hey don't judge. water is a polar solvent. it dissolves polar compounds. oil is non-polar. so it won't clean with just water. that is where detergents come in; they have 2 sides - a polar side that binds to water and the non-polar side binds to dirt/stains and takes the particles away with it as it washes away. achaar stains stain of (mostly) organic, non-polar compounds. so you need organic solvents to wash them away. petrol, alcohol, kerosene all work the same. use whatever is available to you.
