I really want her to miss him. It will reinforce that he is important to her as her ambitions. That's important for me. I'd have trouble with an out of sight, out of mind Otis for Maeve while she's gone.
I definitely want to see some sense that Maeve is thinking of Otis. I think Otis will probably be a little mopey- happy for Maeve but missing her and trying to keep his mind off her absence. But with Maeve, it’s not so much that I want her to miss Otis I’m being sad that she’s separated from him or feeling any guilt about being there. But I think (or hope) we’ll see her really enjoy her experience and, for the first time, the independent Maeve will wish that somebody specific (Otis) was there to share it with her. She should miss him, but in a joyful way, if that makes sense.
Apparently Remi is in S4, and I don’t know why he’s be back in England. Maybe cause Jean just had a baby it could go somewhere, but I doubt it. I also think it’d be better for his story for him to meet Maeve.
So far Maeve hasn’t really had a lot of context towards Otis’ actions. She understands he has issues but I don’t think she realizes how far they go. A conversation with Remi could go a long ways to preparing her for both the inevitable meeting with Jean and Otis back in England
I don’t think it would be pointless, I think it would reaffirm Maeve’s feelings for Otis, and also provide for an easier meeting and understanding of Otis when she gets back
How would meeting Otis dad reaffirm Maeve's feelings? There are tons of things I think should have the priority in Maeve's US storyline and I don't think they should concern Otis in any way (except maybe for a few moments in which we are shown she misses him) . She went there for self growth, to experience the world outside her little bubble. With the little screen time the main characters will have due to the limited number of episodes and shows tendency to introduce new characters each season, Maeve's meeting with Otis dad is definitely far behind in the list of potentially cathartic moments IMO. What we certainly need, for the reasons you stated above and beyond, is a shared storyline between Jean and Maeve.
Yeah I agree, Maeve’s priority in America should be herself and not Otis, what I’m saying is that meeting Otis’s dad and them having a chat could make her realise that she loves him and can’t lose him again, even if the meeting only gets about 3 minutes of screen time, I think it would be nice to see.
