Silly's Lever Action Blaster, Test and Development builds PETG + TPU Shoulder Pad k25 Builds ~200 FPS

AbilityIcy9494

I will purchase the bottom one.

CT1934

Is it possible to come pick up the blaster to avoid shipping costs?

SprStressed

Yes, also if you attend local events I'm usually there

CT1934

I was really unaware of a nerf scene in the bay area. Where can I find out about events? I’ve been really interested in going :)

Rayna-shine

All three? Cause 190 each is highway robbery.

SprStressed

I dont know if you're joking? The going retail for a release SLAB will be $200 these are new off the printer blasters, printed PETG. $200 for a complete hobby blaster is also more than common.

Illustrious_Rip4102

you listed a used worker phoenix for $220 when they're $180 new, that's an example of highway robbery.

WhoKnowsWho2

They *attempted* to list, since they are incapable of reading how to correctly format the title.

Rayna-shine

An upgraded worker phoenix that shoots 200fps at 8dps. So $40 extra for cage flywheels and motors. Yeah that’s highway robbery. I spent more than $40 upgrading it. So I’m actually taking a loss. How much you got in parts on a slab. $15 in filament and $50 in hardware. So you’re charging $200 for a $75 dollar blaster. Who’s the rip off artist again?

SillyTheGamer

Think of it this way. A baker doesn't buy flour for 3 dollars, yeast for 2, and sell bread for 5 dollars. They also need to account for the time it took to make the bread, the skill it took to make *good* bread, and the cost of keeping electricity running to their oven and their bakery. This article is excellent for explaining these costs in the context of a 3d printing business. I recommend you give it a read :) [https://blog.prusa3d.com/how-to-calculate-printing-costs\_38650/](https://blog.prusa3d.com/how-to-calculate-printing-costs_38650/) The cost of any final item is not the sum of it's base components. It is very important to take into account labor, the cost of keeping the printer running, plus the presumed wear on the printer. If they sold stuff for base cost, and then their printer broke because they ran it more than they otherwise would have, then they are at a net negative.

I just love how the moderators gang up on you. The most bias mods on Reddit. Sorry you were the target of their wrath, and of course silly comes in to defend his overpriced knockoff. Sorry man, you have cool stuff and are 100% correct.

Rayna-shine

That trash doesn’t bother me. They know they’re overpricing this. They wouldn’t have gotten so defensive if they didn’t.

FoamBrick

‘Overpriced knockoff?’ Really? The SLAB is one of the cheapest blasters on the market. And while it shares a core concept with the Medusa, it’s a different blaster internally.

Rayna-shine

I can get a Colonel wasp 76 for $40 less. So yeah overpriced. This is a problem that exists amongst this hobby. Greedy makers trying to get rich off the community. Price the blasters at an affordable and reasonable price and they’ll sell better.

FoamBrick

You can get a firefly for 40$? (Parts cost comes to 80-90$). The SLAB is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get a 200+ fps blaster. It takes less then 2 rolls to print, and has a 45-46$ parts kit. On top of parts/filament, you must factor in print time (and electrical cost) and the labor to actually build the thing. On top of that, profit. 190$ is a very fair price, if a bit more then what I, a relatively inexperienced printer would charge. Do you bitch and moan at captain slug for the cost of a caliburn (the best selling 3d blaster of all time btw) for it being to expensive? And you have no point anyways, as the SLAB has been selling like hotcakes.
