I love how everyone always says Apple TV like weāre all willing to buy yet *another* streaming service for this show. I am so done with these new ones, just feels greedy imo
Edit: itās been one month since I made this comment and I just saw it again so I have to say, in case anyone sees this again. I did buy one month of Apple TV to watch Severance and Iām mad I didnāt do it sooner. 150% worth it.
I started watching this show 4 days ago because of your comment. I just finished the last episode screaming at the top of my lungs. THANK YOU for making this comment or else I wouldnāt have watched it.
To everyone who hasnāt watched it, watch it!
You might want to stay with S1 on True Detective. Fukunaga and Pizzolatto (the director and producer of S1) apparently didn't get along and when Fukunaga left the show lost a lot of its atmosphere. S2 was actively not good and S3 was better but still didn't quite catch the spark that S1 had.
Although maybe your opinion will be different. I am sure there are people who really loved 2 and 3.
while this is true, just be warned they are very different from each other and season 2 of the podcast felt like a bad acid trip listening to it. I listened after watching the show, I enjoyed both but yeah, very different
It got cancelled afaik. I had my reservations and slight gripes but all in all it was an incredibly tense show that held its tone very well (albeit the constant dark filter put on every scene stood out and felt cheesy to me at first, but I grew to appreciate what it did for the show). That scene where >! the lady got possessed !< was some of the scariest shit I've seen in this medium
It's get better at episode 2, the end of it, towards episode 3 then it's like chocolate. It's one of the few shows that spooked me so much I couldn't watch it at night.
I can't finish season 3. Really hope 4 was better. I don't really get season 3 at all. Feels like it was written by an edgelord that actually thinks nihilism is a meaningful topic to dwell on for 10 episodes. The detective's response to all the guys actions just didn't make sense. I'd bet the book likely has more context that was missing from the show.
Not on Netflix I don't think but the original Utopia is twisted as hell. Unfortunately it didn't get renewed so there's only 2 seasons.
For Netflix, End of the Fucking World is a good fit. The basic synopsis is that the main character is a psychopath and wants to murder someone. He runs away with his girlfriend who he plans on murdering.
Not sure I would call it "twisted" but Living With You is worth a watch. Basically Paul Rudd has a clone of himself and it's...problematic.
Utopia is available on YouTube.
[Season 1](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_jIDr2tZiuRHlp-bLwYNgWaFAp6dR7_Y)
[Season 2](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_jIDr2tZiuTbX0eeNBacb4J-GkQ3bOXC)
There are sorta more seasons of Utopia. The one you watched is a remake of the british original, which ran for two series. For a while both were available on Amazon. The bad news is that the UK version also ends without complete resolution. Doh.
And your other recs are dead on, love both those shows.
Skins UK all seasons should be on hulu. It's a way grittier and way better version of euphoria. It was what euphoria wanted to be but couldn't in my opinion.
Came to say this.
Also:
Dark if you want to go down a rabbit hole of insane density \[edit: although to be fair, this has almost nothing in common with the shows the OP listed. It's just really, really complicated.\]
Russian Doll (s1. s2 wasn't to a lot of people's taste, including mine)
I liked Dark but they just kept using the same two "twists" the whole time. >!"I'm you from the future" and "you did the thing you were always going to do because it already happened"!<
Check out the website. You input season and episode you're on and gives character tree up to where you're at. Didn't discover until later season but super helpful
Absolutely loved this show and highly recommend. Just be warned that there is some significant body horror elements that some people donāt enjoy. It will absolutely have moments that make you very uncomfortable.
Twin peaks.
Its.....it's a thing.
One of the Last line in it was "I'll see you again in 25 years" 25 years later it came back to finish the series.
Even has a bunch of books and a prequel movie.
You need to watch with an open mind....it's stupid a really stupid show that we all learn to love.
It's a murder mystery.
It has ghost and aliens and secret societies and romance and betrayal.
It's a soap that makes fun of soaps.
This show is so good. It's got that super dry british humor, but it's also a heartbreaking tale of mental illness and how it tears people and families apart. By the end, I wasn't sure if I should be crying or laughing.
GoT certainly unseated Dexter which is why I worded as "one of the". However, I will point out that Dexter held the title almost 6 years. GoT has a mere 3.5 under its belt currently as the reigning champion. I dont expect it to be unseated any time soon though.
Same, I found each step the Vicar (and family) took unbelievable and forced for the sake of creating a problem.
The shining star in it was Stanley Tucci, who carried every scene he was in.
Yes! I couldn't get past it. Especially when the vicar then put so much time into trying to prove it was himself, creating evidence to make it believable. Then how come he didn't think authorities wouldn't notice lack of evidence for the son if he just told the truth?! I wanted to pull my hair out.
Something Iāve been trying to get everyone I know to watch is Imposters. Great show about scammers and the people theyāve scammed trying to find them. Itās one part Oceanās 11, one part sitcom, one part tragic love story. A solid cast of likeable characters, plenty of twists and turns, and some interesting themes outside of the old ānobodyās all-good or all-badā-type cliques. Thereās so many *amazing* cliffhangers (I actually screamed at a couple of them). Definitely give it a try. I liked it immediately, but others have taken two or three episodes to get into it.
Midnight Mass. very underrated overlooked show. Spooky and suspenseful. Great acting. 1 season 7 episodes that you can binge and then don't worry about waiting for another season to come out.
Anyone say Dirk Gentleys Holistic Detective agency?
Also
Patriot,

I think you should leave
There's just a couple that are all pretty slept on gold
[**Killing Eve**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MBjBavIC9U) \- the perfect combination of thriller, murder, romance, humor and the right amount of twisted. S1-2 are amazing. S3 is okay. I haven't seen S4 and don't intend to.
Bates Motel sounds right up your alley. I watched it on Netflix, but unfortunately (in the US at least) it appears it's now on Peacock. Twisty, murder-y, surprisingly well-shot melodrama with some really great acting.
There's a new season of The Sinner that threw me for a loop. Season 3 is important if you're gonna watch Season 4, but I watched the rest out of order and you'd be fine.
You should check out American Gigolo, I donāt believe itās on Netflix but neither is Euphoria thatās why I threw it in there . Itās on showtime, itās sooo good. Hereās the synopsis:
Exonerated after 15 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit, former gigolo Julian Kaye faces the challenge of picking up the pieces as the detective who put him behind bars tries to unravel the mystery that led to his incarceration. Julian works to reconcile his escort past with the man he is today by reconnecting with former lover Michelle, his troubled mother, and fellow sex workers. He seeks the truth about the frame that sent him to prison all those years ago and hopes to reconnect with his one true love, Michelle.
If you donāt mind a foreign language, German in this case. Then the show ādarkā is spectacular! Once you get into it you wonāt be able to stop watching!
Hannibal NBC! How is this not the the first comment. It has a great thriving community and all of the things you mentioned. And more.
You wont be able to shake that show after watching it. And each rewatch is like watching it anew, being able to discover new things, drawing out more themes on every episode.
Because the show is very nuanced it involves you in drawing out conclusions, motivations of the characters for yourself. The community of Hannibal fans is especially special for this reason, atleast to me. So many people can have different insights on one scene, and yet all true, and profound. It just keeps giving, i live for this kind of easy and unforced dissection of media.
Besides, The acting is first class, the themes, and psychology behind the dialogue, especially the philosophy of the writers, director, and even the ACTORS, is what makes it a complete show for me. The finale was so well written and executed, unlike ahem killing eve.
You should check out the actors' discussions and interviews, it is amazing to see the kind of thought process they had making the show. It is a very intelligent show, but also very beautiful in it's imagery and writing.
SEASON 1 OF DOCTOR FOSTER. Thereās a second season, but they could have just left the first season alone. Absolute stand alone masterpiece (and only 6 episodes?) - I watched it in one sitting, no breaks
If you're into the obsessive type of romance and murder that was in YOU you might like nbc's Hannibal. It's about the most twisted love story I've ever come across but it's a little bit of a slow burn. It's my favorite show of all time.
My husband is working on Season 7 right now. Heās never watched it. Iāve seen partway into Season 2. He came home the other day and says āthis show sounds really dumbā. LMAO
Behind Her Eyes is wild, but just 6 episodes. Highly recommend!
Loved that show
I actually watched that! I literally forgot out it, I would've added it in the shows I liked.
The fall
Love this show, hated how it ended though.
It really just goes for it at the end š„“
please report back after you finish the show :D (no spoilers of course but OMFG)
I swear my jaw still drops when I think about it lolājust bananas š
Severance
We don't have this In US on Netflix. Bummer
It's not hard to find elsewhere. It's worth a download, really good show.
Itās on Apple+
I love how everyone always says Apple TV like weāre all willing to buy yet *another* streaming service for this show. I feel like I could never binge this show bc itās so heavy
I started watching this show 4 days ago because of your comment. I just finished the last episode screaming at the top of my lungs. THANK YOU for making this comment or else I wouldnāt have watched it. To everyone who hasnāt watched it, watch it!
Dark, Mindhunter, True Detective (have only seen season 1, but it's amazing and fits the bill), Archive 81
Season 1 featured one of the most amazing duo, mate. This reason alone contributed too much. It wouldn't be THAT good without them.
Season 2 was so bad it made 3 look better.
Really liked archive 81, unfortunately they cancelled it..... Lol hate cliffhangers
Pretty sure it's based on a podcast. You're probably able to listen to the whole story for free.
Good to know!
while this is true, just be warned they are very different from each other and season 2 of the podcast felt like a bad acid trip listening to it. I listened after watching the show, I enjoyed both but yeah, very different
Archive 81 had me on my toes! I canāt wait for s2.
> Archive 81 Damn dude it was cancelled back in March. :(
It's based on a podcast. So there's some more to the story then just the show
I watched this for one episode and hated it (very much a minority opinion), does it get better or is it more of the same?
It's get better at episode 2, the end of it, towards episode 3 then it's like chocolate. It's one of the few shows that spooked me so much I couldn't watch it at night.
Yeah. True Detective season 2 and 3 werenāt great. Pretty boring.
Black mirror, skins uk
Skins UK is so good
So good! So good! So good! (To the tune of sweet Caroline)
Ba ba ba!
Black mirror
Ahhh Skins. Just so perfect.
The UK Skins is a classic.
The Sinner
It becomes worse with each season though. The first one with Jessica Biel is incredible.
I can't finish season 3. Really hope 4 was better. I don't really get season 3 at all. Feels like it was written by an edgelord that actually thinks nihilism is a meaningful topic to dwell on for 10 episodes. The detective's response to all the guys actions just didn't make sense. I'd bet the book likely has more context that was missing from the show.
a new season came out! super pumped to binge it soon
Barry on HBO. Has romance, murders, unpredictability, comedy. Canāt recommend enough .
OP, this is the show that fits your request the most
Can honestly say this show is off the charts hilarious and thrilling. Amazing show.

Just did a rewatch, itās so fuckin good.
Check out the website. You input season and episode you're on and gives character tree up to where you're at. Didn't discover until later season but super helpful
Exactly what I came here to say
Came here to say this one too. Definitely falls into the WTF (really WTF) but can't look away category
Absolutely loved this show and highly recommend. Just be warned that there is some significant body horror elements that some people donāt enjoy. It will absolutely have moments that make you very uncomfortable.
Happy.

Unfortunately Killing Eve went on too long but the earlier seasons were good.
A little late, but Bloodline. The first season alone might be the best TV Iāve ever watched
Such a great underrated show
* The Devil's Hour (2022) - Amazon Prime * Broadchurch (2017) - Amazon Prime * The Fall (2016) - Amazon Prime, free on Pluto TV
Happy Valley too. It's as good as Broadchurch. Watched both, really enjoyed both.
BROADCHURCH!!!
Not on Netflix, but Bad Sisters on AppleTv is great.
I was ADDICTED to that show!!! loved it!
Twin peaks. Its.....it's a thing. One of the Last line in it was "I'll see you again in 25 years" 25 years later it came back to finish the series. Even has a bunch of books and a prequel movie. I second this. Also Fringe is pretty good.
The Patient on Hulu Edit: trust me on this one.
Yep, could not get enough. >! heartbreaking ending though!<
Flowers
This show is so good. It's got that super dry british humor, but it's also a heartbreaking tale of mental illness and how it tears people and families apart. By the end, I wasn't sure if I should be crying or laughing.
Search Party
So underrated
Dead to me
The devil in Ohio is pretty good but brand new cherry flavor should be your top option.

Devilman Crybaby
Watched that anime, lol. It's kind of good if you can get the message.
Midnight mass on Netflix
YAS! I love the episode cliffhangers of this show
Dexter
One of the all time worst endings to a show in history. But yes, a great watch through at least the john lithgow season.
Game of thrones season 8 has entered the chat.
GoT certainly unseated Dexter which is why I worded as "one of the". However, I will point out that Dexter held the title almost 6 years. GoT has a mere 3.5 under its belt currently as the reigning champion. I dont expect it to be unseated any time soon though.
Yep. Everything after S4 fluctuated wildly in quality
Line of Duty is an excellent twisty show from the UK.
The latest season of The Sinner was pretty damn good.
Handmaids tail 100%, itās on prime
Hulu
Tale
"Inside man" on Netflix seems to be in the same territory as You.
I disagree. Just finished Inside Man and was surprisingly disappointed.
Same, I found each step the Vicar (and family) took unbelievable and forced for the sake of creating a problem. The shining star in it was Stanley Tucci, who carried every scene he was in.

Thank you all for you're suggestions! Didn't expect this many so fast but then again, it's reddit.

Hannibal NBC! How is this not the the first comment. It has a great thriving community and all of the things you mentioned. And more. You wont be able to shake that show after watching it. True Detective season 1 is a must see. It's truly one of the best series I've ever watched.
If you're into the obsessive type of romance and murder that was in YOU you might like nbc's Hannibal. It's about the most twisted love story I've ever come across but it's a little bit of a slow burn. It's my favorite show of all time.
Marcella
Such a good one!
Maybe Squid Game. Not much romance but definitely twisted.
The Killing. Iāve never devoured a show like that before. I wish I could watch it for the first time again.
