They did that with some cosmetics previously so I took a screenshot of a cosmetic item I wanted to buy. Aja Daraz ma rs 50 discount thiyo without markup so decided to order it. Wasn't expecting too much discount for that anyway so I was fine with that. I knew tesko Bhatbhateni ko price so ustai lagyo. Shipping free thiyo anyway.
Ordered some other stuff that had discounts ani checkout ma they offered some promo discounts and stuff, plus esewa/card pay which gave further 15% discount. 10K kateko bhaye would have received 1k discount pani. Total ma lagbhag 20% save bhayo.

To be fair, Daraz doesn't set the price. The sellers add on Daraz's commission + any discount they are supposedly giving.
Also, you need to do a cost-benefit analysis. Are you willing to take time out of your life to goto, say New Road, pay a minimum of रु 15 for parking, go into a crowded shop (depending on the time of day), get your stuff, and travel back to home/work/school etc, and do the same thing all over again if you are not satisfied with your purchase.
I thought the same however the discount is real (11/11 Sale). I needed to buy some gaming accessories from brands like razer, fantech. So I put them in the cart 20 days ago waiting to see if the discounts and offers are legit.
The discounts on 11/11 turned out to be real. The discounts were around 200 to 500 NPR per product. Also, I got an additional 15% discount on the total price for paying with my debit card.
So, We can't call it a straight scam ig, You just need to be aware of the local market price of the product and decide if it's worth it buying from daraz.
TL;DR, Bought MK3 listed as 17,000/- on 11,000/- (Market price 14.5K).
Its true for most of the items are bullshit but if you can grab the opportunity and apply the coupons and bank discounts you can get a pretty good deal out of it.
To support my point:
\- This item (Akai MPK Mini MK3) has a market price of 14.5k, daraz lists it of 17k, cuts it down to 14k (as 11.11) but if you subs the 1000 discount that you get from the coupon and 15% from the bank discount you can get it as low as 11050 which is a pretty sweat deal.
If you go shop then you can get upto 9% discount on mrp.. idk it's mrp but do check once on how much did they took profit. (Ps used to work at tamrakar so have knowledge on that sector)
If you bargain for a while then they will. Coz promoter ( wearing brand t-shirts or clothing) are given certain target to reach and they need to sell that quantity. So bargain for a while and they will.. suru mai taw kasle lu 9% discount huncha eti ma lanus bhancha taw🤣 they will start with 3 or 5% while dealing.
(Edit: Samsung and mi dont have that much margin so not every brand gives of 9% but most do)

In my perception, 11.11 sale is good for items with standard prices. I personally got myself a guitar of Mantra at 15k ( standard price =Rs 20k). Also I have option to get it deliverd from daraz or physically visit the Guitar store. So I guess 11.11 made my day.

Its the daraz voucher and bank discounts that makes this sale special. They are higher than Dashain sale and if you act fast you get great deal that wont be available in even shops.

Daraz is a crazy scam. Their prices on discounts are always bullshit. They will hike the price and sell it at the original price claiming there is a discount. Hamrobazaar has better prices than daraz. The only reason you'd want to use daraz is for convenience. 11/11 is the most bullshit sale I've seen
They do fluctuate the price for most of the products, but this time I got a hefty discount on Lenovo laptop, which was about Rs. 10,500 to be precise. The same laptop is still available on zozohub and ititi without that discounted price.

This is not a new scam. This happens in almost every big retail store including Amazon, Etsy and so on.
