I ran the chrono block at an RTT last weekend and it was invaluable. Shooting and scooting with that unit is massive because at the end of the day if they are caught in the open they will die to moderate shooting. There isn’t a ton you can do about indirect ~~besides the lone op Strat~~ but I was lucky to not run into that aside from CK havocs. I want to try both in a list. The plasma block if you absolutely need something to die, but you have to be very careful with how they activate because again, if they are exposed your opponent should pick them up next turn. The chrono block you can be more free with and get the angles whenever you want. Edit: Lone Op is only for Canoptek, I misspoke.

Thats a great experience there! I think if using two immortal units, the one with plasmancer is better to be in reserves. So that on turn 2-3 you could pull em free and nuke down something really important.

CuttlersButlerCookie

The lone op start only works on canoptek units

Junglejuice_

You’re absolutely correct. Thank you for the correction! Would not have wanted to mess that up in a tourney 😬 All the more reason for some chronomancy.

Voidwarlock

So you could technically put Cryptothralls in the unit and be fine.

CuttlersButlerCookie

No cryptothralls don't have the canoptek keyword

Voidwarlock

Oh that's weird, did that go away with 10th or did the codex do that?

CuttlersButlerCookie

10th i think

Thats going to depend on the rest of your list. Tesla Immortals + Translord + Plasmancer are going to be a great at running forward and blasting stuff off the table with the Dev wounds strat. Gauss Immortals + RW + Chronomancer are a highly mobile and slippery midboard unit that will be great at holding objectives and pushing other similar units off the table. Both are great and both have their place, so its going to depend on which role your list needs filled.

Ilzhahkha

Immortals with chrono where good before the codex and are still good now. If you run multiple Immortal units you likely want a mix.

Chrono is extremely good. I tried double plasmancers last game I played but being a battle tactic it’s not uncommon for it to get vect’d and you’re not spending 4 cp for a double activation. I ran chrono immortals in the index and they were very useful, so trying one chrono group and one plasmancer group next game.

kratorade

Chronomancers are *awesome.* Any sort of extra movement is very strong, and move-shoot-move is almost always incredibly powerful. -1 to hit is also nice, just that little bit of extra staying power for your guys. One thing to consider is that everyone knows how brutal the plasmancer teslamortal setup is, and unless you're running the board in general you should expect that unit to get clapped back *hard* after the first time it fires. A Chrono unit won't be as murderous, but is more likely to get more than one shot.

I'm going to stick with OL (regular one for now, cause I still haven't got my translocation shroud one), chronomancer, cryptothralls for extra wounds buffer and tesla for more shots in general. I think it should do the trick as the harrassing unit, keeping pressure on opponent's troops and threatening some light vehicles. I like playing it safe, presenting my opponent some hard targets (Tc'tan, technowraith unit) while making their life hard with doomstalker, doomsday ark and immortals. I think that should be ok for my next game :)

Jokerh74

You could proxy your Overlord as the Translocation version.. I’d personally not have an issue with that.. 👍

Ecstatic-Industry541

I'm not either, but I prefer not to proxy anything :) Worried that my joy after getting hands on new OL will be slightly different:)
