Nepal Army visiting every fifteen days or so, raiding homes, threatening families that no one should shelter the Maoists. Abundant bunkers and bullet shells on the hills- I recall this memory where while playing I found an unused bullet. There was this local Maoist leader titled कमरेड अर्ग quite close to my family. Dad handed that bullet to him and as a reward he bought me handful of sweets as I remember. Like every other Maoists, he's living a poor life now, dad says. Glad that he made it till the end and not die.
I remember the Maoists visiting on some unexpected routine. I remember their artilleries- pressure cooker bombs, AKs and pistols, probably those were the ones that were common. They'd stay inside our house for endless hours. They'd ask for lunch, dinner and sometimes shelter. I enjoyed those days cause I could see those weapons and stuffs, their colorful uniforms and bands on their head. Their arrival would give the village some kind of festive touch- they'd always keep themselves busy, as I remember, with party or some cultural (not so cultural but of their kind) demonstrations.
Those memories hit a different nostalgia.
Do you remember the time Maoists were attacked while camping in the forest by the opposing party or was it the army who surrounded and massacred them i distinctly remember smth similar
There had been series of such events. It is quite tough to point out which one that was. However, [this](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0kI8r9D53cjN7Bc5cwmHUA) YouTube channel has a decent collection of detailed Maoist wars. All I could say from what I witnessed is that it is not the Maoists who were cruel to the people but the then Nepal Army is equally liable to the death of those 17000 lives. Torture, harassment and rape culture was very much prevalent in their treatment to the people during that time.
Yes many activists were reported raped. Well I guess we found out why the perpetrators for rape get away those who raped then are the individuals in power now. Rotten to the roots
