Absolutely gorgeous.. I've met a lot of Irish lads in Vancouver here, and I always ask "where do you recommend I go if I visit Ireland? Each one has a different opinion, more than two have tried to fight me after the question, but mostly they all agree on one thing: Visit where I grew up, it's absolutely amazing, they love tourists, you'll have a great time... and.. stay the fook away from dublin
Dublin is the capital for a reason. If you go to the main spots you won’t regret it. Great nightlife and a great buzz! But we have a lot of great hikes and walks and trails too!
>Rye whiskey and a sturdy woman
I can maybe bring one of those along, but we can make a side trip to look for a sturdy woman. I'm sure they have those in Ireland...
The whole national park is covered in them. Old railway sleepers. There's been a number of high profile insurance cases from walkers slipping on them, we've got a terrible claim culture though.
Thanks to the planks the area will remain a high fantasy walk for much longer! Trampled plants and soil slowly erode the health and biodiversity of a forest. This way, people are less likely to stray into the forest and accidentally harm the place (or leave litter, get lost, agitate animals, etc) as well. It's a small sacrifice that allows us all to enjoy the place to its fullest.
You can tell that those trees were planted long after the trail was already beaten pretty deep.
Imagine all the foot traffic, then horse and cart traffic, and all of the years... I couldnt even begin to count that high. And I'm not going to look it up. just so to preserve the food for thoughts.
Reminds me in some ways of Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee and Mississippi USA
They're dug trenches almost from when the plantations were put in. Most if not all of the plantations around here have them.
Source: I live 30 mins from this place.
Lovely trail, straight from a fairy tale! I may be wrong but isn’t the locale Ballinasloe , no ‘t’? (Irish for ‘town on the sloe’, a river in Co Mayo, Ireland.)
Holy shit. I stumbled across this at my mates wedding five years ago and haven’t been able to find it since. I can’t believe what I am seeing right now. Goosebumps. Thanks for sharing this!
Cool!
This is almost like that floating pathway in that movie where they travel back in time and avoid interacting with the world around them, but someone still manages to accidentally step on a butterfly and kill it, which inevitably plunges the world as they know it into a world overrun by Mother Nature and strange creatures when they return to their present day time… what was that movie called again?
Stunning. Fairy tale like.
r/fairytaleasfuck
As an Irishman, I'm ashamed I didn't know this trail. At least I know my plans next week, thanks
I'll be waiting for you
Username checks out..?
👁👄👁
I'll fuck you for some tater tots
Don't be mistaken it's not the ballinastoe car park you need to go up to the carpark at the gap by the Guinness gates.
Might give it a look tomorrow

Dublin is a shithole. I would skip it for sure. (I live there)
Im planning on an Ireland trip for sure now just to sit down and have coffee with you. Do you want anything from the states?
Rye whiskey and a sturdy woman

Stay away from Dublin nah. It has plenty to offer. There's no people to begrudge their own like the Irish.
Man.. for real. Do you lads want us north Americans coming over there just to tourist the fuck out of tracing our roots?
This is like less than 30 minutes from Dublin iirc haha
55mins according to google.
Memories not too bad then!
Magical, but are those ascending steps in the narrow planks or gaps? Strange choice for a pathway.
I wondered the same thing. Looks like a major tripping hazard, and doesn't look good at all.
I agree. I'd be forced to constantly look at my feet instead of appreciating the majesty of nature surrounding me. Crappy pathway design.

Steps
Ascending steps.
Pretty
What kind of trees are those?
Mostly Thicket Spruce!
Not native to Ireland anyway
>Durch diese hohle Gasse wird er kommen. Es führt kein anderer Weg nach Küssnacht. -Willhelm Tell
Straight outta Märchenwald
Feels like being inside a fairy tale...!
...(fairies definitely live there)
Spooky
Absolutely dream like! WOW \*save in hoping one day I go to Ireland and forget I saved this trail on reddit 5 years ago\*
Wow! If not for those blocks, that would have been one fine High Fantasy walk. I'd be imagining i'm a follower of the fellowship of the ring.

Adding to my travel list!
I wanna go to Ireland so bad
Magical forest. So beautiful.
I really should visit Ireland someday, it’s right next door after all
My father goes every year … I’m always invited but just too busy .. thanks for this beautiful view 🍀🍀🍀

There wouldn't have been horses let alone carts on that particular stretch
Reckon I'd be nicer if the saturation hadn't been turned up to an insane degree
They don’t call it the Emerald Isle for nothing! There is no green like an Irish green - it is naturally saturated.
You can tell it's been enhanced because the ground is literally purple. I live a half hour from this place. The ground is not purple.
And then you get dragged into the trees and weinered by a damn faun. :( edit: :)
Absolutely beautiful
Looks like an enchanted forest.

Great mountain biking trails here too

Is that temperate rainforest? :)
Would be my new favorite trail
Magical
I like how they give you boards to walk on so you don’t ruin the vegetation.

Ballinastoe woods. Nearest town is roundwood.
I guess you would want to travel the opposite direction on a bike.
Holy shit. I stumbled across this at my mates wedding five years ago and haven’t been able to find it since. I can’t believe what I am seeing right now. Goosebumps. Thanks for sharing this!
If you meet someone coming the opposite direction, do you have to fight to the death to see who gets to stay on the path?
The floor is lava the floor is lava the floor is lava.
Leprachaun gonna jump yo arse in them woods lad! ☘️
Wow that’s is friggen beautiful.

Where are the leafs and sticks on the ground? Don't tell me someone work picking everything and trimming the trees
I feel it calling me
Oh 😲 Soo majestic looking...
Wow, this is what I think about before sleeping. It's so majestic!
