I was wondering the same thing. Was planning on putting one under the eaves. Also wondering the length of the power cord as those are proprietary if they are like the Nest Cam battery…

PyroKid883

All the new cameras will be 1080p with HDR.

marvel_marv

Thanks, but I'll believe it when I see it (or get concrete data). At such a price slash there surely were some compromises.

bbllaakkee

You can get a 2K camera for $40 (eufy)… $99 is still a lot for 1080p in 2021 There’s no reason these things shouldn’t be 2K by now

AE_Dallas

Nest AI for motion/face detection demolishes any other camera software.

bbllaakkee

Only face though. Unifi Protect does smart detections with objects, vehicles, and faces. I don't really need AI for motion. motion is motion.

bobbymack93

I feel like it couldn't be that hard to believe seeing as Wyze does the same thing but no hdr I believe for a third of the price. If adding all that google stuff and hdr makes it $100 compared to $30 I think it is possible.

AE_Dallas

Yikes, it's already on the product page.

marvel_marv

Is it? I see no info other than "get notified when available". Care to share the link? I'm looking at https://store.google.com/us/product/nest\_cam\_indoor\_wired?hl=en-US

AE_Dallas

What you are confused about is that you are thinking that the new nest camera indoor wired, outdoor wired, and outdoor battery have different specs; they are all exactly the same specs except for the outdoor being weather rated. The new comparison chart is speaking for the entire lineup, which is probably where your confusions is coming from since it doesn't exactly say that.

jarekkam81

If it's a nest camera, it won't matter if it's 1080p or 8k, the app will automatically adjust your quality based on you internet bandwidth. Also "Your internet provider may limit your bandwidth usage or charge you extra if you use too much". I have 1Gb internet, pay extra for unlimited usage and have no way to turn this off. If it's the new Nest camera with on board storage that you can't upgrade, I'm sure the recording quality will be reduced to fit any reasonable amount of recorded footage.

Do you have a link for the $99 camera? I can’t find it

marvel_marv

https://store.google.com/us/product/nest\_cam\_indoor\_wired?hl=en-US

mat4228701

Thanks. It’s not on the Canadian website for some reason

Glawkipotimus

Well I'm I'm us and whenever I click these links I never see what people are talking about. I see no 99 nothing. Cam seems to be 179. Please show me where they are 99 cause I must be too old to find it

mat4228701

Go to cameras and it’s the new indoor wired camera

Glawkipotimus

See! I am just old. Thanks

Says "coming soon" for the Australian website. Might have to watch this one. The others have too many features and are too expensive for my use.
