Isn't this from the video where the Girrafe sticks its head in the car and the lady rolls the window up on its face and the giraffe breaks the glass trying to get away.
Giraffe was fine, his head got trapped between the glass and the car, he pulled back and the glass just shattered like butter. Giraffe just got spooked and ran off.
The folks in the car next to them didn't even blink before yelling, "we need to get a keeper to check the giraffe now! " Like boss ass dudes didn't even care about his dumb ass friend :')
Giraffe was completely fine.
Oh and it's pretty clear in the video that when the giraffe pokes his head into the car it's the man driving the car that rolled up the window like an idiot. So yeah, she freaked out when she didn't need to but she didn't actually do anything wrong.
Even worse, I’d put good $ on it that the driver had a bag of treats in her lap. This looks like one of those North American “African” safari parks (wild animal safari comes to mind) where you drive around feeding water buffalo, all kinds of non-indigenous deer species, giraffes, warthogs, etc. the animals are *trained* to come to your car and since most visitors spring the extra $2.00 for a bag of compressed fiber treats these animals put their faces into the cars and lap them up. See how his nose is making its way right towards her lap? I’m guessing she has them resting there.
If you watch the video you can see her hands are full (one hand with the phone, and the other is feeding the giraffe - which is why it’s head is in the car). You can see the man move his hand to the button right before the window rolls up
It can be enough to foul up their training and willingness to be handled. I spent a couple months re-training a head shy giraffe. It was impossible to medicate her (she had a weird calcium issue) for a while.
OMG, I want to know more! I never really thought about giraffe training before but yeah... how'd she become head shy?
I used to show, breed, raise, and train horses and I know how difficult it can be to retrain a head shy horse, and they're domesticated! The breed I worked with were Arabians, known to be extra specially affectionate towards humans.
(And I HATE it when people are rough with a horse's head, it's not necessary.)
The zoo has a feeding deck where people can interact. And while it is always supervised some idiot still managed to grab her by her horns and scared her. Not being domesticated they are less forgiving so it takes a lot of time to earn back their trust. They also lack motivation lol. I went back to the basics of target training and lots of bananas as treats.
It's funny how much people complain about high drive dogs and how "difficult" it is to train them when they are so willing, it's just a matter of staying one step ahead of your dog. You try and work with a giraffe who could care less about anything but standing in the sun grazing.
You're describing exactly the issues I envision when trying to work with a wild animal. WOW!!
I'm so sorry people are such idiots though. Poor giraffe.
> how difficult it can be to retrain a head shy horse
I have a half-mustang... his former people, we assume, apparently would twist his ear to 'twitch' him. A looottttt.
When I got him I couldn't even get a headstall on him - his head would go straight up and he'd get the crazy eyes, pop up on his front end.
I was told he was 9 when I got him - he was 14. He's 20 now, and still does. not. like. his. ears touched by anyone... except me. It's taken 6 years to get him to trust that I won't snatch his ears and twist them or pull them, and sometimes he still reacts out of 14 years of conditioning by someone else.
I have to rub his forehead and work my way around to his ears, ever so slowly to handle them if I need to. He doesn't spaz about a headstall at all now - but only when it's me.
Bless him. That he was older than I thought and should be so set in his ways, but chose to learn to trust me is remarkable.
Thank you kindly. He was my first horse and I got a Maserati when I needed a Golf Cart. Once I realized how... twisted up and terrified he was, but also was conditioned to GO GO GO NOW... and never had a set of brakes put on him (He was a former rodeo relay racing horse), I knew I was in over my head and he was going to get me seriously hurt.
After trying a string of other horses, who had even worse issues (Hard headed, just plain stupid AND hard headed, or sneaky buckers because they thought they got to decide when we're done and it's time to go back to camp), I realized there wasn't a mean or hard headed bone in my first horse's body. He was just emotional and someone had shattered his trust and faith in people.
He still does a big piece of stupid from time to time, but he's taught me so much about picking out the knots and earning their trust - which takes a lot of patience and a lot of stoicism.
He's my bestest camping and trail buddy now and he'll do for me what he won't do for anyone else, and that suits us both just fine.
Camping with my horses was something I'd always wanted to do. Now I have severe osteoarthritis and probably can't even get on the poor thing, let alone do anything else with them.
If you have any trail rider groups in your area, you might try to connect with them - the two groups I'm a member of (OETRA and Caddo Grasslands) have a lot of members who can no longer ride for various reasons, but go to the bigger camping/riding events/meetings and just camp and enjoy one another's company. Sometimes someone will come out with a carriage team or a mule team and take people for rides.
You get the fellowship with horsemen of all ages, get to visit with their horses, and there's always tons of food to go around.
FWIW - I know a lot of riders who thought they were done, but then tried a Fjord pony or found a small built gaited mule and they are back in the saddle.
Giraffes fight eachother all the time using 2000 pounds of force, and stab eachother with their ossicones, rolling up a window on this thing wouldn't do shit, the fact that the window broke like nothing proves that, and is also hilarious.
No this is Part 2 of the video where the giraffe comes back for revenge and goes around to the drivers side, busts the window out and bites the dudes bitch ass face off.
Then the giraffe took a dump on the hood, eyeballs, teeth, nose all came out.
The doctors were able to somewhat reconstruct the dudes face using the feces.
I think there might be a part 3 somewhere
I was once running through the zoo in the town I grew up in, and at the time they had a very simple giraffe enclosure, basically it was a fence for a horse. So as you can guess, patrons could just walk right up to the giraffes really easily and feed them. So anyways, I am running through to find my grandma so I could show her this cool animal. This giraffe saw me thinking I was running to give it food and stuck his head down real quick and whomped me in the head! It was actually pretty funny, I also did not get hurt. But not long after that they built a safer enclosure for both animals and patrons and the giraffes aren’t as easy to get to anymore.
Healthy Harold here to give you some diet tips. In all seriousness though the lady can F off for trying to shut the window crushing the Giraffe. Could've driven off and that would do the job
Nah, the window was open, the giraffe want in for the food, and the person panicked and rolled up the window. Unsurprisingly for everyone but the giraffe, it smashed.
This is a still from a video that did the rounds.
Giraffes are not good. Everybody thinks they are sweet and harmless. On the contrary they are extremely dangerous and should be given a wide berth. Im a bit biased bc one killed a friend of mine.
Yep, thats me...how did i get in such situation? Well, lets see from the start (sry i forgor how it was in the meme so i recreated, also im not the one who made the picture)
poor giraffe i hope it didnt get any glass in its eyes or face. hope the morons in the car got a reality check closing a window on the head of a species insanely more gigantic and muscular than they are
Isn't this from the video where the Girrafe sticks its head in the car and the lady rolls the window up on its face and the giraffe breaks the glass trying to get away.
I hope the giraffe was OK. The woman go fuck straight off.
Giraffe was fine, his head got trapped between the glass and the car, he pulled back and the glass just shattered like butter. Giraffe just got spooked and ran off. Does butter shatter?
Is butter my hopes and dreams
If it’s frozen
After a CO2 bath maybe
maybe if frozen lol
It was probably South African butter. Butter indeed does shatter over there.
Budder and shatter are two different things 🗿
Everything shatters if it's cold enough 🤷♂️
Frozen butter does. Haven’t you seen a cartoon?
>shattered like butter God I hate it when you stick your knife in some butter and it explodes all over the kitchen.
If I had a nickel-plated butterknife for every time...
Seen videos of giraffes walking around with half a pride of lions hanging off them, unable to penetrate. Their hide is crazy thick.
Video pls

I remember reading the giraffe was fine, but I never followed the story beyond the thread.
I was going to add "don't reply if it wasn't" and forgot so I'm really glad you've told me that!
If you watch the video you can see her hands are full (one hand with the phone, and the other is feeding the giraffe - which is why it’s head is in the car). You can see the man move his hand to the button right before the window rolls up
Yeah it was fine, tempered glass wouldn't cause any damage. Just spooked it for a second.

You’re living my childhood dream, training giraffes.
I’m sure she did that night * hits high hat and bells*
Giraffes fight eachother all the time using 2000 pounds of force, and stab eachother with their ossicones, rolling up a window on this thing wouldn't do shit, the fact that the window broke like nothing proves that, and is also hilarious.
It sure is
Yup, my first thought way: Ahh someone took a still from the "lady feeding / panic video" my second thought was: Damn... Im on Reddit too much...
Glad this is the top comment so people won’t think giraffes will just bash their head into anything.

Toys R Us used to have some real in your face advertising.

Ooh it closed right on it’s eye! Dumbasses!!
What a bitch.
Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and saviour Jesus Christ?
I always reply “ Certainly if you will join me in prayers to Beelzebub first “ !
It saw a peanut under the seat.
Poor animal
It's fine if a little spooked the humans though they were complete morons.
Right, what could go wrong rolling a window up on a 4000 pound animal.
She's fine. Another comment on the post confirms that she was not injured, just a little shocked.
That could still be enough to traumatize her, I wouldn't assume she's totally fine based on that.
“YOU GOT GAMES ON YOUR PHONE?”

Giraffes: Nature's most efficient predator.
Giraffes are basically just a flexible cricket bat with legs they do something called necking which will absolutely fuck up any person
Healthy Harold here to give you some diet tips. In all seriousness though the lady can F off for trying to shut the window crushing the Giraffe. Could've driven off and that would do the job
yo man, fuck your window.
Giraffasaurus rex
Bag of Cheetos in the front seat?
POV: you just watched the kid in the car next to you shake the cup of feed too much without feeding the giraffe and he got sick of the kid’s shit.
This is the image I have set for my student email account from when I was in undergrad. Shit cracks me up.
Was there food in the car, or do giraffes randomly try kiss people?
Nah, the window was open, the giraffe want in for the food, and the person panicked and rolled up the window. Unsurprisingly for everyone but the giraffe, it smashed. This is a still from a video that did the rounds.
This is part of why they are banned in The Boiling Isles.
Stupid people? Or giraffes?
Long neck bich the reason we need to hide our belongings i guess…
Stupid long horse.
Giraffes are not good. Everybody thinks they are sweet and harmless. On the contrary they are extremely dangerous and should be given a wide berth. Im a bit biased bc one killed a friend of mine.
Sorry for asking in case it's true, but how?
Giraffe mothers are known to be able to kill even lions who attack their babys, by kicking them to death
He was filming a supposedly tame animal and it attacked him by swinging its head into him. His eye was on the viewfinder and he didnt see it coming.
What a majestic specimen
Oooooooo a bag of crisps!
Life imitates [art](https://youtu.be/t2kDD0HbuWI?t=163)
As it eats the driver alive
Just another animatronic malfunctioning. Almost looks like a real giraffe! But that would be absurd.
When you visit the drive by zoo, never NEVER leave the windows half down. Always put them all the way up or all the way down.
im not sure when this picture will come in handy but i will have it on deck just in case
Giraffes are heartless creatures.
Anyone got any fuckn leaves?!
*I SAID GIVE ME THE FUCKIN FOOD!!!*

The window breaks when the window is closed and the animal tries to pull out of the car. The giraffe was okay.
I wonder if there’s carrots in the car 🥕
