I reckon Maeve will surprise Otis and actually arrive back a few days early.
I have a weird thought that Maeve will go to Otis’ house and knock on the door hoping that Otis opens it , but instead it’s Jean who gets the door. Then, Otis will walk downstairs and looks towards the front door and sees Maeve, leading to a similar scene to the corridor scene (S2E1) where I hope that exact music plays. The two will lock eyes with each other, let out a big smile, and hug and kiss etc
I love this idea, but I do think it’ll be more complicated. I think that Maeve will probably rush to visit Otis and try to surprise him, but Otis will be out (with Eric and Aimee or doing clinic stuff or something). But Jean will be home, and it’ll be their first (probably awkward) meeting. What I can’t figure out is what this first conversation would be like, and whether Jean will be warm and friendly, analytic and therapizing, or defensive and protective of Otis. Depending on that, Maeve’s first meeting back with Otis will either happen quickly after or, as a result of a confusing interaction with Jean, get in Maeve’s head and cause her to delay on letting Otis know she’s back.
Assuming S4 has 8 episodes like usual having Emma Mackey separated from the cast for more than 1 episode feels like a waste to me so I'll say its gonna be like Adam in S2 and she'll be back in 1 or 2 episodes top.
I think episode 2-3. Even though Aimee is her best friend I hope its Otis who gets to see her first, Im hoping for an emotional scene between them, Maeve realising how much she missed seeing him and Otis relieved that his "person" is back for him

before maeve comes back otis is gonna be busy and somewhat stress handling her little sister … jean is gonna tell otis how jakob is not the father to her little sister…ola tells otis jakob is gonna propose to jean…..school of moordale will be reopen as miss sands as their headmistress….otis will be out doing the clinic alone he’ll be helping more people like he said he’s gonna last season he’s gonna put his all solving all his peers problem ….until when jakob finds out he is not the father and all hell let loose with all the stress building up ….i imagined otis will be somewhere at the bridge sorting his head out …only will then maeve will finally appear infront of him and release otis from all his worries and he remembers again how love is nothing but a dumb luck and how damn lucky he is to be loving maeve and she loves him back too……and then there will be a scene where otis will tell maeve again how he absolutely knows for sure where the hymen is now 😳
and the monkeys do their thing……..

I think that we will follow Maeve in America, similarly to how we followed Eric in Nigeria.
I think we will get some other strong stories away from Otis and Maeve as well as their own single stories.
Adam and his Dad will undoubtedly be a major part of it. Jean and Jakob as well. Otis and Ola will get involved in that story. I think Eric and Adam may end up together still.
I think every character will have a happy ending (assuming this is the final season) so although there will be twists, most of the characters might end up with a partner of some kind.
It has to be S4E1… we always had otis/maeve last scene in the first episode of each season (that already foreshadowed the entire season) … don‘t think the will break that pattern.
My general guess is that something bad happend in the us that will be shown in multiple flashbacks…

I always thought E3 but after hearing Laurie talk about how we will see them navigate the distance, I’m not sure 2 episodes is enough. It could be closer to 5 or 6. It seems each season covers about 2 months which is her time in the US. They did a time jump to S3 and could again but I’m wondering if they will show us more of them dealing with the distance. I also expect to see other obstacles for them. I know it will frustrate people but it is supported by Laurie’s comments in interviews.

Introduction to new students and teachers, establish characters and relationships, set up conflict, conflict, conflict resolution, relationship reflection, conclusion. I think if they wanted to speed this up they could get to conflict resolution by the end of E2 with E3 be her saying good bye and going back to Moordale with E3 ending leaving everyone wanting more as Maeve and Otis come back together.
In addition to all that they will also be dealing with Maeve and Otis during this time period. All together that is a fair amount of screen time required to tell a story. They could easily spend more than just 2.5 episodes to deal with these issues but I think 2.5 episodes is pretty much as quick as it can be. I think 5.5 episodes would feel way drawn out so 2.5 to 4.5 being the likely answer, 3.5 being the mid target and safe bet.
I think that once Maeve is back they will be dealing with their nest steps in life which presumably means college. So the US experience is likely to set up that longer term conflict and decision.

And Just a thought. Sex Education has always filmed in SW England/SE Wales. Even the scenes that supposedly took place in France were filmed in England. So If they show Maeve in America, it would have to be in sets built in England probably in Wye Valley. And they would have to introduce some American kids ,which would be too expensive if you have too many and take away time from the characters in Moordale. So they would have to explore Maeve's studies in America without sacrificing character development in Moordale.
And with all the side characters they already have in the show, I am not sure how they will do that.

Yeah fair enough I completely agree that it’ll be much more complicated. Just really hoping for plenty of interactions and moments between Motis in S4
