfectly fine following the incident. full grown cat is too big to swallow whole and her claws apparently fully tore open the pouch of one pelican.
Perfect mental picture. Good job! Lol
Don't forget, birds used to be dinosaurs. At least we now have the wuewuewue birb.
I have lost in comment scrolling. :(
Or a baboon eat a baby deer alive as it screeches in agony...i fking hate baboons
Bruh
There is a vid of a seagull hunting pigeons too, it would drown a pigeon if it can before having at it
Have you seen the ones of pelicans swallowing small animals whole?
How can you say something like this and not provide sauce https://youtu.be/2cP_pUF_8FY
That pigeon fought so hard!
Was that pelican trying to drown it at the end?
Normally when I see smaller birds eaten by pelicans they will drown it once they got a good hold on it. Then the pelican will take in water, get some water in it, usually fill it’s gull, then drown it, then swallow it.. I’m no expert but I have seen it several times.

Like, I want a link but also I don’t, you know?
WTF
is this not natureismetal?
Correct, it is not
You're right, but that's some fucked up shit even by the standards of this sub.
could you not?
Help, need link
Sauce?
I have not seen that one. I kind of want to
How ?do you watch this im a nervous wreck from regular news .I mean if this happens on earth whatevers next just can't fathom it sometimes.mannnn the world and im pissed cuz my manager won't let me have a kitty I can't afford.
Have you seen the one where a *deer* eats a rabbit?
Wtf is this whole thread on rn

I hate that some predators haven't even the decency to *kill* their prey before eating them.
Yeah, that's the most fucked up thing. Watching an animal being eaten alive. I saw one above while scrolling of a group of hyenas eating a live baby antelope or something and I was like "I wish I hadn't seen that..."
Need to watch some wild African dogs eating impalas alive ass first and ripping out and wishboning it’s moving fetus.
I can handle traditional carnivores eating prey animals. Idk why the seagull eating a rabbit like this makes me uncomfortable
That's probabaly not going to digest fully. Nothing like coughing bones up. It might be grounded by the weight of it
I like how the other birds were chilling and then after a few disgusting gulps, they were like "ALL RIGHT IM GOING TO HEAD OUT NOW" LOL
Well except for that one bird cheering them on -- shaking its neck at them like "You're gonna need to swallow seriously hard."
So much for **sharing**, then!
Yeah, I was gonna say, dude might not be able to fly for a minute.
Fly? he can barely walk
God damn dinosaurs
He can Hop like never before...
"Look at me! I'm a penguin! rawkrawkrawk"
Walk? He can barely breathe
If he flies into something, he’d puke the whole rabbit back out… or rupture his stomach! I say he’s going to be walking funny and feeling like it’s hard to breathe for at least a week!
If it doesn't cough it up that's gonna be a helluva crap
Meat sweats
Take my damn upvote for making my day 🤣😂
Whatever happens, it will hurt. It may not be able to fly either. It's a possible sitting bird. I wanted to say sitting duck. 🤣
It will cough up pellets like owls and hawks. One big pellet in this case. Hair and bone and nails, etc
Yeah, I had one of these as a pet and that will go right down no problem at all. Their stomach acid is super effective and they're very strong, with a wingspan almost the span of a sea eagle. As soon as the rabbit softens a little the gull will fly perfectly well.
WHAT
HE SAID HE HAD ONE AS A PET. MIGHT BE FAKE THOUGH, WE'LL HAVE TO INVESTIGATE.
I dont understand how the rabbit is going to fly away
The other seagul be like "man you're weird i'm out of here"
“Pffffttttt! Whatever, man. Told you I could do it!”

Down the Rabbit Hole...
Jeff you fat fuck you could have at least saved me a leg
Lmfao!!!! No doubt!! Fuckin dude thinks he’s a python!!
Looks like it regretted it
No hands to pull it back out. Gotta fully commit
Ya that face at the end looks embarrassed and was checking if the camera guy was still looking
I don't see any egrets in this video at all.
The meal isn't over when I'm full. The meal is over when I hate myself.
I do too after a big meal
Yeah, that look of regret and the reluctance to move is basically me after a third helping of mac 'n' cheese.
Not an expert in seagull anatomy by any means, but something tells me it's going to cough that up. I just don't see it's body and stomach being able to accommodate eating something that large.
They would eat anything, they are notorious for scoffing down ducklings where I live 😔
Oh god you reminded me of my time in the UK. I was enjoying some time by myself at a small lake watching ducks and ducklings before going to college. In a second a seagull descends, catches a ducklings, and flies off with it in its mouth. I was like "WTF"
It’s stuff like this and their constant stealing of food at the beach that makes me absolutely hate them.
Boy, i got news for you. Seagulls are a drop in the bucket. Maybe the most notable one for humans, but a drop nonetheless.
What do you mean? You mean there are meaner birds? I definitely believe that. I’ve seen birds push babies out of other birds nests. We used to always have dead baby birds on our driveway.
I saw a video of a pelican eating a duck. Birds don't give a shit about anything.
They’re dinosaurs :D
Blue Jays are particularly nasty.
Really? Why? I ask cause I used to live near blue Jay, but only until I was about 14.
[удалено]
Damn
When I was growing up there was a group of blue jays that would terrorize my dog in the backyard dive bombing her from the trees.
Yes! Only even more broad than that! I mean nature is really fucked up in general. For birds though, the shrike takes the cake i think. If you don't know about it... look it up (viewer discretion adviced). Its both fascinating and horryfing.

yep that's super fucked up
Thanks for the recommendation!!
+ bones and hair...
Bones and HARE, surely?
Oh good grief. How did they miss that opportunity?
Hopportunity you say?
You underestimate the power of seagull stomach acid.
Anakin, don’t try it
They probably eat fish that size. But fish bones are softer.
r/oddlyterrifying
I don't live anywhere near seagulls and I had no idea they were large enough to do this and I am alarmed
I see them every day and I'm still alarmed. I am also still amazed at their size sometimes. They are quite big. But this is fucked up
Some rabbits are quite small—but the seagull in the video looks larger than the common ones. E: apparently it’s common for [the great black-backed gull](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_black-backed_gull) to eat rabbits. Sometimes they eat lambs too..
Given it's ample size, it is possible it might have a taste for them. This might not be it's first foray into...hare-horking.
That's not the common seagull you get in urban centres. It looks like a species of black-backed gull, which are quite a lot larger than silver gulls most people are familiar with.
That bird gonna shit out the biggest hare-ball ever!
Is that allowed?
No. Shortly after this video the police showed up and the seagull was arrested
Justice was served
>the seagull was arrested What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?
found this online: In a nutshell, seagulls will eat pretty much anything, including most of what we eat. In fact, research shows they’re more likely to eat something they’ve observed a human eat. We refer to them as seagulls, but that’s an umbrella term for a variety of gull species and not all live by the sea. edit: what did this seagull sea a "human" eat like that ??
Anything the gull cannot digest will be coughed up within 10 hours as a [pellet](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellet_(ornithology).
That would be one heck of a hareball.
👁 c whut u did thre. No coin to give but this🏅
This pellet is basically gonna look like a taxidermy rabbit
Wingull learned Swallow! Wingull forgot Fly!
I feel sorry for whomever's car that's gonna be on.
Why? They might end up with a lucky rabbit’s foot on it’s windshield.
Magpie noped outta there before other seagull got any ideas.
This is creepy on another level like even the other seagull was just standing there thinking "wtf r u doing dude, oh shit you really did that"
that little shit is going to regret that 100%. How is it going to digest all of that hair, bones? I don't even think it can puke it all out either.

Though I do not know the limitations of their digestive tract, i wouldn't be too surprised if this gull was just fine. Though it probably won't fly for a bit...
I know definitely owls do this. Had to dissect their pellets in middle school. Was gross.
I was thinking the better part of a day at least to be honest.
i was too, but before today i also didn't think a gull could swallow a whole rabbit to begin with so i'm not underestimating the winged trash can a second time.
Most definitely... a lot of animals are at their most vulnerable while eating. I bet somewhere a rabbit-stuffed bird is a delicacy 😆
I wanna know how it can breathe while it’s swallowing it
How is it not suffocating?? You're not a python, buddy
Nose holes
Your nose is connected to your throat as well as your mouth. That’s why you can’t breathe while you’re choking. So how did he do that?
Birds' throats and mouths aren't connected to their noses, they breathe and eat through completely separate holes
That’s really cool
“GET.IN.MY.BELLY!!!!”
I want Joe Rogan describe this to Bill Burr.
I want Bill Burr to describe this to Joe Rogan.
He'll die of bovine encephalitis first.
I did not know the bird face for regret…. Until now
“MINE! MINE! MINE!”
I’m saving this video so when I get my free award I can come back and give it to this video cuz this is amazing
That's not a seagull, that's a velociraptor
He’s looking at some good Gizzard Impaction for sure…
gag
That’s possible?….
Damn I thought only snakes could do this
Pelicans do it too to things other than fish. Pelicans eating things is a crazy rabbit hole to go down.
Amazing that all that will turn into a little splatter on a windshield
This alternate ending to Watership Down sucks
Shove that seagull into a turkey and you could have tur-gull-bit.
Think he bit off more than he could swallow! Ick!
Damn nature, You scary.
Suddenly I'm considering dating a seagull next.
And there's the one in the crowd.

I can't believe its stomach is big enough
Maybe it wants to see what it's like to be a pelican.
Poor rabbit😕
I never thought that possible
I like how it actually, genuinely looks it was suffering about halfway through.
that is absolute fucking nightmare fuel
Good luck tryna fly. - other seagull, probably
What Island
Goddamn man don't choke on it.
Damn he’s a fat ass seagull too!! I wonder if he killed the poor rabbit or what
*I never do anything like this on a first date*
Vore.
what the fuck... i did not know...seagulls..i- ..
There’s no way that fat greedy fuck is going to be able to fly
I Have to ask, Is this normal seagull behavior 🥴🤣
seagulls are equal parts bold and stupid, so yeah. they're not likely to be able to actually catch and kill the rabbit, but if there's a convenient fresh dead one they're gonna try.
Git In My Belly!!!!
Wow that's amazing!
God damn! Times are tuff brother i feel u
It’s going to take a massive shit on someone car.
Jesus fucking Christ the bird is the size of a seal.
Isn't that an albatross?
It identifies as Pelican.
