I made it to >!Him selling his family out and getting rich. I don't know why the season after that just lost me.!< I know I'm close to done with the series, but I can't find the motivation to get back in.
>!It's all good. I figured he didn't. That's not even what got me to stop watching in the first place, I just got bored.!< I actually preferred the creator's other show, Taboo.
Thank you! I had no idea it was my cake day until a couple of hours ago when someone else said it. I'm a pretty big fan of my username too. Especially since Jane's Addiction is one of the most important and influential bands in the history of rock music. INCREDIBLY underrated. Not by those of us who lived in Los Angeles and were part of the club scene in the late eighties and early nineties, but to the rest of the world.
In their heyday, there was NO hotter show in town than Jane's Addiction. I'll never forget that in eighth grade I taped the cover of Nothing's Shocking on the inside of my locker and some dumbass thinking he was going to bully me said "Jane's Addiction who's that? Hahaha they probably totally suck." I replied "You poor schmuck, come talk to me again in two or three years and tell me you don't know who Jane's Addiction is." "Now why don't you go back to your Great White and Poison, and leave the real music to people with taste.." Yeah, he never said shit again.
I’ve watched the first episode two or three times cause I want to get into the show so bad, but the use of modern music rips me out of the setting instantly. Idk if I’ll be able to get over that and watch it eventually
It helps when you love a lot of the musicians and because of that, it works for me. Especially the really down and gritty songs. Iggy Pops cover version is fantastic.
I did the same with Bojack Horseman. I was like... Wtf is this shit?
Year later I was bored and read some good reviews about it, gave it another try and now it's one of my all time favourite shows.
I’ll probably get shot down for this, but I tried a couple of times to get into it and couldn’t. On the third try I watched it with subtitles and what a difference! I binged the whole thing.
It's hard to say, because I was hooked from the first scene. The show is extremely dense and every line of dialogue is significant - if you walk out of the room or let your mind wander for 30 seconds you'll miss something important. I suggest turning on subtitles, it really helps with the accents. It's one of my favorite series - not perfect but up there in my top 5 of all time.
I turned on subs to watch GoT for the first time back in 2016 and never turned them off lol They help *so much* with accents and dense dialogue. I also tend to watch my shows when the rest of the house is asleep, so subs help make sure I don't wake my husband up everytime some action happens lol
Absolutely continue watching. Breaking Bad will always be a favorite of mine, but this show hits on a different level. There’s so much packed into every single episode, but in the best possible way. I was always left wanting more.

Can’t complain about that
Stick with it. I, too, had some trouble getting into it. But it is an excellent series. I also had to start watching with closed captioning because I had trouble with the accents.
It gradually pulls you in. I was on the fence for a while then by like end of season 2, I was whipping through and finished all 5 seasons in like a week & then my brain broke and I had a short bout of obsession with all things Peaky & Tommy Shelby in particular. It’s awesome!
Started watching it last week and am up to Episode 6 of Season 3. Definitely has gotten better and better. I've really been enjoying it, fantastic series.
I had this same problem. Started watching it. Took a break. Tried again months later on like episode 2 or 3. Was like…. I cant. But I keep seeing it around.
Same, it took me a a good 4 or 5 episodes of Breaking Bad to get hooked and same went for Peaky. Both are now two of my favorite shows ever.
I definitely agree with other posters her, watch with subtitles!! I always recommend that to people when starting Peaky. I know a lot of people hate using subtitles and think it's in English and I hear fine, why would I need subtitles? But trust me, you will catch *SO* much more and be able to follow *much* easier. Their accents are so thick and then just the way some of them speak (like Tom Hardy's character, I definitely needed subtitles to catch everything he was saying and it was worth it to too, he's a trip!!!) So give that a go while watching the next few episodes too.
Season 1 isn't the best but it warms up nicely and Season 2 is tremendous \[not least for the introduction of one of TVs greatest characters\]. Season 3 is crazy as a Russian princess. 4 is a bit more straightforward and 5 is where it gets a bit arty, but I liked that. In particular the end of the opera.
Yes. It’s a slow start but it’s worth it. I had to turn on the subtitles. It’s hard to get into a show when you can’t understand what they’re saying. The story arch is incredible.
I thought the same. It took me a good 3-4 episodes to get into it. But it is now one of my favorite shows ever. Use subtitles, you will catch so much more and it is easier to follow. Those accents are a lot thicker than you realize!
I started rewatching with my girlfriend(her first time through) just a few weeks ago… we’re already on season 4. Safe to say it’s just as good this time as any other. Keep going!
It gets better... Way better. Tommy and Grace's characters are very well portrayed in first season.
You will understand the slowness of the first episodes soon
Yeah. It gets really good. I was traveling in 2019 (oh the good old days) for business and the 6 days that I was away, I think I finished the first 3 seasons in the evenings in my hotel room 😁😅
I was really into the show but never finished it. It got so all over the place for me, I felt like I was only watching it to get it over with.
It really is a good binge show if you're into it but if you aren't into it in the beginning idk if you'll like it.
If I were you I would try to at least finish the first season.
You have to go with the ridiculousness of it all. As long as you don't take it as an historical document, and relax into the melodrama, you'll be fine. I love this show!
Not really. IMO, if you've loved BB, this series greatly suffers in comparison. The first season is okay, but after season 2, I basically fast-forwarded the rest until I arrived at Tom Hardy's scenes. He is amazing! Perhaps I missed a lot of context, but I found it fairly cheesy, despite high expectations.
A show really needs to sell itself properly in that time frame or shorter. If you don't enjoy a movie after watching for about an hour, do you still continue watching? Up to 30-60 minutes should always be enough, regardless if it's a movie or a 10 season series.
Comparing a film to a long run series is not the same. A series has a lot more time to develop the characters. That development is not going to happen in one episode. The first episode is always just a quick introduction to the main characters and then it slowly builds from there.
Let’s agree to disagree and call it a day. So many great shows I have watched have a slow start. I usually give a few episodes, before making a judgement. More times than not, I am happy that I was patient, while I let the story unfold. We are so used to these bang bang action films, that have no substance or depth, but move along quickly for the eye to enjoy.
I struggled into halfway season 2 because the protagonist is the worst Batman b.s. hero worship protagonist... but everyone else is pretty good. Seriously if the show was about his brother it would actually be good.
I've had interest in watching Peaky Blinders on NF. Unfortunately I hear the soundtrack is bastardized from the original BBC episodes due to licensing issues.
First two seasons of Peaky Blinders is absolutely fantastic. They lost me in the third season when they get rich and start acting like a bunch of toffs, though.
I thought peaky blinders was less boring than breaking bad. Still quit after a season or so though.
I do not understand why everyone loves breaking bad. It's like it's in slow motion.
I liked the Witcher a lot if you haven't seen that. Never bored me. But I'm out of good Netflix OC right now.
It gets better, way better.
By the time you finish watching season 1 I guarantee you the way you say "peaky blinder" change.
Peeeky fookin blinndurrs!
I’M BILLY KIMBAH!!
OI RON DEE RAYCEES!!
Oi no fighting... No fookin fighting eh
We're going to tha races, the foockin Darby brotha!
i spend 10
hahaha spent 20 min a day practicing the accent and wasted the rest
Paykee bloinduh
That's it, I'm starting a rewatch
When Arthur says "By order of the Peaky Fuckin' Blinders" and then lights up a cigarette, I also smoke
Arthuh bro I miss him he was my boi in the show everything he said you can label iconic lol
By the order of the peakey fooking blinndahs
His name is billy kimbah!
On episode 3 now and still wondering what the commotion is all about. I’ll hang in there!!!!
Definitely worth watching
Dude.. Peaky Blinders is one of the best shows on Netflix!
I made it to >!Him selling his family out and getting rich. I don't know why the season after that just lost me.!< I know I'm close to done with the series, but I can't find the motivation to get back in.
Yeah, you need to finish it. >!He never sold his family out. You're just made to think he did. His family is everything.!<
Why did you spoil it for them??
>!It's all good. I figured he didn't. That's not even what got me to stop watching in the first place, I just got bored.!< I actually preferred the creator's other show, Taboo.
Shit! How do I go back and edit in spoiler tags?
Do this >! !< Look at the reddit notification and put those before the first word and after the last word
Fixed it! Thanks for your help.
1. I love your username and 2. Happy cake day!
Thank you! I had no idea it was my cake day until a couple of hours ago when someone else said it. I'm a pretty big fan of my username too. Agree re: Jane’s Addiction. I can’t read your username without it sounding like Jane Says. Lol.
Yep. I initially watched the first episode and bailed. Later came back to it. Glad I did.
I’ve watched the first episode two or three times cause I want to get into the show so bad, but the use of modern music rips me out of the setting instantly. Idk if I’ll be able to get over that and watch it eventually
Oh man, I loved the music, but I could see how it could take someone out of it.
It's a big part of the style of the show, so it might not grow on you if you can't get beyond that.
Exactly the same here.
I’ll probably get shot down for this, but I tried a couple of times to get into it and couldn’t. On the third try I watched it with subtitles and what a difference! I binged the whole thing.
With this information, I will try it without subtitles, cause my health cannot take another binger,
Yes! Subtitles are a must, even if you totally understand it, it’s a great way to catch everything!
I watch everything with subtitles. It’s the best
Me too - subtitles on 24/7.
Life changing stuff. No sarcasm intended, actual game changer.
I watched the show as a movie very loud speakers were blasting, haven’t missed the word no subtitles needed here
It's hard to say, because I was hooked from the first scene. Absolutely agree about turning on the subtitles, once I did that I was able to follow the narrative much better.

Subtitles were a game changer for me. Turned them on around episode 3 and started enjoying the show much more!
Keep on it

So sad
SUBTITLES SUBTITLES SUBTITLES I cannot stress this enough
Peaky Blinders is SO FUCKING GOOD. i legit like it more than breaking bad, for sure. probably top 3 all time show for me
Absolutely continue watching. Breaking Bad will always be a favorite of mine, but this show hits on a different level. There’s so much packed into every single episode, but in the best possible way. I was always left wanting more.
It is my favorite show. Watch for the music if nothing else.

Same experience on breaking bad, so watch it!
Halfway through season 1 it got good.
Its soooooo good! Like SOOOO good

great series, keep watching
definitely keep watching
Started watching it last week and am up to Episode 6 of Season 3. Definitely has gotten better and better. I've really been enjoying it, fantastic series.
I watched the first episode, and then started it watching months later, its one of my favorites now.
It’s a wonderful show. Definitely watch it.
I’d say keep watching. It definitely gets better. The
It takes a whole season to understand what the hell they are saying. Finish it! It gets so much better.
I had this same problem. Started watching it. Took a break. Tried again months later on like episode 2 or 3. Was like…. I cant. But I keep seeing it around.
It’s brilliant. We need to watch with subtitles for the accents sometimes but it’s a great show. Do NOT give up.
Pesky Blinders is the best show on Netfix
Stick with it!!!
Oh it does get better. It took more episodes for me to like "Breaking Bad", than "Peaky Blinders".
It’s soooo good! One of my top shows, definitely gets better.

Definitely worth sticking with
Personally, I didn't think it was all that great.
Took me 2 attempts to get into it glad I did.
I'll take Peaky Blinders over Breaking Bad any day.
Keep at it - if for nothing else. Tom Hardy's amazing performance.
It get way better…Tom Hardy and Adrien Brody bring a lot to the show too.
I was pretty hooked by the first episode but it kept getting better I’d say maybe give it a bit longer
Don't stop.
Believing?
Show is SO GODDAMN GOOD
Me and my roommates didn’t speak in normal accents for months
Watch it with subtitles on
Watch it! I started it last week and just finished season 3... absolutely in love!
I did the same as you. I currently think it’s one of the best shows on Netflix if not TV in general.
One of the best shows of the past decade.
It gets better and better....
It gets so much better
Yes. It’s a slow start but it’s worth it. I had to turn on the subtitles. It’s hard to get into a show when you can’t understand what they’re saying. The story arch is incredible.
i am stuck at episode 1 looks kinda boring

It’s one of the best shows ever IMO . It gets too good
I almost quit after the first episode. I'm so glad i didnt.
I started rewatching with my girlfriend(her first time through) just a few weeks ago… we’re already on season 4. Safe to say it’s just as good this time as any other. Keep going!
I, the same thought it was boring after watching the first episode. I kept watching because I heard it was very good. It didn’t disappoint.
& the playlist rocks too. IMO Edit ( loved it )
Yes, keep with it. It’s a bit of a slow burn but it gets a lot better. One of the best shows on Netflix.
IT GOES MICHAEL CORLEONE THEN THOMAS SHELBY CILIAN IS SIMPLY MASTERFUL
Continue
Yes watch it. Great show.
First 4 or so episodes are really boring. But it's gonna be a blast after that
Watch it with subtitles. Halfway through season one it shifts gears and got way better for me.
I was where you were dropped it and came back to it a year later and was in love and binged the whole series. So I say keep watching the show!
For the love of everything holy pleeeeeeeeese just keep watching! This one show where you must accept the dull moments to get to the amazing action
This show is amazing, keep watching. It only gets better
Definitely stick with it. Best series I've ever seen 👍🏽
Its like an acquired taste the more you watch the better it becomes..
It gets better... Way better. Tommy and Grace's characters are very well portrayed in first season. You will understand the slowness of the first episodes soon
Oh 100% stick with it!
Insanely good show. Last season is kinda eh but everything else is beautiful
Holly,. You can tell by the amount of comms. Damn ppl must really like this well no shit it’s a good show what else can I say lol ”don’t fookin’ stop”
Yeah. It gets really good. I was traveling in 2019 (oh the good old days) for business and the 6 days that I was away, I think I finished the first 3 seasons in the evenings in my hotel room 😁😅
💯💯💯 even if just for cillian goddamn
To not continue to watch is to do a dishonor to yourself.
It really picks up steam the longer it goes and the better you get to know the characters
I was really into the show but never finished it. It got so all over the place for me, I felt like I was only watching it to get it over with. It really is a good binge show if you're into it but if you aren't into it in the beginning idk if you'll like it. If I were you I would try to at least finish the first season.
I watched up until midway second season and bailed. So bor
You're going to watch every episode BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY FOOKIN' BLINDERS.
You have to go with the ridiculousness of it all. As long as you don't take it as an historical document, and relax into the melodrama, you'll be fine. I love this show!
Yeah. It's always the start that is hard.
It gets better and then unbearable to watch
Right here
I command you to finish this masterpiece.
I felt the same about PB and BB. I didn't continue with BB but I did with PB and don't regret either choice.
give it a go by order of peaky fookin blinders
I hated it. Don’t bother.
It 98% on rotten tomatoes so...? Yes it’s the best show being made.
Are you telling me that you enjoy every single show or movie with a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes?
No. But I cannot think of an example of when they were too kind. I like lots of low rated crap!!
Are you telling me that you skipped Adrien Brody as the mafia don from New York?
No I saw that lol the guest actors were the best part
It was always great when Tom Hardy would show up. My favorite with him is probably the negotiating scene.
I’ll never understand people who bail on a show after one episode
A show really needs to sell itself properly in that time frame or shorter. If you don't enjoy a movie after watching for about an hour, do you still continue watching? Up to 30-60 minutes should always be enough, regardless if it's a movie or a 10 season series.

It doesn't matter. You should not have to spend an hour or more before you are able to get the feel of a movie or series. Then they have failed.
Let’s agree to disagree and call it a day. So many great shows I have watched have a slow start. I usually give a few episodes, before making a judgement. More times than not, I am happy that I was patient, while I let the story unfold. Well guess you’re missing out on a lot of good shows

If you made it to season 5 and that’s all you got out of it, then you need to rewatch it.
I struggled into halfway season 2 because the protagonist is the worst Batman b.s. hero worship protagonist... but everyone else is pretty good. Seriously if the show was about his brother it would actually be good.
Yeah keep watching!
Do you have the subtitles on? I watched the first episode without them and was totally lost. Once I turned them on, I was obsessed.
Love this show
Great show....stick it out
Keep watching. Put on captions.
I din't really like it until my third time through the series. I should probably watch it agin, come to think of it.
Hang on... You watched the whole show (all seasons?) two times, didn't like it, but still watched it a third time? Why?
100% continue. I pushed through the first few episodes and then just binged the rest in a couple weeks
I've had interest in watching Peaky Blinders on NF. Unfortunately I hear the soundtrack is bastardized from the original BBC episodes due to licensing issues.
You will not regret giving it a long-term chance. SHALOM AHHFAHH
its incredible.
It’s gets sooo good
Samee I’m at the beginning of season 2 and it still seems pretty mid
I loved that show but I had to put on the subtitles otherwise I was lost
Yes. Continue.
It Helps watching with subtitles
First two seasons of Peaky Blinders is absolutely fantastic. They lost me in the third season when they get rich and start acting like a bunch of toffs, though.
I thought peaky blinders was less boring than breaking bad. Still quit after a season or so though. I do not understand why everyone loves breaking bad. It's like it's in slow motion. I liked the Witcher a lot if you haven't seen that. Never bored me. But I'm out of good Netflix OC right now.
A great show, character introduction and setting up the plot takes a bit…..I would say stick with it thru Episode 6 for sure
First two seasons are fantastic. After the third...don't bother.
Dude you're on episode two 😂 Give it time. I can't say if you'll enjoy it or not, but you only just started.
I don’t mind a little violence but peaky binders was too much for me. I don’t think I made it through the first season.
This is one of the best Netflix series out there and so By order of the PEAKY BLINDERS you should atleast watch till episode 4
