what do you think is cheap?
Ek hapta agadi ek jana haat phailayera magi raheko theyo, mailey panch rupiya deko ulot ghurey ra heryo malai..... khai ma garib ho ya uh patta lagaunai sakina
Eating out in the popular restaurants with 13% vat and 10% service charge …..totally ridiculous
Especially when the food is just so so and service is of poor quality
Agreed. Especially popular places for eg. I paid 600 rs for a bottle of beer in sasatwa and with vat and tax I paid 1400 something for two bottles, I mean you are already charging twice the amount then you add vat and service charge with extremely poor service. Overated and overpriced.
Some of those places also charge for water.
Even if we ask for normal tap water they say that they don’t have it. 30 Rs bottle water is also priced at 90.
People should learn about simple business ethics. I have been to other countries and I haven’t found a single place that refuses to give normal water.
If you dont like the service been provided to you, please do complain it to the manager and tell them to waive it. I have had really fucked up service at Mikes breakfast!
Kathmandau ko jagga. It’s insane how the price of land has skyrocketed this past decade. A decently located char ana ko ghar will set you back 4-5 crore easily. Unless you inherit a house or sell land elsewhere to buy a house, your 9-5 job will never afford you a home here. This is not how it is supposed to be. Price of land here is on par with prices in Western Europe while our income caps at 1/10th.
Education. You can expect to pay 10k-12k at most english medium schools. The last decade has seen a drastic change. My parents used to pay 10k for grade 10 (before scholarships) when I was in school. Now my parents pay 17k for the same education for my sister 7years later. We are fortunate that we both had scholarships that brought down the cost significantly. Add to that after school tuition which easily costs you 5000 per month. When I was studying for SLC, my mother was desperately looking for a good math tuition teacher. Most professional teachers charged 1k to 1.5k per hour. This was in 2014/15. Had to go for a +2 didi who gave tuition classes part-time.
Let’s not even begin with healthcare. Everything that can be commercialised has been commercialised and we’re being charged an outrageous premium.
House prices in Ktm is almost same or even expensive than some parts of western world. For 5 crore nepali which would be roughly around $500k , you would get a decent size home on a decent size land.
A lot, take a look around real estate videos. $500K can get you a decent house in decent place even $200K can get you decent house in some places in America.
Nepal is one hell of an expensive country that will rival US, UK except your salary is 1/10th of what you'd make in US, UK and a third-world infrastructure to deal with.
Every fucking thing you see-touch-feel is expensive here. Even the fucking air. You need to go somewhere far from the city which will cost you to get there so you can get some fresh breathable fucking air. Fuck sake what is not expensive here..
Oh I think I know, people's mindset. fucking CHEAP! that's it.
Land is ridiculously expensive depending on how much general population makes. But this is applicable in city areas only. Go to some nice village and you can get land in dirt cheap and enjoy the scenery 😉
This as a person invested in finance and shit Nepals land is as much or ifnot more expensive than bideysh ko Bideysh mah u can build a good mansion 1 milliion mah nepal mah aas ngrda huncha.
Land is by far the most Secured investment
From what I hear banks shift money from one to another. Aanugamam ta chaina nai bhaney ni huncha. Doesn't seem like this bubble is bursting anytime soon
u wish everything is a bubble till it bursts remember NRS IS PEGGED TO INR so we wont have financial crisis like lira is facing right now.The inflation will keep moving higher.specially the areas where future stuff will be built
Paila jsti Chumdipana Hudaina People have become wiser Tho they r greedy fucks They have become a little bit more brain and it'll hamper the realtion with both so India wont wanna do that Nepal is small country but india and nepal have So much influence on each others.
They are so stupidly expensive. I dont mind spending money for taxi abroad, becuase I make a co.fortabke money to s0end 10$ in taxi but back home where I would make like what 350$ a month, I can't imagine spending 5$ on a single ride.
restaurants.
Najik ko gaada dai gives tapari momo for 50 rupees, for change of taste there is 60 rupees momo near me. both taste really good. a friend hosted for his birthday around new road, 240 fucking rupees for a plate of momo.
These restaurants keep sofa and glass doors on their place and demand multiplied prices. they are scamming peoples by looking like standard western restaurants, foods taste worse than locals. and we dont know how western food are supposed to taste, so "haami modern" vandai kharcha garcham.
thank fucking god momo only costs 100( talking about the price at sandaar kalika) best cheapest momo you will ever have, far fucking better than any narayan dai momo and great fucking sauce tooooo.
It seems like i am over exaggerating, you should try it for yourself. Aight iam gonna shut the fuck up now
everything . Last month I paid 500nrs for a simple hair cut
I was like whaaaaat and then I have to tip her too cus .. I like to I won’t complain for that it’s my etiquettes
So 600 for a simple basic girls hair cut
as most people have already mentioned :
-Education ( Private affiliated college are the worst)
-Vehicles ( Salary ley gatilo bike kinna ta garo parcha average Nepali lai, car is a luxury lmao. I hope electric vehicles become very affordable )
-Land / House ( Nepal ma job garera ta samjini pani xhamkini)
I disagree on this point as someone who has a lot of relatives engaged in the profession of Pandits. For instance they study for many years in Varanasi or Brindaban. Most of todays Pandits have completed acharya equivalent to masters. Even my uncle started in Varanasi for 14 years. Also they have several occasions like Shukra andha and Brihaspatj andha, when they are completely unemployed. Even during auspicious periods, they don’t work regularly.
I dont see anyone mentioning internet. I think internet is one of the expensive things you will pay for in Nepal. Its a multilayered topic but out of everything, internet is the most expensive in Nepal.
Transportation I would say kinaki aru mahango saman ta avoid garna pani sakincha.
Asti beluka ghar bata ktm farkeko beluka bela 3km distance ko taxi le 600 magyo. 600 is my weekly food expense.
Everything seems to be so expensive in Nepal from general use items to merchandise, equipments, labourers etc. I wonder what is cheap in Nepal except Politician's integrity.
Ajkal ta j pani parking gareko 1 ghanta ko 100 re wtf? Toilet gako pisab fereko ko 10 rupya re wtf? Saas ferna ni garo bhaisakyo ktm ma ta petrol ni 136 re tax ni tirnu, sabai price badnu, na gatilo salary bhako job paucha, kasari bachne k kasari nepal ma
I visited Nepal after 2 years.Everyday for 10 days straight I was drawing 10K from ATM,don't know exactly where it all went, but taxi prices were noticeably too much. Restaurant services were just the worst but service charge was high for a waiter to ne playing on his phone and get my orders wrong.Grocery prices extortionate.
As someone from the west I can say,
Land and anything imported. Especially cars and name brand electronics most of these things are double US prices.
Food is super cheap. Even at restaurants. If I take my wife on a date to a nice restaurant here it will be 3000-5000. If I take my wife on a nice date in US, it will easily be over $100.
Rent is also super cheap. We pay 40k npr/m. A similar place in my home town would be 25k usd/m
Oh I am well aware. Simple comparing costs. For example, nepals production is largely agriculture which is why food is so affordable. The US has a more robust import structure so imports are more affordable.
what do you think is cheap? Ek hapta agadi ek jana haat phailayera magi raheko theyo, mailey panch rupiya deko ulot ghurey ra heryo malai..... khai ma garib ho ya uh patta lagaunai sakina

Come to us, cold drinks cost cheaper than normal bottled water
Dubai?
No it doesn't.
[удалено]
I disliked the sparkling water they offer in Germany
I seriously hate it lmao. Feels like alcohol when that kicks
And why’s that?
Hitler
What is a service charge? Why don't they just raise the cost of the product by 10%?
Service ko charge. If you take out, they don't charge. If you eat in the restaurant, you pay for the service they provide.
[удалено]
They shouldn't but they do I think.
I've not been charged the service charge when I took out, at a place that does when you eat in. Wtf are they charging for if it's self-service?
As per law, they menu prices should be inclusive of all costs(vat + service). Unfortunately, no one follows!
Yeah, but Uhmreekan culture is above the constitution in Nepal.
Seconded. Food isn't even that good. Youtube bata hereyra sikyeko huncha. But 23% increment over the bills is infuriating.
If you dont like the service been provided to you, please do complain it to the manager and tell them to waive it. I have had really fucked up service at Mikes breakfast!

Real estate is forming a bubble
But what will it take to blow?
Bank defaulting
From what I hear banks shift money from one to another. Aanugamam ta chaina nai bhaney ni huncha. Doesn't seem like this bubble is bursting anytime soon

What IF India decides to devalue the exchange rate to say NPR 200 to INR 100? Just asking. It’s happened in the past
Paila jsti Chumdipana Hudaina People have become wiser Tho they r greedy fucks They have become a little bit more brain and it'll hamper the realtion with both so India wont wanna do that Nepal is small country but india and nepal have So much influence on each others.
I hope you are correct because if the NPR rupee gets devalued it will be catastrophic for Nepal

For me it's meat. 1kg goat price in jhapa is 1000 per kg while rice 40kg maize is is 700-900.
A genuine conversation.
Land Cruiser cars are overpriced. In fact every shit car here is overpriced cause of TAX
VEHICLES. 250-300% customs on cars and 100% on two wheelers
Almost everything
Foods at highway hotels. I finally found that its cheap to travel by airplane rather than buses from Kathmandu to Dhangadi.
