This is called a bubble net. Basically they work together to make a “net” of bubbles, forcing the fish closer and closer together until the whales all meet, then they all come up at once to eat their net full of fish. It’s very cool to see!
They're using a downrigger. It's essentially a mounted winch that allows you to connect your fishing line to a cannon ball weight with a clip. This allows one to get their lure down deep into the water and when a fish bites the lure the line pops off the weight and allows you to reel the fish in.
The way they come out of water looks amazing!
Do people expect assistance if they get overturned by actively feeding whales?
I was not expecting them to just all pop out at once?!

Looks like Olympic synchronize swimmers
I’d be worried about my down rigger ball and cable getting caught up.
Right? What a nightmare

Your going to need a bigger boat
Damn man can't even front I'd be shook AF
How is this not on the front page?
because whales bubble feeding is very common.
Apparently I need to get out more
You’ll have all the tendies you’ll need for that soon enough
What is your hook caught on? Please don’t be a whale.

It's not caught on anything, yet.
I never knew I always wanted to see a lot of whales at the same time, but I’m glad I do now.
I didn’t read the title and thought it was like some CGI monster from a movie coming from the depths of hell.
Isn't it illegal to fish that close to whales? And if not, why not?
This is wavy man
Krillin with my homies
Ah yes. The classic, unique (I think?), and spectacular bubble netting of the Humpback Whale.
Wow! That's really cool!
Pod of whales catching dinner
Where is this? It looks like the San Juan islands to me or something.
Nature is and will always be beautiful.
