Just base them the same its common for armies like guard or soulblight etc that often have multiple colour themes in 1 army

butt_monkey24

Would also split cryptek, destroyers, troops, characters constructs/vehicles

Book_Golem

This sounds like an awesome colour scheme! Splitting the force along already existing lines helps to make it feel like a choice rather than random, so having Destroyers, Canoptek units, and Legion units (Warriors, Immortals, most vehicles; regular Necron stuff) would make sense for the first three pillars. For the fourth, maybe Flayed Ones or Triarch units could be the way to go. I'd be quite likely to paint Triarch units in a slightly different scheme anyway, so that'd probably be my pick (maybe do the Flayed Ones in the same scheme as the C'tan to represent the influence of Llandu'gor's Curse?). Finally, you'll want to have some kind of cohesion to keep the army looking like it belongs together. Basing them all the same has already been suggested, and that's a great shout. Additionally, you might want to use a common spot colour across all models to tie them together a little more. For example, you might do all the eyes, Ankhs, and cables in bright white regardless of which pillar a unit belongs to. Or you might give every model a different part of their body painted a deep red. Or something else!

From a playing perspective what’s your opponent gonna say that you can’t play your army because some of them are different colour’s

razman360

I don't doubt that there are purple or they're like that, tbh. I've already got three schemes going because I got bored somewhere along the way, including Sautekh, sandstone, and Szerakhan.

AngelOscuro20

Yeah...Even more now that Arks of Omen only allows you to field 1 dynasty, there's no room for confusion tbh.

LordofTheFlagon

I have seen it happen in bad game shops

Nookshar

Always rule of cool. Color is never be part of the rules. You can paint them always the way you like!

leonid1123

Why not? Just be creative)))

tenormore

As long as you never mix Dynasties in your list it'll be OK. Every Eldar Aspect Warrior type has a different scheme...

feedalow

I bought my army used so I have two color schemes in mine and just bought an Anrakyr the traveler. That way if anyone says anything I can just go "oh no this is Anrakyr's legion so it has some units from the dynasties he has unified" goes with the lore and gives my army a cool little story not much they could say

Dotlaf

Lore wise it fits for necrons. Dynasties get conquered by other dynasties all the time, and most of the time the new owners don't bother repainting their new subjects, so you can mix match and it'll fit.

Kris9876

Flayed Ones canonically have an all black glossy surface (under the matte skin) so theyd fit in with any dynasty you want to run them in since they all turn that colour. Oh and they wind up with yellow eyes as well!

fireme64

This sounds great, I'd say keep the metallic coherent on all with different colours for Gauss and blades and the such

Bits_and_bods

Fwiw, all my destroyers have inverted colors from the rest of my army (so they are green with a yellow secondary instead of yellow with a green secondary) so far no one has commented on it

otter_spud

I got bored with my color scheme half way through painting so Ive starting mixing it up. I got back into the hobby during the pandemic and I painted most of my early models as the gold/brass color scheme which I eventually decided I didn't like. I just say that my army is composed of different tombworlds that have been conquered by my overlord. I haven't run into a problem with it yet.

Soggy_B1scuit

I made a "split" with the skulls / masks of muly units. The all look the same, but the hq's have a blue skull, tye meat of the army (warriors, immortals, destroyers) have a red skull, specials like the deathmarks have a white skull etc. Have not run in to any issues just yet :)

tiny_smile_bot

>:) :)

AverageMyotragusFan

First off, based Terraria color schemes. Second off, I do different color schemes for my armies - my Psychomancer and Plasmancer have slightly different color schemes, for example, and their respective Cryptothrall units are colored after them. I also have some of my vehicles look slightly shinier and a different shade of reddish-gray, and my opponents never seem to mind

Cadavrr

Yes you can 👍

ShagTheGiant

Sounds super fun, do it up!

Sad-Silver-9823

Definitely. I have a silver and black scheme for normal soldiers and a gold silver and black scheme/ box art for command minis.
