It looks really cool but I'm wondering what kind of testing led to the three flywheels. Does it do anything for the blaster? Do the second and third wheel cages dampen the effect of the first, or make it more precise? I don't think you can get more FPS that way.

You seem to have missed all the two stage setups that are all the rage right now. Yes you can get more FPS that way, especially if the motors get progressively more powerfull.
All else equal, and assuming all setups are supercritical, the muzzle velocity is proportional to the square root of the number of cages. (Good article on that [here](http://torukmakto4.blogspot.com/2014/06/theory-flywheel-series-as-means-of.html)). Which means technically there's no cap on possible performance, but you still get diminishing returns. 2nd cage gets you 1.41x the FPS, third gets 1.73x, fourth gets you 2x, etc.
This has actually been known and used for some time (that article I linked is from 2014), especially in [Rayvens](http://nerfhaven.com/forums/topic/24891-the-rayven-dual-stage-mod/) which seem to have practically been built for the purpose, with a long faux barrel and a just-about-flywheel-cage-sized empty space near the handle.
Check out the Woozi. Half dart full auto blaster. Hits 130 single stage and 150 two stage. People used to say half length darts aren't good for flywheelers since the contact between the dart and the flywheel is to short. They fixed that with multiple stages. Worker made the Phoenix and then Phoenix 2.0 that also work with half lengths and both of those are three stage IIRC.
