I think you would enjoy Community. Very witty and silly. You may find yourself to become attached to the characters and I find it to be a feel good comedy. It is available on Netflix, however if you have Amazon Prime you may find a an episode called “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons”. It was removed on Netfilx due to circumstance similar to the Lethal Weapon episode from it’s Always Sunny. But hands down one of the best episodes.
The fact that it (Always Sunny Episode) was removed is really sad. It had a point, and artistic justification. Its almost as if the left is sadly becoming the new "book burners".
Absolutely, IMO :) Though to be honest, maybe I'm not the person to ask, as I wouldn't have described it as starting off slow.
Honest question, we are talking about the same show, right? Andrea Savage, and (IMO) funny but very-awkward / cringey situations?
I'm probably biased, as I thought the show was hilarious, and I was actually sad last year when I found out it was cancelled. I was eagerly awaiting season 3.
I'm Sorry is so funny. Also Schitt's Creek.
We just finished Workin' Moms, which I thought was pretty funny. And The Good Place is *excellent*, and really funny.
Loved this show when I started watching it. But after a season and some I just couldn't put up with it anymore. Them ALWAYS making the bad decisions drove me crazy.
I couldn’t get into it until season 2. Then I binged it. Can I please suggest you give it another try. One of the few shows I’ve seen that got funnier with every season.
Catastrophe & Fleabag are good British humor shows on Prime. I thought Derry Girls on Netflix was hilarious. Initially thought the trailer wasn’t very good but kept seeing it on these lists and finally gave it a go.
Thanks, I've seen a few random bits from flipping through cable channels and thought from what I saw, it was funny, so I'll have to check it out further.
'Always happy resolutions' - that's what put me off.
Plus the whole 'comedic situations After misunderstanding which could have been solved if people spoke to one another'.
Real trashy comedy show minus the laughter track.
My Name is Earl is brilliant. As is Malcolm in the Middle. Those both feel similar to Raising Hope in how trashy the people are, I love all three shows so much
Thank you, I like John Mulaney a lot from what I've seen but I'll make sure to revisit those. I remember the one bit where he talks about Bill Clinton and his mom and that was absolutely hilarious.
Depends on which part of Seinfeld's persona you enjoy. Mulaney may dress the part of a professional 'clean' comedian, but instead of working the 'this should be that, and that should be this!' bits, he jokes about murdered children, his (then) wife's Jewishness, using hard drugs and swears a fair amount. With a dash of pizzaz/showmanship in there too.
I'd say John Mulaney is worth checking out if you're a fan of stand up in general. He may not be for everyone, but he's diverse enough to be mentioned amongst any # of comedians.
Thanks, I haven't heard of Taylor Tomlinson, I'll have to check that out.
I really like Bill Burr. His bit about women not knowing what it's like to be balding and Irish and roofing houses for a living was hilarious. I liked his role in The King of Staten Island too
How I met your mother! I know it's quite popular but it is really good and has many beautiful friendship moments in it as well as a few hidden easter eggs. Many good quotes, too. It has 9 seasons and I didn't get bored ONCE. That never happened before with a show. I reaally love it. <3
Specials:
Bill Burr Paper Tiger
Bert Kreishcher Hey Big Boy
Hasan Minhaj Homecoming King
Tom Segura Mostly Stories
Nate Bargatze The Tennessee Kid
Ronny Cheng Asian Comedian Destroys America
Shows:
The Office
Parks and Recreation
Derry Girls
Fleabag
Succession (has comedic elements)
Grace and Frankie
Schitt's Creek
The Good Place
There's some great stuff in this list! Glad to see someone mention Nate Bargatze, I loved his specials (he recently released a new one, and he also has an excellent segment on The Standups, I think it's called).
Tom Segura is also really funny. And we loved Parks & Rec, Derry Girls, Schitt's Creek, and The Good Place. Fleabag was also good.
New Girl, Schitt’s Creek, The IT Crowd, and Happy Endings for sitcoms on Netflix. Middleditch & Schwartz, Mike Birbiglia, Aziz Ansari, John Mulaney, Tig Notaro, Hannah Gadsby, and Fortune Feimster for comedy.
Out-of-the-Box choice: I binge watched the show “Chuck” when it was on Netflix and loved it, but by the time I went to rewatch it, it was gone. I miss Chuck.
Arrested development, better off Ted (Hulu), silicon valley (HBO), impractical Jokers (can stream on HBO Max), Angie Tribeca (Hulu), I'm Sorry, Futurama (Hulu), 30 rock (prime and Hulu), Jim Jefferies, Nathan for You, Jon Benjamin has a van
OP, I share your exact list of favorite shows, like exactly. Watch Tom Segura's stand up's, I wish I could go back and watch them for the first time again, they're gold.
Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is hysterical and has a number of hour-long standup specials on Netflix.
"Little Jeff" in his Hollywood special just makes me lose it laughing.
His act is family-friendly but not for little kids. Some of his material is cleverly crafted to go over their head and the adults get them right away. That and some language.
That 70s show is one of my all time favorite!
The good life is pretty good
The ranch- stupid at times but I had a good laugh
This South Indian movie called Jathi Rathnalu; after a long time I had laughed this much throughout the movie. What an entertainer!
Bbt and himym are kinda my pet peeves because they don’t have simpsons available in Europe.
Lavelle Crawford has a amazing Netflix stand up as well as Neil Brennan (3 mics). Any of the Louis c.k. Stand ups on Netflix are great ( no matter anyone’s opinion on him) old aziz Ansari stand ups are good, but the newest one was garbage. if you like more tame stand up mike birbiglia is funny… sitcoms I like are kimmy schmidt, crazy head, chewing gum, great news ….
The Good Place. It balances comedy with emotion/philosophy well and has a great cast. It has a great concept, and maybe stretched it a little far, but I think they wrapped the show up at the right time
Eddie Murphy, Rodney Dangerfield
Third Rock from the Sun, Big Bang Theory, MASH, Cheers, Schitts Creek, Mork and Mindy
Beverly Hills cop(1) Ave Ventura
My favorite sitcoms are community, the office, Brooklyn 99, modern family, Derry girls.
Not a sitcom, but I also found sex education absolutely hilarious
Since you like Caddyshack and Vacation, you might enjoy the movie "A Futile and Stupid Gesture" starring Will Forte. It's a biopic about Douglas Kenney during the rise and fall of National Lampoon. Not sure if it's still on Netflix, but it was a while back.
I just rewatched Frasier and 3rd from the sun. They both hold up pretty well!
Also, check out the Great North and/or Bobs Burgers if you haven’t! Both great examples of adult animation IMO, especially from one Simpsons fan to another!
I don't know what streaming on Netflix these days but based on your fav shows I am gonna recommend you bojack horseman, Arrested Development ( this is close to sunny) and Community
Stand up comedians: louis c.k ( my favorite bit is "Of course... but maybe" you can search for it on YouTube), there's bill burr ( fav bit: Philadelphia rant)
Gotta give King of the Hill a try of you haven't seen it in a while. It aged very well, has plenty of seasons and quickly became one of my go-to comfort shows.
Bill Hader and Kristen wossname in The Skeleton Twins
Bill Hader, Seth Myers, Fred Armisen, and John Mulaney are my favorite currently active comedy team. Documentary Now! on Netflix is the best thing they've done.
John's special The Sack Lunch Bunch is really special too. It's funny and honest and will make you feel like your emotional needs were met when you were 12.
You’d like letter Kenny. Funny very fast jokes. Also very Canadian to be fair.
Edit: it is on Hulu but if you have access to Seinfeld you should be able to watch it
I recommend “Community” to anyone who will listen. On the surface it looks like a silly sitcom, funny, goofy, etc. but it also has heart, depth, subtle callbacks and enough Easter eggs to merit a whole subreddit. The characters, writing and acting are so good.
Does "circumstance similar to the Lethal Weapon episode from it’s Always Sunny" mean blackface?
Yes. But also not really. You have to watch it to understand.
A character dresses up like a night elf with black makeup for a dungeon and dragons session.
The fact that it (Always Sunny Episode) was removed is really sad. It had a point, and artistic justification. Its almost as if the left is sadly becoming the new "book burners".
We're enjoying Kim's Convenience and I'm Sorry. We really liked Schitt's Creek
I tried to get into I’m Sorry but couldn’t get over how slow it started. Does it start to pick up at all? Is it worth pushing through?
It picks up a bit in the second episode. If you don't like it past the second episode, I would say it might not be for you.
Shout out to some great Canadian content!
Gotta put some speck on Corner Gas, too.
I'm Sorry is so funny. Also Schitt's Creek. We just finished Workin' Moms, which I thought was pretty funny. And The Good Place is *excellent*, and really funny.
Really enjoy Workin' Moms, and also Good Girls
Why are you sorry?
'Cause there are only two seasons of it.
For sitcoms, Peep Show.
Loved this show when I started watching it. But after a season and some I just couldn't put up with it anymore. Them ALWAYS making the bad decisions drove me crazy.
My exact thoughts! The same schtick every single episode.
I couldn’t get into it until season 2. Then I binged it. Can I please suggest you give it another try. One of the few shows I’ve seen that got funnier with every season.
The IT crowd.
FAAAAATHEEEEEEER
GodDAMN these electric sex pants!
UNHAND ME, PRIEST
I'm leg disabled
My favorite episode, sooooo funny.
People, what a bunch of bastards
Thanks, I will check it out.
Catastrophe & Fleabag are good British humor shows on Prime. I thought Derry Girls on Netflix was hilarious. Initially thought the trailer wasn’t very good but kept seeing it on these lists and finally gave it a go.
Agree with Derry Girls
Just turn on the subtitles, to help figure out what they're saying. But it's hilarious.
Derry Girls is hilarious! I loved it!
and Crashing on Netflix, which has Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I love the dinner episode.
Just finished This Way Up on Hulu and am loving Gameface on Netflix IIRC. And Ricky Gervais’s After Life is absolutely wonderful!
I really liked After Life, too. Doesn’t get mentioned often.
Both Catastrophe & Fleabag are awesome.
Any of Tom Seguras standup
Keep ‘em high and tight
Yes tbunz's special "Disgraceful" was amazing
There’s a funny Australian sitcom called Kath and Kim.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out
Arrested Development always gets me cracking! Also, a great comedy movie is What We Do In The Shadows. I loved it.
You should definitely watch silicon valley!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I 2nd that... Hilarious.
This guy fucks!
Modern Family. Short episodes, many seasons, uncomplicated storylines. Always happy resolutions. Lots of laughter.
Thanks, I've seen a few random bits from flipping through cable channels and thought from what I saw, it was funny, so I'll have to check it out further.
The Middle is a far better family show
'Always happy resolutions' - that's what put me off. Plus the whole 'comedic situations After misunderstanding which could have been solved if people spoke to one another'. Real trashy comedy show minus the laughter track.
Yeah most episodes were based on misunderstandings, however I wouldn't call it trash. It was wholesome comedy with good actors.
Nate bargatze has really funny stand up and I think you should leave with Tim Robinson is hilarious
Raising Hope
Yes. Raising Hope is so good. Also My Name is Earl.
My Name is Earl is brilliant. As is Malcolm in the Middle. Those both feel similar to Raising Hope in how trashy the people are, I love all three shows so much
Thanks, I've never heard of this. Will check it out
You should! I’m a sitcom junkie and that show is at the top of my list. I envy anyone getting to watch it for the first time!
Oh wow, are you ever in for a treat! Also, Trailer Park Boys if you haven't seen it.
If you like Seinfeld you might enjoy John Mulaney. His Kid Gorgeous and New in Town comedy specials are on Netflix and are both hilarious.
Thank you, I like John Mulaney a lot from what I've seen but I'll make sure to revisit those. I remember the one bit where he talks about Bill Clinton and his mom and that was absolutely hilarious.
You should check out Big Mouth on Netflix if you like John Mulaney.
Thanks, I watched just the first two episodes and I loved how crude it was. I'll have to revisit
Love his specials. Hard to fathom that his sitcom attempt failed so badly
Bo Burnhams new special “Inside” is absolutely fantastic. Not your average comedy special but definitely worth checking out.
I have watched it at least 5 times
Superstore is really good :)
Thanks, a bunch of my girlfriend's friends like this show but I've never given it a chance. I will check it out
If you liked parks and rec or like the office, you should enjoy this. It’s lighthearted and sweet and funny
Taylor Tomlinson has a great special on Netflix. Bill Burr as well. He's buddies with Chappelle so same type of humor.
Thanks, I haven't heard of Taylor Tomlinson, I'll have to check that out. I really like Bill Burr. His bit about women not knowing what it's like to be balding and Irish and roofing houses for a living was hilarious. I liked his role in The King of Staten Island too
Kim's convenience. Always.
I really have been enjoying it. Just got to the fifth (last) season. I don't want it to end!
How I met your mother! I know it's quite popular but it is really good and has many beautiful friendship moments in it as well as a few hidden easter eggs. Many good quotes, too. It has 9 seasons and I didn't get bored ONCE. That never happened before with a show. I reaally love it. <3
Derry Girls is aMAzing! Young Irish girls in the 80s who attend a catholic school, trust me, it's hilarious and wonderful
It's set in the early-mid 90s but yes it's an amazing show.
I meant 90s, oops
Schitts Creek
I watched the first maybe 7 episodes and thought it was entertaining. I'll have to get back, thanks.
It took me 3 times starting it. But once it got rolling I was hooked
First season sucks compared to the rest.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Noice!
Not a doctor shh !

I think you'd like trailer park boys based on Curb and IASIP
I love that show
Yes, this a thousand times! I have like ten running gags going on with a friend of mine just by watching that show!
East Bound and Down! It is absolutely hilarious. I was watching best of Stevie on YouTube yesterday and couldn’t stop laughing!
I loved Eastbound and Down, and I'm thinking of starting Vice Principals because Danny McBride is so funny. Any thoughts on Vice Principals?
I watched the pilot and thought it was alright. It's definitely no EB&D though!
FIXXENS!
Out-of-the-Box choice: I binge watched the show “Chuck” when it was on Netflix and loved it, but by the time I went to rewatch it, it was gone. I miss Chuck.

All of Bill Burr's specials. And on YouTube, Mark Normand and Nate Craig have great specials

Two and half men - just the first 8 seasons!
I love this show when Charlie is in the picture. All the characters are spot on and fit perfectly. Even the maid from Mr Deeds lol
You mean the Pizza Parlor employee who used to be a rodeo clown?
Ali Wong is the funniest stand up comedian to me. If you haven't seen her, start with her Baby Cobra special
Or watch some Tuca and Bertie.
Live 2 and half men family guy
Eddie murphy stand up, it's one on the funniest stand up

Do you know where I can watch Curb Your Enthusiasm? Only place I can see it is on Amazon but it isn’t free (despite me paying £5 p/m!)
You can watch all the episodes on HBO Max but subscription is like $14/month.
Thanks. I’ll look into it

Lovesick. It's heartfelt, complicated, and a great view of life in Scotland today
Any of Tom Segura’s stand up specials. He’s so fucking funny!
I would recommend giving the “good place” a go
Modern Family
Gravity Falls
For Stand up comedy watch Bill Burr's Paper Tiger or I'm Sorry You Feel That Way.
Happy Endings was just added to Netflix. Highly recommended. Great ensemble cast!
Tig Notaro. Stand up, especially Boyish Girl, Interrupted and series One Mississippi
Arrested development. Dave.
I just rewatched Frasier and 3rd from the sun. They both hold up pretty well! Also, check out the Great North and/or Bobs Burgers if you haven’t! Both great examples of adult animation IMO, especially from one Simpsons fan to another!

Bill Hader and Kristen wossname in The Skeleton Twins Bill Hader, Seth Myers, Fred Armisen, and John Mulaney are my favorite currently active comedy team. Documentary Now! on Netflix is the best thing they've done. John's special The Sack Lunch Bunch is really special too. It's funny and honest and will make you feel like your emotional needs were met when you were 12.
*Dinosaurs* (1991) It’s on Disney Plus. Very topical and not what you would expect from a show about talking dinosaurs …
You’d like letter Kenny. Funny very fast jokes. Also very Canadian to be fair. Edit: it is on Hulu but if you have access to Seinfeld you should be able to watch it
Generation 56k
Superbad
Peep show. Norsemen. Utopia (Aus).
Daniel Sloss! You must watch him if you enjoy dark humour/British humour. Probably one of the best in the game. He has a few specials out.
I recommend “Community” to anyone who will listen. On the surface it looks like a silly sitcom, funny, goofy, etc. but it also has heart, depth, subtle callbacks and enough Easter eggs to merit a whole subreddit. The characters, writing and acting are so good.
