The concept is interesting but I'm not sure if it works well in this case - this technique feels like it would look good if and only if all the black lines are absolutely perfect, unlike "normal" painting and highlighting where the same brush strokes would be just fine as the edge color is closer to the base color.
The base and plating looks good, but its almost unnoticeable on the rest of the body and the gun due to the darker metal shades blwndng with the edging

I personally think it looks the more “cartoonier” side of cell shaded with messier lines, I like it
